We just finished up a 3 month project with Bay Builders on a major transformation of the sunroom, kitchen, living room and dining room (and some other smaller items) and we could not be happier with the results. We recently moved into the home and had a vision in mind for what we wanted. Ofir, Rene and the rest of the Bay Builders team turned that dream into a reality and then some! First, the project was not easy as the home was a bit older and there were some structural changes that needed to be done. We purchased our remodeled/new house from Bay Builders in 2019. While we were not involved in the build process, we are extremely happy with the quality of work and all the finishes that Gilad and team used. We loved the white oak beams they had installed in the living room ceiling, so we asked Gilad if they could replicate them in our master bedroom and office on the second floor. They matched the material perfectly and completed the work on time and on budget. Our teenage daughter has special needs and we needed to make some updates to her bathroom to accommodate her. We engaged Bay Builders after evaluating over 10 contractors. They have a clean CSLB record (you'll be surprised by what you find digging in the CSLB public records), a core team that has been working well together, reasonable pricing and excellent references. Compared to other firms, Ofir paid attention to the details of our project during the bidding process. The project involved a full remodel of the 4500 sq feet two storey house, gutting it to the studs. Our house had ample design details which required planning and thought -for example, we wanted frameless glass (no clips, embedded channels in the walls or floors that are not visible) and this required coordination between glass, hardwood floor, tile and drywall installers. Like all construction projects, we had issues with permit delays, unexpected code requirements resulting in change orders, unforeseen repairs (it was an old house up on a hill, after demolition, we realized there was significant water damage in the walls), mistakes and cost overruns. Our house is located in the Santa Cruz mountains, which meant manpower, logistical and weather challenges. We were able to rely on Gilad to resolve these issues in a timely and fair manner. We especially appreciated Rene Carcamo who was in charge of our project who has been an absolute joy to work with- he pours his heart into his work and treats the crew with respect and kindness. The work ethic of the team was excellent. We had full crews working on the house most days, and Rene was able to problem solve, improvise and keep the project moving along. We were pleased with most of the specialized subcontractors whom Bay Builders used. Given it was a remodel, Horacio's framing crew were able to figure out solutions to resolve various framing issues with our structural engineer. Juan Carlos did an excellent job with our hardwood floors and stairs thread- the hardwood stairs thread matched our engineered floor planks beautifully. Eric and his crew were meticulous with the tile work and Luis Bautista was very hands-on supervising his crew for the paint work. Working with Tom & his Bay Builders team has been amazing. We've always known that we wanted to update our home that was built in the 90s, but we didn't know how to approach it. We knew how we wanted the kitchen to feel but didn't know how to define it. This is where Bay Builders excels. They take the time to get to know the client, understand their needs and desires, and patiently walk them through the process. Tom started by having us send him our ideas and styles we wanted for our kitchen, we discussed them with his design team, and then we went to different cabinet makers to get a sense of the materials. We eventually settled on the materials, and his designer was able to input our desires into a 3D CAD model. The 3D render is super important to us because it would be foolish to spend a lot of money on a kitchen reno thinking it would look one way in your head but have it turn out differently in the end. Once we liked it, we bought materials, his building team was super easy to work with and showed fine craftsmanship, and executed our vision. They were flexible when we wanted to make modifications to the plan and overall were super professional. Rene pushed the project through the finish line. At one point we passed all but energy forms in final inspection. But the energy consultant was not responsive. Our house was originally built in the late 1940s or early 1950s. It was not updated much other than a bit in the 1990s by previous owners. We had been thinking about what future we wanted for our home for a long time. With the pandemic, work from home, kids still being not-yet-school-aged... the timing was such that we needed to make it happen during this wild time in human history. The project has been a complete gut and remodel PLUS adding onto our home. We met with many companies, but Bay Builders were the team that we felt most comfortable entrusting our project with. Not sure what went wrong but they came with a bid of $13,600 compared to everyone else in the $3k - $4k range so not exactly cheap. I did ask how much time they thought the job would take but no answer (other bidders said 2-3 days). Maybe they made a mistake, maybe opportunistic or maybe just super-high end builder but make sure you get at least one comparison before signing because 3x + higher cost is a bit hard for anyone to justify. read more

We were looking to build an addition to our house and came across Bay Builders & Remodeling. We received several bids and chose Bay Builders because of competitive planning pricing and the fact that they were the only company we evaluated which covered all stages: planning, design and building, and credit planning cost toward building expenses. Now that our project completed, I can tell that we have made good choice. We are very impressed with quality of work. Every construction project (especially big one as house addition) is not ideal. There will be always surprises, issues, etc. Obviously, quality is very important for us, but equally important is how issues were resolved. Bay Builder were there for us along all the stages and resolved hiccups very fast and with high quality. I give credit to our project manager Gilad. He is super responsive and very scrupulous. He would visit project site very often and point out issues or give directions to contractors. I would always rely on Gilad to perform quality work. But even before government initiated shutdown and work was stopped, Gilad personally made sure to isolate building site from the rest of the living space. They setup plastic tarp from wall to wall and from ceiling to floor, so site was completely sealed and isolated (see attached picture showing view from construction site), which was very important for elderly members of our family. Front Yard Review: After completing a major remodel of our Belmont home, both inside and out, it was clear the existing "rustic" front-yard landscaping no longer fit. After working with a landscape architect on a redesign, we faced the challenge of getting it installed. As shown in the pictures, the front-yard has a steep slope, and knew it would not be an easy project. Bay Builders (Gilad Baron and Tomer Aloni) - the general contractor we used for the home remodel phase - immediately came to mind. They were both experienced in working with the necessary permitting departments, and knew the house inside and out. After sharing the landscape design we wanted to achieve, Gilad and Tomer presented us with a very competitive offer compared with the other cost estimate we had received. We were looking to renovate our outdated kitchen for a few years already, but we always put our plan on hold because finding a great construction team is really difficult. We generally hear horror stories and dissatisfaction on other construction companies. But it's a DIFFERENT story working with Bay Builders this last December 2019.   From the first encounter of getting a quote, Tal, the project manager, has always been so professional and knowledgeable. He also seems like the type of person who are on top of things, responsible, and responsive. True enough he lived up to our expectations. Beautiful Design is included with the project and the process from the beginning of planning, the execution, and the final results are all very satisfactory for us. They made sure that we still have livable and clean space for us during the constructions. They always clean up afterwards each day, put up plastic sheets walls and taped up everything very neatly. These are very important to us, since we have a small kid. Rene, who is the foreman of the project, is very professional and awesome as well. He made sure things are going according to plan and everything goes smoothly. They are very responsive in term of any request for touch up or fixing imperfections.   Of course sometimes there are hiccups and challenges during construction, such as faulty appliances. We were so appreciative of Tal and Rene's help in returning our faulty appliances to the store, and thus we were able to repurchased new appliances with no problem.   We love our new kitchen and everything finished in a timely manner.  We would definitely recommend Bay Builders Construction to all my friends, and work with them again for the future projects. We hired Bay Builders & Remodeling to do our kitchen and two bathrooms. First, we only signed a contract for the kitchen and one bathroom. We were not very satisfied with their quality of work but we still signed a contract for the second bathroom with them as they already had a permit for the entire remodeling project. It was a big mistake. They promised that they would finish the remodeling of the second bathroom in 6 weeks from the start of their work. They were not able to finish it on time. The project manager even went so far as to tell us that it was our fault and misunderstanding. Finally we started to record our conversations with the project manager (he was made aware of it and agreed to it). The complaint we have - is that the project manager was not always respectful. (In the picture you can see how they installed the outside door for the jet-bathtub. The door would always open during windy weather.) We also want to warn you that you should expect to have a mess around your house for many days. The quality of work is poor. I would not hire them again. I cannot recommend using this team for any remodeling jobs you are considering. I gave them two stars because they did finish the job and after multiple attempts finally fixed their low quality work. Thanks Michael and Bay Builders for my kitchen remodel that I longed-for ! Without getting convincing proposal from other contractors, I had only 3 weeks remaining until my tenant's move-in date. Then Michael showed up and gave me reasonable price, saying can take care everything including city permitting process and secured workforce to fit into my schedule. I liked their business model that their price is labor, leaving me to buy cabinets and countertops directly from shop. Also he kindly offered to include my smaller job (like vanity replacement and sliding door installation) pushed in the price. Still kitchen remodel of half century old condo is not straight-forward. Major electrical issues were found after demolition, which required sub-panel replacement and rewiring. Although this certainly caused unexpected cost and delay, Micheal worked hard for me to minimize the effect by negotiating with city officials as well as Bay Builders absorbs some of the cost. I really appreciated that. Also they gave me baseboard as their appreciation. Michael always kept me posted on the status and next steps, so I had never concern. We contracted Bay Builders & Remodeling to undertake remodeling two bathrooms and installing a completely new kitchen cabinets. The overall results have been outstanding and I couldn't be happier. This is largely due to the overall project manager Tal Monero. Tal is the consummate professional and provided exceptional customer service. From the beginning, he scoped out the entire project plan, listening and ensuring this encompassed our requirements. The plan was broken down into multiple phases, with the costs clearly outlined. He then put together and introduced us to the team implementing the project. My wife and I had limited experience with remodeling, so Tal was great, for example, introducing us to a bathroom designer who walked us through all the options available to us, within our personal taste and budget. When I finally decided to move forward, I did the first round of "interviews" with contractors recommended by various people and was presented with low-ball pricing, questionable permitting habits and an overall lack of communication. Frustrated, I put the project on hold for another year. During "Round Two", I met with three project managers from legitimate companies I sourced myself. All were bonded, licensed, insured and quoted roughly the same price. Ultimately, I chose Bay Builders and Remodeling, Inc. (BBR) because Tom Alony, the project manager (PM) was honest, knowledgeable and did not annoy/stalk me to get the job. Yes, I based my hiring decision on the PM's annoyance potential. Luckily, I made the right decision because not only did the team do a remarkable job on the first bathroom which started and stopped twice in March because of COVID-19 but on the other five rooms that they have remodeled since!! As a PM, Tom was great to work with and made the process easy. Not only is he knowledgeable and fun, he saved me thousands by acting as my voice of reason during our creative design sessions by offering practical recommendations and substitutions for my "dream" fixtures-spot on every time and I cannot be happier with each design. He was an excellent manager of all six projects (completed in less than five months) and of his talented and hard-working team. Carlos and Jose were true artists when it came to design and execution. I never expected to see such a high level of perfectionism from contractors. Carlos designed an amazing and flawless tile patterns and Jose took a class to learn a specific metallic faux paint technique that I decided I "needed" to have to make my design complete. Juan was great and has since helped us with plumbing emergencies unrelated to our core projects. It is always weird to have "strangers" in one's home but in a matter of days this team seemed like family and, now that all of the projects are complete, we are sad that they are gone (especially our dog who still waits for them at the front door every morning).
