After a pleasant conversation as to why I was there and the symptoms I was experiencing, Dr. Cohen listened attentively and followed up with some probing questions. I then transitioned into a separate room where Dr. and staff performed a very easy and quick multi-dimensional CT scan of my nasal cavity/passages. Within a few minutes, Dr. was back in the exam room explaining in great detail what my issues happen to be using the CT image as a visual. Straight forward diagnosis and easy to follow along while Dr. speaks to me and the image. Dr. offered a few different options for me and recommended an easy, effective in-office procedure that should clear up my decades old symptoms for good. I will have Dr. Cohen perform this quick procedure on me in a few weeks and I look forward to breathing clearly for the first time in many, many years. I had a severe sinus infection, which I get on occasion. I have been suffering from sinus issues since I was a child. When I called his office I was informed he had no appointment for several weeks, but they would put me on a waiting list. I was never called back. I recently received a reminder notice for my "annual checkup" made the appointment. When I mentioned this to Dr. Cohen he was quite dismissive and explained to me that he is only doing procedures and I should be calling my internist for these type of issues. I was quite taken back since he is an ENT and that is what ENT's typically deal with sinus issues. The next day I called the office manager to make sure that what he told me was correct and I did not misunderstand him. She then explained the same exact thing he told me. In other words I need to find another ENT that practices what a ENT does, help patients with chronic sinus issues. I was very fortunate to find another office that has been wonderful and caring. Their office is incredible and they also have the ability to do full sinus exrays and spent a great deal of time with me showing me why I have these issues and have scheduled me for a balloon procedure which was very obvious from the x rays. Dr. Cohen is a great Doctor, but his new office practice is quite unusual.

It's now September and I'm *still* waiting for my at home sleep kit. I call weekly to follow ups each time I call, I'm treated like it's my first time calling and I have to go through the whole story all over again. Plus, they like to keep you on hold for 30 minutes plus and then hang up on you! I seriously won't even trust their ability to read the results of the test. That is IF I ever actually get it.

The care was extremely expensive and they do not take insurance, but I thought it was worth it to have a doctor who actually cared about my health and recovery. Very sadly, and truly shockingly, my last visit was not the same. I have never been treated with such disrespect. I left the appointment completely shocked and hearbroken. Dr. Simmons ordered me an oral device to help prevent my TMJ from locking. It cost $3,500. He said the fit was off, but if it was comfortable it was fine for me to wear temporarily, and sent me home with it to wear for several weeks as they ordered a replacement. (I had already been inconvenienced by the Dr. cancelling 2 appointments on me, and having me drive in one day to tell me the package had not arrived - but things happen so this was no big deal and I was happy to oblige.) After finally getting the follow up appointment, I asked the Dr. what the plans were for the old device, as it cost $3,500 so I wanted to hold onto it in case of another mistake / damage to the replacement device. (For context, the 'replacement' didn't fit, so he had to shave it down so much, that the plastic retainer was only 1/4" tall, and no longer stayed put on my top teeth.) This attempted conversation ended with Dr. Simmons yelling at me, storming out of his office, and accusing me of being a manipulative liar, and comparing me to a drug addict. Of course, this probably sounds like an exaggeration - I couldn't believe it either - but his workers, receptionist, and *other patients in the waiting room next to me* surely heard the foul language and unfathomable anger as he yelled at me - from his office, through the lobby 10 feet away - over a miscommunication and confusion. TMJ is a very hard condition to treat and I was genuinely heartbroken over this as I did not know who I would go to for treatment after being treated with such disrespect. I am happy to share and recommend all others to go to UCLA's orofacial pain clinic. They are hard to get in with but absolutely worth it. The Dr. saw the $3,500 medical device Dr. Simmons made me and told me that it originally costs between $400-800. They made me a new one, with a significantly better fit (and much better explained) for $158 - because they TAKE INSURANCE. I have paid Dr. Simmons close to $10k for his care over the years. I understand that many TMJ specialists do not take insurance but have now learned that his prices are extremely inflated. He cancels on appointments last minute, does not communicate properly with patients, and loses his temper at patients who are simply trying to understand why she can't take home something she paid $3,500 for. To be clear - this review is for Dr. Simmons only. His assistants and receptionist are always so lovely and kind and I will miss visiting them!

I called today regarding an ear issue and was told that Dr. Cohen doesn't perform that simple procedure (of looking into a person's ear). I'm perplexed, because he certainly did when I saw him years ago. I asked for another doctor and was told none of them do, and was then asked to call the Encino office. So I called and was told the doctor that would see you is out for two weeks -- expressing my confusion to the receptionist -- I asked "the name of your business is C/V ENT" (emphasis on ENT) -- "isn't there another ENT I can see?" -- she said "yeah, um, nooooo.... Dr. Armin doesn't see Dr. Cohen's patients for billing reasons." I'm completely dumbfounded. What a hot mess this doctors office has become.
