SunWork did the HPWH for us. The project leader, Reuben, is very knowledgeable and professional. The whole process of converting the gas water heater to HP water heater was very smoothly. With their help of applying rebates the actual cost to us is very attractive. Since we have solar panel already, the HPWH uses less fossil fuel and also saves us a lot of money too. I'll highly recommend SunWork for your HPWH installation.

Finished product. Made sure everything is buttoned up right!

Out with the old, in with the new! Had a terrific experience working with SunWork to change out my water heater to a heat pump-based smart Rheem ProTerra. One employee/supervisor, one grateful prior customer, and me. Took all day. Tired but feel elated. It'll save 80% of our water heating costs, and also helps us be energy independent thanks to our solar panels. Reuben's attention to detail is fantastic. He's a fantastic teacher and supervisor as well and he ensured the volunteer's work and mine was done right. There are about $4000 in rebates in California right now if you put in one of these. I will be paying it forward volunteering with SunWork. Many thanks to the team!

After!

A real person called and left a message. I called back to explain what I was interested in and he scheduled an appointment for that day (I think). I was assured that I'd be called or texted when the technician was on his way. I expected to have to wait the full 2-hour window I was given, but no! I was called about 5 minutes before the window started to see if I was still available. The technician arrived exactly on time, right at the start of the window! After a short explanation of my needs he just said "OK, let's take a look at the space and talk about it." He explained every step of what they'd do to install a tankless water heater, he looked at the whole area to check for pipes, electrical access, spacing inside and out for a condensation line - making feel very comfortable that it would be planned before the installation to avoid last minute issues. A big plus, he told me he'd be part of the installation team. He also told me I should go ahead and get another few quotes. I think these guys are confident they're giving the prices in the sweet spot of costs. Then we spent time just talking about landscaping and plants! I'm not in a hurry to start this project, it's on my list of improvements and I'm just starting to investigate. However, I'm extremely impressed with the service given at this stage, the thorough approach in explaining, and the honestly. I will get another quote, but the next one has a high bar to cross; not only the service, but Water Heaters Masters quote was WELL below the only other quote I had gotten so far. I have a very good feeling about WHM. I'll come back to let you know more when I've finished the whole project.

Alex sent our technician, Rojo, who helped install a new 40-gallon gas water heater in our indoor utility closet, and he was incredibly diligent, professional, and efficient from start to finish. Installing a tank in an inside closet can be tricky, but Rojo handled the entire job seamlessly in just 2 hours. He replaced everything with high-quality components, including: * New hot and cold water flex lines * A brand new water shut-off valve * A new gas flex line and sediment trap * Fully reworked earthquake straps (to meet California safety codes) * Properly updated T&P line and venting He also took care of the removal and disposal of our heavy 18 yr old tank, leaving the utility closet completely clean. If you want fair pricing, expert specialized service, and a technician who respects your time and home, call Water Heater Masters and ask for Rojo. Highly recommended!

The Consultation Process Justin, their sales representative, was efficient and thorough. He patiently walked me through the entire process and was (more than others) knowledgeable about the SJCE rebate and loan options--even providing valuable information I hadn't found on my own. After the initial visit, the Irbis team was very responsive to my follow-up questions and accommodated my request to switch the quoted Rheem model to a GE Geospring model. I also appreciated that they offer an optional 3-year labor warranty to pair with the equipment warranty, which provided extra peace of mind for a reasonable fee. The Installation The installation day turned out to be quite tricky. It actually took three different tanks to get the job done; the first two arrived with small dents on the body. It was a bit strange, as the packaging seemed intact, suggesting a manufacturing or handling issue. While this delayed the process significantly--stretching the job into the late evening--I was incredibly impressed by how the team handled it. There was absolutely zero hesitation to replace the damaged units, and no one tried to convince me to just accept a dented tank. Despite the long day, the installers remained patient, professional, and pleasant. They did a neat, tidy job and thoroughly walked me through the operation of the new system. The only minor critique I have is that I wish the team had tested the incoming water pressure prior to starting the installation. Final Verdict Overall, I am highly satisfied with the level of service and quality of work from Irbis. They aren't the cheapest option on the block, but they have value added process to handle the permitting and SJCE paperwork completely, making it a hands-free experience for the homeowner. Most importantly, when unexpected issues arose, they responded effectively and with great integrity. I would recommend them for a stress free conversion

I wish I had written down the name of the operator who scheduled my appointment but she was polite, professional, and courteous. She went above and beyond to find an appointment that worked with my schedule. She called back as promised and I was never left hanging or waiting for information. 5 stars for the operator, thank you! My technician was Victor who arrived during the scheduled time window. He was very knowledgable about the HVAC systems used for the homes in my neighborhood. He was able to quickly confirm the issue, diagnose the problem, and find a solution. He then performed a series of tests to confirm the issue had been solved. During each step of the process he explained what was happening in a way that was easy to understand. I now have a much better idea of what my system is doing and how it operates. 5 stars for Victor and I'm grateful for his service.

Not only did they not listen to my needs, the whole time they offered solutions that cater to what they want instead of what I want. 1. They recommend dual zoning which cost about the same amount as installing a new mini split. I have a single state HVAC which isn't recommended for dual zone install. 2. They keep pushing for fixing/upgrading central instead of installing mini splits. 3. They keep asking for my budget (red flag), talking up high end units (red flag), talking down low end units (red flag). Look, we all know Mitsubishi and Daikin are the top of the line. However, the cost of DOUBLE of the price of lower end models isn't due to just superior quality and technology. Heat pumps and mini splits are not new technology. One isn't vastly superior to another. Yes, it may be better, but not double the price better. The cost are always due to the commissions and kickbacks for these installers. That's marketing and salesmanship, but please be more transparent next time. Finally, I asked for quotes and options so I can decide. The person walked away disappointed and I suspect they think they lost a sale because of the way I did not want the highest end models and stayed firm with my mini split request. I sensed the guy walked away disappointed. Yet I still expected a courtesy quote like the other installers. They never sent it. I was not surprised. In the end, I decided that a whole system upgrade to mini-splits (30% more efficient just from being ductless alone) with rebates made more sense instead of add ons to existing system. But these guys did help me cross them off the list and went with the installer who actually listened to my needs and gave the recommendation and options that I wanted. I do not recommend these guys. They will push for the highest cost system and will ghost you if you appear to be knowledgeable enough to call them out on it.
