Not many breakfast chains can be as consistent as the Sunset Grill and I've been a big fan of this place for a long time. I made my first ever trip to this Mississauga location over the weekend for a quick breakfast and was not disappointed. There was only one waitress when we arrived and she did a great job at giving everyone time and still being super quick with taking orders and helping everyone. For those who don't know, this place offers pretty much everything you could want for breakfast including what I ordered, a pea meal sandwich with home fries! The food came out super quick and it was totally delicious. The pea meal here is really good and so is the home fries it was served with, although the home fries aren't the most flavourful you've probably had, they are still pretty good and fill you up. Overall, this Sunset Grill is another solid location that makes good food, has fast and friendly service, and has a great staff. If you find yourself craving some breakfast in Mississauga, check this place out! read more

All day breakfast! This is what you'd expect for an all day diner - casual, inexpensive, with meh coffee but good breakfast. I went here on a weekday with my mom and there was (expectedly) no wait. I had the sunset super (3 eggs, sausage, pancakes, and home fries. It was good but not amazing or anything, and the home fries were a bit cold. This all being said, the food basically met expectations (though the service was really good!) and it's in a convenient location just off the high way, so I'm sure i'll be back. read more

Have visited this location a couple of times with co-workers and have overall enjoyed my meal. I picked the same thing both times I've been here - the smoked salmon bagel with no onions. I like to squeeze a super generous amount of lemon all over the salmon, then layer it over the bagel spread with cream cheese and tons of capers. One of my fave breakfast/brunch dishes of all time - super simple and super yummy. Service is prompt but not overly friendly. Food arrives pretty fast, especially if you let them know you are on a time crunch. Will probably come back again soon! read more

Not a bad experience here at all. Sunset is a franchise so not all are the same. This one does carry gluten free bread so you can get it as toast, French toast or for sandwiches. They didn't charge me for the gfree bread which I really liked. I ordered French toast, eggs, homefries and bacon. The French toast was good, though slightly bland. Nothing to write home about. The eggs and bacon were cooked well and the homefries were good but I asked for them well done and I don't think they were. Our waitress was nice but didn't hover though she did forget my butter when I asked. We went on a weekday mid morning so it was not busy at all and our food came quickly. I liked that they brought the bills as we neared the end of our meals but stressed no rush. I hate flagging staff down for a bill so it was much appreciated. Overall, I'd be back! read more

The food here is standard breakfast food... they don't have many things that are on their menu. Was there recently and they didn't have daily soup or any soup, plus no healthy option or oatmeal. Their biggest issue is shortage of staff though. Especially on the wkds when you know youre going to be busy, it would be smart to have extra staff in. Took us a while to get water, menu, order, coffee refill, fork or anything else. Came here for breakfast. Ordered the 3 egg with peameal bacon. Meat tasted past due. Potatoes were undercooked. They forgot the toast. I told the waitress. They took 50% off which is ridiculous. They should not have charged for a meal that didn't include all the items and was not edible. Terrible customer service. Was at a different sunset grill yesterday and had the same thing. This location seems to be under new management. The staff has totally changed and so has the quality of the food. We arrived at a time when there was little traffic in the restaurant and waited 10 minutes for a cup of coffee. I looked at the coffee machine and saw there was coffee in the pot, so not sure what the issue was. Finally got the coffee (which was tasteless) and as I was drinking it, saw a dust bunny floating down onto our table. That was when I looked up and saw the dusty light fixtures, ceiling pipes and fans. Worst, the fans were so dirty that as they spun, it appears they were blowing the dust onto the walls because the walls were speckled with dust. Our order finally arrived and I must say I was extremely disappointed. This is a breakfast restaurant. The one thing they should know how to do, is make the standard bacon and eggs. My eggs were overcooked and my bacon undercooked...so much so that the fat was still opaque white. And the potatoes...tasteless. Sad to say, but due to the lack of cleanliness, poor service and poor quality of food, I will never visit this location again. read more

I came here last Sunday and oh boy, was it ever busy! My friend and I were able to get a table within 5 minutes which was good. The prices are a little bit more than usual but well worth it. I got a smoked salmon eggs Benedict. It was a good portion for what I paid. I wasn't a fan of their home style potatoes though. Our waitress consistently checked up on us and kept offering to fill up our coffee and tea. I'll definitely be back here in the near future. read more

After being seated it took about 20 minutes to flag down a waitress. I really felt like soup, and for the first time ever, I was told that the "soup of the day" was that they had NO soup. I read other reviews on here and apparently half of the menu is always missing. I dunno, the food was "okay" at most, but I think this is the worst location for this place. The atmosphere and waitress weren't the worst but I didn't feel comfortable at all. We had to ask for things multiple times, and were just looked at very strangely multiple times instead of just saying "yes right away" or something. This sunset grill location is extremely disappointing. I wouldn't return to this location, I'll continue to frequent the locations on Erin Mills and Dixie instead. Usually most sunset grills are consistent in quality, that was not the case here. I got over cooked eggs and barely toasted toast. The home fries just tasted of boiled salted potatoes (other locations add some seasoning and a little fry to them for flavour). In my entire time there I never received a coffee refill, I had asked for water when I ordered and it arrived to my table as the server was clearing my plate. I had asked for jam since there was none at my table, I was given honey. When I said I'd really like some jam please, the server sighed and handed me marmalade, I ended up just getting jam myself from the empty table next me. This poor lady with her young child was seated next to me and she had been waiting for her plates to be cleared midway through my meal. When she began chatting to me that she found the service to be bad and that she had been waiting for 20 minutes, the server came and wedged herself between us and began to tell me that they were slammed and under staffed (that's fine but I didn't need an apology, the lady with her child did. Also why are you telling me this at the end of my meal?). I have had pleasant experiences at sunset grills before but I'll return to those locations, not this one read more

Now i have been to many locations of the Sunset Grill and enjoyed them all but I was not expecting this reliable feel good food place which I like so much to fall apart like this today. A cluster of things that all just rub me the wrong way for a place that calls itself world famous. When we arrived, the sign said seat yourself, so we did. 10 minutes later someone said hi as they walked by then handed us the menu they picked up from the greasy fingered patron 3 tables away. OK I can overlook this. Time passes, I can feel another grey hair taking root and suddenly our waitress appears. Thank goodness, I don't know how to talk to my family without coffee. This should be quick, there are only 3 of us. Ana orders a simple vegetarian omelet but with a twist, she wants ham and cheese added to it. So the entertainment is to watch the waitress struggle with their tablet ordering system on how to turn a veggie omelet into a pork and cheese offense to peta freaks. This took a while, seriously took a while , but once we cleared that hurdle it was smooth sailing.............so I thought. I ordered the Western sandwich with cheese on white and it comes with home fries, and ya my coffee. My son wants the same and asks for the Western sandwich with cheese on white. I said how about some sausage on the side, and Ana asked for a glass of orange juice. Confusion time again. You should have read the order back to us. Our drinks came promptly. But after a lengthily wait, our food finally arrived. It must have sat a while because it was barely warm. OK bye bye server, but wait! We don't have any utensils on the table. *%#@%* how does that happen? Find the waitress, ok not our waitress but a waitress and get some knives and forks, but three people need three knives and three forks, and we were short a knife. I would have asked for another knife but we never saw the waitress again. I ended up cutting things for my son. He is 13. Its been years since I cut his food. I felt like a total tard. The food was cold, and bland and now I have an attitude problem because this is not how its supposed to be. Left a tip, why I don't know. Paid at the cash register, why I don't know. I am not going back. Not to this location. This cluster left a bad taste in my mouth that outweighed the bland food. Nobody asked us if we wanted more water or coffee or juice, and the sausage was overcooked and the potatoes were mushy and bland. I don't usually show up for amateur night for any event and don't want to waste my time here again. So take away one star for the wait, take away one star for not knowing how to use your system, take away one star for no utensils, and take another for short changing us on the utensils you brought and take another star away for the bland food and another star is deducted for not keeping my cup full. You owe me one star. Understand, I'm not happy to pay you $41 plus a tip to endure that joke of a service and bland food. read more

If Denny's had a twin brother, Sunset Grill would be that. The menu isn't extensive and the ambiance is not like a diner but more like a casual eat out place. The home fries are almost like baked potatoes, not the hash brown types you get at other places. Good for a weekend morning breakfast. read more

Very happy with this place. My wife and I recently moved into the area and were looking for a good breakfast spot. Needess to say, I believe we found it and have been back here numerous times and will continue to come back. The servers are great - they are all extremely hard working, courteous, attentive and personable. The food itself is what you would come to expect from a typical breakfast restaurant however the portion sizes and price are very reasonable. At times the restaurant can get very busy, especially Saturday and Sunday mornings however do not use this a reason to deter you from this place as the food and service alone make up for it. If you are looking for a great place to go out and have a great made to order breakfast, I would definitely reccomend giving this place a shot! read more

****Among Sunset Grill I have visited. I really like this place well seating arrangements are more spacious. I can have a great conversation with my family or friends well enough that I am not hearing another tables conversation. Our server was able to make recommendation as well as how we are from the time we sat down, taken our order, provided on our table and amazingly after a couple bites she ask how was our meal. Timing is essential when a customer is in a middle of chewing or if a conversation between people is happening. Right after I was chewing, took a sip of my coffee and cutting my bacon that is when she approached my table Is everything alright would there be anything else that I can bring you. Sugar or Milk for your coffee simply i said Everything is great and I take my coffee black Best of all she offered May I suggest an fresh orange juice to go or for next time I did take my orange juice despite being so full and enjoyed a great meal. This will definitely be the last time that I come to this location. A little over a year ago a friend of mine and I used to frequent this place all the time. We were very disappointed because several times when we came there was always deficiencies in the service. Today I brought my mother to this location because it was convenient and it was very very disappointing. I should have realized it was going to turn out badly the first thing is they brought coffee instead of tea. The same waitress from a year or so ago was there with her rude self. She definitely does not know how to talk to people. She was very sarcastic about us taking so long to order we could figure out exactly what we wanted so she made a point of telling us to make sure that when were ready to put the menus on the side of the table in that way she knows when to come to the table. We apologize for taking so long. Although I really don't think it was that long. To make a long story short the toast was not done properly and my mother's meal came with hair yes a nice long curly hair. The cook did not have a hairnet on but I noticed that once we complained about the hair our waitress hair was now put up in a bun and the cook now had a hair net. But when she came to the table to give us our bill she was very very sarcastic and extremely rude to my mother and I just told her watch it because I couldn't believe how rude she was being we paid the bill and left. They did take my mother's meal off the total but made it clear to us that if we weren't happy that's why they took it off and I just explained further that nobody wants hair in their food. The food is really good here. My family enjoys the big breakfasts that Sunset grill offers. I only have issue with the service. I've noticed the past few times that it's been hit or miss. Today it was very lacking. We went at a time when it wasn't overly busy. The waiter avoided us many times when we tried to get his attention. We were waving him down and even shouting "hello" but no response. He would always make a b-line back to behind the counter where he was goofing off with another employee. I couldn't flag him down for water, so I had to go to the front counter. This time he was with a group laughing and chatting away. I had to interrupt the conversation to ask for water. Everyone behind the counter just looked at me, stunned that I interrupted their fun. Sorry this review is so long. I was just startled at how bad it was. I noticed that no one in authority was there today, so perhaps when the Cat is away the mice will play? I've given it 3 stars as the food was really good.
