I am a thrift store-holic. I love shopping at thrift stores. This location is one of my favorite thrift stores. I was there this past weekend and once again I found some nice finds. Blouses, jeans, a purse, and a few other articles of clothing for $40 that would have cost at least three times that new. Some of the women's blouses can be on the high side but I have found some great deals there. Overall the prices are pretty good. The cashiers are nice and friendly. They offer restrooms to the public which is a plus. There are also changing rooms near the restrooms which I use if the other changing rooms near the women's clothing are packed. Great place to find all types of clothing, shoes, furniture and home items! I like going to thrift stores to look for theme outfits or costumes at a good deal such as the mermaid sequin dress pictured, but sometimes I end up finding some great deals on items that are way more expensive at retail price. read more

I still prefer the St. Pete location, but this wasn't bad. Not much furniture - lots of decent clothing. I went in a Saturday, so fairly crowded. Will try a weekday next time. I used to like this thrift store until tonight. I got to the dressing room at 7:31 and they had closed all but 3 rooms (official "closing time" for dressing rooms is 7:45, which to me, if the store is open until 8pm, means they won't let you IN to start trying on after that) so I had to wait. Fine, I guess, but didn't make sense to me that I'd have to wait to start trying clothes on if they're trying to help customers get their final purchases decided and checked out. (What all is entailed in closing a dressing room anyway?) Anyway, I get into a room at 7:35 ish. I'm the kind of person who rehangs clothes as I try them on, rather than leaving a pile in the dressing room). I hear two employees talking about when they're turning the lights off.. "at the 7:45 announcement". I have about 3 things left to try on and all the lights go dark. Ok, so they don't want me trying anything else on, (weird, it's a for profit store even though it's thrift.) I got dressed, went out, asked If they could turn the lights back on so I can see what I'm doing and collect the thing I want to purchase and the lady tells me the light are "automatic". Really?! I just heard you discussing when you'd turn the lights off and it seems like a safety hazard to me to not have lighting in a store that's open. Some man tells me to go over to another part of the store where there are lights ... Like haul all my stuff over to a light to sort it out? He proceeds to mock me like I'm asking for some special accommodation while the rest of them stand there looking like they have no control over the situation and I'm some Karen. I won't be back. I get they sell stuff for $2 a piece but I don't HAVE to shop there, I choose to because I think thrifting is fun. That's a pretty crappy way to treat your customer that just wants to collect items to pay for them when they store is still open for 15 min. Guess my business doesn't mean that much. read more

I used to come here and buy tons of records for $1 each. Then, not sure who decided to get greedy but then the store separated crappy records from the more popular ones and started pricing the more known records ridiculously high. We are talking really bad quality records with tons of scratches on them selling for $30-$75+ for some of them When I approached manager and told them, her response was "Well, they're selling so...." That sounded to me in my opinion, "if people are stupid enough to buy then at that price for that quality..." Yea, not morally a good place anymore. Won't be visiting them anymore and that's sad cause I used to go atleast twice a week and always bought records there. They are acting like they are pricing their records like a used record store when in fact they should be pricing them more like a 2nd hand store. They dont have a clue on pricing records. read more

I had not been in that store for several years probably 15 or more at least but my daughter wanted to shop for a Halloween costume. We spent a few hours and I found a skirt and top. After waiting in a long line as I handed the skirt to the cashier she announced loudly while pointing to the sign that she couldn't sell it to me because the tag was missing. I explained it must have come off while I was tryng it on but she continued to repeat herself as if I was a criminal who had intentionally tried to get something over on them. The tag that was on it was for $5 but since it was red it would have been $2.50 since red tags were half off that day. Either way I would have gladly paid the $5. Then the manager is called up to write a price on 3 non tagged items my daughter was buying so I politely asked if he could give me a price and he shook his head and loudly said absolutely not for tagged items. So how much effort would it have been for him to have given me a price so I could purchase the skirt? He was able to go out of his way to come to the front of the store to the register to price non clothing that was unmarked but unwilling to do so for a single skirt. I didnt want to lose my place in line to go look for the tag or to possibly retrieve it from the dressing room not knowing if they would even accept it so I just wound up buying the shirt. I felt embarrassed and as if they were assuming I had intentionally tried to put something over on them when all I wanted was the price so I could purchase the skirt at whatever price didnt matter. Seriously petty attitude considering everything in there is donated. I wont be back. read more

I use to shop here often on both senior and military discount days and up until recently they respected my constitutional rights by honoring my medical exemption for not wearing a mask. But on a recent visit the manager told me he did not respect or uphold the constitution of the United States or Americans with disability act ADA by demanding even with a medical exemption I had to wear a mask. If you or he believe that a business has a right to refuse service to me then you also don't know or understand the constitution or your rights. Mask mandates are not laws...only the legislature can make a law. This business will be put on a list along with many others who are breaking actual laws that state if they sell to the public they have to follow and honor ADA laws. They are also illegally giving medical advice without a medical license......I know because I am a medical professional who earned my medical degrees. So this business is erroneously or purposely disobeying actual laws and enforcing mandates that have no legal jurisdiction. Know your constitutional rights and demand them or you will lose them. And businesses like this may lose their licenses for violating actual laws. read more

NOT impressed with the prices. So much stuff in here is out of date and is marked up way too high. Came here to look for a winter coat for a trip and some of the coats where $50-$80. If I wanted to spend that much I would of just gone to a regular retail store. The store has a nasty smell when you walk in and feels unclean. I am never in the area of where Sunshine Thrift Stores was located. I just happened to be this past Sunday. The place is pretty organized for a thrift store. They have their bins of specific stuff all in the same area. You go through the clothes and some are really good prices, some are really pricey. You just have to know which ones to pick, and what price you want to spend. I notice they have orange and yellow tags on that day that are 1/2 off. That's an added price saver there. I would definitely be back if I am in the area. read more

Nice store with a great selection, I was quite surprised at how good of shape the clothing was in. They have signs posted at the front of the store letting you know that they can't sell an item that doesn't have a tag. I found a shirt that I really liked and, of course, it was missing a tag. I took it up to the checkout hoping that a manager could look at it and figure out how much it costs or give it another tag so I could buy it. Our cashier (Dawn, I believe) told me I wouldn't be able to buy the shirt since it didn't have a tag, going as far as to say that it was a real shame since the shirt was so nice. I said I saw the signs and understood, but was wondering if there was a manager who could look at the shirt and give it another tag or figure out another way to sell it to me, to which she replied "No." and then went on to once again say that it's a shame because the shirt is very nice, rubbing it in once wasn't enough I guess. In short, despite the great selection, I will not be returning to this store because of the poor customer service. I know for a fact that there are several Goodwill stores in the bay area that provide better service than I was given here. read more

My first visit to this Thrifty store. This place is HUGE! They have a great selection of clothing and shoes. I found a 2 piece suit for only $5.45, Unfortunately, it was a little too big for me. The staff was friendly and the place was clean and neatly organized. I ended up leaving with a blazer, a pair of slacks and a long sleeve blouse all for $9.42. Love it!!!!!! THis is like my new spot. I came here once on Sunday and then on Moday after work because I came upon these wonderful treasures ready.....? I found the mother of all mother skirts. Pencil skirts like the pin up girls use to wear! Oh how im in love and how it changed my whole style who knew. The best part is that I did not even come in fo the skirts and the best part I got like 5 skirts all for 13 bucks.. I absolutely love Sunshine! The store is always very well organized. The items are organized by department and then by size but past that it's a bit of a free for all. I can come in with a general idea of what I'm looking for and find a wide selection of things that will do. The quality of the items I find are always very good. I rarely see anything with even the slightest rips or tears. The pricing is always very fair for the pieces and every day something is on sale. Every day there are certain color tags that are half off so the price you see may not be the price you pay. read more

Sunshine Thrift has cleaned up nicely over the years. They have some of the most organized/surprisingly separated men's sections (jackets, shirts, nightwear, sportswear) I've seen in thrift stores. The t-shirt sections are kind of unorganized and massive though. Sometimes they put small t-shirts in the little boy's section, so I have to ninja browse to feel like I'm not a creeper. But it's always worth the laugh when you find an XS emo band tee amongst Spongebob shirts. Overall, I can usually find a treasure or two, which makes it worth the visit. I'm so sad to say this, but - the more changes management makes, the worse the store becomes. I've been shopping here for 10+ years. Used to stop by every week for amazing bargains - now I barely come every couple of months. To be clear - this is a direct result of their increasingly poor policies and rising prices. Anything with a vaguely "fancy" tag - Express, Banana Republic, Gap, you get the idea - is marked up above and beyond reasonable thrift store prices. Stained, used, five-years-old shirts for $12-$15, stuff with the Target tags still on it for 10% off the original retail price...and then there's $60 leather jackets, $50 sports jerseys, and $50 jeans. I think they have forgotten that they're a thrift store. And it's not just the prices- every time I turn around, there's another lousy policy that makes the store even more customer-unfriendly. They're constantly adding restrictions to what you can use the sale coupons on, they grab your phone out of your hand at checkout to scrutinize your coupon (as if you're trying to scam them out of a few measly dollars), they spend more time analyzing your ID than a bouncer at a college bar, the ladies who put out the racks of clothing physically shove past you and your shopping cart if they don't like where you're standing...you get the picture. I get it - they've clearly had some bad experiences with bad clientele, but they sure seem intent on running off their loyal and honest customers to compensate. It really is a shame. read more

This store is terrible. If you want to waist your time go ahead and head here. The prices are outrageous. A nasty turkey fryer for 59.99. Target sells them brand new for 69.99. It's a joke. If your are looking for anything in particular I recommend eBay... literally they match all there prices to ebay sold listings. You won't get any good deals here. This "thrift store" is more about making money then it is helping people... all the stuff is literally handed to them for free and they still think they can charge whatever they want for it. Just left sunshine it's my favorite store in Tampa .... I was 5 mins late getting to the register because I was switching out a mens shirt a bday gift for my boyfriend and the manager "miss Lisa" approached me to yell in my face to say GET TO YOUR REGISTER WE ARE CLOSED I'm deaf so I honestly didn't hear her I told her I can't hear and she screamed out "IM DEAF TOO" and stormed off wow....... She is a disgusting human being for acting the way she did :( I work at a clothing store and I would never act like that !!!!!!! I innocently and unaware started a theme party motif among my friends. It all began way back in July when a friend kindly suggested he would teach my two monkeys how to make Puerto Rican pasteles. Of course, I would not bother with this whole-day, exhausting, very messy project unless another lunatic came up with the absurdity and hosted it. Pasteles are our very different version of Mexican Tamales and normally limited, God-only-knows-why, to the Christmas season, which in the island, runs from the day after thanksgiving to the end of January-first week of February; because we must celebrate and keep our decorations almost until Valentine's day. I suggested we all dressed like Minga and Petraca (google and laugh) and other New Yorican fashionismo. Pictures were taken, distributed, gossip started, texting happened, angry uninvited friends rallied. The result? Costume party galore. So I had to come up with 80's outfits for one party and 1950's outfits for a Rum Diaries themed one. Of course I enjoy the freedom to be creative and wear a lot of accessories that normally I wouldn't dare no matter, in all humility, how fabulous I look in everything. I hate to buy new clothes and perhaps deconstruct and ruin them in the process. My glue gun is an extension of my hand...but I have discovered just recently how wonderful the world of Thrift stores really is. So I discovered (by accident) a thrift store for children. I almost got pregnant on the spot out of cheer glee when I got in and saw all the cuteness. Sunshine Thrift Store drove me wild. I spent about four hours going around and picking accessories and dresses. Sita, the kind woman who helped me, egged me on. I was smiling the whole time and other shoppers made fun of my joy. I would just be sillier than I normally can be when I find a bargain. The store is big. It has books, VCR tapes, jewelry, lots of hats, belts, shoes, purses, and rows and rows and rows of clothes sorted by types. I have read that some people do not find it as cheap, but for me, the prices were an insanity. I bought some Michael Kors animal print shoes for $14.99! and a BCBG/Max Azria silk dress for... wait for it... wait for it... $6.99 in mint condition. No, of course those had zero to do with the 1950's or the 80's or the batita (old woman night gown) I needed for the parties...but they were there, on my way, wanting to be found... the universe wanted me to have them too. After trying over ten dresses, some fit and others didn't because I can be voluptuous that way... but I found the perfect two dresses and the most incredible hat (for $2.95). I also found a pair of earrings that are two papier maché red cherries with their stem and leaves. Adorable. I bought some red patent leather peek-a-boo shoes that are hot. Enough said. Sita made me promise that I would return each week because there is always new merchandise coming in and now she knows what I like (not really, because I do not normally go out wearing 1950's outfits... but I like her so much that I will pretend just for fun... or undergo a big fashionista transformation out of love.) Everybody was helpful and friendly. I did hear that during the weekends it gets crowded and the aisles are not big enough for two people so I guess I will return during the mornings and during the weekdays so that I could carefully search and find and delight in my new treasures. read more

This thrift store has a very large selection of both regular women's and plus-sized women's clothing. They frequently have specials and they have so much foot traffic that their stock is frequently turned over. The Con: The parking lot is shared with other businesses and it can be challenging to find a spot. Tip: Buy a couple of burgers at Krystal next door and park there! read more

I went here for the first time the other day, on their half off sale day. I knew it was the half off sale but didn't know that I need a coupon to get the discount. I told the cashier that I would pay full price and would sign up for the mailing list to get the next coupon. She was awesome and gave me half price on everything. I got about 12 items for $40. All of the items were Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, INC in great condition (though it took me over an hour to find those items). They have a pretty large selection of clothing priced anywhere from $2-$11 (from what I saw). I got a beautiful brand new London Times dress, new with tags attached, for $5. Like most thrift stores some of the items are in great condition, some look like they need to be thrown away. I got two new with tag items. Personally I wouldn't come here unless the sale is going on (then again I buy to resell, so obviously I need to maximize my profit). Next week is the St. Pete stores sale and I can't wait to go see that one to see how it compares to the Tampa location. I'll definitely be visiting Sunshine Thrift on their sale days. If you do go on a sale day just remember that it will be crowded, parking is fairly limited, and some people are kind of pushy, though some are really nice. read more

Section was pretty big, and they have a good layout for social distancing, however their customer service is awful, the older lady with glasses at the register provided a delightful source of rude comments and attitude. My advice would be to be more welcoming and less attitude. read more

I was a weekly shopper here for over ten years. Sometimes even going 3x/week. Anytime I had family or friends visit, this was my go-to gem to show off. I frequented so often that I became very close with the employees I saw regularly and they became family. My piece of sunshine wasn't the racks of clothes, shelves of knick knacks, or low prices (now significantly increased), but rather Tia, a woman employed by Sunshine for almost as long as I had been going. She was warm and inviting and always had such a contagious smile. She would go out of her way for every single person she would come in contact with, customers and employees. She was such a highlight for us, and such a big part of our's and our son's life that I was completely shattered to learn that she is no longer employed by Sunshine Thrift Store. While my memories of Sunshine are filled with so much joy, it has all come to an end. I can't bring myself to walk through those doors and not immediately be greeted by that smiling face and my son running into her arms. I also can't imagine losing one of the best coworkers is much of a morale boost and I see the store going downhill from here. You have broken a lot more people than just my family, Sunshine. im pretty sure none of these employees have ever spoken to a human person before?? i asked if i could get help with some paintings and was ignored until i was sent in the direction of another employee who was fully walking to the break room?? idk he just vanished?? then i waited for a lil bit till i just decided fine and fully climbed a bookshelf to reach a painting, unfortunately the other painting I wanted was approximately 4 feet tall and much too high and not next to a bookshelf so i asked an employee to please help me grab the painting so I could give them my money and she looked so concerned and walked away and eventually came back told me that someone ELSE would be helping me no one came and i left my three other items on the floor and walked out please for the love of god either put the paintings lower or be ready to get them for the people who want to buy them? side note kinda pricey ngl read more

Great thrift store. The way goodwill and salvation army used to be. Weekly and monthly specials. There is something for everyone.

Prices are a little expensive for a thrift store, but they have a good book selection and some nice workout clothes.

Be sure to signup for their local text deals! And check back in with yelp to get $1/$5. Not much, but obviously everything is worth it if you have the time. Great selection and the service was nice considering I walked in 30 mins prior to closing and these poor ladies just wanted to go home. I don't blame them. Clean. Nice. Respectful.
