We recently completed a major five-month remodeling project with Shay and his team, and I genuinely cannot recommend them highly enough. This was a complex scope: removing the structural wall between our kitchen and living room, eliminating the existing fireplace, adding two new patio doors to bring in more natural light, and building a small exterior addition to create a proper master bedroom closet. On top of that, we ended up doing a full house electrical rewiring after opening the walls and discovering extremely old and unsafe wiring. It was a lot, and Shay handled every part of it with professionalism, patience, and real dedication. Before choosing a contractor, we interviewed 10-15 different companies. We remodeled our entire house (kitchen, 2 bathrooms, flooring, interior and outside paint) and built an ADU unit of 900 sq ft. and hired Shay from We Remodel and Build. Shay expedited the engineering plans and city permits which made it easier for us to get started. For this specific project Shay couldn't start before 7-8 months but he managed to shorten the wait time to 5 months. TLDR: After living in the house for almost a year after the renovation finished, my wife and I are still happy. Things were not perfect, and they never will be, but we still can't believe this is our home. Shay and his team (specifically Ernie, Jorge, and Paco) are great at what they do, but they're also great people. Renovations are not easy, especially living through one, but they were great throughout the process and always made us feel comfortable and informed. ----------------------- Full Review: My wife and I are first-time homeowners that were in a position to renovation our dream house. We had phone calls and in-person consultations with four or five different contractors while trying to plan our renovation. We Remodel & Build was not the cheapest option, nor was it the most expensive. However, the thing that set them apart from the others was the amount of time Shay spent explaining the process, measuring the various rooms, and answering all of our questions. Having been our first time doing any work on the home, we had knots in our stomachs at the thought of committing so much money to someone we only knew for two hours, but we feel like we made the right choice. We're all aware of Covid lockdown delays by now, but long story short is trying to obtain permits turned out to be a nightmare. Our project, which was expected to be finished within 4 months, was forced to split into two separate renovations. Our Primary Bedroom/Bathroom renovation was approved in under two months, but our Great Room/Kitchen renovation took eight months to be approved. It was a very frustrating time for both us and Shay, but his team kept up updated whenever they received any updates. The delays made us antsy and anxious, but once the Great Room/Kitchen renovation began, the fun finally began. Every day after my wife got home from work we'd walk through and see all the progress made. Even though there was no drywall, we had gigantic holes in our foundation, and there were old electrical wires dangling everywhere, we finally started to see our vision come true. Don't get me wrong, things were not always great. Every time you open up walls there are surprises that pop up and we found out firsthand. There were difficult days. There were times when we didn't want Shay to call us because we feared he might tell us things we didn't want to hear. Maybe it was just our inexperience with renovations, but do not go into a renovation expecting perfection. But the bad news was always temporary. Majority of the time Shay called it was to provide us with good news and optimism. In total, Shay's team did a complete Primary Bathroom refresh, removed multiple walls in the Great Room, installed 3 header beams to give us open concept, reinforced our exterior walls (both shear walls and strong walls), installed luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout, and completely remodeled the kitchen. It was a big project, at least to us, but we could not be happier with the outcome. There was frustration, there were smiles, there were laughs, and there were speechless moments. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, but absolutely worth it to know that this will be our house for decades to come. We added over 300+ square feet of additional space in our house with a newly configured great room and open plan kitchen. I am writing this review about the work done from Shay at We Remodel and Build. It was far better than I ever thought possible. I was looking for some help with a 400 square foot in-law unit. I was talking with a neighbor about it and he recommended we remodel and build. I also asked for recommendations on NextDoor, and I had two more neighbors recommend them and said what a good job they did! Getting a separate unit fast was very important for me to have. I needed a safe clean and beautiful place for my mother to stay because of Covid and because I wanted her close by. I was worried, though, about having it done on time and safely. Shay and his team did a great job remodeling our bathroom. We initially thought this would be a small job, however, after finding significant water damage to the floor beams and joist underneath the shower, this small job quickly became a more complicated job. Shay did not let us down. Whenever we had issues with work scheduling, Shay was responsive and communicated with us to make sure that our time was not wasted while waiting for the workers to arrive from other jobs. It became apparent early that Shay values his customers and was willing to go that extra step to make sure our experience was good and that we were not overly inconvenienced. Things happen during construction so two way communication is important. Shay also cares about his work product and went an extra step to change our old cast iron pipes with newer PVC pipes, at no extra cost to us, after hearing from his plumber that these pipes needed to be replaced. Finally, after I notified Shay that our bedroom wall, next to the bathroom, experienced cracks from the pounding (in the bathroom). Shay took care of the issue without further questions. All and all we are happy with the way our bathroom remodel turned out. I am sharing pictures of our bathroom before and after the remodel. Shay and his team at We Remodel & Build recently completed a major renovation of the 100 year old house that we bought. We are very pleased with the outcome, and it was completed essentially on time, even with the normal curve balls and delays that any large project inevitably has. Overall the quality of work was very good, and Shay is always eager to help and to do right by the customer. Some of the items we were particularly pleased with are listed below. There were a few issues which we needed to point out for correction - flooring fixes, outdoor paint corrections, lead dust exposure. And at times the communication between Shay, the various work crews, and us was challenging. But in each case he was very active in getting the situation resolved, and at no extra cost. Additionally, there were several occasions where he offered to do work items or cover costs which were not on the original contract. This shows that he truly does want what is best for his customers and that he is committed to doing whatever is needed to deliver. *Kitchen - it was a complete remodel, and it is beautiful, even after the workers had to deal with the nuances of a 100 year old house - e.g. uneven floors and walls. *Indoor painting - very high quality. We used many different colors throughout the house and the indoor painters got each room right, and even consulted with us in a few cases to help us make the right decision on which color to use where. *Electric - we had to re-do the entire wiring, and the team doing that work was very good, coming out as many times as needed to help with various issues that came up. They even did a little work for free in the ADU (which was not in scope for our project) to fix some electric issues there. *The biggest issue was that the initial demolition work was done without considering whether there might be lead in the house. We arranged a lead tester ourselves after the work was started and found out that there was indeed lead, and it was all over the upstairs of the house and in the outside areas surrounding the house. Had we not brought it up the work would have continued and the lead contamination would have spread further into our yard and the surrounding yards. This resulted in a delay to the project and significant stress. To be fair, once Shay was aware of the lead situation, he covered the cost of cleanup and subsequent testing, and he shifted his schedule around to expedite things so that we only ended up being a few weeks late on the project. Overall, we would recommend We Remodel and Build for your home renovation project. These projects are always stressful, but having a partner who is very willing to make it a success really helps. read more

Building a room addition requires time, effort, patience and money. We had been planning on this 1,200 sq ft room addition for a while and felt that 2021 was the right time given the uncertain times we live in. I am so pleased about the work I got done with We Remodel and Build. I was doing a 1000 sq ft AUD, and I had 3 contractors I was speaking with after searching online. One of these contractors was quoting the job at $300,000, and I was feeling pretty frustrated. After talking to my neighbor about my frustrations, she said she worked with We Remodel and Build, and she was really happy with them. She recommended them so much so that I decided to give it a try. Even though it was last minute, I figured what's one more guy? After searching the company online, I found that there were a TON of great reviews, and luckily Shay showed up, even with our limited time. We of course said yes, and he suggested to change something with the structure that ultimately allowed us to save a bunch of money on electricity and plumbing! We had a fairly big yard transformation done, and are very happy in how it turned out. The before pics are when there was an arch attached to the house and grass out front, which we wanted to make a more usable space. All of the work involved with demoing the arch, removing existing soil, and then building a retaining wall, fence, patio, and deck were performed by We Remodel and Build. Additionally, the house painting, lighting installation, and planting were also done by them. Finally, they also demoed the brick fireplace inside of the house (leaving the exterior remaining, per request) and built a new fireplace in its place. Most of the design was actually performed by another company with our input, and then We Build and Remodel implemented that design. Everything ended up turning out the way we wanted it. Shay (project manager / owner) has been great to work with, and is absolutely passionate about ensuring that his customer is happy and is very quick in communication. We had multiple revisions / fixes during the process, as sometimes things weren't up to our expectations, but Shay was quick to have his team make the changes. There were a few times of misunderstanding and resulting frustration, which I think is to be expected of any large project with many moving parts. However, Shay has an honest and true-to-his-word type of character -- this often goes further than having all of the information up front. Additionally, Shay has made it extremely clear that his goal is to be sure that the owner ends up completely satisfied with the work, and went out of his way a number of times to do so. This job was a big learning experience for my wife and I, as this was the first time we had this type of work done. As with other companies we received quotes from, we learned that over communication is key - being extremely explicit about what's desired and providing feedback afterwards. Currently we are doing a kitchen and garage remodel with another general contractor with whom the things are not going on smoothly and there were many issues with quality of work performed. Hence we decided to pull out the garage remodel work from our current contractor and started searching for a good contractor all over again. Our master bathroom had a known leak from home inspection that we knew we had to fix. We just did not know the extent of the damage and what was needed to fix it. After having been burnt by another contractor for a different remodel job wrt timelines and quality of work, we were very hesitant in dealing with contractors in general, having the impression that the whole industry is fraught with people who up-sell at the outset and flatter to deceive. Enter Shay and his crew, he was always honest with his assessment from the start and transparent with the scope of work and deadlines. We did a complete shower remodel, which it turns out was very much needed since after demo, the shower stall did display evidence of extensive water damage from years of use. Shay pivoted quickly, had a reasonable estimate for changes to the scope of work and thankfully was able to spare George's crew who worked at breakneck speed and efficiency to deliver a quality remodel job. My husband and I wanted to remodel our kitchen. We hired Shay and his crew at We Remodel after reading amazing reviews online. We had not great experiences with other contractors on different projects so we felt guarded. Shay came and met with us in our home. He was very easy to talk to and connected well with our goals for our kitchen. Their bid for the contract on our renovation was easily 30,000 under other contractors we were considering. I was worried it was to good to be true. But they were never late (not one time) they worked every single day they were scheduled at our home and they worked full days, sometimes 6 days a week. They were extremely clean and courteous and always considerate of my family as we were living in the house during the renovation. In the end our project which involved removing two load bearing walls started Jan 6 and ended March 12 a total of ten weeks completed right on schedule. I would highly recommend We Remodel and would only use them for my future projects!!! read more

I have been wanting my kitchen upgraded and We Remodel and Build made it happen. I had invited 4 companies to bid on my project and it was We Remodel and Build who had the lowest bid and add ons. The owner Shay had always been welcoming from the very beginning, not a lot of sales talk or sugar coating. I already felt comfortable talking to him, I easily laid out my plan and didn't feel intimidated or underestimated. ( you know how other contractors or companies make you feel like you won't be able to afford to pay, lol but not with Shay!) The project took 6weeks of being unable to cook, with restricted spaces and dust, but with We Remodel and Build, I would like to consider those 6weeks more of a positive experience, than a discomfort, and this is because of the people who report to our house everyday to do the job. From the electrician, the plumber, everyone had been professional, polite, tidy, and with excellent customer service. Of course I will not forget to mention Jorge, the carpenter who had been the trusted person of Shay and myself for the whole project. I saw how dedicated and passionate Jorge does his job. He was very detailed and just like Shay, Jorge would only want what makes the customer happy even if this might add an extra time for him to do. Seeing Jorge and his help buddy in my house everyday for 6weeks made me feel like they're family. I enjoyed watching them build my kitchen up to the last day. They have miracle hands lol. To top it all, I will not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone based on my experience with them. I wish Shay and his team more success in the business.
