Old school diner décor with friendly staff (complete with red booth tables). It's a pretty spacious restaurant. There is decently priced parking nearby (I think it was around $2/hour, meter parking) that is within a 5 min walk from the restaurant. It is a slightly sketchy area though. MONSTROUS burger with 2pc of fried chicken and Chipotle mayo. They only use chicken breast so it can get a tad dry. I also liked their buttermilk biscuit, served with sausage gravy and more chicken. Definitely super filling. Bonus points for having milk alternatives available with the coffee. My order: Chicken Giant Burger ($19.75) Chicken & Biscuits w/ Gravy ($16) Coffee

Was searching Vancouver for a good greasy soon diner. I found what I was looking for right here at Deacon's Corner. I was craving a classic biscuits, gravy and hash browns. This delivered! I had breakfast here and was full until mid-afternoon. Hit the spot!

Wow, wow, wow I really loved this place. The food was probably the best we've had all weekend in Vancouver. The waiters were extremely nice and made time to chat with us during our time there. Not sure if it's women-owned but it was super cool to see only women staff.

Old school diner nothing fancy. I had the fried chicken eggs Benny it was okay. The hollandaise wasn't the best. The fried chicken was the best part if I was to go again I would try their chicken burger instead. My partner had corned beef hash. It wasn't the best. The meat was so fatty the ratio of peppers to everything else was also way off(way too much). The pepper could have done with a few more mins on the top. It gets a 3* the service was good the ladies were nice and we were seated pretty quickly for a Sunday.

Fun, funky, cute diner vibes. Generous portions for breakfast. Great bread for our toast.

Deacon's Corner has the perfect balance of old school diner meets contemporary cool foodie hangout. Do not let my photographs fool you. There were always people coming in and out of Deacon's Corner with smiles on their faces and a nice thing to say. (I just like to try and respect people's privacy when I can.) In fact the serving staff were so super friendly and cheerful, you can not help but be in a good mood when you visit. One of the guests told us that before their recent renovations the place truly looked like it had been plucked out of the 60s, but with all the wear and tear, so the changes were great improvements. I loved it. A perfect blend of retro and modern. We both ordered the Carolina Pulled Pork and Pancakes but got the mini (yes, that is the small portion) which Chef J. C. (Juan Carlo) used his creative and artistic foodie talents to make extra special for us! Oh my goodness I could not stop laughing when this adorable plate came to our table! And wow, WOW, it was so good! The eggs were butter-basted, the pulled pork sweet but not too sweet, absolutely delicious, and I think those were the fluffiest pancakes I have ever had. I have not stopped thinking about this delicious brunch since I indulged... Deacon's Corner may not have been around since the 50s (they opened in 2009) but it has to be one of the coolest diners I have ever visited. Its location bridges East Van and Gastown so its setting is a little rough around the edges but the customers and staff make it feel like home. It was the perfect brunch. Everything was charming and the food? OMG, the food was so delicious. I MUST go back! You can find my full review here: http://www.suziethefoodie.com/brunch-deacons-corner-gastown/

Came here on Sunday with a group of 5 that quickly became of a group of 7; most places would flip out over this very fact, but the folks at Deacons just grabbed more cutlery and menus and made us feel right at home. Our waitress happily jumped up on a chair and took a sweet team photo of all 7 of us and she split the bills out without even being asked to. The portions here are masssssive (my pancake was the size of a dinner plate: fluffy and amazing), the service is fast and efficient and the prices are most definitely right. We came here for a boozy breakfast and managed to drink Deacon's out of vodka, but they happily ran over to the liquor store to buy more: hooray!

This is my favourite spot for the classic Bacon and Eggs. You rarely have to wait for a table and the service is great!

The food is standard fair but the prices are outrageous and the service good until the manager showed up with a stick up her ass.

Husband loved his penne bolognese and I settled for the Cajun Crab & Spinach Dip with tortilla chips for my main course. It was all really delicious and tasted hot & fresh. Cocktails were good--I especially liked the Jalapeño Margarita. Our server was attentive and always appeared as soon as we needed anything. Tip: when we arrived we were offered the choice of dining room or outdoor patio and we chose indoors because it was a chillier evening. The patio was enclosed in an enormous canopy but we didn't want to chance it. However as were leaving we found plenty of happy diners outdoors on the patio; there were space heaters everywhere and it was quite warm and comfortable. We will select patio next time. Can't wait to come back to the Cactus Club Cafe!

Always spot on every time I order it. Not pictured was the salmon aburi which I returned after 3 bites as the outer edges of the rolls that I had were torched as part of the process of torching the salmon. Beautiful presentation but did not like it. Bartender Jonah had it removed from my bill after talking to the Manager. NA local beer of Noony IPA pictured in the can was quite tasty and one of the better NA IPAs that I've tried. Overall still prefer the Canada Place location as it feels more spacious based on the layout as dining is on one level.

Service was good, friendly. The restaurant is the same as I recall, clean enough. A little cramped and the seating isnt too comfortable. Its really not a good place to hang out for a long time, but rather sit down, eat, and get out type of place. I had the lavender latte and the Tagine this time. Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. If you have to park, then you may find street metered parking or use one of the nearby paid lots.

The star of the show here was absolutely the spicy vodka which I had with their gluten free noodle, I must admit that this is probably one of the best spicy vodka sauces I've ever had! They did everything they could to accommodate my celiac. Of course eat where you feel comfortable, what works for me may not for you. Lastly, the location is very vibey. The indoor and outdoor seating options are both awesome choices. They had great music playing that was not too loud and allowed patrons to be able to still chat.
