    Burger and fries.
    Paula K.

I noticed this diner near where I was staying in Kitsilano. One can't help but notice the figures of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe when passing by. I stopped in for supper and felt like I was stepping into a time zone. The place is full of '50s decor and Tom and Jerry cartoons play on small tvs from above. The menu includes all-day breakfast and other items. I went for a basic burger and fries. The portion size was overwhelming. The burger was thick and juicy, on a brioche bun with aioli, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. The thin fries were a mountain of crispness. Prices are quite high - my meal was $23 without a beverage and my pop was $4 with refills. Service could have been better - I pretty much had to get my server's attention when I wanted a pop refill and the bill. But the portion size and food quality was impressive.

Have you seen Back To The Future? Walking into this place was like going back in time, and I'm not just referring to the charming decor, but also the genuine service and the great menu. Ok here it goes....these days I find that when I eat out I can't escape the reality of 2023 dine out. Which is what?.....well....paying more for less and having a robot serve it.....half the time luke warm. This place reminded me of a time before capitalism took over, before the internet where you had to actually...yeah....make eye contact and smile at another human being, before paranoia was an underlying theme. Ok.. getting a little sidetracked. The menu was awesome. They have plenty of everything. My go-to breakfast are Benny's and they have a colourful selection of those. Every single item was fresh, beautifully put together with care and attention and the potatoes were baked nicely paired with a generous cup of fruit (see pic.) The coffee was good...actually quite good considering it was just a house roast and it was served in a sparkling clean cup. The entire restaurant was super clean...which I loved. You know...no little drips on the rim where the server explains....Oh it must've dripped from the pot, or little dusty corners on the booth seats, and water marks on the tables from whatever semi-wet wiping rags were used from the previous guests. Nope. This place was immaculate. The Service. Exceptional. Not only were they friendly...they were genuine. Yes there's a difference. Some places they are friendly but not genuine....you know...the forced smiles. Then there is genuine friendly where you can feel the appreciation, the gratitude and a vibe that could only mean...they wanna be there. They like what they do and are happy to have you there. Energy and vibe...goes a long way...in either direction. Not for a second did we have to ask for anything. It was provided before we even knew we wanted it. SUNSHINE DINER...may your rays keep this beautiful chilly city warm for many years to come.

Must visit Elvis themed diner with a retro vibe. We Ordered: Blackstone Eggs Benedict (bacon, tomato, homemade hollandaise sauce, home fries, and fresh seasonal fruit) $19.95 French Toast Breakfast w/ Oktoberfest Sausage (2 eggs, home fries, and fresh seasonal fruits $23.45 Black Coffee w/ milk Orange Juice Both of us agreed that this was one of the better diners we have dined at in vancouver and we can't wait to go back There's plenty of paid and free street parking available.

I would love to submit a review of the food, but the service was so terrible that I wasn't even able to place an order for my kids to eat. It wasn't even busy on the day that we went and found it to be ridiculous that they would sit us at the back table in the corner (enough for 8 people) when there were other tables near the front enough for the five of us. Our "server" told us she would be with us in a few minutes when then ended up being over 15 minutes so we just decided to leave since my wife and kids were all hungry. I wanted to drink water, but didn't want to do so with the cup that was given to me with lipstick on it. Also, to charge $16.95 for toast, two eggs, potatoes, and fruit is just highway robbery! If you want good service and decent pricing on food, there are other places in the area that can do that much better than this place.

I definitely like the decor of this place. Very trendy and hip. Its like its decorated and designed by an Elvis fan. Or restaurant owned by an Elvis fan. Food here is mediocre. Service is super friendly. The restaurant is popular around neighboring locals. So came here and just ordered the classic egg Benedict. It was not bad. It came with potatoes and fruits. The potatoes were interesting. Flat and crispy. I like it that way. The fruits were awesome and is a very generous portion. Very tropical. There are outdoor seating as well and is great on a hot day. Parking is a hit and miss in the area. But there are free parking and can be found. Just need to be patient and roam around plus a little bit of luck. Overall, I highly recommend coming here. Its nice.

Sunshine diner is located on the west Broadway and Trafalgar street. It has vintage Hollywood theme and some portraits of 50's/60's Hollywood stars. There are some red vinyl booth seats and jukebox too. After we shopped at farmers market, we came here for brunch. Glad we bit the rush and arrived early to avoid the line up. The extensive menu and friendly service. Good enough to gain my 4 star rating! My mom had Traditional egg benny, it's decent and eggs cooked perfectly. I ordered Mushrooms burger, I smelled full aroma of beef patty when I ate it. Fresh made patty, juicy and delicious. Funky diner restaurant and reasonable price. I would like to go back to try other dishes.

Little Anthony and the Imperials Peggy March Ricky Nelson The Flamingos The Five Satins Those were some of the artists that I heard when I came here today. Music from the 50's and early 60's. The TV played I love Lucy, The Monkees, as well as a Jerry Lewis movie. It's definitely a retro themed diner. Standard breakfast and diner food. Nothing terribly outstanding and nothing terribly bad, therefore a solid and very enthusiastic 3 stars A-OK. Coffee was some run of the mill stuff. Not bad. Decor maybe something you'd come back for if you're into the retro thing. Noteworthy mentions: The burger is a flame grilled thick patty quite good. Shoe string fries are quite delish. Tip: Line ups on the weekend for brunch can get pretty long.

Me and my friends were doing secret santa in this restaurant. The staff was very kind, friendly and happy to see us having fun. The portions are very generous, and overall the price is reasonable. Even if you're a picky eater you can find some good options :) The ambience is very north-american and definitely worth it!

The website says to get there by 8:30 if you want to grab a table without waiting which we thought was crazy, but when we showed up at 8:32 we managed to snag the last free table so they're spot on with their timing! Lots of parties showed up right after us and the waitlist was super long by the time we left. As for ambiance, it's meant to be a greasy spoon diner at the back of a lumber yard so that's exactly what it is. The only part I wasn't expecting and didn't enjoy was that every few minutes you got a waft of the washroom smell even though we were sitting far from it, mostly because there's not a ton of ventilation in a small spot. The staff were super friendly and attentive which was lovely! I got the veggie omelette which came with their shredded hash browns and bread and my partner got the burger and fries. Everything was delicious! Huge portions and well priced. I especially loved the hash browns which were crispy on the outside. Overall a great spot! Just make sure to get there early if you don't want to wait

The staff took our name and number and texted us around 20 minutes later once our table was ready. The hot chocolate was just okay, the breakfast food was good and what you'd expect from a diner, but what really stood out was the dumplings. They were so good, definitely get the spicy wontons! Really good restaurant but I'd recommend coming on a weekday if possible to avoid a long wait.

Service was good, friendly. The restaurant is the same as I recall, clean enough. A little cramped and the seating isnt too comfortable. Its really not a good place to hang out for a long time, but rather sit down, eat, and get out type of place. I had the lavender latte and the Tagine this time. Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. If you have to park, then you may find street metered parking or use one of the nearby paid lots.

The side salad that came with it, usually phoned in at a diner, was assorted greens with cucumber and tomatoes and chickpeas, with a nice honey mustard dressing. These little touches really make for a nice experience, and help the prices make sense - you really do get what you pay for. I've split a slice of pie and feasted on one of their stack of chocolate chip cookies. Yum. I've even come in for just a bowl of delicious tomato soup, served with soft sourdough.
