I've yet to get ice cream or anything like when I go to Blue Deer, but about the half time I stop by there's usually a small line which goes to show how good the quality is in general. It's very much a hole-in-the wall, especially with Blowing Rock being a very small town, but it's quaint and friendly, and it feels good to support a local business. The nice thing as well is that it's basically at the end of Main, so you can get your coffee and walk the entire drag exploring the shops. This place is always so consistent in the taste and texture of their ice cream. It's a bit pricey but so worth it! There are other ice cream places that are probably good too but why bother when you know you'll always get the same satisfaction every time you visit. The service is always great with friendly folks offering taste tests of their ice cream flavors (just get the fudge brownie if you're a chocolate nut...trust me!). The server said no charge and we left without seeing our entrees. When pressed the server said they were short handed and it really wasn't that long.
