From the moment we walked in, loud club-style music was blasting, and the atmosphere felt more like a nightclub than an upscale waterfront restaurant. The bar took 30 minutes just to get drinks, and once we were seated, the music was so loud we couldn't even have a conversation. For an upscale restaurant, the ambiance was completely off and not what you expect at all. The food was honestly awful for a place at this price point. My chicken was dry and overcooked, and the rice was a mushy clump I had to cut with a fork just to eat. The only bright spot was our server, who was great despite the disorganization around her. I stopped into Morgan's Cantina for a drink and a quick snack while out on my motorcycle on this great spring afternoon. I sat at the bar and ordered a spicy margarita with Ghost Tequila, jalapeños, and a tajín rim. I also got the chips and salsa. The drink was excellent. The bartender nailed it. Good balance, right amount of heat, and well made. She was also great to talk to and made the experience even better. The chips and salsa were solid. The chips were fresh and the salsa had good flavor and seasoning. Good first stop. I will be back to try dinner and give a more in depth review. read more

I finally got the opportunity to try Morgan's Cantina and I enjoyed the restaurant very much. The service was fantastic and the waitstaff were incredibly friendly. The view was the best part of the experience! Over looking the Taunton River and the Borden Lighthouse was beautiful. Everyone only sees the bad part of the city but this little gem reminds people of the good parts on the waterfront tucked in a little corner. The property is very well maintained as well and connected to other business you can enjoy after dinner. For dinner I picked a margarita with salt on the rocks with chicken tacos. They were delicious. The drink was perfect and the food excellent. I am looking forward to returning to definitely try other items on the menu. What a great way to enjoy the 4th of July before the fireworks! read more

I really wanted to love this place. It's a cute new venue to eat in Fall River (where non-Portuguese food is limited). The interior is beautiful and trendy. They play great music and it appears that they even have a spot for a live dj. Bar is beautiful, drinks are fresh and creative. However, the service is incredibly disjointed. Kitchen consistently makes errors (see the overcooked steak pictured that was ordered medium). I despise sending food back so tonight is the first time I have complained to staff despite a few lack-luster dining experiences. Most dishes I've had at this establishment have been cold/overcooked. Some sides forgotten. No compensation from upper management despite the food coming out wrong TWICE in one dining experience. She did not stay to watch me cut into my meat a second time to assess the preparation, nor did she circle back. I've ordered: chicken fajita, steak fajita (pictured), steak frites (ordered tonight, not pictured). I will say that the staff behind the bar is overwhelmingly nice. I am familiar with Borden Light Marina as I had a boat there in the early 1990's. This was our first visit to Morgans Cantina and we both ordered the short ribs with Mac & Cheese. One of the Best rib steak I have ever had anywhere. Done perfectly. The atmosphere was very well done in Mexican motif and the service was great. Wonderful view of the upper Mt Hope Bay. My expectations were high given their instagram and social media, but I left leaving disappointed. Ambiance is great, very cute. Cocktails were delish! I would definitely come here for just cocktails again- however the food is where this place lost 2 stars. The ceviche, you had to DIG for the bottom to find a few pieces of fish; it was overly loaded with veggies. The tacos were bland, lacked flavor, and the steak was good, but not something where I left and felt like I needed to have it again. My husband and I tried Morgan's for the first time this past weekend. First, it's beautiful inside! The decor is wonderful. The views of the water also add to the atmosphere. I felt like I was on Cape, rather than in Fall River. For drinks we both wanted a spicy margarita but also pineapple, and while it wasn't on the menu, they were able to make it happen and it was delicious! The food was delicious- we got appetizers and tacos. The service was excellent. I want to especially thank them for being mindful of my husband being blind, and using words of where they were placing his drink and meal in front of him. It's a huge help and rare, so we appreciate that so much. We will be back! read more

What I thought was going to be a quaint upscale Mexican restaurant turned into a loud, obnoxious, club vibe. We were there for Cinco De Mayo, very busy as expected. We had a reservation at 6:15 but were not seated until 7:05. We sat at the bar to wait for our table and It took 30 minutes to get attention from the bartender to get a beverage. Once seated we could not hold a conversation because of the club music playing so loudly! I mean club music on a Mexican holiday!?!? The server was the only good part of this visit. read more

Morgan is also not a latin name so maybe we should have known? It's actually very nice, upscale for sure. I can see this as a nice little date night spot for drinks (only). But on a Friday night at 8pm it was pretty dead. Although it is the holiday season so could just be the night. The margaritas were okay, got a spicy marg and it really was just okay. The drinks that Josh the bar back made were great. He was super friendly and made some off menu creative drinks, and those were much better than the menu items. Definitely should put his stuff on special at least. The reason I give 2 starts only is the food. Now, obviously you are paying for the decor, ambiance, etc. but it's Fall River. These are the prices I see up by me in Providence. However it's providence and it is accompanied by great food. The food here was anything but great. As Latin people we truly love Mexican food and this didn't have anything authentic except the names of the menu items. Example, tacos that come with rice and beans, but the $27 fajitas do not. Instead they come with an entire bag of grocery store bagged shredded cheese and lettuce. Had to send the steak back bcs it was extremely well done. While I do like rare steak, I was not asked how I wanted it cooked, therefore assumed it would be medium like most steak fajitas. Truly well done to the point it could not be chewed. While it did come back cooked to my liking, there was simply no flavor whatsoever. The tortillas were nothing more than store bought Mission flour tortillas that were cold and dry again taken right out of the bag and thrown onto a plate. Big disappointment here. read more

Birthday celebration Pros: restaurant is beautiful inside. Got to see the sunset from our seats. Decor is on point. I love the green chairs. Hostess was personable and sat us upon entering. Our waitress Samantha was very attentive and nice. Food- my husband had the chicken enchiladas and they were very tasty. Lots of cheese the way I like it and the mole was delightful. Drinks were creative and very very good. Espresso martini was lovely. Churros were to die for!!! Cons: chips and salsa is usually complimentary and they were not here. I found the chips stale and dry. A little expensive for salsa and chips. I was psyched to see tuna ceviche on the menu but the tuna was somewhat tasteless when eating it. I had the El Pastor tacos and the pork was completely dry and salty. I was so hoping that this place would wow me but I think my expectations were a little too high. We were served the wrong plate twice. The food was cold and the young man who ran the food had the worse attitude. You would think he'd be apologetic but he acted like we were at fault. It has to be the poorest prepared and Tasteless Tacos I ever had Started with the Al Pastor yes that dish needs a Pastor to say a prayer over it before they bury it. Not exaggerating of this dried out flavorless pork with a pineapple sauce over it that did not bring it in life presented on a 2in hockey puck that I am not sure we're they found. Also on the plate was rice that was made yesterday dried out and crunchy and pinto beans right from Cambell can I am serious this was a very sad excuse for Mexican Please please LISTEN There is a family run Mexican Reseraunt chain that might be able to save your place from disaster. First, this place is new and we were there at lunch. We will be back to try again after they have been open for a while. Pro's Beautiful view, beautiful restaurant and very fresh food Con's Many Mexican restaurants chips and salsa are complimentary. This was $9 and the salsa from a grocery store is much better. We got the fajita flight.. steak was very tasty. The shrimp and chicken were good. The serving skillet was warm at best, so food wasn't that hot. Ambiance - so very pretty inside. Service was very good, especially for being open less than a week. The chef is excellent from a different restaurant so I was beyond happy they opened. I'm being honest here, and I might try again but not really sure. The fajitas (steak) were very tough and had no flavor. Shocker! There was no side accompanying the meal. If you want beans or rice you have to purchase alacarte. The steak fajitas priced at $28, add the beans $7 and rice $6. You're looking at $41 if you want what most Mexican restaurants give you as a meal package. The chicken enchiladas were ok. The rice and beans were inclusive, but just ok. Bland rice and beans were nothing to brag about. I would say it's not a kid friendly restaurant, but you can decide. I'm only giving stars at all because the space is absolutely beautiful and the tortilla chips were good. Our margaritas took a while to get to us but the drink itself was not good, sadly probably the worst margarita I've had. The salsa should be served in something one can actually dip the chip into because it's watery on the plate and you can't actually scoop anything onto the chip. The guacamole did not taste like fresh smashed avocados and the evidence of that was the plastic I found IN my bite of guacamole. Our meals were low quality and extremely underwhelming. Overall very expensive considering the low quality of the entire experience- aside from the aesthetics of the space. You are paying for their beautiful space people NOT the food or drinks! We went on a Saturday and service was a bit slow, but the waitstaff was very nice. The drinks were decent.... Nothing special other than they were able to get a decent head on my espresso martini The food arrived with our tortillas for the fajita cold. Warm ones were eventually brought out. The dish was basic, but good. The steak was good, not fatty. The bad: We ordered the Verde bowl and added steak to it. When the bill came, we were surprised to see the charge for the dish was $19, and the add on of steak was $16, making this dish $35!! When I questioned the staff, they agreed this was an issue and blamed the pricing on the computer system... what a shame.... We really wanted to like this place, but the fact they did not rectify this was enough to send us packing. A decent meal, but the pricing was way off. read more

Our first time at Morgan's Cantina. Ambiance was excellent great view. Service was good and friendly. Guacamole was delicious but $19 pricy. Margaritas were $13 and not served in proper margarita glassware it was served in a 6oz glass loaded with ice. We had a steak taco plate and a chicken taco plate we did not like either one, steak was overcooked and spices did not taste good, chicken didn't taste good either, the rise was just ok, the beans were good. Food needs major improvement. We both like Mexican cuisine but this was definitely not it. read more

We started out with an appetizer that was a sorry excuse for queso fundido. If you like a one inch pool of chorizo grease floating on top of coagulated cheese, then you're in luck. Aside from the queso, our tacos were bland, the side of rice was chewy and undercooked (also bland) and portions were not impressive. This wasn't necessarily a problem for us though, seeing how we couldn't even finish the little amount we were served. I do wish we tried a few different menu items so I could give them a more fair review, but tacos and queso should be undoubtedly GOOD if you're serving Mexican food. The staff were so lovely- we felt too bad to even complain to them. Drinks were good too! But until the food is tweaked, we will not be returning. My friends and I were so excited for a more upscale Mexican dining experience, but I was wishing we had just settled for Fiesta instead.
