This is my second time staying here for work & I can honestly say this place never disappoints. It's not the fanciest hotel but it's always clean and welcoming. It's a small hotel. A parking is pretty easy, especially because most of the time the other guest don't have a vehicle to park as they are there for business as well. They offer a complementary buffet breakfast every morning. I'm not a fan of it however it's always pretty busy in there with people eating. The rooms are a tad bit dated, but again it's always very clean and smells fresh in the rooms, I do like that they offer housekeeping every day because most hotels usually offer every other day now to save on money. I didn't use their pool but could see it from my room and it looked really nice along with the courtyard. The gym is fairly small, but at least they have something and I do like that. They offer laundry on every floor if needed. read more

A nice hotel. Compared to the Costa Mesa one, this one is better. Rooms are big, bathrooms are nice, the layout of the hotel is pretty, both the indoor and outdoor spaces are nice. The fire is lit in the fireplace at night and lemon water is placed near the front desk. The gym is decent and clean. Internet didn't work and the front desk was of no help- the welcome screen never came up and nobody seemed to be able to figure it out

Recently, we arrived at the hotel on a Thursday afternoon, for a two-night stay. We booked (and PAID for) a room through Expedia.com. It was my husband's birthday weekend, and we planned a little getaway to celebrate. The reason we chose this hotel was because it was in a good location for the things we had planned. Easy and convenient for us to come and go from. We arrived a little early, somewhere between 1:00-1:15p. Check-in wasn't until 4:00p. Since it was a Thursday afternoon and the parking lot was virtually empty, we thought we would ask if we might be able to check in early. The young blonde female working behind the reception desk received us in a very rude, very cold manner. She never once looked up at us, asking for our last name while staring at her computer screen. She finally told us that there was nothing available yet and to either "come back" or "sit in the lobby until 2:30 and check back in then". We left and came back at 2:30. She looked up at the door when we walked back in, then looked down again. She then asks for our last name again as if she's never seen us or heard our last name before. BTW, my husband is Japanese and I'm a white, blonde woman, so you kinda remember us) and again, she didn't look at us, and spoke very condescendingly to both myself and my husband. She said once again that nothing was available yet, and made her same generous offer to either leave and come back or have a seat in the lobby, so we left, AGAIN. When we came back for the third and FINAL time at EXACTLY 4:00, the same aforementioned blonde person was still there, only this time, another woman was now working behind the desk as well. I was SO agitated with the one girl, I decided, rather than lose it altogether, I just needed to turn my back to both of them while my husband checked us in. Unfortunately, I didn't get the blonde person's name, but she's the younger blonde female who loves wearing white sweaters and headbands with pearls on them. Anyway, the room was nice enough, BUT...they end up putting us in a room on the first floor, on the main street side, where there is a constant, heavy, noisy traffic flow. As if that wasn't enough, they checked a herd of elephants in directly above us, who proceed to stomp around late into the night and again very early the next morning. Suffice it to say, we got very little peace and quiet, and very little sleep. The stomping above us woke us early, so we got up, packed and went to check out to leave. We go to the front desk to check out and apparently somebody working the reception desk "accidentally" charged the room to our credit card they ask for to hold for incidentals. Thank God my husband had all of the receipts in his phone to show them. So now we're being held up from being able to get the hell outta there while the lady with an actual brain in her head FIXED THEIR MISTAKE!! Honestly guys, I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel!!!!! It's a big fat ZERO from my husband and I!!! read more

Nice staff and everyone that worked here was super friendly.We did not realize hotel is right off the freeway.We did upgrade to courtyard facing room and our room (#202) was little further than most from freeway. I still heard the traffic all night long and husband heard couple above us rolling in at midnight and taking a bath.So no sleep lol Free breakfast that was packed to the gills with families. Definitely passing on this while we visit our daughter (she lives in Long Beach-moving to Huntington Beach) We'll stick to our favorite,Pacific Inn. The Ayres Hotel is on Seal Beach Blvd and very close to restaurants, many drive throughs, stores, and gas stations. The hotel staff was very nice and friendly when we checked in. The hotel rooms were very spacious with vaulted ceilings and a clean atmosphere. The bathroom was larger than a standard hotel. The high point of the hotel stay was its free, authentic, fresh made breakfast. They have staff members in their cafe who make fresh eggs, potatoes, French toast, pancakes and more. Again it's a great, amazing free breakfast juice, milk and coffee. Customer service here was exceptional and their advanced texting technology to check on guests and communicate was a very nice touch. We like our room cold and so we used to AC every time we were in the room. At night yes we like it cold and when the AC came on it would make a loud clinking noise and wake us up. Four stars for an upper mid-range hotel. It's not a luxury or "boutique" hotel as described on their website - at least to me. It's better than Garden Inn or most Courtyards and definitely not a Super 8 or Comfort Inn. I stayed a night while traveling for business and found the staff helpful, the ambiance nice and the room clean. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and while I faced the freeway, I didn't hear anything. Breakfast in the morning was good - decent selection and the cooks were busy serving up pancakes hot of the griddle. To me, this wouldn't be a vacation hotel but more of a place to stay while traveling through or staying for business nearby. Overall, I thought it was good and suited my needs perfectly. 4 stars, maybe closer to 5 if you need a clean, quiet and comfortable place to stay while on the road. read more

We keep coming back and there is a great reason for this. Well many reasons. The people. The location. The comfy beds. The great expanded free breakfast. Belinda & Jose at breakfast service are the most amazing people ever at any hotel shows their passion and desire to make customers happy and boy do they do that with some great breakfast foods This is the only hotel in the area that has HDMI hookups with the right remote to do work In the room. Also the only hotel to still have a hot tub with the pool. Love the patio rooms. The only things holding back from a 5star review is our closing doors and gates that slam and shake. Staff is very pleasant, helpful and efficient. Facility is very clean, quiet and attractive. Our king room was large and very clean and comfortable. There was room for a king bed, 2 nightstands, a queen size sofa (with bed), coffee table, large dresser with TV, a table with two chairs. Bathroom area was spacious including a microwave refrigerator, nice cabinet. The carpet was clean. We were very pleased with the whole package. We will definitely stay there again. Decent property, friendly staff, great location. Stayed here for the first time. Imagine this was built as a luxury hotel, but it is now a bit worn looking. Nothing wrong or broken, everything worked fine in the room. More that the rooms, furniture, and common areas have the normal wear and tear. The room was good sized, with all the amenities one would expect: mini-fridge, room safe, microwave, etc. Also a pretty quiet property, although our room faced the courtyard. Rooms on the other side of the hallway would face the freeway...that could possibly be a bit noisy. Probably the least favorite aspect was the mattress; it was saggy and needed replacing. Other than that the room was comfy. They serve a buffet hot breakfast. Better than the standard buffet at a Hampton Inn or a similar. Each morning they had eggs, hash browns, two types of meats (sausage, bacon, etc), and lots breads, pastries, and bagels. There is also a nice outdoor patio area with an outdoor fireplace. Best part of this hotel is the great location. Super close and easy access to major freeways, and very close to multiple stores and restaurants. I would stay here again. read more

PROS: If you're staying here overnight because of a live performance at Spaghettini's Grill & Lounge across the street, contact their business/group marketing person as you can receive a special discount for your overnight stay. Also, the included hot breakfast is a plus. They take their green energy conservation seriously and you have to place your room card in a slot when in your room & remove it when you're out of your room to minimize the energy consumption while you're away. We've always received above average to great customer service from this property. CONS: The property is a tad worn down and doesn't appear to have been upgraded or refurbished since it's inception. If you're not looking for the freshest, newest, new hotel smelling property, there's enough good things about it to have a wonderful time. We live in San Diego and often do overnight trips to see our favorite smooth jazz performers play across the street at Spag's. Unless we're redeeming a room using Hilton Honors points less than a down the street, the Ayers Hotel Seal Beach is our go-to hotel property due to its location convenience, great customer service, and good breakfast which is included with your stay. My husband and I reserved a 2 night stay because we were attending a Christmas party with relatives in Long Beach. We live in Palm Springs, so it was almost a 2 hour drive. My 87 year old husband is disabled and uses a walker. When we arrived at the hotel, he needed to use the restroom, so he started to walk back to the lobby restroom when the front desk clerk stopped him and said she had to unlock the bathroom first. She proceeded to produce a long bright yellow stick with a key, just like your local gas station, and she wouldn't let him have it but did it herself. Meanwhile, I proceeded to check in but was told I couldn't check in because I wasn't my husband, even though I made the reservation and used MY credit card. The extremely rude desk clerk allowed me to check in because I had his ID and MY credit card. She then made me complete a form and sign as a "guest"! Shre was so condescending, and no one helped us at all. The so-called accessible room was really weird. The very heavy automatic door is on a timer and made it very hard to unload our suitcases, etc. But the weirdest thing was the bathroom. There was a BATHTUB that you had to climb over to get in, which isn't easy if you have a hard time walking. The bed was also very high. But the worst part happened later. We returned to our room and turned on the TV, which worked for a while and then suddenly went out, saying "no signal". I called the desk and someone walked me through resetting the in put over and over until they finally sent a tech to the room. He did the exact same things I did and then said "it's an old hotel" and "it's not going to work", and then he just left. It was about 9:30 PM by then. We then got a call from the desk saying that there was another room down the hall that we could move to. By now it's 10:00 PM. I had to repack everything and move to another room, where thank God the TV did work. When we checked out, no one offered us an apology or a discount or anything. We never did get a receipt. We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past, and it was so disappointing! If you or your spouse have mobility issues, DON'T STAY here. read more

The worst experience at any hotel ever! I still can't get over how badly we were treated by management at this location. I was called names by the manager after I complained that there was drugs left behind in the room from previous guests. The rooms are NOT cleaned well. We had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Ayres Hotel in Seal Beach. The property and rooms were clean. The staff were friendly and accommodating as well. We had a rather large party that booked along with us and nobody had any issues. The breakfast included was also really good and filling, with excellent and fresh choices like eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries and pancakes. I have been to many Ayres hotels, and I am surprised at the customer service we received. We had two separate issues and left a message for the site manager to call me back. Let's see how long that will take. We stood here this past Saturday night. The location is close to a lot of beaches and Rooms are big and clean. We had no issues with the room, but employees. Shout out to Logan and Ryan, and housekeeping who were amazing. Check in was smooth and great. Then it went down hill from there with customer service. That evening my sister, brother in law, my husband, and I were in the pool. We know that the pool closes at 10pm, we arrived around 8pm. When we arrived, there were two separate parties there. Two of the ladies there were very loud drawing attention from the security guard. He must have passed by 5 times within the hour. About 15 mins comes, and the security guard basically tells us to start winding down because it's almost time to close the pool. Great; no worries. By 10pm, we were in the courtyard eating and talking, as well as the other guests who were rowdy. Security guard tells us that we can't be in the courtyard after 10pm? Say what? As mentioned, we have been to plenty of Ayres hotel and never had an issues with staying in the courtyard. So we decided to go to our patio area of our room. The guard says that we can not be there either for us to speak with the manager since that's a common area. Excuse me but we paid extra to have the patio area outside our room. And no, it's not a common area because it's off to the side. The only people that should be there are the occupants of that room. As we were getting ready to clean up, the night manager ( I believe his name was Adam) comes up to us telling us that it's 10pm and we need to go to our room? What! I didn't know we had a curfew. The approach was not great. We asked if we can stay outside our room, since we did pay extra and he said no. That everyone paid for their rooms and they are trying to sleep. We are not troublemakers, or there to cause problems. But never heard of such a thing. My sister proceeded to ask for the policy on this, that we cannot be in the courtyard this late. He said that there is none, but he can type it up? Okay.... I can type up stuff after the fact, doesn't mean that it's legit. I remember initialing about no smoking and stuff but not signing off on a curfew of 10pm. The rowdy girls left, and it was just us. We stood in our corner patio off to the side, and we're talking amongst us. And we were not bothered again. But that put a damper to the night. Next morning, we woke up to the smell of breakfast. My daughter and I went to get breakfast but it was really full so we sat down inside and waited for the line to die down. We observed 3 people there, 1 cooking two serving as an assembly line. A young blonde women made my daughters plate, and the man rudely asked me if the woman was helping me. I said yes. They ran out of eggs, so she told me to come back in 10 mins or so. My daughter and I were observing customers and employees as we were waiting. That man was very courteous to those who were not people of color. Hmmmm... just my initial observation. I proceeded to go back for my eggs, and of course my luck, I get the rude man. He doesn't ask me anything, I had to ask for eggs. He gave me a small scoop and that's it. I'm surprised he didn't throw it at me. Whatever man. I observed several times were he was so nice and courteous to other people but me. To confirm what I was feeling, I went back up and asked for a plate for my hubby since he was sleeping. I asked for a bacon plate to go. This jerk being an ass, gives me 1 one piece of bacon in a big to go container. No lie... I said excuse me, the eggs and potatoes too. Like really? He reluctantly gave me a baby scoop of eggs and must have been counting the potato hashbrown shavings. I asked for another plate since it was so small and he rolled his eyes. I know it's complimentary but his attitude with me was unacceptable. Checking out was also whatever. They kept texting me for updates, asking if I needed anything but never answered my questions. Normally when I get breakfast at a hotel, it's a serve yourself and you have no idea how long the food has been sitting around. Here, you get the best breakfast, and the staff was cooking while I was getting what I needed. The French toast is a must, with boysenberry syrup! The hash browns were actually crispy! They have everything you need for a great breakfast! Carolyn was an absolute delight in the morning! Was so attentive to what we needed, and was so incredibly nice to us and to other guests. She brought food out to guests if she needed to make more, and was laughing and talking with guests like they have been friends for years! Please don't listen to any bad reviews regarding the food! This hotel had a rough start for me. We were here for a college move. I thought I booked a two queen, but ended up with a king and a sofa. The hotel offered turn down service for the sofa - great! I decided to check out the reception: cheese, wine, soda, etc. I thought it would be a great idea to sit outside until I got attacked by a mosquito infestation all over my legs (that I am going to get checked out by my doctor tomorrow). I went inside and I swear the mosquitoes followed me everywhere in the hotel. Housekeeping was slow. When they were ready for us, we weren't ready to leave. Then we had to flag them down. The second day of housekeeping - I pulled the bedding off, but wasn't able to get the sofa back in all the way (I no longer needed the sofa bed). I was gone until 3:30 pm. I saw the housekeeping attendant in the hallway and she announced that she was going to lunch. I decided to take advantage of the time to change and get ready for dinner while she was on a break. By the time I was ready to leave, housekeeping was gone! Cleared the 2nd floor! Frustrated, I went to the lobby and asked for my room to get cleaned, then left for dinner. When I got back around 9pm. The sofa bed was not back in place, but the bedding was put back on (see photo)! WTH!? No one moved the table back in place. All they did was fix my bed and replace my towels - seriously?! This was the deal breaker for me to not come back. I hope I don't contract the Zika virus. Breakfast was good. The woman who ran it did an excellent job and greeted everyone. It was like going to someone's home. The reason why this hotel gets a 3 star! read more

So I have Stayed in The Ayres Hotel here in Seal Beach for at least 6 weeks on and off for Training for work! Let me tell you, it's clean , everyone at the desk is so kind they even remember what room I like! It's been my home away from home! The lady who makes breakfast is so kind and friendly! They cook it in the eating area. Two versions of scrambled eggs, pork sausage, Turkey sausage, bacon, hash browns. Full juice selection, cereal, fruits, coffee, and nice people behind the counter to serve up your plate. My only suggestion is they should have a fan/ventilation in the shower/toilet area. read more

Completely recommended this hotel for families. My family of 4 which includes a 2 and 4yr old stayed here for an overnight trip. The king suite with a pull out couch was more than enough room for us. Kids slept comfortably and so did we. Everyone is so friendly and the best part is thier morning breakfast. It was so nice to come downstairs and have a hot meal before our drive home. I booked though thier site and thier customer service is amazing. A day before arriving I was contacted through text message asking if I needed any special requests. I just asked for 2 extra towels since we had our little ones with us. It was such an overall amazing experience. Looking forward to our next stay at another location. Best part for long term stays- they have washer machines you can do your own laundry in and ice machines for drinks. Great place overall. read more

I'm a healthcare worker who was provided a comfortable stay here at Ayres in Seal Beach. Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The room surprisingly is very spacious with comfy beds and a small living room. Bathrooms are also nice as they have a nice tub that you can comfortably take baths in. This hotel also provides guests with breakfast everyday that you can have delivered to your room or that you can go pick up in a Togo box. Of course no sit downs are allowed yet. I love how breakfast is freshly made. I wish I got her name, but the lady who cooks makes the most delicious omelets! The older gentlemen also cooks pretty well too! I was privileged to be able to have met them and enjoyed their food during my stay. Front desk staff are very professional, nicely dressed, and provides great service. Hotel itself is nicely decorated with a European feel. I'm thankful for an amazing stay here. Thank you to all the staff members who made this stay great as I was keeping my family safe at home. Thank you also to the kind housekeepers who always went out of their way to make sure my room was clean and that I had everything i needed.
