Initially found this wrecking yard while looking for engines and I've ended up purchasing a couple from them overtime as they seem to have stock of some obscure engines. The staff is pretty friendly, and straight forward, but they get pretty busy so there are times they can be short with you. Wait times can vary, but I've spent almost an hour each time waiting for them to pull parts for inspection. Pricing is reasonable and so far everything I've purchased has been working without any issues. Will definitely keep going back if they have parts I need in stock. read more

I recently had a window smashed on my old (1991 - over 370,000 miles) Toyota Corolla All-Trac Wagon. I live in Portland, OR and nobody had a replacement window in our metro area. But through a series of referrals, I finally got to Black Diamond Auto Wrecking, who were recommended by a local Portland wrecking yard. Black Diamond had the window for my particular car, and the price, including $60 to ship it, was around $136. I ordered it in the late afternoon on a Monday and I had it by Wednesday evening. I believe I spoke with Mike and he was polite and efficient. The service was generally excellent and I greatly appreciate their help. The only drawback was reaching them. Sometimes I had to call them several times to get to a live person. There were times that no one answered the phone. There were other times when the phone went to a message machine that could, at times, get you into an endless loop. At other times, the message machine would put you on hold briefly until someone answered. It was kind of inconsistent and something I'd suggest the company improve. I bought an engine from them because mine had a blown head gasket. I was told that the engine had minor exterior damage and the damage was pointed out to me. I negotiated a price based on the damage. The engine they sold me not only has the exterior damage but also has a blown head gasket. When I tried to return it was when they brought up the print on the receipt. They had marked the engine as clearance but did not disclose that information to me. Thus they sold me an engine worse than I already have and will not refund me my money. read more

These guys saved me more than $1,000 over what a Seattle auto repair place quoted me to install a used transmission in my Honda Accord. They were very professional and communicated very well with me about the cost. They found a couple of other things wrong, it is a very old Honda, and always called me for authorization before making any other repairs. Dude, it's a wrecking yard - not really an experience to write home about, but worth mentioning to all my Yelp friends. When my rear driver side tire exploded on the freeway and I needed new tires, Les Schwab also discovered I needed two new wheels for my car since I seemed to have dented the ones on my driver's side by hitting a cement median a little too hard on my way home from a night of partying (actually a long time ago). I didn't even consider going with 4 new after market wheels, since I knew I could probably find replacements pretty easily at a wrecking yard and only have to pay to switch out 2. I followed the advice of a fellow Yelper and checked out www.car-parts.com, which is a database of parts available from yards all over the US. It's a really easy site to navigate and it only took me a few minutes to find any available wheels in the Western Washington area. BDAW had EXACTLY what I needed - two 15x5 1/2 12 spoke stock wheels. The condition was listed as "good", but I did have to give them a call for pricing. They were prompt and helpful when I called, checking the condition and quoting me a price of $75 a wheel. I paid over the phone, since they can only hold them for 24 hours and I knew I wouldn't be able to make the trip to pick them up until the weekend. They offered to ship them, but being my frugal self I knew I could save a chunk of change by picking them up. Today when I arrived, they pretty much knew exactly who I was when I walked through the door (trust me, you DO NOT usually see chicks at wrecking yards) and had the wheels waiting for me. They checked my ID, I signed my paperwork and they helped me load them in the trunk. My Ma spent the few minutes we were waiting trying to get one of the feral yard cats to let her pet them - unsuccessfully. When the guy helping me started talking to her about all the cats they had in the yard with a hint of affection, my Ma was definitely impressed. At no point was I treated like I didn't know what I was talking about just because I was a chick (admittedly, I did make a point to mention that I had worked at a yard in the city for 2 years). Well where should I start, their website is useless. I found the part I was looking for on their website for $100 (which was around $80 cheaper than other places) so I called and talked to one of their staff where he confirmed that this part exists without any damage for $100. After driving for 2.5 hours I finally found their place and once they looked at their system they told me there is a small dent on the part. Well let me tell you it was A HUGE dent and a difficult one to fix so I asked him if they have any other one, and he said yes they have another one in good condition for $275!!! That was when I left their store and WOULD NEVER GO BACK. I would not recommend them to ANYONE. Terrible customer service read more

Been here twice with a couple of years in between. They can be very helpful if you know what you are talking about and/or know what you want. They won't let you in the yard unless something needs to be looked at to determine if it's worth taking apart. This is a good thing - it keeps the yard somewhat unmolested. read more

They were polite, and helpful, and gave me excellent directions. When I got there, although the place is a sh*thole for sure, the pulled out the part I was searching for as promised and we made the deal immediately. I was trying to sell them my car and the guy was talking to me like I'm an idiot. And this lady was just staring at me the entire time like I'm such an inconvenience. The last couple transactions were for used engines, one of which has been installed in my car for over a year and continues to run flawlessly. I recently installed an engine in a relative's car, and it started and ran without issues. I am very pleased with black diamond auto wrecking they helped me out big time. I needed a relay for my Altima which cost me about 45 bucks .and when I talked to the dealership they wanted 220 dollars part and labor. The staff there was really cool and helped me out a lot . I showed up with nothing but said a prayer and asked God that someone there would help me and I would be able to fix the heat issue in my car for my family . Needless to say I got it done and I saved some money. I have an old Volvo 240 that needed a new cylinder head. These cars were made with different engines at different times. Called up Black Diamond auto and they had 2 of the correct one. One was on the shelf, came down, and it had a groove in the surface. For the cost of an hour of labor (~$20 I think), they had one of their techs clean and resurface it. Did an outstanding job on that head. Now, that head ended up having a frozen Valve. Black Diamond Auto didn't see it, but neither did I (Seriously innocent "oops" on both our parts). Called Black Diamond up, and they took care of me. ~1 week later I exchanged the first one for the second (Im pretty sure they even cleaned it up a bit for me), we all checked the valves and they operated correctly. Its been ~ a month and the new head is on the Volvo and it runs well. I miss not being able to go see the vehicles the parts are coming off of, but the better inventory system (Over a place like P'nP) is very convenient, and the guys here I believe gave me excellent service for anywhere, particularly for the reasonable price I paid (Bout the same as P'np, but they pulled it, cleaned it, replaced one of them, etc etc. Im a happy bunny, and if I ever have the pleasure of finding parts I need listed in their yard will happily return and recommend others to their address. read more

I sent my daughter to pick a fender from these guys, who had it listed on "car-part dot com" as a grade A with 0 dents, and they told her if it wasn't to my liking it could be returned. When I got the fender it was solid bondo, with 80 grit sandpaper marks showing thru the paint. If had fresh bend marks from "them" removing it and obvious wire feed spots on the inside of it.(used to pull dents) . Long story short, I sent my daughter back with the fender and the manager told her that the damage was from me and that they were going to call the cops on her if she didn't leave. Blamed "people like her" for the fact his business failing. I would have taken credit in parts, since he has 2 of that car I need parts for. Jack at Black Diamond Auto Wrecking was a total God send, Oh my goodness the best customer service any where I have ever been.... Jack was wonderful he helped me out in a time of need... I wrecked my Honda Civic, I rear ended a big truck with a huge trailer hitch, needless to say there was extensive damage to my little car.....I started to cry on poor Jack when he told me that it would cost me $950 to get it driveable, See I only had $450 dollars to my name..... i was outside crying to my daughter on the phone and Jack came out and looked at my car again, see I also would not be able to go to work until I came up with the $950, and I was a week away from my payday, then Jack told me he could fix my car get it all put back together again for $450 and it would be ready in just 2 days. All the work I missed was one day. I work way in Lynnwood and live in Black Diamond.....
