When the sun was setting, it's hard to imagine more beautiful scenery as you stood in the middle of the courtyard, looking out to the ocean. It was the kind of moment where you wish you could freeze time and turn hours into days. 100-stars for that part. There were multiple pools on property and our son really enjoyed the kids pool with the 3 water slides. We would have loved to check out the adult pools too, but we had our 7 year old with us, so that wasn't an option. One bummer on the pools: I got my wife a pina colada and tried a few sips myself: it was great! But I charged it to the room and later found out that my very modestly sized pina colada cost me... $22. Yes, I said $22. A lot of stuff around the property and even within the room was a tad outdated. The bed was easily the least comfortable of the 3 different hotels we stayed at during the week, and I'm never a fan of the small pillows. But overall, I was glad we stayed here just for those views alone.

My family and I decided to stay there for Spring Break, and it was our first time visiting the hotel. From the moment we arrived, the valet staff warmly greeted us and opened our doors with such kindness and professionalism. Upon entering the hotel, everyone at the front desk was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Gershorn, the bellman, was especially engaging and extremely helpful with storing our items and assisting us at the front desk. The front desk manager, Itzya, who checked us in, was also very engaging with us and our children. She provided outstanding customer service and made sure we had all the amenities and information we needed since it was our first time staying at the resort. Our room was fantastic, with a beautiful view of the Huntington Beach Pier. We had the opportunity to watch the sunset overlooking the ocean, which was truly remarkable and such a special memory to share with our family. The kids had an absolute blast at the Driftwood Pool. The pool service was amazing as well. The staff frequently checked on us, and our food was brought out in a timely manner. The security team also provided excellent customer service and did a wonderful job ensuring the pool area remained secure. Sean Williams (Security Director) & Jose (Security Manager) did an outstanding job with the security team they created. We also had the pleasure of meeting the general manager, Paulette Fischer, who personally greeted us and made sure our stay was going well. There are not many hotels I have visited where the General Manager personally interacts with guests. Thank you, Paulette, for taking the time to connect with your guests and make them feel welcome. Thank you again to the entire team for making our family vacation such a memorable experience. We truly look forward to returning in the future

This hotel and its policies have been an absolute nightmare. There is currently a reported chemical…read moregas leak issue, and we pleaded with the hotel to simply move our reservation from this weekend to another date. Because we booked through a third-party site, we were completely denied any flexibility or accommodation. To make matters worse, I was repeatedly criticized for not booking directly through Hilton instead of receiving any empathy or assistance. As a parent of a 3- and 5-year-old, I am not willing to risk exposing my children to any potential chemical issue, regardless of how many times staff insisted it was "perfectly safe." We are now out $1,400 simply because we chose to prioritize our children's health and safety. I even offered multiple times to pay an additional fee just to reschedule the stay, but was told "policy is policy." For some families, losing $1,400 and a family vacation may not matter. For ours, it absolutely does. The lack of compassion, flexibility, and customer care was shocking. I would give this hotel zero stars if possible. I have since deleted my Hilton Honors account and will strongly discourage friends, family, and community members from staying at Hilton properties in the future. Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish.

Can't beat the location of the hotel. It's steps away from the beach, boardwalk, bars, restaurants, and other local shops. Everything about the hotel and my room catered to my likes. I had a large double queen with partial views of the ocean. I thought it was cool that they offered a cooler, which would be useful to take out to the beach. The open walk-in shower was made for washing off sand, and I loved that my bathroom also had a tub as well as amenities ready to go for a relaxing salt bath. I used the in-room record player whenever I got the chance. Each room had its own unique record too. My room had Lynard Skynard, but I saw that there was an extensive record library in the lobby for swapping out the music. That said, I opted to use the bluetooth function of the record player to set the mood for my space. As cliche as this sounds, I was in room 311 and played 311 while watching the sunset from my balcony. Lastly, as a yoga instructor I was pleasantly surprised to find a yoga mat in my closet. I also noticed that they offered yoga at 9am on Sundays and provided in-room yoga on the TV. I'd certainly come back to Kimpton Shorebreak next time I stay at Huntington Beach!

Arranged for my daughter and her friends to stay here to celebrate her 21st birthday. Fun surf themed decor throughout the hotel & room. Large bathroom with soaking tub and good sized shower. The resort fee included bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, and s'mores kits! Nightly complimentary wine hour and yoga classes Sunday mornings. The police substation is kitty corner from the back of the hotel too so felt safe! Saw several police cars parked there Saturday afternoon. Hotel parking was expensive but everyone in our group easily found plenty of free overnight parking around the hotel (less than a block from the hotel) on early Saturday afternoon, even though it was a sunny beach perfect day with lot of beach goers. If you're older, this may not be the hotel for you bc it tends to get noisy on Main St & the hotel itself seems to be geared toward 20 something guests or perhaps families visiting with children.

First of all, the people who work here are so nice! Peter was always smiling and giving the dogs treats (with permission every time). I swear they started looking for him- and they're pretty anxious around people. There are no dogs allowed in the pool area which I get but it makes it a little tough to juggle the kids wanting to swim for hours and not leaving the dogs unattended in the room. The beds were comfy and they have a built in sound machine system and it was the first time I have ever see that! I loved it! I struggle to sleep in hotels but wasn't bothered by any noise. The hotel is right across from the beach and next to an outdoor shopping mall. We walked to and from multiple times on our trip and it was nice to be close by! They also have beach chairs, towels and sand toys to borrow! They have adult bikes but nothing for the kids so we didn't utilize those. The restaurant is good with dog friendly seating and gluten free options. We had dinner there only. CONS the dog park is so cute and convenient but it wasn't sprayed off at all while we were there and since it was plastic grass, there was poo smeared all over the place. It was hard to find a spot to stand and you hope your dog doesn't walk through it. It also smells like warm pee. We were still grateful for it but I think a small patch of real grass would have been less gross! The fee for dogs is $150 a night and that adds up quickly! The bathrooms are not practical for families. They don't lock, the toilet room has fogged clear glass with big gaps so no one could be in the bathroom getting ready or showering if anyone else was in the toilet room. Also, there was a slider on the outside of the shower that allows the entire room to see you in the shower which was odd. I understand the desire for this if it was a couples trip but why not have the sliding door on the inside so the naked person can make the decision rather than anyone on the outside deciding to open it mid-shower? Parking is a whopping $60 a night plus there is only valet which means you either tip every single time you pull your car in or out or you feel like a jerk. The valet guys were great and we wanted to tip everyone but ran out of small cash bills quickly. We stayed two nights and had to pull our car out 4 times which is 8 tips. When you're paying $120 to park that's crazy! The jacuzzi is just warm not hot and the jets when on are cold! That was bummer. Overall I don't think we will return because there are so many awesome hotels in the area to try but we did enjoy our stay and found it worth the money! The Shorebreak Hotel doesn't charge for dogs so we will be going there next time!

They are so kind and made sure our stay was a pleasant one. The hotel itself is right on the sand. There's beautiful views all throughout the hotel and from the rooms. The location is perfect and close walking distance from many great dining spots. You want to walk whenever possible because parking is a bit stressful and walking allows you to enjoy all that Laguna Beach has to offer. One of my favorite things about the room was being able to open the windows and sliding door to the beautiful ocean breeze. It's the best! (We couldn't do that for a portion of our stay because a couple of the neighbors continued to smoke. Not the hotel's fault because it is non-smoking but we were bummed that we kept smelling it in our room.) The room was nice, quaint and clean in general. For the price per night, I would say it might be due for some up keep just from normal wear and tear, such as new pillows and things like that. (That's probably putting it nicely as we were just off the main street and as far away from the sea as possible without standing on the sidewalk.) The room itself was basic but met our needs, though the AC/unit was... different. It was a little floor unit connected to a dryer-vent-style hose that went into the wall. Other than that and some noisy guests and traffic from the street, it worked for me for our weekend. We didn't use the pool or partake in the breakfast, so I cannot comment on those, but the property itself seemed well maintained and they put chairs and umbrellas on the beach when the tide goes out. The uppermost balcony is a great spot to sit or stand in the morning to listen to the waves crash and follow sea birds or spot the occasional dolphin or crazy ocean swimmers. I would go get coffee and spend a few minutes up there each morning. Once you've got your parking spot, it is pretty easy to walk to a lot of places in town -- restaurants, shops and larger beaches -- and there is a shuttle that comes by periodically. There was a parade in town during the time we were there, so those seemed infrequent and nearly always packed with people. Bring comfortable shoes. We were fortunate to get a parking spot on the main hotel grounds. There is a secondary lot pretty close by, and they will give you directions and a map to its location at the front desk. I would not bring a large vehicle (no big trucks or Suburban/Ford Excursion-sized vehicles) since I doubt you'd fit into the small spots in either of the lots.
