Maple Hill offers an in-expensive and convenient camping experience for those looking to go hiking or sight seeing in the Bristol/Waterbury area. The "downtown" of Bristol is a short drive away if you need to buy supplies or want a nice evening out for dinner and ice cream. They have both wooded and field sites you can get a nice spot right on the river. There is also a bathhouse with running water, showers, and flush toilets. I have never been so pleased with an experience of true human compassion and the people running this campground are what all humans should achieve to be. I know this review may be somewhat cryptic but might I just add: Make sure that you remember that the road for the campground is located across the street from the white house and not to find yourself going down a rocky dirt road in the dark, in a rainstorm, in the fog....Things may not end up well for you haha. Anyways, Martha is the best and thank God for AAA. Check in and registration is at the white house and campsites run about 25/night for non electric sites.

The field sites are huge, and open... they don't offer the privacy but would be a fantastic place camp with a group and stargaze. Maybe the only time I have used a campground bathroom and not had to avoid the hordes of harvestmen/daddylong-legs. And the bathroom lights are solar powered! Super nice owner, low rates, very clean grounds. It's close to some neat swimming holes, hiking and mountain biking trails, as well.

Beautiful views from the top overlooking Charlotte, Lake Champlain and the Adirondack's. On the way down, we chose the paved road. It was a bit more challenging than going up the trail. Parts of the road may be slick and attention needs to be given to vehicles. Staff at the kiosk is super friendly. This is a must!

You have the option of the trail or the road, which happened to be closed to traffic when I was there. The trail was marked well and easy to follow. There were several points that had stairs, making it easier to climb. The view at the top is breathtaking! You get views of the Adirondack mountains and Lake Champlain. It's incredible! There are also picnic areas at the top and plenty of places to spread out. I took the road back down and definitely enjoyed the trail more than the road - it was more peaceful. There are several porta potties in the parking area, which is a nice amenity. Highly recommend!

Tons of families here when I went and I can see why. And many of the sights have incredible views of the lake and the mountains. Side A camping sites were a bit better than side B.

Free warm showers and a washing machine. there's a full service conveniences store with a cool local vibe. We stayed at the state site later in the week which turned into a mud site when it rained for 2 straight days. I'd prefer this site since it has grass and the tent stays "cleaner" since the grass takes a bit longer before it turns into mud. I would visit again.

I went with a total of 5 adults. We got a super spacious site in the back of the campground. The sites are spaced pretty far apart so you get a lot of privacy and don't hear any noise from anyone else. We only stayed for a weekend but they have seasonal campsites as well Not only do they have goats (babies and adults!) but they have a pool, bathrooms/showers, horseshoes, and a playground for the kids. They sell firewood and ice (at super reasonable prices!) and are there to help with pretty much anything you need. One other thing to note is that everything here is so clean and cared for! The owners are constantly cleaning and beautifying the whole place so I can only imagine that it will be even better next time we come back. The bathrooms were always clean and stocked with TP/soap, showers were nice, and the pool was spotless. They also have a 14" wading pool for kids/adults who don't want to go all the way in. I can't recommend this place enough! We will absolutely be back :)

The mediocre: the bathrooms were fine, the shower was warm, but having to push a button every 60 seconds to keep the water coming was odd. One of the people the next campsite over said it reminded him of prison. Haha. The not great: Maybe our particular campsite area hadn't been used in a long while, but it had not been tended-to for quite some time. There was a large ants nest in the fire ring, and I had to rake the area before being able to (feel like I was) safely make/making a fire. I was glad it had rained in previous days because the green pine firewood they were selling popped and showered sparks all over the pine needles. Wi-fi coverage only worked by front of campground (though some 3G phone signal was intermittently available). A gate code is needed to access the campground. We rented a cabin here. There are four. Two of them are 'deluxe' and have indoor cook tops. The others do not allow indoor cooking and have grills outside. The kitchen was very well kitted with everything you could need. The Deluxe cabin we rented was decorated in a cabin style with bear and moose motif items. A table for two in the kitchen, a couch for two or three and a nice rocker. A small desk is in the corner of the livingroom with a kitchen chair for seating. Hooks for coats and a place for shoes by the door. The gas fireplace is shut off in the summer because the pilot heats up the cabin. They are on from Septemer 1st. The bedroom has a queen bed, (linens and blankets provided) full dresser, bedside tables, another kitchen chair (a total of four in the cabin) and luggage rack. Two narrow closets included hangers, extra pillows and towels for the pool or hot tub. Three quarter bath was well maintained. Two bath towels and one hand towel. Hand soap on vanity. Hair dryer and extra TP under sink. Shelves for toiletries. Clothes hook on back of door. Two seats and a table are on the front porch. Our parking space was in front of the porch. A picnic table and firepit are to the right of the porch, at the end of the parking space. Our porch faced the gravel road into the campground. The campground is tiered from the road down to the river with camper spots on each tier. No spots are directly on the river. A field designated as a dog exercise area is next to the river, then a small, rocky beach to the river. The road noise is heard throughout the campground, even at the brook where the river babbles over the stones, which is very pleasant. The onsite store rents tubes for riding the river. A path to the left of the dog area ends where you can put the tube in the water, ride it to the end of the beach and repeat the process. Laundry, public bathrooms and shower bathrooms are in a newer, climate controlled building near the playground. A pass code is needed to enter. Two pools and a hot tub are near the office/store. Mini-golf is behind the store. Dump station on the way out near the dumpsters. Gravel roads are maintained. Some site have full hook-up, fire pit and picnic table. Very pet friendly.

Electricity would not work but Dan, one of the owners, said that somebody must have tried to hook a…read more50 amp into the 30 amp. box. He went about a half block to check breaker said that it was not flipped but it was wobbling pretty loose in there. My husband is a licensed electrician and of course had his own my testing equipment. It showed 25 amp coming out of it. So he said move to spot 50. Well before we moved our vehicle we went down there and checked it and he took off before we could. And guess what the exact same problem. We did not even hook into the second one. So he proceeded to tell us that it was our equipment that had gone bad. Even though we never plugged into spot 50! I had planned on one night thank God! He did refund our $52. we had to drive down the road and try to find someplace else at 7:00 in the evening. Another thank God, the Walmart about 10 or 15 miles down the road would allow overnight. So we are now on our way to our next location which is about a 7 hour drive. We are just hoping that they did not damage our equipment. It has been extremely stressful if you go there you better watch out!

All of the sites are charming in their own right and the access to the lake is wonderful, providing a truly stunning view and wonderful place to cool off. The owners take great pride in the property that they have curated, and it is evident in every inch of the campsite. The facilities are cleaned daily, firewood is available, and the owners are a wealth of local knowledge and insight. this is by far the best campsite we have ever stayed at, the tone set by the owners really does attract a certain level of campers that are respectful and pleasant, there was no loud music, late nights or bright lights blazing through the night. This is an absolutely perfect place to decompress and enjoy the scenery. We cannot wait to come back!

It's a gorgeous place full of warm creative people who both love and appreciate nature and good living, and I have to say that out of all of the times I've been and the places I've stayed, this has been my absolute favorite. Carin & Luke are amazing hosts. They know a lot about the area and if you're looking for recommendations and suggestions about activities, they can point you in the right direction. Hikes, wineries, resorts, festivals, craft fairs, etc. etc. But if you're looking for a quiet getaway, they're not pushy. There's coffee in the morning and a delicious breakfast and their breathtaking property to take in. Mountains and trees and a large pond that you can swim or boat in. The water is clear and refreshing! The accommodations themselves are modern and cozy, bright and spacious, and the rooms are very comfortable. (It's nice to hop into a nice, modern hot shower with good water pressure after a dip in the pond!) While I'd like to keep this to myself, I know that there are city dwellers who are desperately in need of a rejuvenating vacation, and so this is your place! It's a great place to stay local (swim, hike, read books, play games, etc) or use as a home base to do other things in the area. I've stayed at a hotel in Sugarbush and found this B&B to be much more relaxing. Hosted by locals and away from tourists and kitsch, I truly felt immersed in the Vermont experience here! I will definitely stay here again.
