The B&B is located in a nice quiet valley, we kept our bedroom windows open at night! Fresh air is the best sleep aid. The bed in the Bridal Veil room was more comfortable than our bed at home! Each morning we were surprised with culinary art that Steve and Sue can prepare, the food was incredible! The room was perfectly furnished! This B&B beats any of the B&B's we have stayed throughout the country mostly due to the owners (Steve and Sue)

I grew up in Bristol and decided that it was about time to return to my "roots" and see what rural Vermont has to offer. After a quick look, I realized that there were really no motels in there area but apparently in the last few years a few B&Bs have sprung up. As we were traveling with a 4 year old, I wasn't sure if it work out or not, but Sue was more than accommodating and the stars aligned in our favor. I'm sure that since I am from the area, I am too easily charmed by the bucolic splendor, but The Dreamhouse County Inn really captures the mood of country living. We enjoyed fireflies in the twilight, the dark and quiet of a country evening, and a delicious pancake breakfast with fresh raspberries in the pancakes. After breakfast, George took us on a brief walk around the property where we had the chance to visit the raspberry patch and also pick a few fresh blueberries as well. I would strongly recommend a stay at this charming B&B to anyone who wants to spend some quality time away from the hectic city life or is looking for a friendly place to stay while on the road.

Book this place NOW, then come back and read the reviews. I mean it! GO! Now! John is an EXTREMELY…read moreprimo host, welcoming from the instant we pulled into the driveway. He framed a tour for us (hiking, farmers market, swimming, mountain views, picturesque towns) that was the height of our trip. Nailed it! We actually booked the Cozy Screen House the first two nights (beautiful site, CLEAN inside and out, real futon, flashlights, S'more fixings, everything! ) and we almost didn't want to give it up to be inside the Mill. Pictures can't evoke the energy in this place: the scented wood and stone entryway; the warm tones and lighted walls and creaky planks of the main living room and bar; the authentic STEEP climb to the upstairs (shared) bathroom-with teak tub! (Knuckle bite)- oh and then the upstairs private bedroom and sitting room...just outstanding. The constant rush of the river was very soothing. Felt very relaxed and comfortable using the deck, towels, drying rack, coffee maker, and bug spray available. Notes: beautiful natural paths (uneven stones, careful), and gorgeous hand made wooden steps (hold hand rail) from deck to main house. Swimming on site is an unforgettable experience! But not for the faint of heart, or those with vertigo...very steep steps (excellent solid rope hand rail), then an almost vertical ladder of 5-6 steps. Wow! Totally worth it! This is long, I know, but go see them, John and Manjula, their place, their love of laughter, peace, and adventure. Prepare to be enlightened!

We rented out not only the cabin but the studio above the workshop. Each location had it's own charm. The cabin for rent has a large family room and kitchen space. Great for 4 people to share for social time. On the top level is a very comfortable bed with a private bath. Only one couple can really sleep there at night., You can see the owner's personal train tracks from some of the windows as well as the property. The studio above the workshop is great for a couple. With a living room w/EIK and a bedroom. It's a close drive to Waterbury and Burlington as well as a few major ski lodges. Upsides: It really does have a home-y feel and you have a lot of space to move around on. There's WI-FI. Truly lovely worksmanship on the cabin. A cute town named Richmond is nearby for your daily needs. Downside: It's up a mountain that's not paved. During a heavy winter or mud season is becomes a tad hard to reach. Worth the trip up, slightly scary coming down if your not a local.

The owners are very nice and kindly and made us feel at home. The studio was probably about the size of our place in Boston. It had a fully-stocked kitchen with a stove, oven, dishwasher, and full-sized fridge. The bathroom was spacious and had a romantic claw-foot tub. The living area had a phone (important because there was no AT&T cell reception!), flat panel tv, dvd player, and cd player/speakers. I spent most of my time at the bench dining table. The queen-sized bed was very soft, and creaky. A great selection of books sat in the in-wall shelving, including The Perfect Storm. It was lovely to escape the city stressors and spend a quiet weekend relaxing. They rent out space for weddings, too, for anyone looking for an outdoor venue. We hiked along the trails around the area. It was very rainy the previous week so we couldn't do Camel's Hump as planned. Parts of the trail were very muddy and there were bugs everywhere. I got some wicked bad bug bites pre-DEET application. Now I know black flies bite. Also, beware the neighbor-son's dog. The owners' dog Elsa is a sweetie, but the neighbor-son's dog will attack.
