Such delicious and refreshing slush. I ordered the mango and coconut slush gelati with vanilla ice cream and it was incredible. The woman who worked here was super sweet and let me and my family try whatever flavors we wanted, and you could tell she truly put care into each of our orders. Also, the desserts were very well priced, not expensive whatsoever! ** We actually went to the Calabash location, but I don't see that one on yelp so I hope this is sufficient.

Stopped here for an afternoon treat...not only did we enjoy the best slushes ever but we witnessed the kindest thing!! The two young girls working spotted two waste management workers (trash guys) laboring in the rain...they rain out (one barefoot) to give them free slushes... ITS RARE YOU SEE YOUTH WHO ARE KIND AND CARING!!! The coolest thing?! My 3 girls witnessed it! What an example!! It felt so refreshing that kindness is still being given out! Way to go SS...you've hired some good hearted young ladies! See you soon!

Delicious and refreshing, Sunset Slush hit the spot as the perfect treat for a hot summer afternoon! The staff are so nice and helpful, suggesting their favorite flavor combinations and offering sample tastes. There are so many different flavors, all tasty and refreshing! We ended up trying Key Lime, eggnog, and strawberry lemonade (not all together). All were delicious!

Sunset Slush is about as good as it gets for an ice cold and flavorful treat down at the beach. They have a cart that goes up and down the beach at OIB which is awesome, as well as the main store on Beach Drive...and now I'm told they have a stand opened up at the OIB fishing pier, excellent! There is a cornucopia of different flavors of Italian ice to choose from, and some are combos of favorite flavors (see pic). I have to say I am partial to the lemon, then the tangerine, but I like many many more. Mango is a big favorite with my crew when we are down at the beach. They offer different sizes, and if you get the largest "coozie" for $7, you get it refilled for only $3 each time you bring it back. And once you taste this treat, you'll be back, especially if you are beating the heat out on the beach and see that cart go by! For great tasting flavors and low guilt type of chilly treats for beating the heat at OIB, nobody beats Sunset Slush that I've experienced.

This man... Is a genius. Im not quite sure if they take shifts in being the server at the little window, (hopefully they do) but this Boston man knows his soft serve! He simply asked, "what do you like"? Confused, I stated, "something tart I suppose". The guy immediately went to the back and brought back to me a red and blue covered italian ice. It tasted exactly like fun dip. I cannot wait to get back there tomorrow! Maybe I'll go tonight! Haha. Overall, this place is a "must go" location. Friendly staff, amazing ice, and overall fun! So word on the beach was this place had "wine slushies"! So out of curiosity my family and had to check it out. On top of every flavor you would want, they had wine slushies. Throughout the week I tried various flavors without the alcohol. All were great. Other family members tried various alcohol slushies. No disappointments their either. The staff was great as well! Make sure to call ahead if you want an alcoholic slush. According to the young girls working on one of my visits they no longer serve the drinks listed on the website that have liqueur in them. They were also out of most wines. read more

If you like Italian ice then you will enjoy sunset slush. Smooth ice and lots of interesting flavored to choose from. I got the zombie since I couldn't decide (it's a rainbow ice). Like other reviewers have mentioned, the staff is generous with samples and is eager to help you. read more

Slush flavour selection is creative and extensive; they offer suggestions for combos which is welcome! They offer soft serve ice cream, too. All the flavours are a little sweet for my taste, I prefer the tart flavours I grew up with, and the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. The venue is immaculate and cheery; the owners and staff are very friendly. There's a cute store attached to the slush shop, too, for gifts and colourful tshirts. read more

This place is awesome. I was in OIB with 3 others and we came across fantastic reviews on trip advisor and thought we had to try it. Unfortunately, we were there during off season, but came across a sign on the door that said you could call them if you wanted some Italian ice, even though they were closed for the season...we did just that. Even though the owners, were incredibly busy doing house work, they met us at 5 pm on a Friday and they opened up shop. They were so genuinely enthusiastic about their product. They allowed us to have many samples and told us the history of their shop. This is exactly the type of place you want to give business to. Absolutely the perfect place to get a cool treat on a hot summer day. HIGHLY recommend! read more

Amazing Italian ice! I visited the spot on the OIB pier. The selection of flavors is almost overwhelming but its a sure bet that everyone will find something that they like! The Italian ice is soft, the perfect texture, not hard to eat at all. I had The Donald, which was a mix if fruity flavors. Highly recommend for a cool treat at the beach! read more

Stopped by based on ratings and I was not disappointed. The slushes were great, and the staff was happy to provide samples. I really recommend doing it "gelati style" (with ice cream on top). They also only take checks or cash. read more

The Deets: On this recent trip to OIB, I found that Sunset Slush at yet another new location on the island area of OIB, this time on Causeway Drive on the way into the main part of the island (replacing the one they had at the OIB Fishing Pier, apparently). And as I have said before in other location reviews, it still is a good frozen treat no matter which location you choose. Still liking my mainstay flavors of lemon, lemon-lime, and tangerine Italian ice as well as the Sonic flavored slush/Italian ice (lemon-lime and cherry together), I love them just as much as when I had my first one here many years ago. You can still get the small, medium, or "coozie" sizes as like all other locations and the cart that goes up/down on the beach sand itself. It definitely remains a "gotta have" when at OIB. This location appears to be shared with a dessert shop as well called Sandcastles Sweets and Treats that has ice cream and other sweet delights but I have only sampled my favorite Italian ice/slush treats here. Service each time on this trip has been friendly and quick to fill each order. Still two thumbs up for this chilly treat!

Great customer service. I've been visiting Ocean Isle since there were rinky-dink water slides in operation across from what is now Drift. The sweet potato was barely on the brink of being frozen. The Quinoa was also cold...not just room temperature, but ice-cold! Avocado was way too cold as well. So, you can imagine what this did to the beautifully cooked egg... yep - turned it cold in a heartbeat. Really off-putting to bit into. Mr. went back inside and asked if they had a microwave to heat it up and the 'workers' just said that was they way it was supposed to be. Mr. tossed the entire thing in the trash and simply said "well, it's disgusting". You would think there would be a simple offer to heat it up, or some kind of remedy for the situation. They didn't give a crap. I'm pretty sure they flipped us the bird on the way out. Nice.

Alarmingly unprofessional company who demonstrates overt bias to seemingly random customers. Booked events with 3 and 4 months notice only to have them cancel both with NO justification. Any/all of the more delicious dessert vendors in the area deserve your business more than this disgrace of a company. Cannot warn against them more strongly. read more

This is an iconic North Carolina beach venue. The night we went there was only one guy working, but he got through the line fairly quick and was friendly. But outside area used to have some rocks and now it's kind of muddy so I would suggest more rocks or sand or something. Just not a great atmosphere for you to enjoy your slushy. read more

Amazing!! I had the strawberry lemonade gelati and it was delicious!! They were amazing with my toddler son, he was sharing with my husband and myself and they made him his own cup of vanilla and cotton candy. Great customer service, great Italian ice. We will definitely be back!!! read more
