Beautiful location, tucked inside the heart of blowing rock in the middle of a quaint garden. The photos on this site are quite unappealing but i have to say the food was outstanding. Soft and flavorful eggs, perfect coffee, addictive hashbrown casserole, delicious bacon.. just amazing. They did forget the syrup in my latte :(, but it was good nonetheless. To top it all off the service was delightful, our server was Aden but the hostess and manager were just as great. Hidden gem off Main Street! We came for Sunday breakfast around 9:45 am and were able to get a table without a reservation. They have a charming patio in the shade outside their restaurant. I loved the hidden feeling because you walk down a gap between buildings and find the restaurant. Thanks to Yelp for the advice. I ordered a mimosa and it was wonderful, tasty with homemade juices! I ordered their special--Charleston eggs benedict with crabcakes on sourdough bread. The crabcakes are so delicious!! My only criticism is that for $16 -- It didn't come with anything except a tiny cantaloupe slice and strawberry. Service was good and fast! Definitely worth a return visit!! read more

What a treat! Two friends, my mom, and I were visiting Blowing Rock for the day. My friends love the Village Cafe and the owner, so we snagged a reservation for a late brunch sitting outside in the garden. It is such a gorgeous location with tables well-spaced and clean in a gorgeous garden area out back. We ordered a half order of the French toast to share because you can't eat there and not try it. We had one of the specialty crepes, one swiss and smoked turkey crepe, one Scandinavian eggs order, and one delicious turkey and brie sandwich. Everything was absolutely phenomenal- we all shared everything, and no one could decide what was the best because they were all so tasty! Then we just couldn't resist the mocha chocolate creme brulee to share- fabulous! I highly highly recommend Village Cafe and can't wait to return! read more

I'm in love with this adorable cafe!! The cafe is semi concealed; to get there, you walk through a pathway lined with lots of greenery. At the end, the path takes you to their outdoor seating as well as the entrance of the cafe. There are plenty of outdoor seating that are well spaced out. Their crepes are amazing. I've only had their savory crepes but definitely need to get my hands on one of their sweet crepes. Their Belgian waffles are fantastic. They're really like four waffles so be ready for a nap after eating them. For each entree of waffles ordered, they provide you with your own super cute maple syrup jar (probably due to COVID reasons). I also loved their mochas that come in these adorable cups! This is one of the most lovely restaurants I've been to in North Carolina. It's directly off the main street but hard to find. There's a small sign and then you walk down the winding path which makes a unique entrance into a lovely courtyard. There's indoor eating and outdoor eating, if it's a nice day I suggest the patio and the food is just fantastic!! The hostess who seats you is the owner of the restaurant and her husband is the chef, Annie and Andy. Often Annie makes homemade desserts. They are not a disappointment. Go ahead and indulge feel guilty later lol. This was my second time in Blowing Rock North Carolina. And the restaurant was so fantastic I couldn't wait to go again. It's seriously worth the drive and the town is absolutely beautiful. Our waitress was fantastic sharing all the daily specials she was very patient and through. Yes, we ask a lot of questions and she answered them all and even gave her personal suggestions, all excellent. I forgot to take a picture I apologize I had an after dinner Carmel Latte, and my friend had a piece of homemade pineapple cream refrigerator pie. (made by Annie). SO glad we stumbled upon this hidden gem, it's officially my favorite breakfast spot in blowing rock! The outdoor patio is BEAUTIFUL and the food is absolutely delicious. I ordered the Scandinavian eggs (salmon, cream cheese and chives in eggs) with fugasa toast and I will seriously have dreams about this breakfast until I return again. It was so fresh, flavorful and filling!! Their orange juice was freshly squeezed which just shows they're dedicated to quality!! Fresh OJ reminds me of my uncle so I had to order a glass along with my delicious oat milk cappuccino because why not double fist at breakfast? My mom ordered the French toast, also yummy, and cousin ordered the omelette! Our server Jordan was also spectacular and provided us with amazing service!! Completely underwhelming. Cheapest ingredients possible, surly servers and manager, and menu items that were not moderately priced for the area. All in all, I'm glad we finally tried the place, but grateful that it wasn't with an out-of-town guest because it would have been embarrassing. The server didn't greet, say thank you or you're welcome, and used short phrases like "what would you like?" My $3.50 smoked sausage was literally just a hotdog -- the telltale sign was the signature hotdog burp. The potatoes are described as fried, but they'd just been boiled and tossed in oil. The "Canadian bacon" was just the cheap chunks of ham you'd find at any diner, and coffee was served in six-ounce cups. But the lack of service in terms of refills was fine, since it was so hot that we were sweating even without hot coffee. It's in a cute house with a gorgeous patio, but the patio was inexplicably closed on a gorgeous, 72-degree day so we sat upstairs. The left dining room was about 80 degrees and humid and not air conditioned, the right bathroom was about 85. The good news is that there's literally a bathroom to rinse the sweat off. read more

The hostess had to turn many people away. once seated, we were treated with great service and a delicious brunch. We were so excited to get a table for lunch on Saturday because of the Yelp reviews. When we first arrived, we felt lucky to get a parking space in the tiny parking area behind the restaurant. Then as we approached the walkway to the host stand, we had no choice but to walk past the hostess standing there smoking...yuck! We were sat upstairs quickly because we had a reservation. The tables made a bad impression because the tablecloths were so faded and old, but that didn't stop.us from ordering what we thought was going to great food. I saw a pic of the pecan crusted chicken salad on Yelp and couldn't wait to get it. My husband ordered the special, Benedict. After waiting a while, I was served pecan crusted goat cheese medallions over lettuce. I was very confused because I was expecting chicken over salad. I even asked the waitress the difference in the two dishes and she obviously didn't know there is a huge difference. The descriptions are very misleading, so I had ordered the wrong dish although I told her I wanted what the table behind us had which was clearly not what I ordered. We later realized our waitress was super nice, but knows nothing about the food. When she delivered the cheese, I quickly asked if it was chicken and she said, oh yes! There wasn't any chicken on the plate. She ended up offering to replace it because of the misunderstanding and was polite about it. The Benedict special was a huge disappointment for my husband. He said it was a soggy and plain. Both dishes were very small and high priced. We both left hungry and super disappointed. The pecan chicken with dijon was great, but felt like a side salad for $15. We really enjoyed our visit to the Village Cafe. It was one of the highlights of a weekend in Blowing Rock, NC. It's a hidden gem in the middle of Main Street in downtown Blowing Rock. The staff are friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. They feature a special delicious gluten-free bread that's to die for. There are many other delicious options I'll let you discover for yourself. We arrived in the middle of their breakfast rush. There was a short line and a few people arrived for their reservation. We had no reservation, and the hostess cheerfully said "I'll find you a table". Now, that's excellent customer service. The portion size was just right for me. What a gem! You have to walk down a secret alley to get to the cafe, which is located in an old-fashioned cottage surrounded by flowers. The building itself is historic and super neat, but I always opt to eat outside in the garden (because it's just too pretty!). The Eggs Benedict here is wonderful. My favorite dish is the Charleston Eggs Benedict because it comes with crab cakes. The poached eggs are perfectly runny, the crab cakes are delicious, and I love the fresh fruit served on the side. The fugasa toast they serve here is homemade and pairs nicely with their preserves. I love a good cup of coffee with brunch and the Kona coffee they serve doesn't disappoint. Although I'm partial to breakfast foods, they also have a quality lunch menu with great crepes and sandwiches. Overall, this is a charming, classy cafe that has consistently good food and service. We've been to The Village Cafe several times for breakfast when visiting Blowing Rock. Tucked away off Main Street, you can access it via a stairway just past Kilwin's. The food and service are very good, and we like that they offer cappuccino. It's very good, although at $4.99, it's a bit expensive for a small glass. Their benedicts are delicious, as are their omelets and omelet sandwiches. You must try their fugasa toast. It's like a cross between toast and an english muffin, and is very light. They also offer half sizes of their benedicts, which is great for me, since I can never eat a full plate. You're lucky if you can visit when it's warm enough to sit in the outside garden. It's a beautiful place, and very relaxing to enjoy breakfast and a cup of coffee. We'll definitely be back! read more

We weren't able to make reservations but didn't have a wait for a table inside for three. All outside tables were reserved, and the patio is lovely. Caramel latte and house coffee were smooth. Diet Coke is served by the bottle. The home fries were ok. Scandinavian eggs had plenty of salmon and just the right amount of cream cheese. Waffle with pecans and fruit was different than expected. One half of the waffle was covered in a standard cut fruit, including whole grapes and melon, rather than the berries or bananas that are typical. I was disappointed that the cream served with the coffee was the pre-packaged half and half packets, as were the preserves. It seemed a disservice to the fugasa bread that they make in-house. They don't have a separate kids menu, so we ordered a plain turkey and cheese sandwich. It was loaded with what appeared to be freshly sliced roasted turkey breast and served on the house made fugasa. read more

Cute little Spot with a very friendly staff! One of the best Lattes I ever had by far... Eggs Bernice was very good except very skimpy on the smoked turkey. You couldn't really taste the turkey because of how small of a portion they gave us. Their were 6 people in our party and 3 of us had it and all had the same amount, slim to none! The hollandaise was very flavorful with the perfect amount of lemon! The side of potatoes were delish! I don't remember the name of the bread but it's signature item, it was out of this world yummy! Consistently Resentful of your Presence with Inconsistent Food ... but the Location is Great. Every one of the numerous times I have eaten here I left feeling like I bothered them with my presence. The middle-age woman in the (always) poor-fitting slacks that checks you in never fails to look down her nose at you with a fake and cold smile, which is a horrible way to begin -- and end -- your dining experience. And it's not just me; the reviews below mention this same unpleasant attribute over and over and over, along with numerous observed instances of berating the hard-working staff. When the food arrives it is hit or miss. Sometimes it's good and hot, sometimes it's good and cold, and sometimes it's neither good or hot. I have resolved to not go back, nor will I recommend it to friends. The combination of the off-putting treatment by the woman in the ill-fitting pants and the inconsistent food make this a place of last resort for me for a breakfast or lunch meal. If I am going to be treated like I am bothering the owners with my presence, at least I want predictibly good food. read more

This was a very nice, picturesque place for lunch. Eating outside is desirable right now, and you feel like you're in a private cozy estate. very nice waitstaff we had delicious soup and they're famous bread. Their menu has a good variety; salads are nice they have really good crepes. And especially enjoyed their desserts. We parked around the corner, there is plenty of lot and street parking. My husband loved the daily special which was a chicken crepe after he spiced it up. I had the eggs Benedict with the vodka cured salmon. Absolutely love the space, one of the most boring eggs Benedict I've ever had. The curing of the salmon gave zero flavor and a mush texture. Love, love, love this place! I love everything about it. First of all its off the beaten path in Blowing Rock. Near Kilwin's Ice Cream take the stairs down to what looks like someone's cute house. You will be graciously greeted by the hostess and wait staff. TIP: call ahead so you won't have to wait. After a very short wait we were seated upstairs near a working fireplace. Its cold in Blowing Rock but the fireplace made it quite cozy. Oh the food right....amazing. We both had a cup of the soup de jour, Tomato & Gouda. This was undoubtedly the best tomato soup I've had outside of my own homemade soup. Hurry down before they change the menu. My husband's entree was the Grilled Molasses-Glazed Salmon for $13. It was served on a bed of fresh greens and julienned vegetables with a black mustard seed vinaigrette dressing. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the greens were fresh. The dressing was very good as well. I had the Pawley's Island Crab Cake that comes a dijon cream sauce, served with fresh broccoli and mashed sweet potatoes. The tiny crab cakes were the perfect serving size for lunch and were 100% crab meat. This was in SHARP contrast to a meal i had the night before in this same town. My boyfriend and I recently ate brunch here during our stay in Blowing Rock. I absolutely love the fact that it is almost hidden down a small stone path and situated in a beautiful outdoor garden. The feel is quite elegant, yet the prices are very reasonable. The staff was very attentive and the food came in a timely manner. It was a beautiful day, so of course we sat outside. My boyfriend got an espresso and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. The espresso was the best he had ever had- served the RIGHT way in a small cup with a lemon find and sugar cube. He appreciated those fine touches. He also got an omelet on special and enjoyed that as well. I myself can be a bit difficult since I'm vegan and quite health conscious, no meat, no dairy, no fried food, no sugar, and gluten free when possible. Tough I know! Luckily I was able to find something delicious. I ordered the sautéed mushroom and tomato sandwich with no mayo or cheese on their awesome homemade dairy free bread! It was awesome.
