As a loyal customer of this establishment for a year, I never imagined I would have to write a review like this. I became a loyal customer of Sunshine due to their great tasting food and amazing portions. During my last visit, I had received 4 chicken tikka rolls with little to no chicken on each. When I brought this unusual problem up to management, they denied any change in their portions. After going back and forth with this very unprofessional manager, I simply asked for a refund, which I was also denied for reasons unspecified. I ordered takeout from them today and ordered Chicken 65, to my surprise when I was taking out the chicken to heat up there was on piece with paper wrapped around It and fried. Once every two weeks we always stop by to get something for take out. We love their Naan and Tikka Masala. Perfect pairing. We use the Tikka Masala for the Naan dipping sauce. Their chicken Kebab is a must to get!!! And their chickpeas also great! So tasteful. Their price also affordable. read more

So I understand why the reviews speak ill of this establishment but this is not a place you go to for a fine dining experience - this is a place you go to for some darn good food that tastes like street food from back home. Every last thing in this place is amazing, the kebabs and naan are made fresh (and they're dirt cheap!), the entrees are delicious, the biryani, spinach and potatoes/spinach and paneer, chickpeas, daal, butter chicken, mutton curry, all just absolutely mind blowing!!! Also highly recommend their apps, my personal favourites are the chicken spring rolls and chicken 65. If you're looking for a place to get cheap indo/paki takeout for dinner to heat up at home, definitely come here. AS of 8/27/2020, open without seating. Cozy cafeteria style with LARGE selection of bread, curry/stews, pakora, rice, etc...The tandoori fish was a grilled whole pomfret rubbed with spices. Not fishy at all, moist, and flavorful ($12). The goat curry was tomato-based, not spicy, and rich in flavor. The sauce was a little thin though. Chana was basic but still delicious! Bold flavor with just the right amount of heat. Fragrant spices and soft chickpea texture without being overly soft. Only comment was that the food was cool and needed to be heated up. I ordered around dinner time (6pm) so maybe the food was sitting out for a while in the trays and cooled off? Anyways, I returned home, threw the fish into the air fryer, and warmed the curries in a pot. Had my own rice and naan on the side. TADA. Dinner is served. Service was slightly lacking but I wasn't expecting to sit down service. The plastic barrier for covid prevention made it difficult to order along with the fact that the server was wearing a mask (yay for health precautions) but not much of a problem at all. Went for lunch today, big place, completely empty, no one came to check in on us for a good 5-7 mins, by now we decided that we will just order and take out. After a few mins one guy walk out of the kitchen, I suppose? He came and just stood by the desk. By now we have the take out menu which we picked up from the front. The first thing we asked him if we could have the salmon, his reply was , we don't have salmon?? We got so put off that we just left. The guy just couldn't care less. Very bad quality food. I had Halwa puri with family, it was served cold and Chana was smelling, it was old too. Also they over charge you. Price are different for pick up and dine in. Once upon a time this place used to be decent place. Not anymore! Ordered nun,Chicken Bihari kabab and tandoori chicken wings. Bihar dry, no flavor. Chicken wing, you can't go wrong as long it's seasoned! No salt , no flavor, under cook, seems they just put some orange color and baked it!won't be going there any time soon. The best Pakistan food by me! Loved their Chicken Tikka Masala, wat I've ever had. I also had a beef dish, maybe beef curry. Their food is 100% authentic, so tasty so flavorful. They had so many options and the lady who served us was very attentive. Not sure if it's because my boyfriend and I aren't from Pakistan (I'm Filipino and he's Italian) but either way I have no complaints. Wow, tons of terrible reviews. I have never eaten in, however their catering business is quite popular and their food is known to be good. I recently needed catering for a small gathering. They were responsive, were able to have it ready with less than 24 hours notice, and everything was done on time. The food is pretty good; in terms of taste it's probably the best in the area and it's reasonably priced. They even helped carry out the trays to the car. I'm disappointed reading the cleanliness comments especially, though. Yikes. This is the usual concern with South Asian restaurants and I just wish they would get their act together, what a difference it would make in their business. read more

If I could give this place a zero I would! The staff and servers are rude and manipulative. They over charge for everything and make up prices as they go. I was charged service charge I asked if that was part of the tip she said no tip is tip. (Never have I ever had to pay that before when I went there) They were upset because we kept asking them questions about the food and why they didn't have a menu with prices. The server did not speak English and was upset at us because she didn't understand us. When we were given our bill at the end they charged us extremely high prices compared to the last few times I went there. They gawk you down as you get up for napkins and even drinks and jot down every sip you take of your water. As for the food, the potato and veggie curry was not fresh and the rice and butter chicken was cold. The only positive thing about this place was their naan. Came here to order a dozen chicken samosas. I saw that there were only 8 behind the counter. I placed my order with an older gentleman & he walked back to the kitchen to work on my order (what I assumed). Twenty minutes later after seeing the workers rush back and forth from the kitchen to the front counter to help other patrons with their orders, one of them asks me what I ordered. "Sorry we only have these 8 chicken samosas." ((Blood starts to boil)). I kindly told her that the older gentleman took my order & never updated me. She went to check the kitchen & told me that that's all they had available. Assuming she would expedite my order right then and there...she walked back to the kitchen. I would've loved to express my displeasure but I was strapped on time (couldn't wait for her to come back out) & had to leave unhappy & samosa-less. The naan is delicious and the chicken 65 pretty descent but this place is SO unsanitary it's ridiculous. The unpleasant older lady would handle the register and then use the same hand to pick up chicken (yes with her hand) and put the food in a plastic container. Cash is the dirtiest thing because it gets transferred from person to person. You shouldn't use the same hand to pick up people's food. Not sure why she doesn't use a spoon of some sort. This place is a complete scam. Both of the times I've been here they've ripped me off. The first time I came here, a young man at the cash register recommended the chicken kabab because it was fresh. When the older chef heard this, he came out from the back kitchen and gave the young man a scolding (in Urdu) about how the beef kebabs need to go because they had been sitting out for a while. The chef then took over the register and charged me $1.50 a kabab when there was a sign right behind him saying that it was $1.00 a kebab. I figured I'd give this place a second chance so I came here with a friend for dinner and got some rice, chicken and spinach curries. The guy at the counter completely overcharged us ($2.00 a nan when again, the sign said $0.75) for our meal. We paid anyway figuring that the extra would've been the tip but it's incredibly annoying to be told one price and be charged double that. So I have been going to this place for sometimes mostly for naans and the reshmi kababs. Today when I went the pandora box was opened as the Health and Food Inspector was there. The place looked cleaner than usual....told them to heat up the goat curry meat as no one eats cold foot especially in chilly weather. The lady on the counter said I will not warm up the food as Health inspector is here! I said so routinely you provide us with "unhealthy" food that go against food and health regulations! This is the most horrible place . They are frauds . I have a bank statement attached which clearly shows that they swiped my debit card twice at the same time . I bought food for $54.54 and then for another 49.42 . Theyfirst charged me under shandar kebab . Then another transaction without my authorization they did under khana peena name which i dont even know .i took the receipt to show it to them and requested them please refund me the money very politely they started misbehaving and abusing . And didnt even fear the fact that they made a fraud transaction . So please avoid this place and see before giving them your debit or credit cards . Walking along Hillside Avenue in search of good Indian food/dessert, we decided to try the food at the Sunshine Grill & Restaurant. Like many ethnic restaurants, the Sunshine Grill can be considered a "no frills" restaurant where you're paying for the food and not the service. I agree with other yelpers that for whatever reason, the food is served cold and microwaved warm for dining customers. Not realizing our food was cold until we arrived home, the chicken biryani with side orders of chicken, beef and lamb kabibs were actually very good after a few minutes in microwave. The Gulab dessert balls were also good. Several yelpers complaint that the food is old (as in sitting unheated on the counter) and have questioned the cleanliness. It's been over an hour since we ate the food and there are no signs of needing to be near a toilet. We do plan to order takeout again and try the other food items. On the next visit, we'll also ask why is the food cold and hopefully get a reasonable answer.
