I would like to start by saying that I rarely post reviews, as you normally expect good service, but my experience was above and beyond and I had the urge to share my story. After 10 years of driving a 2008 Camry that would not die (sold it with 215K miles on it), I decided to upgrade to a new 2019 Rav4 Hybrid due to the amazing fuel economy coupled with AWD. Out of 5 dealerships, Sunshine Toyota had the best price for the trim I wanted and so I decided to lock in and purchase the car. I explained that I received an excellent offer from a buyer on my Camry that was too good to be true so and that I would be selling it in a week. Later that week I found out that Toyota issued a safety recall for the Rav4 (minor issue with the back-up-camera) and that I could not pick it up until it was resolved. Justin Etheridge was my sales consultant and offered a free loaner vehicle (2019 model) if my Camry sold before the Rav4 safety issue was resolved and said I could use it for as long as it took. Well...after the back up camera issue was resolved, Toyota issued another minor safety recall for the automatic braking and put another stop-sale on the Rav4 until it was repaired. Fast forward almost 2.5 months later (slight delay due to a credit fraud alert on my report from a stolen wallet incident in February) and I was finally at the dealership to pick up my car. The entire paperwork process was very streamlined and efficient, yet they explained all the steps. As I upgraded from an 11 year old car, another associate took me out to the vehicle to explain all of the safety features (lane assist, active braking, radar cruise control....etc). I was in and out of the dealership in less than 2 hrs driving home in my new Rav4!!!. During the entire paperwork process I had numerous people come up to me and genuinely apologize for the long wait I had in acquiring the Rav4, but I was just appreciative of the free loaner. Later that afternoon I was at the gym and saw a commercial for Sunshine Toyota stating they are #1 in customer service in the area, and normally I am skeptical of those, however, after going through the experience I did, I can honestly say that Sunshine Toyota (and the sales associate Justin Etheridge) is indeed the best dealership I have ever dealt with!!! read more

Poor customer service. Simple repair request. Replace drivers side mirror cover. No repair made. Why wait to tell me after I'm in my car that you had to order the part, dismiss my request, and then tell me to "Have a nice day!" Last time. There's no sunshine here. read more

The sales process and vehicles are great the service department is unreliable, unresponsive, and just not good. We ordered and purchased a Camry new in 2023 and for the warranty to be valid Toyota wanted the work done by the dealership, which wouldn't have been a problem if the service department was ok. Unfortunately after three years of terrible service we are no longer a Toyota family. We just sold our 2023 Camry so we would no longer be beholden to this unfortunate circumstance and poor customer service. read more

Received an airbag recall on my Toyota Camry so I chose Sunshine because it's close to my work & they offered a complimentary shuttle service. I asked to add on an oil change since I was due for one & they said it wouldn't be an issue. Both drivers for the shuttle service were lovely & timely on arrival & departures. When I came to pick up my car, I had papers & other items thrown on the floor of my passenger side. These items came from my middle compartment which I'm not sure why the service department would be in there. Were they not taught to leave someone's personal stuff as they found it? The driver side floor mat was also found in the back of my car. Completely disrespectful & unprofessional. I'm not happy with the service provided. read more

Let me start by saying Jesus was our salesman and he was hands down the best! He was helpful in aspect of my purchase. My family had an unfortunate medical event that put us in a financial hurt. I called and talked to Jesus and he had me come in and he talked to his manager and they bought the car back. I had spoken to the salesman (Laurie) a few times before I went to this dealership to confirm questions over and over, the same questions. I was told that the vehicle that I wanted to buy had a 3 month or 3000 mile warranty. I was told that the price was negotiable and I was also told that I would be able to have my mechanic look at it first before I would purchase it. So I made arrangements to go there, more than an hour away. So after the test drive and discussing the purchase agreement I was told that there was no warranty, really not negotiable and that I could not have my mechanic look at it. I really wanted this vehicle and still do but what are they hiding? She lied to me the whole time and every time that I spoke to her on the phone. I would not refer this company to anyone and if you do buy from them be very careful and be sure to try and have your own mechanic look it over. There is no way I am handing over $27,000. Without some kind of warranty or guarantee that it is in good shape with no hidden problems. Especially to people who has lied to me from the beginning and they can't even back up their own so called certified mechanics by giving at least a 30 or 60 day guarantee. These questions were very important to me because I didn't want to waste my time looking for a vehicle that wasn't warranted or negotiable or that I could at least have my mechanic look at it. read more

During my visit, the Service Department was not consistent in mask wearing. Most mechanics didn't wear masks when I saw them as I picked up my car. There was one who did have a mask on his chin, and covered his nose AFTER he left my car, but I wish he had it covered IN my car. Truly surprising behavior given the surge in cases and increase in death rates. However, the Sales Department really seemed to practice very good COVID19 hygiene. They consistently were masked and seemed to be socially distancing. I'd give them 4.5 stars. Still we are talking about a disease that can kill and/or harm so many loved ones. Can't give more than 1 star during this critical health crisis when the behavior of a few can harm many both physically and financially. read more

We bought a used car here a few years ago- the salesman was great and we were happy with the experience. The last time I took it here for service (oil change, fix a latch on trunk) it was the worst car dealership ever. So the lady who you check in with was extremely rude and then didn't know how to check the miles? She later came to me with latch in hand and said I had to go to the Honda dealership for this screw (it was literally a bolt that you could get anywhere we just needed help reaching another one of the pieces while car was elevated- which I described clearly beforehand) and they couldn't fix my latch on the trunk. They were so incredibly rude and unhelpful through this whole process. We no longer own that car and will not return in the future read more

After fixing the wiring harness on our rav4, We found an honest Toyota dealership who purchased our car for $13,600 and not $8500 like sunshine originally offered us and then retracted - and the new dealer sold it within a week. We ended up buying a Nissan Pathfinder Le !! No more Toyota's for us. read more

These folks are GREAT when it comes to their communication and customer service! I never felt pressured to buy, never felt uncomfortable, or never felt like I was being scammed. Justin was very honest and helpful in getting me the car I wanted for the price I had in mind. And although I have the option of dealing with Spartan Toyota, which I've visited and is closer to me, I think I'll be making the longer drive out to Battle Creek. I've been looking for a 2008-2012 Rav4 for the past month and finally found a 2010 on their lot. We worked with Krista who was very nice and helpful. They ended up doing a whole lot of work to my car for no extra charge (New tires, a new axle, new front and rear breaks, etc) which was really awesome. It took a little longer that we hoped but the outcome was def worth it. I drove it home yesteday and, so far, I'm loving my new car :) They seem very honest and open which is hard to find when car shopping. read more

This dealership is a GEM. Absolute 5-star service from the first phone call to the final signature. Zach Brown (my salesman) and Tim Born (the sales manager) were fantastic. I was looking on cars.com for a 2012 Jeep Liberty 4WD with low mileage in showroom (or close to it) condition and Sunshine Toyota had one -- a recent 1-owner trade in with 13k on it. I called on 2/3 and spoke with Zach Brown. He did a courtesy check of the vehicle and reported that it was in perfect shape inside and out. On 2/5, my father-in-law and I took a ride out to Battle Creek, MI (a 4-hour drive for us) to see the vehicle. We were not disappointed. It was exactly what I was looking for. A little bit of friendly price negotiation (who doesn't negotiate price at a dealership?) and a hand shake and Tim and I sealed the deal. Tim, an awesome Harley-loving dude with some great stories, handled everything from then on while Zach prepped the vehicle. 10 minutes in the finance manager's office (nice lady with a great personality) and I was on my way home with my new Jeep. Drove it back home to Akron, Ohio, and it was like driving a brand new vehicle. The radio came equipped with SiriusXM, so I was able to listen to Billy Joel the whole way home. (Billy has his own channel now -- channel 18 -- and I'm a huge fan.) The professionalism and honesty of the staff at this dealership cannot be overstated. They really go out of their way to make sure the customers are happy. They even have a lounge area with coffee, tea, drinks and snacks. I leased my car from this dealership in 2016. I received a letter today in the mail that Toyota wanted to buy my car back for top dollar, which they have to be a few times in the past. I called and asked for Steve, whom was not available, so I spoke with Tyler, who said Toyota would look at my car and make me an offer. I told him that my car was leased and he said that wouldn't matter. He asked me who sold me my car and I told him Jim. When I pulled up to the dealership Jim saw me and I went to his desk. He explained to me that with my car being leased there's nothing they could do. He told me I have a negative equity of $2600 because Prius' don't have a resale value. I only have 6 payments which equals out to $1800. I don't understand why I would have to pay more on it. My car is well maintained and has only 33,000 miles on it. They have done this to me multiple times and I'm sick of it. Metro Toyota is a way better dealership and I will be continuing to go there instead of here, even though it's a longer drive. read more

Service went quickly and well. That has always been my experience with Sunshine Toyota. That said, please put out real half-and-half with your coffee alongside the nondairy fake "creamer," which is made from materials that make me -- and others -- ill. I know others prefer the fake stuff, so perhaps offer a choice, as you do with the beverages. A petty thing, yes, but giving your customers access to top-notch amenities in the waiting room is all part of the picture. read more

I bought an extended service agreement. I was not told of the time expiration. Ended up costing me more money in the end. My vehicle was serviced elsewhere recently. My vehicle had the original air filter in it, 5 years later. I feel ripped off. I will never do business with this dealer again. I'll also add that about every 6 months I get contacted to trade my vehicle in and buy a new one by mail, by phone, at service visits, and by email. I have nicely asked numerous times to be left alone about it. They just keep it up. Again, I'm done with this dealer. read more

Zach Brown is not a motivated salesman! We went to sunshine Toyota looking at a used car it was very nice we test drove it and were very interested but it had a broken front bumper and high mileage we asked Zach what he could do and he said "you could fix the bumper for cheap looks like someone curbed it" and as for the price "if I beg him he might drop $100 off" he never really said much more so we left the next morning we are search cars online again and Boom the car is on there for a lower price and guess what they are fixing the bumper he never called and told us to say hey just so you guys know (we were very interested in that car)..so we message him asking why he didn't call he says "I couldn't find your number" we just gave it to him yesterday. We got over it we asked him for a price out the door it was a little high so we asked if he could lower it at all he said no possible way so we had to think about it the next day we messaged him asking for a different price he said "I can't do that I would have to beg to be able to get him to take $100 off" so to us that meant not happening we thought about it and messaged him with the price we could do which was a couple hundred off his and he never replied never came back with hey can u meet me in the middle nothing he just never messaged again... they are the ones that lost a sale over a few hundred $. I've never dealt with a salesman that was pushy, responsive, motivated, willing to do anything to get u in a car..all thing a good salesman is... Zach has non of these features he is a poor salesman. They took my Dodge Charger for a twenty mile joy ride to fix a broken blinker. When confronted about this issue I was told by the service manager that I was a lier. And I quote I don't have the f****** time to take your car for a joy ride. Then I proved it to him with a picture I took when I dropped it off. He took this opportunity to tell me to take my f****** car and leave. He then began to blame myself and girlfriend for there lack of communication from one department to another. There is no accountability at this place. They charged my girlfriend 140 for an oil change without asking. Ordered the wrong parts keeped the car for two days. Bye the time it was all said and done they finally fixed car. No apology for treatment very unpleasant visit I wil go to Kalamazoo from now on. read more

O.K., I've given this place a try a couple of times with dismal results. The first time I went there to buy a used car, but the salesman kept pulling random disappearing acts in between handing me literature trying to persuade me to buy a brand new Yaris. He never did "find" the car I was there to look at because it must have been "out for detailing." I finally gave up and left after 2 hours of total nonsense; don't be that patient with them ;) A couple of weeks ago, I went there to do a test drive on a Toyota Corolla, priced just a bit above blue book value. It was a total waste of time. The car had a horrible musty, mildew smell on the inside, even though they had supposedly changed the cabin air filter. I took the car to my mechanic anyway (already had it lined up with the test drive), and the car needed considerable exhaust work and had Bondo and spray paint job on one sections above one of the rear tires. The car was probably barely worth $2500, let alone what they were asking for it. Nothing special about this place, as always...buyer beware. read more
