3/28 6:31pm. I just went there and try to buy an 9 inches T9 circular light bulb. I told them it's 9 inch and I even bring my old bulb to match the size. They don't have it in stock. Then they keep asking me over and over "are you sure it's not 8 inch?". It gets to the point the two guys at the store are making fun of me with the question. I can hear them keep saying that went I walk out the store. Very unprofessional and I'll email True Value corporate. read more

Love this place. Has almost everything you need and it's good to support a place that isn't hope depot. Though I've only been here a handful of times for things like screws, staples, etc. Every time I've gone, it was an in and out trip. I found what I needed immediately. Not to mention one of the employees was so nice to my dogs when I was stopping by polly annes down the street getting doggy cones for my dogs. Quickly rather than hopping in the car and driving 15-20 minutes each to Home Despot. George always has the things I need and what a pleasant surprise that he had the OEM cartridge replacement and gasket seats I needed for my Delta faucet and they were cheaper than HD! read more

I have always had nothing but positive experiences at this store, since the new owners took over. In the past, the owners were tired of the business and then their service lacked as a result. But since the new owner took over, yes the young man mentioned in earlier posts, the store has had a resurgence of good customer service as well as a broader range of stock at extremely competitive prices. I disagree with James R. I was actually there when this incident took place, and there are 2 sides to every story. James was extremely rude to the person at the counter, who was the owner. He threw the item and broke it. It was a light bulb I think. The owner said "Why did you do that? You don't have to be an a**hole about it" Which he totally deserved. I understand that the customer is always right but courtesy goes both ways, and apparently James had a bad day that day or something. I love shopping here and will continue to do so. The staff is helpful knowledgeable and friendly. You can't please everyone, as James demonstrated, but they please me every time I go in. James to me seems like a vindictive person who didn't get his way, and acted like a real jerk. It's rare to succeed in a new business, and I would hate to see this young mans business suffer from one person having a bad day and deciding to be a dick. I would recommend them to anyone looking for hardware. Let's keep supporting our local business! read more

I have shopped at the store for years and it is one of the best hardware stores I've ever been to. They always have someone to help me and show me exactly what I want to buy. They usually have what I want, and if not they are willing to order it for me immediately. With our bad air quality they are one of the only stores where I could find the type of mask that I wanted. First of all, most the hidden positive 5 stars are fake. I should of read the reviews before coming here. The manager there a tall bearded young fellow tried to tell me I couldn't return a c-clamp because it was a open item. It wasn't even used. In fact the cardboard label could not be slid off the clamp. Then he wanted to give me store credit? I finally got pissed and left with an F-Bomb and he yelled it back and I turned around and entered the store. Was he trying to intimidate me? He called me outside the store and I began to explain that I have purchased at least 100.00 bucks worth of stuff in the last two weeks and I did not need two clams, Just one and that this was not opened. I think this guy has to be the worse manager and I will not come here again. He finally gave me my money but I shouldn't have had to fight for my return. I say All was great until meeting this guy. This place has a good selection of items. I've usually found what I needed here. The customer service could use some work. The store owners seem like they wish you weren't there; like you were bothering their personal time. They also charge a fee for using credit card (which I don't think is legal anymore) and have a credit card minimum. read more

I frequented this place for years and never had any bad feelings there. It's like a guy's toy store. The owner's son is cool. The old guy (I guess the owner) was always cool...until one time about two years ago, when I went in there to scout out an item to employ in a modded air intake system in my truck. He walked up to me to help-I explained what I wanted, he fished around for something and I took it and thanked him for the help, and said I was going to "browse around" for other possibilities. This guy got pissed, went back to the front, and muttered to the Asian guy who hangs out in there "I don't know-he says he 'wants to browse around'..fu**in idiot" Hey old man, in case you wonder why you haven't seen me in there for two years, know this: I HEARD YOU. I found something that would work far better for my need and bought it. After I left and was about to get in my truck, old man yells out to me "HEY-you put the other thing I gave you back?" I said "uh yeah, why?" He goes "did you put it into its proper bin?" I said "Hey, I always respected you and your place-what's your problem?" Then he lightened up and said "well I just wondered that's all heheh..you know how people just throw things anywhere" I just kept quiet and left. To this day, two things: 1. I cannot figure why his sudden mean-spirited, left field attitude towards a guy who bought a lot of stuff there. Never will. 2. I haven't been in there since. Never will. Why am I writing this two years later? Because I want others to know, that the previous posts about the rudeness of this guy are most likely not bull. That old man left me perplexed and disappointed. One lost customer? Meh-no big deal. Right old man? But you seem to be building up a crapload of lost customers. For every one on Yelp, consider 10 more who took a hike on you as well. read more

I am a small business owner and did business with this small business and I was impressed. My experience with Yelp is that it is a scam so don't believe everything you read here, we'll see if this post gets deleted. Due to my schedule I couldn't bring a small $10.00 part in for them to match up, so I emailed them a picture. The picture didn't work as I didn't think it would, but it was worth a shot. They did spent $20.00 worth of their time attempting to cater to my needs until I finally had my wife go in with the part ( It was a shower valve and I use it daily) they matched it up and now our shower works good. FYI..I went to Lowes, Home depot and Ace with no luck. Why? because they stock the profitable items where our local hardware store stocks what we need. If you buy anything here make sure it is exactly what you need because these guys make returning anything a major headache, if they allow you to return it at all. I've had two such experiences here now. This first time I purchased a tool that was recommended by an employee for a project I was doing and the employee told me that if I didn't use it I could return it. It turned out to be the wrong tool and I didn't use it so I brought it back the next day only to be told that the employee shouldn't have told me I could return it and I would need to speak to the owner who wasn't there. I came back on four separate occasions and each time I was told the owner wasn't available. Finally I caught him and they let me exchange it for something else. I should have learned my lesson, but no. Recently we purchased an $80 grill cover that we didn't know we already had. I tried to return it the next day, unopened, unused and with a receipt. I was told that they didn't allow returns on that item because it could have been used and then returned. Are you kidding? It was still in its original package and completely untouched. No one told us it couldn't be returned during purchase, the receipt said nothing about a return not being allowed and there is no sign on the door that says, "we make returns a pain in the butt so don't even try." They did give me in store credit but unless I need $80 worth of light bulbs in the next 60 days, I won't be using it. I'd rather drive the extra few blocks and go to the hardware store higher up on Noriega than go back to this place. read more

The man said I could and when I came back to return it the man said he couldn't give me my money back, only store credit. He repeatedly asked "what's wrong with you?" I never had a problem with this place until today, and I go here a lot, but probably not after my experience today. It really depends on who is there, the young guys are great. Today some old guy INSISTED on "helping" me. I go to this hardware quite a bit so I could have just gotten what I needed, and left if it weren't for the "assistance" I needed new brackets and a new closet rod, the one in my apartment was cheap and fell down. This guy led me over to buy a full length 12' closet rod when I needed 38" and then tried to get me to buy the kind of bracket you use to support the center of a closet rod, and insisted that that was the correct bracket. It's just not. I asked for the other type and he told me he had them if I wanted them but they wouldn't work, so he begrudgingly showed me their version of the correct bracket. They only had two options, both really cheaply made and low quality. Yeah, those would fall down all right, because they were crap quality, not because they were the wrong kind. I told him they were stamped, and I wanted cast ones, which you can buy pretty much anywhere else, BTW. I left because this guy was really rude and patronizing, his advice was technically wrong, and the product they had was really low quality. I'm a 42 year old machinist, I think I'm capable of hanging a closet rod. What a jerk. read more

Bad experience. I tried to exchange a lead test kit that was defective. They wouldn't take it back because it was opened. How would I have known it didn't work without opening the package and following the directions? The owner has probably heard enough people say that they'll go somewhere else. And then he copped an attitude and asked, "When was the last time you were here?" It was two weeks ago. standard small hardware store with incredibly RUDE staff. the store is messy and customer service is non-existent. the first time i went there - they were rude and not helpful. when i asked if i could return some hardware in case it was the wrong size (NOT in a package!) they said 'no'!. i thought this might be an isolated case, so i ventured back a couple of weeks later for something else. the manager (?) wouldn't stop stuffing his face with a sandwich to answer my questions - he seemed to be irritated that i was 'interrupting' him. (i was the only customer at the time - around 1 pm). and then was sarcastic and RUDE. what surprised me is that generally people who work at hardware stores are very friendly and super helpful, across the board. these people are the worst...i will NEVER return here even though it's the closest to my home. read more

Are there negative stars? At a time of Home Depot and other large hardware stores, you'd think a small neighborhood shop would treat you like that; a neighbor. Instead, incredibly rude and insulting. Returned some rubber bumpers that were supposed to be sticky with adhesive backing which wasn't working either due to age or the fact they were just crappy and cheap. Rather than any kind of customer support, they tried to prove I was wrong and that indeed these things DID stick, while the bumpers repeatedly fell off the glass door ("....they're for glass!") or lifted back off the counter surface as he tried to push it down to prove it was "sticking". I just thought they should know these things were crap, and let they're suppliers know; instead they spent they're time trying to prove me wrong and defend they're product, all the while it was failing their pathetic demonstrations. In the end, they didn't want to refund the $2.99 price because I didn't have my receipt; said it wasn't the money but the "Principle". Principle indeed. Taking my business elsewhere.
