Had a great experience working with Joe. From start to finish, our 20'x20' sunroom came together in about 4 months. Joe's a great guy and easy to work with. Out of all the contractors we reached out to, his price for an all season sunroom was by far the most affordable by a large stretch. IMO this is made possible as a smaller business with a more streamlined design. The other bigger companies we got bids from had much more customization options, but came at nearly double the cost. On our end, we are happy with Joe's designs and the manufacturer he orders from is top notch. The longest waiting was for the blueprint from his design engineer (remote guy in LA), which took awhile where both Joe and I had to ping and check-in on. That probably took 2 months. Once that came through, the construction was super fast as once the concrete base is laid and completed, everything else is pretty modular. Joe did a fantastic job wiring up the electrical as well. He also offered to add drywall over our previous exterior wall for a very good price and did a great job. read more

Can you believe it, we were waiting eagerly to write this review! Just had a sunroom built by Sunsational Sunrooms and you will see why we love these guys...posting some pictures along with this review... It all started with this dream for which we were saving for almost 10 years...getting a beautiful sunroom built on our patio... Came across this company on yelp and also saw first hand a sunroom they had built for our neighbors. Our experience with them: After we contacted them, Dennis came in to take a look at the patio, measure and find out more about what we were looking for in the sunroom. He was thorough, patient and very nice to work with. He gave us very good suggestions and the sketch of our Sunroom graced the paper. Joe and Alberto came in and went through specifics with us. We couldn't wait for the work to start and soon enough it did. Alberto and Regulo came in on the weekend and built the entire sunroom!! These guys are just amazing...man!!! Joe was very accommodating to the details we were requesting and very patient with us. He and Lazaro put in our drywall and painted it for us as well. I can't wait to tell you how much we are satisfied with the job done by Sunsational Sunroom. They saved my project. The size of my sunroom is approximate 18'x19' inside, 20'x20' outside. We bought a house in Newark, which has a un-permitted sunroom. Before we bought the house, several salesmen told us that it was nothing. We visited more than 200 houses in this area, half of them had the same issue. On the first day we got the key of my house, the inspector came to visit us, let us know we were in trouble. We've been trough some hard times, and lost a lot of money. I started to have doubt with people in the bay area until we met the Sunsational Sunroom. They gave me the faith to people again. Part 1. Quote-Dennis I called the number on the yelp, someone gave me Dennis's number, asked me to talk with him. It was pleasant to talk with Dennis. After he came and measured, he gave me his estimate in person. Unlike the other company gave me a price through e-mail, Dennis came to explain the project. He hand writing everything. During the discussion, we have a new idea, he gave us another plan. In the end, he hand drew a final plan for us. He came to my house over and over again. Dennis was amazing. Part 2. Draw blueprint and plan review-Jay Jay forgot my case for about 2 weeks until I made a call to Dennis. He finished our plan and summited it on the following Tuesday. After 4 more weeks, I called the Jay again for the result, he told me he hadn't got it yet. For my other project, I called the Newark city and also asked about this plan check by the way, the staff told me that my plan won't be checked until someday. They always told the one who came to apply that the waiting time is 6 weeks. After a long time of waiting, Jay was not able to get it pass for the first time. After revising, he got a permit 2 month later. Before that, I never saw the plan. The drawing has a huge difference with the one Dennis gave me. Jay told me that it doesn't matter, people can change plan after get a permit. He asked me to pay him the permit fee on the day he got the permit. Part 3. Demolish, framing, and electrical-Alberto The framing team is led by Alberto. Alberto is the best team leader I've ever seen. He cares about the need of the customers as well as the quality of the job. His team was super fast. They demolished the old sunroom in one day. Built it in 3 days! George(?) didn't talk much, but he did a very good job. Regulo spent a lot of time in my house to do the electrical and landing. He always listened to our needs, reported, and did it fast. Part 4. Finish-Joe I'm surprised that the boss of the company, Joe, who did the job by himself. He must enjoyed the job a lot. He also gave me some advise to select the shad. He installed it for me. We just had a sun room installed and it is fantastic! The team was very patient with us through the planning phase and once the materials arrived, they were very quick at demolishing the old patio and screen room, pouring a new slab, and erecting our new sun room. They accommodated our custom requests (building in an AC unit, installing an overhead fan, etc) and even volunteered to add in extras like installing exterior lighting, hanging shades and vertical blinds, and patching up holes in our exterior wall. There's not a lot of reputable company that builds sunroom around the Bay Area, but theses are one of the few ones left. They do the whole thing; design, permitting, building, electrical, drywall, and roofing. Worked with Dennis on the initial drawings and specs. He hands-draw them, which is nice. Don't see that very often. They'll take care of all your permitting and scheduling with the inspector as well. Jackie was the primary builder that built our sun-room with Joe and his other partner doing the roofing. They accommodated all my request for outlets placements and installed ceiling fans along with skylights, which turned out great. Had a small issue with the roof leaking and they were quick to return and resolve it. The attention to detail from Jackie was great. I'm pretty particular to little details, but Jackie far exceeded even my own expectations. He kept the workplace clean and tidy everyday and was always in communication with us. Price was very reasonable. Don't hesitate to give these guys a call. read more

We "had" an old leaky screen room. In the winter it was cold and of course drafty. The ceiling leaked worse than a sieve. We had a couple of estimates and they all seemed to be within 10K of each other. Keep in mind, our room is 300 square feet. They tore the old room down. We had contracted to have a new cement slab put in, stamped of course and large cathedral ceilings. Two walls are ALL glass (a little frame work of course) and two walls are the outside of the house. Dennis came in, wrote up an estimate and then we had to wait. We were in the middle of a refi and could not do anything. Dennis and the rest of the company very patiently waited, and waited and waited. Finally we got the money and called. They got on it and in no time, Jay had the permit. I felt sorry for Jay. He had to deal with the city of San Jose. The permit was 3 times what we thought it should be. Bless his little heart, Jay was able to negotiate with the city and they waived a bunch of unneeded fees. The crew came out and completed demolished our old room in a day and half. The concrete slab came out in two days. By day four, Betto's crew were doing framing for new cement. A bit of an oops. They didn't have the plans from the city. San Jose wanted a huge footing to hold the walls and ceilings. Not a problem. The crew came back and dug it by hand. Inspection passed. Concrete was ordered. We wanted it colored and stamped to look just like our existing paver patio. They came real close (the color was off, but that was the mixer of colors in Los Angeles fault). After the cement was done and cured for a week (it's very thick and needed a couple extra days), Larry came and started installing all the framing. Every piece of the room was fabricated right here in the yard. It fits like a glove. He was able to order all the glass and it got here very quickly. While he waited for the glass to arrive, he completely sheet rocked the two outside walls. Now because we were planning on putting a hot tub in this room, Larry went and got "green" (blue) board. It has a better water proofing to it. He was able to wire the entire room for the LED lighting and fan. We had ordered that the roof be shingled just like the rest of the house. Joe (the owner) went shopping and found the exact shingle that is on our house. I had to tease him. He was doing all the running around getting stuff for folks, so I had to call him the "go-fer". Now for the negative. The only thing I can say about anything negative, is that some times they dont communicate well. Especially with each other. But that is so minor, that I have absolutely no problem recommending them. As Dennis said, just tell Joe or Larry what you want and they'll do it for you. Now we have a new, 300 square foot outdoors room. OH! I forgot to say...it rained so hard during the weekend. I looked and looked and looked. Not one single leak!!!!! You want a sun-room? Call them!! They pay attention to details and truly want to please the customer. One more bad thing. Now I have to go buy "nice" patio furniture for this room. ************************************************ Update 2-11-15. My original review was August 2013. Since that time, we have had a couple of major rain storms pass right over us. As Joe, the owner of the company said, they stand behind their product and if the room leaks, we WILL fix it. I am very happy to report, that in the 1 1/2 years we've had this room, there has NOT been even the slightest leak.!! So no need to call Joe. I can also attest that during the hottest summer months, our sunroom stays on average 10-15 degrees cooler than outside. My wife and I spend several hours per week in this room watching tv or reading or just relaxing. The answer is yes. The question is, would I do this room again? read more

Our first floor ceiling was dripping water in the middle of the room. We thought it was the sunroom roof leaking water into the house. Called Sensational Sunroom. Joe checked it out and everything was fine. Then he spotted the water mark on the outside wall of the second floor. Went up to the roof and identified the real problem of our leak - a cracked tile and cracked vent. The rain water came down the side of the house from there, got into our sunroom and the ceiling on the first floor. He went out to Lowe's and found a suitable tile and other material. Quickly fixed our roofs before the second rainstorm came in that evening. Thanks to Joe's awesome service and quick response, we are dry and safe now, without to worry about a thing! read more

Sensational Sunroom did an amazing job. I am very happy with my sunroom project! Joe is the owner and he was very easy to work with. He is very nice and patiently listen to all my needs and concerns through the whole process. He and his team did a great job in every step of the process from starting to get a design set up and acquiring the proper permit, to professionally building up the room. The whole process was very smooth and it was a great experience. Dennis was the first person on this team to work with us. He came and measure the site then sketch the sunroom for us. The reason I gave 1-star for this Sunroom company is because of the lack of professionalism and service. The sales person who came to our house was Dennis. He was very knowledgeable and a decent person. He answered all of our questions and came several rounds to our house and gave a quote. We couldn't negotiate with him as he said it was the final quote and he couldn't go lower. His quote was comparable with 1 other sun room company and also my contractor. We chose to go with Sunsational Sunrooms because of Dennis, even though we had 2 competing prices around the same range. We signed a contract with Sunsational Sunroom and also gave a 1000$ deposit as part of the contract. The contractual terms were all favoring the company and nothing to protect the customer. Yet, we trusted the company based on salesperson's words and signed the contract. We also got our permit forms from Fremont city signed by our neighbors. We spent week ends in hardware stores and searching for the lighting, furniture, right flooring style for Sunroom, air conditioner unit, etc. After a week, I receive a postal mail from the owner of the company - Joe Herrero with the statement - "Thank you for giving us the opportunity to earn your business, we are returning your deposit". This is all it said. I was confused and called the salesperson to understand what it meant. I learnt that the owner decided to void the contract because he thought that the price they quoted was low and that they can't do the job in the quoted price. This is absolutely ridiculous. After signing the contract based on the terms of the company, the owner decides to trash it because he thinks the price quoted was lower? In fact, salesperson had told me that he had run the numbers with the owner - Joe and he was ok with it. What about the time we spent in looking for lighting, furniture, flooring, air conditioner, hours talking to the sales person? At the end, this company has left us with a very bitter experience. The owner doesn't have the dignity or the courtesy to call and explain why he is canceling the contract. If this is the way he treats his customers, I am not sure what quality work this company can provide. read more

All told, I am VERY happy with Joe and how well he worked with us to deliver exactly what we wanted. I felt like he really truly cared about what we wanted and ultimately delivered it, communicating more with us once we identified the problems. We are also so very happy with Jackie's attention to detail in his beautiful work. We have a beautiful little sunroom. We really enjoyed working with both Joe and Jackie on this project. They even worked with us when we discovered the sliding glass door opened on the opposite side than we wanted, after it was installed while I was away on a business trip. I felt they were sincere in wanting to make sure that we were happy. In the end, I would use Sunsational Sunroom again - esp. if I could skip working with Dennis and go straight to Joe for more realistic timing and expectation setting. It was a distinct pleasure working with Joe and Jackie. ***** Net-net: Their sales representative Dennis is congenial, but politely nags you with phone calls, supplies a quote with a deadline to rush you, and then sets false expectations on timing. We signed the contract on 3/31, Dennis thought the work would start within 2 weeks of that, and by 6/6 we simply had a cement footer. The 13x7 sunroom was completed the week of 20 June. So just go into it knowing how Dennis is, and rather than expect him to be accurate, put your trust in the owner, Joe, to be realistic about the timing and have a quality sunroom in the end. Once I complained about the unrealistic expectations and a bit of a false start, I felt Joe went the extra mile to start keeping in close touch, including when I was traveling and in different timezones. I really appreciated it and so did my partner, even though this was my own little project I had been planning to do for 10 years. Joe showed that he is genuinely concerned about the customer's concerns, I felt more like a valued customer and Jackie, the main builder, could not have been nicer having onsite building it out. Jackie is also very organized and clean - he left hardly a speck of anything on his work site. The quality of the work has been top notch, and I'm really enjoying the sunroom. read more

UPDATE.. Joe (owner) called me the day after my previous review and arranged to come by to see and review our project. To my surprise, Joe was very nice and professional. We reviewed the projects and identified challenges due to the protrusion of our kitchen window. Beto and Joe provided some ideas and arranged to start project (finally). Joe's demolition crew was top notch, taking down our wooden deck/awning in one day. They even clean up at the end of each day. It is now 8/19 and demo is complete. Joe stopped by to see how things are going which i didn't expect. I will update once project is complete but so far, Joe and team has pleasantly surprised me. Stay tune for more updates. Our sunroom has just been finished today, yeah! We are so happy about the work done by the guys from Sunsational Sunroom, I just can't wait to post the feedback for them. I chose Sunsantional Sunroom after I saw their work from one of their customer, it was very nicely done and I didn't even bother to get other quotes. We started from getting permit from HOA and city, they did everything for us and everything went smoothly. The concrete slap was beautifully done, shining like a mirror. Jackie spent days building up the sunroom in our back yard. He is such a detail guy and everything he made is like a piece of art, we just love his work. He tried his best to meet our needs and gave us good suggestions when we need to make certain decisions. The best part I like about him is he cleaned up everyday before he left, I've never seen a contractor like this. We are so pleased with our new sunroom, they accomplished everything we dreamed of in a very short period of time. Maybe others have positive experience with them, but ours was horrible. Dennis was the sale guy whom we met, Jay was supposed to get us the permit, and he was never able to get it. I even gave them a 2nd chance, and nothing came out of it. During the whole process, I talked to Joe the owner multiple times and he kept telling me to talk to Jay. If you are remotely thinking about getting a sunroom from this company... think again!. This is the most inefficient installation company I ever had to deal with. After 1 year and 4 months of signing the contract, my project is still unfinished ! And they are not showing any signs of being in a rush to get it done. First, I had to deal with a misleading sales person. Then with an inept Permits coordinator, working only part-time (that sometimes would take two weeks to respond to an email that require a 4 word response). Then with a moody, and temperamental installer (BTW, the only efficient person in the company), who would make you feel he doesn't have time for your questions and forgets about previous conversations you had with him. Then with the owner, who is a good, diplomatic, peacemaker, but has no idea what's going on in the field, because he rarely shows up on location. Thanks but no Thanks. Joe told me that currently Sensational Sunroom doesn't serve Los Angeles area, but he is willing to provide free independent consultation regarding cost of sunroom and things to look for. I provided him with the deck plan for sunroom, pictures and written estimate from another contractor. Joe spend at least one hour of his time going in details thru my project, making sure I am getting right materials at right price. His advice was really helpful and valuable. Hi Yelpers, Great team to work with and beautiful finished product! We had a great experience with Dennis, Jay, Joe, Berto and crew, Jackie and his son. Dennis the estimator came out to talk with us and was very patient with us. We went through several plans before we finally came up with one that we were satisfied with. Thanks, Dennis. Jay then pulled the permit; there were a little delay partly because of our schedule. Joe (the owner) came out to see the site and review the plans with us. Then Berto and his crew came out to demo the old patio roof and prepare the grounds for the concrete. They did an absolutely beautiful job with our new raised concrete slab; the top was level and smooth (they labored over every square inch), the corners were straight and even; the sides with straight and smooth; absolutely gorgeous! Then Jackie came with his son to build the sunroom itself on top of the new concrete slab. Joe would also come to help Jackie with the roof panels and even crawled into our attic to pull the electrical home run. Thanks, Joe, for being a real hands-on owner. Jackie went out of his way to give us the best electrical set up I ever wished, making sure that the GFI would not trip. Any detail that I wanted Jackie to work on, he would do and do a professional job beyond my expectations (and I'm a detailed guy). We had great experience with Sunsational Sunroom. We got 5 quotes and though SS was not the lowest, Dennis, their sales person was amazing. He gave a clear and thoughtful proposal with visual map of what it will look like in the end and worked closely with us to create a contract that is very detailed and workable. He also gave us options that we could decide later and the benefits of each of those options. He also worked with us on the price and I highly recommend you work with Dennis for your sun room. Then Joe Herrera (the owner) and his team started building it for us. It did take a while for them to schedule the project though Dennis mentioned that it would be -- so no surprise. Joe, Al and Betho (?) were conscientious, cleaned up after themselves every day and build a great sun room we are very happy with. They were flexible, kept their word on what they promised, allowed us to make some changes where it was necessary and we are very happy to recommend them. Finally, Joe is good to work with, delivers on the promises that they make and keep his word through out. after having some work done on our bathrooms that was really disappointing and slow, i did not have high hopes for our sunroom repair. the sunroom that came with our new home was very old. the single pane plastic was cracked in many places and leaked every time it rained. it also got so hot in the summer than it was actually more of a hazard to our pets and toddler child. we picked sunsational based on the reviews here and elsewhere, and i couldn't be more pleased! they showed up on time, they let us know when we were leaving for the day, they cleaned up after themselves every single day instead of leaving equipment and materials everywhere. i don't remember how quickly they finished our project, but they tore down our old sunroom, disposed of the trash and erected a brand new one in a surprisingly short time. i didn't even get any pictures in progress! we're thrilled with the new room, which looks great and withstands the elements without any problem. read more
