Bought a F150 Raptor in December 2025. Sales was great, Financing was great. If service is important to you STAY AWAY!! 6 months later check engine light comes on. Ford App says "The powertrain control system is unable to detect the actual position for one of the exhaust flow control valves and requires service." Plus it is time for an oil change. Schedule for a Saturday, because I have to work. Service calls and cancels because they don't do diagnostic on Saturdays. Reschedule for a Friday. Drop off at 8AM on Friday and get a rental car because... I have to work. No updates on the truck all day. Text service at 5 pm inquiring if the truck is ready. Was told no they hope to have it ready on Saturday. Ok so now two days rental car expense. On Saturday service text me to update me that the technician was working on the diagnostic ( I thought they didn't do diagnostic on Saturday). I said thanks and went on about my day. A couple of hours later I was told the problem (which is what the Ford app told me originally) and that the part would be there Tuesday. Enterprise has already charged me over $160 for two days rental now they need the truck for 3 more days? I inquired about the rental fees and was told I could pick up my truck and bring it back Tuesday. No offer to cover the expense! Do they think people have time to just go back and forth and wait? I picked up my truck and will not go back!! A "free oil change" essentially cost me $160 in rental car fees. The check engine light was not fixed. So essentially there two days for an oil change! Actually took the vehicle back two weeks later on Wednesday. Didn't hear anything from this service department. Contacted them on Thursday and was told the part was not ordered and they were putting a rush on it to have it completed on Thursday. read more

We had our car in for the brakes not working at the Honda dealer next door where we bought it. The did the work, and it came down to thw ABS module, but the Warranty department wanted pressure readings, which the Snap On scan tool isnt capable of. They came to Sunset Ford and told them what was going on and Sunset Ford told Raidon Honda the issue was likely the ABS module. So we bring the car to Sunset for diagnostics and their response is nobody knows how to bleed the brakes properly and they believe a system flush(which was done before being brought into Honda and Honda did it as well), and they want diagnostic fees for us to get our car, or they want to to flush the system and 500 to a grand. Replace the master cylinder which has already been done, and then flush the system again for another couple thousand. Then more steps to do things that have NOTHING to do with brakes going to the floor. They admitted what the issue was to Honda and they are trying get another 7 to 8 grand because the warranty wont cover redoing work. Which rightly so. They are scamming a disabled veteran. This is a KNOWN issue with Ford TSB, they excuse is well the NHTSA orders to resolve the issue for free and replace the booster and abs module expired in November of 2025 so therefore that cant be the issue. That 2 ASE certified master techs at another location, Honda Rairdon techs, and myself and my son who have been working on cars for years until we moved where we cant even add windshield washer fluid all agree the brakes were bled properly. Its standard procedure on ANY scan tool. The procedure is outline in the Ford TSB for this issue, but they claim nobody can do this but Ford. read more

Took my truck in because blower motor would only work on high speed the told me it was the blower motor and they replace it next day it was the same way service techs dont check it after they are done cost me almost cost me a thousand dollars and that was not the problem took it back they spent two days and found out the it was not the blower motor it is a hvac module and wanted me to pay about the same price for when nothing was wrong with my blower motor service manger really has no customer skills to be in that position just asking for the right thing to do your mistake just replace your screw up i will not recommend taking your vehicle there they take your money and if it is they want you to spend more on there mistake read more

I went there to get a honest service call. Simple change oil and fuel filter. What a scam. Service advisor Alex came into service area and informed me i needed a new cab filter and battery was low. Total up sales scam. They just replaced them 3 months ag miles away from o. I guess you should check your records before you scam someone. The next thing that happened is when i paid my unrealistic high bill, i got on freeway, and the water accumulator warning light came on, I went back in and the service rider didn't know what to say, the supervisor had this comment if he got the fuel filter changed here then they forgot to plug it incorrectly, I was thinking the service writer wanted to up charge me to fix his own mistake. I requested a transmission FLUSH, refill and filter replacement for my vehicle. Sunset Ford performed a transmission DRAIN, refill and filter replacement. A FLUSH and refill removes all 16 quarts of transmission fluid whereas a DRAIN and refill only removes 9 quarts. Their charges for the DRAIN were $300 higher than other Ford dealers in the area, The price the Service Department charged for parts was 25% higher than the retail price of the parts at their Parts Department. read more

Sunset Ford "repaired" my heated seat months ago, but it was never fixed and they never called me back to finish the job. After nine months, I reached out myself and they charged me a second diagnostic fee, only to say they couldn't reproduce the issue. When I picked up my truck, I immediately saw a quarter-sized hole in the driver's seat. Scott, the advisor, spoke to me in a condescending tone, and Justin, the manager, tried to blame me even though I hadn't even gotten into the truck yet. Bought my truck here and brought it in for service according to Ford service. However, at one point they did not perform a recommended service even though I always stated to do whatever is needed. It voided the "warranty for life." Not surprisingly, I found another person with the exact same issue! And, the exact same service neglected. I think this is a scam. So first problem I had was when I bought my 2022 Ford Explorer Timberline. I originally wanted the ST model but the guy told me he couldn't sell the ST because there was a recall on it. Come to find out the Timberline had the same exact recall so how does that make sense. The nail in the coffin is was during my last oil change. I noticed the engine cover was missing before the oil change so brought this up. They tried to tell me that they don't come with covers and when I showed them where they hook up to they told me it's an extra that can be purchased lol. Not realizing I seen the cover on there before and it just disappears. Only place who has ever touched anything on that vehicle is there service department. Worse part is I vaguely remember them calling me and telling me a year or so ago that they forgot to put it on and that they would put it back next oil change. No one calls back. This last call taker takes on a very condescending tone about my request like I am stupid or something. Do NOT buy any vehicle, new or used, from these people! The sales department is overly pushy like any dealership but the finance department and service is the absolute worst! The finance department knowingly sold us an "84" month extended service contract but in all reality it was less than 48 months usable time on a used Raptor. They never answer their phones or call back when they say they will. The service department will never communicate anything with you. It took them over 6 months to get a windshield wiper blade in, but when I went in they had it for 5 months just never bothered to call and let me know. The service advisors are always angry and I never actually talked with my advisor it was always someone else. They also wanted my truck for 1 day and it turned into a week with no call or offer of a rental for the first 2 days. I sat in the lobby and watched as the check in clerk came and told 2 customers that were before me that their lug nuts were frozen and it would cost $163 to cut them off. The clerk came up to me and declared my lug nuts we frozen and they would have to cut them off. So am I to understand that 75 to 80% of customers lug nuts are frozen so I will not be having work done there EVER!!! read more

Purchased a F150 Roush Raptor a few years back and they we're not at all honest with me about the Compass Warranty claiming it was bumper to bumper, which I have later found that is not at all the case. Dishonest and untrustworthy has been my experience at Sunset Ford Service. I hoped things had changed because I like Ford products but unfortunately, the same type of dishonesty prevails at Sunset Ford Service. On 1-24-24, I booked my new Ford's 1st oil change & tire rotation and the soonest I could get in was 2-9-24 at 9:00AM. We always mark tires due to unethical mechanics in the past. I dropped it off at 8:55 AM and was told it would take 1-2 hours. After waiting all day, I called at 4PM and left a message with Leah Hummell, the Service Rep. She called me back at 4:30 PM and said they were finishing up the work. Upon checking out, I noticed they did not rotate the tires. I was not given a "Vehicle Health Report" and was told they are not giving them out anymore due to the cost of paper. I requested to get one so I can keep records. The report stated rotation was needed. The mechanic insisted he rotated the tires as he just had it up on the hoist. I was told they had a new computer system and only 1 mechanic because the other mechanic walked out last week. I was told the mechanic was honest and I could trust him. I showed Leah my marks on the tires. I requested my tires get rotated so he did that work then claiming he must have missed it being too busy. I am not sure if the oil and filter were changed so I am bringing it to another mechanic. I was told I can trust Sunset Ford, however, actions speak louder than words. There is a pattern of dishonest behavior. I would also recommend to not complete any surveys Sunset Ford sends after the service because they appear to be manipulative appearing like they are coming from the national Ford organization as Elena Ford appears to send it to ensure good customer service to improve the bad reputation Ford Dealerships have earned lately for service. Don't fall for it. It is some type of automated system that alerts the Service department so they can find out if you are going to write bad review on Google so they can apologize for the lack of service and honesty, rather than change their dishonest operating procedures. A few years ago, Sunset Ford Service Rep Michael Senseman told me I had a transmission leak after my warranty was over, which was not true as two other local mechanics said the vehicle passed the pressure test and that the Sunset Ford mechanic sprayed oil all over the area to make me believe there was a leak. Mr. Senseman and the mechanic wanted me to bring it in when they both were working for some reason only known to them. I was charged a lot of money to change fluid required after 50,000 miles. Mr. Senseman told me it was expensive because they had to remove the engine to access the plug. The other mechanics showed me how easy it was to access the plug without removing the engine. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to see all evidence. I never went back until recently hoping things had changed, but it appears nothing has changed at Sunset Ford Service. Dishonest and untrustworthy. We took our truck there for an oil change and to have our brakes checked. Our oil change was included in our maintenance agreement, and we were still charged for it. Our brakes were never checked, but we were given a receipt that stated they were. I'm still waiting for the call back from the service manager that we were promised. Service dept employee Danny Has very little to customer service knowledge or neglects to use it. I called about a warranty replacement for my rear camera and was called back a few days later that there was no resemble for the camera, however they will replace my camera with the oem camera. This worked for me for the time being as it's a west and tear recal. When I came in after waiting on the schedule for a month I was told they won't be replacing it and Danny didn't even know if they had any available. When I asked about it being connected to the recap he laughed and said "no, that makes no sense". Took a jeep patriot that was purchased from sunset in for a check-up as the vehicle was running rough. After a 4 week wait, they called back with a $3000+ price tag to repair. The owner is my sweet mother in law who would have paid this repair bill had i not stepped in. Drove it to autozone, tested as a misfire, looked at spark plugs, one was in half. $20 fix in less than 10 minutes. Jeep is fine. I called and asked sunset ford why a $1000 oil pan gasket was necessary to fix the jeep, not to mention the other things they said was wrong. I was told, im not the customer, they dont have to take any lip from me, and they hung up. Thats my one and only experience with these shady, money grabbing, hurt older ladies kinda people. I bought my F150 here in 2017. I knew I was buying a truck, and as a woman, only a guy in parts (Clay) took me seriously when I first walked in. While I don't think I got the best deal ever (I'm not a person who haggles), I walked out with a nice truck I was excited about. I did a service loaner (beat up Ford Focus which was kind of a joke) for when they got my spray in bed liner done. I got another (decent Expedition) when they fixed a recall. They used to have shuttle service (no longer due to COVID) which I used and found the kid driving helpful. I went to oil changes for life class. Loved it. It was a fun Saturday morning and I even won a prize. The oil changes themselves have been decent. Scheduling has been really easy if you call in, the online system less so, so my advice is to call. Service advisors are ok -- really depends who you get. Worst one charged me a bunch and didn't tell me why, so I rated them poorly on the Ford survey and a manager called and made things right. They have never pushed services on me, nor have I ever felt they are deceptive with my truck's service needs, which is far better than South Tacoma Honda with my previous SUV. Overall, I don't love this dealership -- but I did like my truck buying experience, oil change class, and don't mind working with them to keep my truck running smooth. They seem to value honest feedback, which I respect. If this is a convenient location for you, try them out. read more

Read this LONG view and save yourself a trip to Sumner. Synopsis of worst experience ever..... I mean where do I begin? We got there (made an appt. via a phone call- them calling us after a text about a vehicle) looking for a specific make/model. They showed us one, when asked the price, of course they had no idea and had to look. They showed us another one that must have not been detailed yet? At least I'm hoping/assuming it hadn't been. While we stood by that one while he (Aaron) got the keys. he pointed to a gravel area where 2 more were. While he got the keys. we walked over to this huge lot looking around.. there was nothing there (pretty warm out I'll mention). So when he comes back we tell him there were none in the gravel lot, he says they're at the Sunset Chevy lot (which we have to drive too- and he'd meet us there). So we head to the Sunset Chevy lot, we get a call that Aaron had an appt. and that Joey would now be our guy meeting us there. We get there and they can't find the truck we're told they had anywhere! Joey drove to a couple different places it could've been, nothing. Aaron tells him he can see it on their inventory.. man, poor Joey. So we head BACK to the Ford lot. Nothing there. Then they tell us it's at their Kia lot in Auburn! Poor guy Joey was sent on a wild goose chase by this guy Aaron. No other term for it than..shit show. How are you going to ask a CUSTOMER to drive back and forth from lot to lot, let alone another lot in a different city?! It was mind blowing. The ONLY good thing about this experience was JOEY. He was friendly and honestly seemed embarrassed about the run around we got, due to Aaron (who's at Ford Sunset) Oh yes, prices still were never given to us all the way till the end. We went to Titus-will Toyota Tacoma got a brand new 2020 with a KILLER lifetime warranty with a solid salesman (Rob). We dodged a major bullet not buying from here!!!
