I knew I found a new local favorite the second I pulled up to Sunset Cove for the first time a few years ago. I had never heard of the spot, but was looking for a coffee while driving back to Massachusetts, and pulled up to find the most gorgeous hidden coffee shop ever. You walk in and they have options for ice cream, coffee, and food. It was still early in the morning, so I only needed coffee, and then I kept walking out toward the back and discovered an outstandingly beautiful patio with views of the ocean. Genuinely my first thought when walking in was that I needed to have my wedding or rehearsal dinner there, it's just that beautiful. There's frequently live music, a lot of people around, great chairs to sit and chat with friends, and even a place to dock your boat if you need to pop in while on the water. Always a great experience and can't wait to be back. The staff and people were extremely kind and made me excited to come back and chat with them more.

This is such a hidden gem along the Portsmouth waterfront! The interior is beautifully renovated with lots of seating, and the outdoor area is expansive with patio seating, bar seating and lawn space for customers to set up their own chairs or blankets. It's also dog friendly so you can bring your whole family to enjoy a lovely day on the water, and their live music outdoors. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, and I loved how fun the bar atmosphere felt. The food and drinks were great - highly recommend the Bubbles Up drinks because they spray a bubble machine when you order!!

    Grill cheese sandwich.

Was not a good experience on July 3rd. My friend and I ordered around noon. Took the beeper and waited outside at table. Friend came back with her meal and my drink - not sandwich. She said there was no sandwich. I went to counter. They were just cooking it kind of saying I did not order it. I did NOT pay $9.27 for a small ice tea. Anyhow the grill cheese was not hot and very flat. I did not eat it. Friend did not like her roast beef sandwich and did not eat it all. And just the day before another friend had breakfast and was not impressed with her Chia Tea and breakfast sandwich. Wish I had listened to her.

    ... lobster roll

Friendly staff, clean inside, and beautiful outside patio area! Had a good breakfast and coffee drink here, but wouldn't recommend the lobster roll. It was odd and on a black bun with avocado? 3 stars just because of the weird lobster roll, otherwise 5. Besides that I would recommend for breakfast with views!

This local coffee spot is nice gem. The waterfront view in the back is also amazing. And kindly staff as well!

Sweet hidden coffee spot! Don't forget to stop by when you're visiting Portsmouth, Rhode Island!

Food was excellent, great service and the ambience was amazing with the life music outside sitting and their new beer just great

    The view

This has got to be one of the cutest coffee shops I've been to and I've been to quite a bit! I absolutely love the positive vibes from all the employees and even hearing their interactions with some of their regulars told me all I needed to know about this lovely little spot. I didn't catch his name but the gentlemen at the front counter was great! He was quick and efficient and even running orders out to people in between taking customers orders. Tons of indoor seating available but my favorite part is the expansive outdoor seating. The view is wonderful! It was just the perfect way to start my day. The cranberry/orange muffin was delicious! Not too dry, yet not too moist - just perfect. I also had a hot vanilla latte which hit the spot. If I lived nearby, I'd make it a weekly habit to jump start my weekend at this wonderful establishment!

    Beautiful hawk flew overhead.

We walked in just after 8 on a Friday night and were greeted by two very friendly young women at the host stand. We opted to sit at a high top table in the lively bar area. Every seat at the bar was taken. Our server was friendly and attentive, and brought our drinks, $8 for a Sam Adams seasonal draft, and $15 for a Bulleit Bourbon Old Fashioned cocktail (which was mixed well and nicely presented, sans the anticipated Luxardo cherry). My friend ordered the Fondue Burger with truffle fries. The burger was cooked perfectly (medium) and smothered with a delicious cheese sauce sprinkled with fresh bacon crumbles - decadent and delicious. The fries are thin and crispy (the best way) and served in one of those cute little metal baskets with just the right amount of truffle. I had the salmon rice bowl which was better than I expected it to be. The fish was fresh and cooked nicely, (medium, although it could have been taken off heat a minute or two earlier, but not what I consider 'overcooked' by any means), and sat atop some very delicious coconut jasmine rice. The bowl also had a heap of zingy red onions, thinly sliced perfectly ripe avocado, a yummy mango salsa, and was drizzled with a very nice cilantro crema. Perfection. I ate the whole thing, felt a bit overstuffed and unable to taste the burger (next time!) I am very happy to report that Pine House Kitchen & Bar got four thumbs up from us, and I look forward to visiting again with family and friends.

I got the tomato jam burger and it was a 10/10- delicious bun and not soggy, great flavor combo, and came with good fries and the best pickle I've had in a while! My toddler enjoyed the chicken and waffles and my husband had the truffle mushroom pizza and fondue burger. Can't speak to those dishes because I didn't try them, but everyone ate well and was satisfied, which isn't easy with young kids sometimes! It was slow when we went (Monday early afternoon), but environment was calm and country music was playing at a good volume-enough to hear but not blasting. Will return in the future!

This family owned distillery and blending house make delicious cocktails for every pallet type. We had a large group, so there were a lot of cocktails flowing, but the stand out one seems to be the South Side, a gin based drink which had the perfect balance of sweet and citrus. They don't take reservations but since we went at a time right before dinner on a Sunday (there were 15 of us!) we had the place almost to ourselves. Well, a new place that specializes in craft cocktails is right up my alley. We walked across, found the door, and entered. I was really impressed with the interior space. It was cool and dark. Lots of places to sit with a small bar area where everything is made. The cocktail book is large and has a variety of offerings for every palate. The bartenders were very helpful to our friends who are new to craft cocktails. They stick with vodka martinis. I started with a paper plane, which was very well-made. I then tried one of their specials, the Fig Leaf Old Fashioned, which was fabulous. Everyone had a fabulous time, and we will definitely be back to try some of the Absinthe recipes. I hope my fellow Yelpers support a new cocktail place. We need more of them.

My initial visit was on a Monday night when they had all kinds of cheese specials for $10. Including a delicious cheese pizza. Unfortunately, that's where things started going downhill. It took 30 minutes before anyone even took our drink orders. During that time we weren't offered water, bread, or asked if we had any questions. Drinks, which were just water and soft drinks, took another 15 minutes to arrive. Around 8:45 our server finally came to take our food order and told us the kitchen had asked her to wait before putting it in. By that point, one person in our group had already left to get Wendy's because he was tired of waiting. Once we finally ordered, there were still no drink refills. We asked for waters for the table and were brought five glasses with, "I have five waters, who wants one?" We had 17 people. It was just kind of unbelievable. Our food didn't come out until almost two hours after we arrived. By then everyone was hungry and thirsty. There were two kids in our group, and it would have been nice if their meals had at least come out earlier. Or bring us bread or something to hold us over. We also had to ask for salt and pepper because there wasn't any on the table. They brought one set for all 17 of us. We asked for another and eventually got one more set. I understand large parties can be challenging, but if the restaurant can't handle a reservation that size, it probably shouldn't accept it. The one positive was our server. She was very nice and seemed to be doing the best she could. I really wish I could say the food made up for the wait, but it was just average. Nothing was bad, but nothing was memorable either. Overall, it was a really disappointing experience.

Enchanting. If you…read morehave not been to The Franklin in Bristol, go! Open for just over a year, The Franklin is the newest inspiration from the owners of Groundswell... and stepping through its doors feels a little like falling down the rabbit hole into a wonderfully grown-up, decidedly French Wonderland. But what enchanted us most about The Franklin is that nothing about it suggests this kind of dining should be reserved for a special occasion. Quite the opposite. This is simply how dinner should be. You dine by the flicker of real candlelight, surrounded by a moody French Arts & Crafts-inspired interior with floral-spun linens and eclectic china, where flowers, pattern, texture, and shadow conspire to create something wonderfully transporting. It is romantic, eccentric, intimate and beautiful, but also remarkably comfortable. The effect is one of permission to settle in, put away the distractions, order another glass, and actually enjoy the increasingly rare pleasure of a long dinner and uninterrupted conversation with the person across the table. And THEN the feast begins. This is French cuisine as it was meant to be experienced: decadent without being excessive, luxurious without being heavy. There is a reverence here for food and its preparation by people who clearly love their craft; the ingredients, the techniques, and the rituals and traditions of preparing and serving a beautiful meal. Our evening began simply and perfectly with a bread basket and sweet cream butter. Then came the truffle croquettes, little bites of tarragon forward indulgences. The filet mignons were superb, accompanied by beautiful boulangère potatoes, rich, deeply satisfying and exquisitely prepared. And because the special truffle and lamb pastas sounded too glorious to pass up, we ordered each to go to enjoy for dinner the next day. Because no proper trip through Wonderland should end without cheese, we finished with a cheese plate that included local cheeses, honeycomb, and drunken fruits along with cappuccinos for dessert. The drinks deserve their own chapter. Our choices: Champagne, an elderflower apéritif, The Franklin Manhattan, and a beautiful Sangiovese were each superb, complementing the flavors of the meal. And through it all, the service was exceptional. The servers are consummate hospitality professionals... knowledgeable, intuitive and gracious, with that increasingly rare quality of people who not only excel at what they do, but genuinely delight in doing it. You get the remarkable sense that they take as much pleasure in presenting each course as you do in discovering it. AND, they speak freely and warmly of their employers' excellent treatment of them, which clearly contributes to the spirit of the entire experience-- VISION LEAKS!!! And perhaps that is what The Franklin gets so wonderfully right. Somewhere along the way, we began treating a long, beautiful dinner as an extravagance reserved for anniversaries and celebrations. The Franklin makes you remember that it doesn't have to be. Dinner itself can be the occasion. Real candles should flicker on the table. Linen should feel beautiful beneath your hands. Unique plates should be uncovered as you enjoy your dish. Drinks should arrive in lovely glasses. Dinner should unfold slowly. Food should be prepared with reverence. Service should feel like an old friend welcoming you to their table. And you should look across at your dinner partner and realize that there is nowhere else you would rather be. The Franklin is a little mysterious, a little romantic, a little eccentric, thoroughly French and completely enchanting. But more than anything, it reminds you of something we seem to have forgotten: a beautiful dinner doesn't need an occasion. A beautiful dinner is the occasion. We happily disappeared down the rabbit hole. We intend to do so again very soon.
