I went with my car to be fix the transmission problem they made estimated to fix it, and they changed $1000, but the problem still and other things come up so why if you make an estimated and said to be fixed at that price why not fixed? now they are asking to fix something also and want to change $2000 to fix that problem (But if something is also coming up, how much more?) We took our vehicle in and we had to call numerous times over two days to finally get an estimate ($150 just to look at it) and when questioned on why they thought it needed a $3,000+ transmission replacement they began to back peddle. No warranty information, they admitted they didn't really know what the problem was until they took it apart but they guessed it was the transmission. The whole experience was frustrating and we ended up having another company come tow the car and give us an estimate (free) and they found the specific problem that was NOT a total transmission replacement. I went in for diagnosis and the guy didn't give me any information of what my car needed to be done. Follow up: my car needed a new engine and clutch. Clutch gave me a lot of trouble and I asked them to do it again cause it wasent done right and it left me stranded in the middle of a mini road trip and they gave me hella attitude saying I was calling him a liar. Today was my first time there..and although. Im used to paying. 20 to 30 for an oil change for my car..here. It was 45.00..but they got me in no problem..when no one else would. .super. Friendly receptionist. Amanda. Very kind and helpful. .loved the friendly mechanic too..he was fast and efficient and i know my car has a long list of to dos..they gave acurate and HONEST RECOMMENDATIONS. ..most auto shops totally inflate the problem and price....I feel. My 03' 2500HD Silverado truck blew a heater core hose at the light of pacific highway and 304th. I pulled over right next to Mechanics Northwest shop, not realizing it was a garage. I walked in and asked the lovely lady who worked their if they had any spare waterline hoses laying around. She was able to find me three sizes to work with.mI was able to piece together a 3 hose adapter that I fit to the broken hose and attached it to the firewall. They gave me a jug of water to take with me after It was fixed and held water!! I had to meet a homeowner to give an estimate for a driveway replacement and was only late 20 minutes.. Called to get a quote. He quoted $400 without liking up what I was requesting. Told him I had my own part and just needed the labor. I was quoted 189 by the another Machanic shop for windshield wiper motor replacement. He then told me then just go to the other mechanic ship. Scheduled a appointment online for oil change and minor repairs which was set up very easily with a quick response from Amanda . My wife took the car in a little early and they started on it right away. Starting with Amanda everyone my wife talked to was very nice and helpful. I actually spoke with MNW about another car and they were not able to do the work for my other car but were so helpful that i decided to give them a shot when my spare car failed emissions test. They were able to fix my car in 1 business day. When I picked up my car found out they test drove it to emissions and car passed! So glad I found a new place I can take my car. I definitely do not recommend this shop. Took my suv in a few months back to replace my antifreeze deposit a little pricy but it was an emergency and had to be done. They gave me a year warranty for the job because the part they replaced was brand new from the dealer. Went back to the shop because my suv was leaking from the antifreeze deposit a hose underneath was loose so since I still the warranty I thought they tighten up the loose hose at no price but not they cut with a knife an other hose just to avoid the warranty and charge me more to replace the new hose they cut with a knife I just cannot Believe this right now. Please think twice before going to this shop. I have nothing against this shop or anybody that works there I'm just a costumer that got rip off and that is not right ! read more

Written diagnostics paper is so vague- I would have been better off taking it to ANY OTHER PROFESSIONAL SHOP where they explain in detail what your car needs exactly because they actually have mechanics that know how to check a vehicle and take their time. The hatch door of my subaru was busted around one of the gas springs. It needed the work of a professional welder so there was nothing they could do. My second review for MNW.. This time it was my kid's old beater Toyota that decided to give up the ghost on the freeway in an explosion of noise and smoke.. We knew it was going to be bad and were ready to just junk it and look for another old car.. but I'd had such good luck with MNW in the past that I decided to have them check it out before we did... and I'm glad I did.. Long story short.. the damage was bad,, but the people at MNW worked with me to find reasonably priced replacement parts.. they did the work at a reasonable rate.. they did it quickly and professionally.. and now that little beater runs better than it did before.. and we have a better car than we could have bought for what we spent.. Every time I do business with these people I walk away with a smile on my face.. and I've never felt cheated.. These are good people and good mechanics.. They're not magic elves that work for free.. but you get good value for the money you spend. One last thing.. When I've picked up both of my repaired vehicles.. the mechanics have been obviously PROUD of the work they did and really excited to tell me what they did, how they did it.. Compare that with the anonymous experiences I've had most big garages where a check marked invoice is about as close as you get to knowing what was done... My alternator went out on Sunday afternoon. On Monday morning, I called around to several repair shops in the Federal Way area to get an estimate on the repair time and cost. The first 3 shops I called told me I would need to leave my car all day and quoted prices of $400-600. At Machanics Northwest, they quoted less than $375. If you call in, they will order the part, then call you when they have the part, which in my case was about 1 hour, then have you bring your car to the shop. That saved me an hour of sitting the shop. My car was done in less than four hours. The service was great and very friendly. I've found the repair shop I will use in the future. read more
