I contacted Leamon, the owner of Sunsational Skylights, after I discovered a leak in my sun tunnel which I guessed was maybe 20 years old. I was ready to replace it, but Leamon suggested it might only need a repair and offered to come out to inspect for free. He has been in this business for some time, was knowledgable and came when he said he would. Turned out I had a 2nd sun tunnel which was likely causing problems, so I had both replaced at a very fair price (I did my homework in advance.) My tech, Angel, was very courteous and also knowledgeable. He finished the job on time and cleaned everything up afterward. Leamon is very easy to work with, reliable and did a great job. We upgraded our 6 skylights to VELUX brand. The difference is like day and night. We live in a wildfire are; double glass skylights are defiantly a peace of mind. Leamon did an amazing job delegating the crane operator to lift the skylights on the roof. The crew managed no to break any of our existing tiles. Leamon the owner was helpful and very knowledgeable about their service. AFAIK They only do skylights so I knew I was getting the right people for the job. In these times of social distancing they were very careful and made sure they followed safety protocols to the letter. They finished the job ahead of schedule and made my new skylight look amazing. Do not do business with Sunsational Skylights owned by Leamon Stansell. He took our $1,500.00 for a deposit to fabricate a custom skylight. He cashed our deposit check. He never communicated, ignored phone calls and emails. We never received the finished product, without any explanation why. Seeing other reviews, he takes months till his work is started. Leamon was very responsive when he came to give an estimate to replace two skylights on April 21, 2021. I paid a deposit etc. Then he was very hard to get a hold of for two months until he finally sent Angel and Julio on June 16, 2021. It turns out he was doing another job. Anyway, I think Julio and Angel did a fantastic job installing 2 skylights in one day. I say I think because I am not allowed on the roof and it's only been 2 days. I am now waiting for the receipt. All in all Sunsational is a good business and Velux are the best but I agree with other clients that Leamon could use a scheduling assistant and not reduce his customers to calling and messaging multiple times for two months. read more

We had an issue with an older skylight that needed repairs. When I called other companies, they said they "couldn't work with that brand" or tried to sell me getting a brand new unit. It wasn't until I called Sunsational Skylights that I found somebody who was willing to help. Leamon sent out a team that got the job done efficiently and at a fair price. Nice product - but not from these guys. 14 & 18 inch solar tube w/install for $500, bigger for $750. Sounded like a good deal. Leamon the manager/owner? was good on the phone, initially. The website looked great. Then he lost my email, forgot our conversation, and I had to make several calls to remind him what I needed, my address, etc. I guess he must be really busy -- but can't he just take a note? All the negative signs were there - not calling me back, etc. - but he still sounded so professional compared to other places. Finally installation was scheduled and a guy showed up on time. Did his thing. Then I discovered the install was little off, so I called to get reinstalled (change the position a bit) -- which is covered for free according to the receipt I received -- called, then called, exchanged calls, finally I got through when i called from a blocked ID phone. Hmmm. He was at location so he said he would call back later -- and of course he didn't, so I did. You guessed it --no pick up. Left a message. Another call. 5 days later, we finally connect -- and I was very nice -- he arranges to have a technician return in a few days. We arrange the date. Then, no call. Doesn't show up. I called again. Nothing - and still nothing yet. Good guy that I am, I'll wait until Monday. I tend to give a benefit of doubt for a small guy - you know -- everyone has a bad day or two -- but if don't hear from him, no more good guy. I will take legal actions as well as send a letter to better business bureau. And I was trying to be so understanding and nice. Now he's starting to irritate me. The product he sells is a good alternative to the real skylight -- which I recommend, but this company? Stay far away, or you'll be disappointed like me. read more

They came out same week for the quote and worked with my schedule and came early weekday morning. As promised they ordered the skylight and it arrived 10 days later. Installation took 3 days as estimated and installers did wonderful work and were professional and very clean. There were some miscommunications and some minor scheduling problems, but look past these minor road bumps, and you'll find some good people, quality workmanship, and you'll love your new skylight. These guys installed one of the new Velux solar powered electric opening, remote controlled solar blackout blind having, rain sensing auto closing, skylight. The product Velux makes is awesome. Leamon came out and handled the meetings, estimate, and scheduling. He's a good guy with lots of experience and knowledge. There was a little confusion during our ordering process, and I had to double check that the skylight model numbers were correct on the written estimate. Also, the scheduling was a little wonky. It almost feels like Leamon is trying to juggle too many jobs, and he could use an assistant for this kind if thing. It's not a deal-breaker though. The installation was fast and the installers were extremely professional, although they were a few hours late due to LA traffic. This didn't wind up affecting the timeline though, as they stayed working until 6pm to get the skylight installed in one day. The second day was patching, painting, cleanup, etc. The installers respected my house and took great care to make sure the space was prepped with pads and sheets for the demo work. The craftsmanship on the drywall patching and painting is very high quality as well. Bottom line, these are good people installing some amazing products, and the end result is fantastic. read more

Leamon is a good guy. Works hard and is honest. I own an architectural firm and would use him on any of my projects and happy to come across his company. He is also a certified Velux installer which does make a difference being that we have come across other skylight installers that do not do their work correctly. read more

No respect for the customer and Leamon has major communication issues. They installed skylight in our apartment and initial installation was ok, even though they left a wire sticking out of my wall. After just 2 years blind stopped working. Since it was covered by 5 year warranty I emailed and called Leamon more than 5 times. Every time I had to explain what my issue was. Every time he said that they will stop by and take a look at it. After a month they never came. If he was at least honest I would not have wasted a month and found somebody who respects the customer. I reached out to Sunsational Skylights in early July. After some delay, i finally had their technician scheduled for a consultation of which I knew was a dead motor in one of my skylights. They charged me $175 for the consultation which I paid. i never heard from them again unless i wold call. i called each week until end of August and Leamon would take my information each time but never got back to me. Complete waste of time and money! I am now working with another company to replace my skylight read more

We needed 2 Velux sun tunnels and picked them up from Leamon for a great price. He had them in stock and I didn't have to buy from a big box store or wait for anyone else local to order and get them in. Our roofer will be installing them with our new roof. These guys installed 2 solar tubes in my bathrooms. After checking on the install from my attic, I noticed that the installer cut some corners and did not tape the solar tubes to the ceiling opening. I contacted the company an dthey promptly sent an installer to fix the problem. I was satisfied with there work and will use these guys again. Apaarently the original installer is no longer wit them. I called this company to find out about getting a skylight for my studio. I had a short timeline because of my workman's availability. It was a Saturday and I asked if I could drive to their store to get the skylight I wanted. The guy who answered the phone said that he did not know what was in his inventory and he'd call me back that afternoon. He said that if he had it, I could come get it on Sunday morning. He did not call. I called him back, and he still didn't know. I offered to come out and see, but he said the only time he was available was 8:00 am on Sunday. I said, no, that wouldn't work. He said they could deliver the skylight for $25 extra on Monday, "no problem." I said ok, please call me first thing Monday morning and let me know if it's coming, because otherwise I have to cancel my workers. He did not call Monday morning, or ever. Luckily I went to Home Depot and found what I needed, but I would not recommend this company at all. This guy makes promises he doesn't keep, doesn't return calls, and even in this computer age, doesn't seem to have any access to his inventory unless he's sitting in his shop looking at it. read more

I am very particular about subcontractors. I expect them to give me a professional estimate, stick to it, show up on time and complete the work as described. I expect them to return calls and emails in a timely fashion. Leamon at Sunsational did all of the above. I would use them again in a minute. Lucky for me, two days after they installed the skylights at my commercial building, it rained VERY heavily. There were no leaks and everything was great. read more

I'm so happy that I chose sensational skylights. One of the most common arguments with my wife is the need to get a skylight in our kitchen. Almost everyday she complains about natural light. So I called up sensational skylights so I could get a quote. We made an appointment for the next day, and he showed up right on time. After a short discussion we arrived at a quote that I did not expect! Super inexpensive! I was so happy with the price, and within only a week he was almost done with the skylight. My wife is happy, I am happy, and my kitchen is happy. I'm very glad we decided to go with 123kylights / sensational skylights to get our job done. I'm moving out to Arizona and am considering flying the guys from sensational skylights just to do my skylight!! I mean they are really that good. Highly recommended. read more

The installer was quick and helpful but Leamon is horrible, he just wants your money. He has no regard for customer service. When I called to set up my install, I requested a shade with my tubular skylight. The installer showed up without the shade and I was told it was damaged during shipping and that he would have someone bring it by my house. That never happened. I called him and he said to send him an email to remind him. Oh sure, anything else? Should I write you a post it note too? Anyway after at least 4 or 5 calls and almost 3 months , he just ignored me and I still don't have a shade. Now my twin newborn daughters have to take their daytime naps in a daylight lit room. Thanks Leamon. If you're looking for a skylight go with someone else. Leamon wouldn't pee on you even if you were on fire. One star is too many for this guy. read more

I explained to the owner that I wanted frosted Velux skylights and he delivered clear. Telling me that the frosted were much higher in price. With that information, i went with the clear. The design was CHANGED midway WITHOUT telling me until I noticed that the mounting system was now off centered. Apparently, the wrong sizes were ordered! I was informed at that point that this design would be better deflecting the sunlight better (not that it really mattered as it's north light)! The flashing system on the two larger skylights were completely different than what was installed in the smaller skylight. Having roofers come out, all concurred that the flashing system done was questionable. Now having my roof repaired now, my roofing contractor told me that the system installed would have the Velux representative shocked! Raw wood was exposed to the elements concealed with very thin tin "flashing." Worse, you could actually see the inside drywall as the wood surround the entire skylight was only partially covering the top concealed only by the flashing. Though the owner seems professional, he nor his team know what he is doing when installing an expensive Velux system. BUYER BEWARE!!! Fortunately, my roofer will correct the extremely BAD mistakes Sunsational Skylight Company did! read more
