I got locked into sunsation years ago when someone had a "gift someone tan minutes and receive tan minutes" deal. And I used to recommend them. Until I found out how much they overcharge for everything. For tabs they charge $3/minute while another salon that has the same beds and is just as clean charges $5 for a 10 minute tan. And then the lotion. I paid $25 for lotion the last time I was in (about a year ago) now all of the sudden their cheapest lotion is $65! When I look online or look at other tanning salons that exact same lotion, same brand type scent etc, only cost $28. On top of that a bunch of their desk staff has been creeping on my social media after I made a post about the prices. They've been repeatedly checking back for HOURS and viewing everything I'm doing. It's so creepy and unprofessional. Don't ever go to sunsation! Don't support these scam artists! Find another salon! read more

Great staff and very clean. We usually, actually never, have we had to wait for more than 2 0r 3 minutes for a bed. Eyeware is provided by the management for use along with a clean towel and a mint!! Love the hand scrapep wood floor so remember to remove those shoes at the door. I use the Mega beds and love them. I have tried the stand up Mega bed but I prefer to relax for 8 minutes and prefer the lay down. It gets boring standing for me in the stand-up.. :o) I guess if your a germphobe the stand-up is for you. If I remember correctly I last paid 150$ for 100 minutes for the Mega bed but the also have much cheaper, regular beds for rent.. Give them a try if you find yourself pasty like me :o) They take walk-ins and appointments too.. Call to see if they have a monthly special!! read more

Having moved to Anchorage only about a year ago, I haven't really found a tanning salon that I liked or even compared to what I was used back in Washington, until I came across Sunsation tanning salon. I came across it here on yelp and decided to give it a shot and WOW I couldn't have been more impressed. I have tried SO many salons back in Washington and here in Anchorage and this one hands down is the best! I honestly couldn't find a negative thing to say about it. The first thing I loved about the salon, before even going, was how they had a nice website and had a Facebook/instagram page, so I always feel I can get an answer to any question I might have. A good example is I saw they had a 25% off deal for first times clients on their first tanning package, I went on Facebook and posted the question "if that coupon was still valid." it wasn't even 10 mins and I got a friendly quick response. That's when I decided I defiantly was going to go in a have a look at the salon. I went in the other day at the Dimond location.... that's another thing, they have 6 locations!! It's amazing to be able to have one close to my house, close to my gym and close to pretty much anywhere I might be and be able to use my tans anywhere. So when I went in I was kindly greeted by Molly who made me feel very welcome and gave me all the information with the different kinds of packages and gave me a little tour of all of the beds. After all of that I defiantly decided this was the place for me. So I went to purchase my package all prepared to pull out the coupon for 25% off and before I could she already was letting me know about the deal. there are SOOO many salons that wont mention discounts in hope of the customer not knowing about them, to get more money and im happy to say this Salon is NOTHING like those. She also gave me suggestions on some great face lotions and they had this absolutely adorable idea of having little Easter eggs and inside was a little chocolate and little discount. So on top of the Easter discount that was already awesome, I got an extra $4 off my lotion. After that it was time to tan, I get in the room and they provide tanning goggles/towel and as a bonus a little chocolate mint (like the ones you get at Olive Garden) lol. I can't afford much of the nicer beds at the moment so I got a package of regular tans. I start my bed and I would never have felt I was in the cheapest beds. You can tell they change their bulbs frequently and the fans are in the bed so I don't even feel that hot or sweaty. And I literally got more tan in one session for 15 mins than I did with multiple days at a different salon. Longest review ever is almost done.... Another positive thing that might be weird to some but is a big deal to me with my new truck but the parking lots of these salons are awesome and big. So many salons in Anchorage have these tiny parking lots that are packed full and honestly I would not feel comfortable parking without feeling like my truck will get hit or door dinged. So I love that!! I waited to write this review until I went a second time to a different location to make sure I have a good experience and no surprise... I was greeted at the South location with a friendly hello and had a great experience again. If you are looked for a tanning salon in Anchorage don't look any farther. Quick and cheap. I tried the mega bed. $25 with a packet of lotion. I went in for 12 min and can already see a difference. The receptionist was really nice and showed me how to use the bed since it was my first time. They have 6 other locations so it's very convenient if you decide to get a package. read more

I recently moved to Alaska and was in need of some sun. I drove by this salon a few times and after looking online at salons, I decided to just go for it... In looking on tanning websites here I have noticed the "mega tan" beds, I was unsure what they were referring to, so when I arrived at the store, they had them as well. The girl at the front desk showed me around, these mega beds were in use so she explained to me that they were faster tanning and contoured to your body etc. I am SHOCKED how expensive they are!! Charging by the minute? I had never heard this (seems most salons in AK do this) it cost $15 for 7 minutes!! I was expecting something pretty amazing..... I get in the room.... They are the same beds we have back home; sure they are nice, but I can get a tan in SLC for $10 in this kind of bed if I did a single session, and I can go the FULL 12 minutes!! The salon overall was clean and seemed nice enough, the girl at the front was kind and explained their specials etc. unfortunately, it appears most the salons here charge this per minute business, which is quite silly and quite expensive. read more
