To cut to the chase, Sunset Grill serves very large portions of very average tasting meals. I chose eggplant Parmesan. It came with a salad which was a generous portion of average lettuce in average dressing. The eggplant parmigiana was a large amount of spaghetti & sauce, with only a very small amount of eggplant. The eggplant was very mushy, bland, & extremely disappointing. This was mainly a large spaghetti dish. The server was very kind & personable & was working very hard. Don't let the outside fool you; the interior is nicely done in farmhouse chic style & the menu has a great selection for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. A bit pricier than your average breakfast place, but for lunch & dinner I'd say prices were on par. And don't let the limited parking out front stop you; there's lots of parking in the back too! My boyfriend & I stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday around 9am and were immediately seated with plenty of other open tables too. A good number of people were already there enjoying their breakfast too; seems like the waitstaff knew a lot of the customers, so definitely gives off the vibes of "local love" & we're certainly excited to come back again to give lunch or dinner a try. Our server seemed to even know a bit of sign language; the mother-daughter duo beside us had been conversing in sign & the waitress even signed with them too a few times, which was great to see the inclusivity! Here's the rundown for breakfast, and the main reason why when we come back, it'll more so be for lunch or dinner. For food I got the Belgian waffle & loaded it up with chocolate chips, strawberries, & whipped cream, plus a side of bacon. My boyfriend got the French toast with cheesy scrambled eggs & bacon. While my meal was great in terms of flavors & portion size, his was a bit lackluster. The cheesy scrambled eggs just had a single slice of processed cheese slapped on top of the scrambled eggs; not mixed in at all and barely melted. The French toast portion size was large, but the toast was so thickly sliced that a lot of it didn't get the egg soak and seasoning down to the center, leaving it more bland. Both of us had just okay bacon; I like mine chewier, he likes his with a crisp but not charred, and they came out a bit cool but more charred. Nevertheless service was great & the lunch and dinner options look tempting, so we're willing to give it a second try & see some more of that local love between the guests and staff; that's what's hard to come by nowadays, but it's our favorite thing about eating at places like this! read more

We are locals and have been eating in the restaurant for 14 years but, unfortunately last night will be our last visit. After paying our bill, we asked if they were under new ownership. Both of our meals were barely edible. Turkey dinner and fried pork tenderloin dinner, both had gravy that tasted absolutely awful. Both meals had been ordered previously and were good but last night was not good. We understand the prices go up but please don't let the meal quality suffer. I would rather pay a dollar more for a great tasting meal than feel like I paid a lot for a bad meal. read more

Okay I blame myself because I did not look at the restaurant before I went on here. I googled the best key lime pie as my wife had a taste for it and this showed up a number of times. The food was dry and flavorless. The meat was overcooked and no seasoning. This reminded me of the old people restaurant that I was forced to go to with my grandparents. If you are over 65 and lost your taste buds it is definitely the place for you. I asked for recommendations and was told liver and onions, burgers and gyros were popular. While experience was perfect! The hostess seated my handicapped parents right up front quickly(lifesaver). Waitress was quick efficient and kind. Our food came out quickly and perfect. Checked out quickly but never felt like we were rushed or forgotten. We had a nice shady parking spot in back for our doggo while we ate. Car was cool each time I checked. They do their chicken pot pie quite interesting at sunset grill. It's deconstructed, or upside down whatever you wanna call it. It was good don't get me wrong but I didn't feel it was any more special than other places I've had cpp. I've never actually dined in here before but their menu looks extensive and offers a ton of different dishes for just about anyone read more

Great food, atmosphere and service! This mom and pop restaurant is always very clean. I only had one bad experience and that was when we went for breakfast on a Sunday. My son's steak was overcooked and the server was not very nice about it. She acted like it was my son's fault that it was overcooked, and then told us they were out of steaks. Needed to find a place to take my in-laws to get them out of the house. We decided on this place since it's been here forever and we haven't been in awhile. Huge portions but not cheap as far as prices go but good bang for your buck. I got the chicken pot pie. Yummy. My husband got the Ruben. He liked it but I thought corn beef a little dry. Was disappointed again with the food and service. my dinner was to have two sides. The plate looked bare and when I counted the French fries there were 15 fries, barely enough for a kids meal. Be sure to check out the daily specials- they are regular size portions that include soup or salad. The bread basket they bring to the table is tasty. Honest review, it was terrible quality. It took over an hour for our food to come. We thought about leaving after the appetizer and should've. We ordered potato skins as an appetizer which were good. We had 4 people and all ordered different plates for dinner, the French dip was "road kill" you could not bite into it and didn't have flavor it was simply a hockey puck. Asked for the grouper sandwich which was on the menu and they don't have grouper anymore and said it was cod plus she said they don't have a good supplier for fish. Waitress said the grouper sandwich "wasn't that good anyways" none of the food was. The Cod was dry and rough. Next order was shrimp and grits, it was mush with unseasoned shrimp and bacon... not sure why bacon was on grits. The house salad was about 99% ice burg lettuce with 1 tomato and 1 cucumber this is no joke. The only thing that was ok was the fried shrimp. It's no hate to the restaurant but it simply wasn't a good restaurant in my opinion but you may try it for yourself. I don't think we were in the wrong on this one. We aren't stingy people but 20% of the food was eaten. Sunset Grill is my dad's favorite restaurant. Not just in Florida, but his favorite restaurant! Great breakfast. Great lunch and dinner. Great pie. Great food. He passed away a few weeks ago and can't go anymore. That's sad. I just went for probably my last time. The food was just as good. Just as hot. And just as affordable. I finally made it here for breakfast today with my husband and regret not coming sooner. The staff and hostess were so friendly. I really enjoyed the beach like atmosphere as well as the display of delicious pies to my left as you enter. The chocolate chip pancakes were sweet and delectable just like I hoped and big! Devoured! My husband and I shared a bit of potato pancake hash and grits. Delicious and thank you for the bottomless fresh cups of coffee. We took two pieces of pie to go I'm sure they are incredible. Haven't eaten at SG for a while; used to go there all the time when food and prices were good. We decided tonight to get a take-out order at Friday at 5:00. I ordered Cheeseburger and order of fried mozzarella sticks and hubby ordered cod sandwich. First, background noise was so loud the hostess could not hear me and had to ask me several times to repeat my order. Second, she spent crazy amount time arguing when I told her I didn't want any sides...just the sandwiches..."I have to charge you the same prices so you might as well get them: soup, salad, fries." No, I really don't want them..."But you should get them - you have to pay for them." Finally said sure okay, whatever. 2 meals were $40.00. The order: cheeseburger had no cheese. Fries were cold and there was enough for 6 orders between the two meals (5 good fries would have been better) ; hubby loves clam chowder (one of the sides we had to order and didn't want) but he took one bite and said "worse I've ever eaten-tastes like wall paper paste" and tossed it. Very very disappointed. Not sure what changed but...wow, did it change. Sadly, I can no longer recommend this restaurant to family and friends. read more
