5 Stars for exceptional coffee and food that will bring these RI visitors back before we head back to FL. The weather was nice, so we chose to sit out back under the lovely umbrellas and look over the water. They also have adirondack chairs set out, so I imagine it would be a lovely spot for a cocktail and a chat with friends! Our server, Lena, was a DREAM and helped us make our choices. I got a seasonal latte while my partner got the medium-roast pourover coffee. Having had a hard time finding really great coffee recently, we were soooo impressed. They clearly take their coffee program seriously (and now I realize the name should have tipped me off!). The food was equally impressive. It legitimately didn't have to be as good as it was (lol). The yogurt bowl on any menu is usually "meh," but we gave it a try since we wanted some non-meat protein and I am SO glad we did. It was the best yogurt bowl I've ever had- no contest. The whole milk yogurt was creamy; the strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries were ripe; the honey and granola added crunch and some floral sweetness; and the best part was the raspberry preserves they pipe on top. I wish I could recreate this at home! We also loved the lemon poppyseed loaf with blueberry preserves and cream. Wow! What an awesome addition to Wickford Village. My husband and I went for an early dinner on a weeknight. When we first arrived there was a small crowd at the bar and we sat in the dining room. By the time we left, every seat was taken! They have a small menu that they are constantly switching up with what is in season with the exception of a few menu staples like the smash bruger. The interior has a Scandinavian/farm house influence and is really beautifully done. You get a focaccia of the day, our's was rosemary and grape. Super intersting and tasty. We also tried the zuchinni bread and while delicious to me I would have been happy just sticking with the focaccia. We also got the braised lamb which was very good and the halibut. The fish was excellent it was perfectly cooked, beautifully seasoned, and had a lovely fresh veggie salad to accompany it. We were too full to go for dessert or a dessert espresso martini. But will have to give both a try in the future. As the weather starts to warm up they do also have some patio tables outside. read more

We were not planning on eating at Press, but wandering around Wickford brought us in last week. We had a spot at the bar (all tables were reserved) and had a really fine meal. The heirloom tomato appetizer was excellent, the Oysters Rockerfeller were some of the best I've had, although I wish they used a bit bigger oysters, and my smash burger was outstanding. The gentlemen behind the bar was also very good. My wife had a lamb dish which she enjoyed and a nice cocktail to go with it all. The owner(?) said hi on our way out with genuine concern to ensure our meal met expectations. This was our first, but certainly not last time coming to Press for a nice dinner. This is such a gem in Wickford. From the newspaper style menu - made from a letterpress? The restaurant is named after those, so I wouldn't be surprised - to the absolutely DELICIOUS food and drinks, my husband and I were immediately won over. The space is small and intimate. They do have a great patio when the weather warms up, which will provide more seating. There's a bar and a coffee bar. Their espresso martinis are made with fresh pressed espresso to order, and overall their cocktail menu seems like it would fit in Manhattan. I was pleasantly surprised to see nonalcoholic options as well (my husband doesn't drink and I'm currently pregnant). The food is so so good. We got a tomato bisque, which I loved because it tasted fresh and wasn't too sweet; zucchini bread with ricotta that was as picture worthy as it was delightful; mushroom risotto, and spatzle. The spatzle (a kind of pasta) had guanciale, which we learned is like crispy pork belly. It was a 10/10 for my husband. I had to take half of my risotto home because I got so full, but it was just as delicious the next day. Our server was very kind, and another person named Sheryl (I think - it was a couple of weeks ago and I have brain fog) was a delight to talk to! You can tell the staff enjoys working there. Very pleasant, very relaxing restaurant/bar in Wickford and a nice higher-end dining option of which there are too few. Attractive clean interior and there's a patio area by the water which will be a popular spot come summer season. We started with their Oysters Rockefeller (delicious and decadent with a very good bechamel and garlicky breadcrumbs); the Oysters Loaded (delicately flavored, with a crème fraiche and caviar topping); and an eggplant campanata (which was easily the best of the apps! Great grilled polenta bed and wonderfully tasty roasted eggplant and other vegetables). (Our server told us the chefs were formerly with Matunuck Oyster Bar which explains the excellence of these dishes.). I had the duck cassoulet which had a good crispy skin and lean meat; the braised white beans were delicious. My daughters each had the goat cheese and fig jam hamburger which they thought was quite good. My wife had a tomato soup and Caesar salad which she thought was good but not great. For dessert there was only one choice: homemade cookies with ice cream. While good and able to satisfy the sweet tooth I was hoping for other options. Service was warm and considerate. read more

Came here with my mom for a rainy day lunch and WOW. Thankfully we ordered with our head and not our stomach, because we were perfectly full. We shared the Caesar and meatballs and each got a hot espresso drink. The styling and thoughtfulness put into this space is absolutely breath taking. The attention to detail is astounding, we were commenting on everything from the light fixtures to the water pitchers! Nancy, our server, was so attentive and personable! The owners did a beautiful job with the design of the place. The salads were ridiculously expensive (60.00 before tip for 2 and not worth it. ). We didn't even get drinks. We will be back for just coffee or a beer, but after the third time here for lunch , I can't help but feel ripped off every time. Service was fine and ambience is very nice. read more

I had made reservations for my family of eight for this past Sunday. I had had a bit of miscommunication with Jarred the manager, but he graciously accommodated our requests and everything from service to food to ambience was top-notch. Came here on a gorgeous summer evening. We were quite a bit early but they were able to seat us outside, which has a lovely serene view of the water. Our waiter was friendly and informative. The tuna dumplings were delicious and the Mujaddara was phenomenal. Dessert was scrumptious, too. The smash burger was solid but nothing in comparison to the rest of the meal. read more

This is a very cute restaurant. I love the look of their coffee bar. Service was good, and everyone was friendly. We tried quite few things tonight as this was our first visit. I love their Zucchini bread with herbed whipped ricotta. Charcuterie was nice with good varieties of dry meat and cheese. I ordered duck breast for my entree. Duck breast itself was good, but I wish it was on an entree plate instead of small plate. Potato au gratin was missing on this plate. After I asked the server, she brought some duck fat potatoes for me. I wish I would know they don't have potato au gratin before they brought the plate and before I asked for it. Besides this, everything was good. Red cabbage for duck breast was really good too. This is a restaurant I will recommend people to try. read more

New spot in Wickford, just in time to enjoy the Holiday atmosphere and spirit that this little town dresses into each Christmas season. There is also a Brunch service here most days of the week, but we came for Dinner. The special Fish of the Day on our visit was Fluke. This flounder was sautéed and finished with brown butter, and served with a side of green peas and cucumber flowers. The fluke was very nice, lightly crumbed, if slightly over done. Very nice dish. The peas were sweet, very sweet peas, and I think I tasted a flavor of maple. It would not surprise me to learn that maple syrup had been incorporated in the preparation, it wasn't needed, the peas were sweet on their own. We also had the Steak of the Day, a rib-eye steak, broiled and served with a compound butter. It was a very tasty steak, again slightly over, but still a beautiful tender juicy cut of beef. The disc of herb butter was probably a little too cold, and did not melt into the sauce that was likely intended. The steak did not suffer for it, plenty of lovely steak drippings on our plate to enjoy. The wine list also deserves a mention. 4 pages of carefully chosen wines, and more from small wineries than is typical in restaurant menus these days. Kudos, and we were very happy to find a nice bottle of grower Champagne at a very reasonable cost. The staff was great, especially for a newly opened spot. Not a single step out of place. I can't say enough good things about Press. I've been for brunch and dinner multiple times. They have a smaller menu but everything and I mean everything on it is delicious. Some favorites are the salmon toast, mussels, oysters multiple ways, and don't sleep on dessert. They also have what I would argue is one of the best bartenders around and great specialty cocktails. Absolutely wonderful staff. Highly recommend. Also just a super cute setting inside and out. read more

Press is our long awaited new neighborhood hangout. Born out of the space of a delightful retail store in an old house on the water, its owners have done an excellent job transforming the property into a Parisian inspired neighborhood gem. The menu is small but seasonal and carefully curated. Whatever you order, three things stand out -- flavor, freshness and creativity -- from a simple sounding cheeseboard to a cheeseburger to small plates, its new level. House Cocktails are refreshing while old favorites are recreated with curated ingredients. Chili and cinnamon covered bacon in a Bloody Mary? Five Farms Irish Cream rather than impossibly sweet Bailey's in an espresso martini? Sign me up. I can hardly wait to taste their spin on biscuits and gravy tomorrow because yes, they do brunch also. read more

Visited for brunch on April 25th around 1:15 PM with my wife. We were looking forward to trying out Press and ordered our food with the intention of enjoying it outside. We were informed that outdoor seating was available, but only for takeout orders until May. That was totally fine with us, and we appreciated the clarity. However, when my biscuit and gravy takeout order was being handed to me, I noticed the manager walking outside and serving plated food to guests. Naturally, I was confused--especially since we had just been told outdoor seating was limited to takeout only. I asked the manager about this, but instead of an explanation, he walked away without responding. I returned inside to ask if I could at least have a plate to eat my meal more comfortably outside and was told, unfortunately, no. So I walked home to get a plate so I could put my biscuit and sausage gravy on it so I could eat it. I understand the restaurant is still getting into its groove, and we genuinely want to support local spots--especially new ones. The food itself had potential, and I'd love to come back and try it again under smoother circumstances. Hopefully, the service side gets more consistent as they settle in. read more

It's good to have another restaurant in Wickford. I would suggest expansion of the menu, since the menu is a bit too limited for me. My husband enjoyed his entree. My fish was drowning in a butter sauce. I liked the flavor, but too much of a good thing spoiled the dish for me. Service was okay. The building appeared to be newly remodeled and very clean but tight. An outdoor dining area appeared to offer more space for dining. Had dinner at Press for the first time and the food and experience were outstanding. From the greeting from Sheila the hostess to our server and the runner whose names I can't remember we were treated in a special way. The cocktails were interesting and generous. Lovely atmosphere and wonderfully friendly staff. The criticisms I have are offered in the context of this being a new place-we really enjoyed our breakfast! First, the coffee is "pour over" so each cup is brewed individually and can take a while as a result, but it makes for a great cup of coffee. The coffee was served in a bistro glass which was the same kind of glass in which our water was served-we would have preferred more of a coffee mug. We had the bacon and egg breakfast sandwich and asked for aioli on the side. Instead, we got aioli on the side AND on the sandwich. Our server recommended the zucchini bread and she was right-it was unlike any zucchini bread we have had and it was wonderful! About the pricing, when we go to our favorite cosy coffee spot in Narragansett and have a breakfast sandwich, a pastry and two cups of coffee, it comes out to half as much as it did for the same combo at Press! But again, the ambience was charming and the service very friendly with good coffee and fresh food. read more
