It is never easy to lose a loved one. Our loved one passed away in our home, as they had wished,…read morewhich meant that we needed to make arrangements and could not move forward until a funeral home came to our house and helped us with next steps. Likewise our kind local sheriff needed to remain with us until someone arrived. Originally we contacted a funeral home in our area that is well known. We were given an estimated time of arrival of "within the hour." When that time came and passed I called and was given the same estimated time of "within the hour." When I was on my third hour of waiting with our loved one still on the floor where we had tried CPR, and the kind sheriff, patiently waiting, I began to call other funeral homes. I left a message at 2 others then on my third try I contacted "A Serenity Funeral & Cremation Services" and Daniel answered the phone. Despite having a busy morning right from the get-go he was kind, compassionate and forthright. He let me know he was having a busy morning and would do his very best to get there within the hour. He arrived within 30 minutes along with another gentleman. The compassion, tenderness and grace that they showed our loved one and to us, who we're newly grieving was an answered prayer. They reverently allowed us our final goodbyes and had no problem when I wanted to include a special blanket to wrap our loved one in. Daniel sat with us, answered questions and patiently walked us through the process. The kindness and care that Serenity Funeral and cremation services showed us should be a model for the industry. When we finished all the paperwork we realized that "A Serenity" was actually a fraction of the price of what we were going to pay with the locally touted company that continually told me it would be "within the hour." I highly recommend a Serenity Funeral and cremation services. While death is a part of life Daniel from Serenity made us feel as if the loss of our loved one was the most important thing in the world at that moment ..which for us it was. Thank you Daniel. I was a mess when I went to them initially. Gracie was so sweet and gentle with me. I will never forget her patience and gentleness when I made my arrangements. This place has been absolutely awful to deal with, and what was already the hardest time of my life was made even more stressful because of them. I unexpectedly lost my partner after more than 30 years of marriage. There was incorrect information put on the death certificate, and trying to get it corrected was a nightmare. The Inland Memorial Upland location is nearly impossible to get a hold of. I called over and over with no answer and rarely heard back. I eventually had to start calling their other locations just to find someone who would help me. My partner's remains were ready to be picked up and nobody called me. I was the one who had to call and find out they were ready. When I asked why no one had notified me, I was told they were busy. Then the death certificate arrived, which was supposed to be the corrected one, and the same thing happened. Nobody called. I called them and was told, "Oh yeah, we have it here." When I asked why I wasn't notified, once again I was told they were busy. To make matters worse, the certificate STILL wasn't correct. I finally went back to the Upland location in person and spoke with Cesia, who I had already spoken with more than once about this. I explained that I was still dealing with the same issue after everything I had already gone through trying to get it corrected. Her response was, "You have to understand people make mistakes. I'm busy." Of course people make mistakes, but "we're busy" seems to be the excuse for everything at this location. I shouldn't have to chase down a funeral home to find out my partner's remains are ready, find out a death certificate has arrived, or get their mistakes corrected. Every interaction I've had with Cesia has been unpleasant. She is rude, dry and dismissive. When you ask questions, she sounds annoyed and like she doesn't want to be bothered. After reading other reviews and seeing other people mention Cesia by name and describe similar experiences, it's clear I'm not the only person who has experienced this type of treatment. I do want to make it clear that my experience was not the same with everyone at Inland Memorial. Kelly, who works at a different location, was amazing. Out of all the locations I called, she seemed to be the only person I could consistently get a hold of. She never gave me an attitude and was genuinely willing to help. Julie, the supervisor, was also great. She contacted me to resolve the issue before I even had the chance to call her, and she personally delivered the corrected death certificate to my home. I truly appreciated both Julie and Kelly because they showed me the communication and compassion that I should have received from the beginning. My problem is specifically with the Inland Memorial Upland location and the way things were handled there. They are impossible to get a hold of, they don't communicate, and I constantly felt like I had to chase them for information. I am already trying to figure out how to move forward after unexpectedly losing the person I was married to for more than 30 years. The last thing I should have had to do was spend this time chasing down a funeral home. If this review saves even one grieving family from going through the additional stress and aggravation I experienced with the Inland Memorial Funeral Care Upland location, then it was worth writing.

My mother passed away and it has been the most heartbreaking experience of my self as well as families lives. Cesar and his staff were beyond kind and compassionate during this difficult time. They made it so easy and my mom had been in the hospital for some time so she had nails that were brittle. We even asked them if they could maybe make them look presentable for the open casket. They gave her a manicure in her favorite color that was so tasteful. Her presentation was beautiful and it was like looking at her sleeping peacefully. Again while a truly sad experience it helped knowing she was in great care. The space is large and we were able to accommodate many guest with children or those who wished not to step inside the chapel area could retreat for refreshments in the room just adjacent. When we arrived the space was beautiful set up for us again in the colors we chose for our mother's service. We had a slideshow play along with some chosen music. No technical difficulties at all and Tegan who was there to assist us during our wake was so helpful. Any questions she answered right away and was always just steps away if we needed anything. At the end of the wake she even let us assist as we said goodbye closing the casket together. They were also so great the following day for the burial service offering guidance to our pallbearers on what to do and where to go. They offered their condolences and even made announcements for us when we couldn't. We are so grateful for their hospitality and assistance during such a hard time. I can't recommend them enough and it's not about value in terms of cost but value in terms of the care they provided. Cost I imagine ranges differently for everyone depending on what you would like for your loved one but I do feel they were very transparent in their cost breakdown. We did tour another facility that was much more expensive as they are a larger chain in the area and offered less for a similar price point. While we hope we never have to think or bury our loved ones, consider this establishment as you will not be disappointed with the service they provide.
