We love this place. We try to go at least once a week. It's family owned and the folks who work here truly seem to like what they do, and each other! We usually sit at the counter, and Carly is our normal server. She's sweet, attentive and always remembers my husband's order (mine changes every time). They keep the coffee and beverages fresh, and smile a lot. The food is solid diner food and comes out fast and hot. read more

the parking lot is kind of confusing, I don't think the cars facing the road are in real spots. also there are not a lot of spots to begin with. the place is pretty small, cashier area next to counter seating and then another room with booths and tables and also outdoor seating. came relatively early in a Saturday, and the place was super crowded. you stand in line between the counter seating and the windows, not much room and this also is in the path of how you exit the place, so those leaving the dining room must pass between you and those sitting at the counter. makes it kind of awkward.. "do I give you the ass or the crotch as I pass through" the food is delicious, the portions are just right for the price. the workers were efficient, pleasant and attentive, considering the volume of people. I got the sausage gravy and biscuits and my husband got the country style eggs (see picture). would definitely come back. read more

I was skeptical at first because it looks so tiny from the outside. The building also looks a little bit dated, but I learned that you cannot judge a book by its cover! We were able to get seated right away outdoors in their undercover seating area. It was absolutely lovely! The breeze was flowing through the area, the servers were very polite and helpful, and the food was absolutely wonderful. The prices are amazing as well! I highly recommend. I always looked forward to eating at this place for breakfast until recently. While I would say I am a regular when I was in town to visit my family, post COVID has changed this place. Since when do you charge $.50 for "honey mustard sauce" on the side, and why does no one ever come back to the table to give me more coffee then if I ask for it to go charge me again for my coffee? The food is solid. The breakfast menu is typical, although not extensive. One thing for sure; the food is cooked to order and cooked how you request. Crispy bacon? Just ask.. I like my home fries well-done. I ask....and receive! The waitresses are seasoned veterans and do a great job. I see people park their cars and walk in and the waitress greets them by name and already has their coffee waiting for them! Who wouldn't go to a place like that? When I'm feeling like I want a place to sit and be comfortable while I eat breakfast, I go to the Sunshine Cafe. The place is small and depending on the time and day of the week, it can be crowded. Great spot to grab breakfast. Huge lot so parking is never an issue, conveniently located right on Ridge Pike. You can expect a small wait if you show up after 9am on a weekend, but the service is quick, so the wait will not be too long. Plenty of counter seats if that is your thing. Pancakes are as big as the plate itself. Not the best I have had, but decent enough. Not what I ordered and my daughter enjoyed them. I had the sausage gravy and biscuits, which were great. A hint of rosemary in the sausage gave it a unique twist. Biscuits were sliced open already and not too heavy. Lots of sausage in there. My wife had a standard 2 eggs over medium w/ scrapple and toast. Huge slab of scrapple and crispy on the outside. Very reasonable prices. 3 meals, a small chocolate milk and two coffees for $28 including tip. They leave a carafe filled with coffee for you and leave plenty of creamers if that's your thing. Super friendly waitress. Everyone working there are very enjoyable to converse with. Recommend over the Limerick Diner any day of the week. read more

Late Saturday lunch on a snowy day -- fairly empty. Corned beef hash hard and overcooked, some hash browns burnt. Waitress apologized and brought another round of corned beef hash -- much better, but too salty and oily for my taste. In contrast, the waitress-recommended hot roast beef sandwich was very good. In the middle were the mediocre tuna melt and the modestly satisfying raisin french toast. In sum, service was excellent, seating was clean and spartan, and the food varied from 2 to 4 stars. read more

I've been going here for many years, and the large majority of my experience has been positive. Most of the staff is friendly, and the food is good. Plus unlike a lot of spots, credit cards are taken. Recently though I had a incredibly rude server who botched the pancake order. When my sister-in-law went to complain that we were charged incorrectly, the server pulled SOMEONE ELSE'S half eaten pancake from the trash, shoved it in my sister in law's face in order to try and prove we were wrong! Incredible find! This place is great. Service was superb. There was a mother/daughter team who were just adorable (sorry, I forgot your names). The menu was a lot better and broader than we expected, and the food was excellent. We had a big group, but we're seated quickly and serviced well. We had everything from fresh local strawberry waffles to corned beef to an omelet to a standard blt and more - not a complaint at the whole table. We returned here for breakfast after a lengthy hiatus that was due to the thirty minute drive time and not any particular dissatisfaction. This small, old-timey restaurant is immediately adjacent to a major highway and is readily accessible to an ample parking lot. Upon entering, you walk past a long counter area to get to the where the tables are located. The stools at the counter were all occupied the day of our visit. I would describe the decor as in a time warp, with a Edward Hopper feel yet with more clientele. Everyone we came in contact here was pleasant, accomodating, and generous with their smiles. The food was the usual diner fare though well prepared with fresh ingredients. The menu also included several tempting more innovative choices for us to mull over yet we felt that the prices were a tad higher than what the area would command. Today we were seated and the waitress asked if we could move to a smaller table so they could use ours for a bigger group. Not a problem! But what was really nice was they paid for our meal for the "inconvenience ". They also noted the time it took for us to eat but it really wasn't that long. We had lunch here for the first time. We found the place to be unique and very friendly. Upon entering the first thing you see is the activity in the kitchen and food prep area, then walking thru the counter seating area to the separate dining area. We found the service to be very friendly, and the menu had a wide variety of interesting choices. We chose the soup and half sandwich. The homemade soups were hardy and tasty.
