Safe was locked and wouldn't open

We have had good luck with super 8 brand. They have really upped their game. This one was so so. The room was clean, except for the floor that was poorly patched. The area was fine. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was less than other super 8 we have stayed at, toast, cereal, sad looking apples. It was fine for our needs. Both guys at front desk, arriving and departing we're pretty unhappy. My big issue was that there were several people waiting to check in and I rushed through check in. This has happened before at super 8, the person at desk points to where you need to initial. I have automatic alerts on my phone for charges. A charge for 2.30 appeared. I went to desk, remembering my past mistake, asking if this charge was for safe. Guy said yeah and walked away. Shady! I checked safe and it was broken. Why charge shadily for something that doesn't even work.

    Cockroach

Place had cockroaches. They said they would refund us if we contacted Expedia. They then refused to refund the stay after we left the place. Included pictures of the cockroaches in our room.

First off the staff(office & cleaning) are all 5 star people. Friendly and very helpful. We had 4 nights of amazing sunset views from their 500 sq ft rooftop balcony(rooms 200 or 230 have direct access with chairs you can bring out to sit on) these rooms are clean and beds were comfortable. The breakfast is bare minimum(Coffee, milk, cereal, toast, granola bars and cookies) Those of you who travel using Wyndham hotels a lot like us just note you won't find the full breakfast or pre-packaged pastries & Cinnamon rolls here, but right next door is a country breakfast style restaurant called Home Style Cafe that is open at 6:30am and has great omelettes & biscuits n' gravy. This hotel is walking distance to the 5 mile walking/biking coast trail which is paved, great for strollers.

Paul the Manager was great! We found this on Booking.com. I've learned in all of our travels across the continental U.S. to wait before Booking and to do a preview at the hotel first. Originally we planned on Motel 6 for a cheap option, until we drove by and realized it was a hard no. The Super 8 looked nice. I had had an awful experience at Flagstaff Super 8 that scarred me and I wasn't planning to ever book again with Super 8. But Fort Bragg's Super 8 looked shiny and nice. I booked on Booking.com and walked in. The front desk was a gentleman who was Uber friendly and accommodating. He said they usually didn't take Chime the credit builder card I had used on booking but he immediately okayed the manager who quickly okayed my Chime card to be used for incidentals & $20 a night pet fee and made an exception. The room was clean and smelled nice. Easy check in and check out. All the staff were nice and accommodating and friendly to talk to. They said they redid this location 4 months ago. We spoke about how the town is also working on improvements as well. The bed was so comfortable my 8.5 year old son didn't want to get out. Plenty of areas with grass around Hotel to walk our Dalmatian which was a huge plus. They had a small continental breakfast with coffee in the am. A breakfast place called Homestyle Cafe walking distance just beyond Chevron parking lot. Ocean views all around. Would def O stay again! We wish we booked additional nights. But we had plans so we had to go. Cutest town and comfortable beds and nice people are always selling points! This location changed my mind about Super 8.. :)

We stayed in Room 123 on 10/11/2024 - $132.21/night. The desk clerk was welcoming. Nice room - comfortable bed and great pillows. Room had fridge, microwave and coffee. There was a strange pipe banging noise all night and the breakfast was prepackaged granola bars, pastries and biscotti, but juice and coffee also. The ice machine was in order. The shower was hot and tub drained well. The heater worked. Definitely one of the better Super 8s we've stayed at. Grade A.

    Shampoo & conditioner provided.

As far as budget motels go, this was one of the better ones. Very basic, but clean. The bathroom seemed to have been pained fairly recently. Amenities are provided (shampoo, etc). Pizza place right in front and gas station behind. My toilet didn't flush very well, however. After the first day, I came back from exploring and shopping and my key card didn't work. I went to the office and had a new one made, and the employee was a bit bored, it seemed. Eh, probably is a boring g job, all in all, so ‍. I like that it's so close to the restaurants in Noyo Harbor.

I give 5 stars for customer service & an appearing clean bed. But a solid 1/2 star worthy motel. I usually book the hotels, this time my husband booked & this was what we got. While I was a little scared at first given super 8 reviews it wasn't as bad as I expected. Would I stay again? No, but we did end up making it through the weekend Pros: -close to everything -good customer service, very friendly & accommodating 5 stars for the front desk -low price -close to the wharf & downtown (not walkable) Cons: -first room had an overwhelming bleach smell & mold. Asked to switch- was moved with no hassle. -second room, appeared clean. Smelled a bit old. -peeling bathtub lining -peeling paint on doors looks kinda like a jail cell door -flooring was coming up -grab and go breakfast was Costco snacks like granola bars & pop tarts I feel like it would almost be better to not advertise "breakfast" -small parking lot(but no extra charge for parking) -very very small room (single queen) -we weren't able to confirm but possible mouse droppings on the floor in the bathroom -travel shampoo & conditioner was really bad -no great view, view of mountain mikes pizza

    Mold on ceiling

Front desk staff get 5 stars, the facility itself and cleaning staff 1 star. Let's start off with they change the sheets every 3 days, WTF?! Didn't know this until the second day. My daughter got in bed and was like is there sand under the sheets. I said maybe it was from her even though she had just gotten showered and was going to bed. I didn't realize the sheets hadn't been changed until the next day when I saw the sign on the mirror, which is small in the corner of the mirror. You have to squint to read it. So who knows what day we were on and what might have happened in the sheets prior. DISGUSTING! The beds were also not comfortable, they need to replaced immediately. We had 2 adults and 2 children and 3 towels. Now the towels are the cheapest towels in the world and are toddler sized. They don't fit around an adult. I asked the cleaning lady for more towels and she said we had to exchange towels- what?! She literally asked me to bring out my towels, counted them and gave me that number. When I asked for 1 extra (4 people, so we have to share?) she said but you only gave me 3 towels...um ok whatever. And last but not least, when we were packing to leave, we stayed multiple nights, my husband calls me into the bathroom to show me the black mold on the ceiling which we had not noticed until now unfortunately. My son and I have bad asthma, black mold is nothing to play with. Wyndham bought this property and put lipstick on a pig and for over $500 for two nights- what!

The location is amazing with incredible views of the ocean. Whether you get a hotel room with a view or not, you are steps away from the ocean. You can soak in the views, walk along the rugged coastline, or walk down to the beach. If you walk or ride a bike a little over a mile to Otsuchi Point (a little past Glass Beach) you will have panoramic views that are breathtaking near sunset. I loved the large jacuzzi tub, sitting out on our private balcony and watching the waves and sunset, and it was very convenient to walk our dog along the old railroad path, which is flat and paved. There is a decent size fridge in the room and a microwave, which is nice. I got a good nights rest. The only downside I would say is that there is no breakfast due to Covid. There is also some street noise since it's near the road. All in all, it's a great hotel due to the location, ocean views, jacuzzi tub in some of the rooms, private balconies in some of the rooms, and that it's pet friendly. We will definitely be back!

We thought it was a saw, sounded like someone was doing renovations above our room. No 'continental' breakfast, just coffee pods and tea bags. Agree with Doreen B - rooms are shabby. Don't expect daily room service as that must now be a thing of the past. Rates don't reflect the lack of services or condition of the property. Location is fine. Not far out of town. Does have access to the beach - with a walk through a field and then a hike down a cliff. So if your up for that? There is a paved walk/bike path that runs behind the property and is heavily used. Don't expect privacy on your little deck - if you are lucky to face the ocean. Parking is slim, but there is a public parking lot right next door that you could walk over from. The staff is great. They are well aware of the properties shortcomings. Would I come back here again - no.

But we were provided ear plugs and a box fan. Due to the excessive heat this year (and probably every year moving forward--thanks a lot consumerist culture and climate change), we were roasting the first night. No AC. (And I hope they never get it. More wasted energy.) Used the box fan the second night and it was perfect. During the day, opened the glass patio door and enjoyed the ocean breeze. We called ahead to see if there was a restaurant on sight. There isn't one, but they have a sister restaurant that is about 3 min away that if you get their coupon you get 20% off. It's only 3.5 stars on Yelp so we passed and ate on our way. We were running late so that was really our only option to get lunch on our way to work. On the phone they asked us our arrive time and according to the gps it said 1hr and 12 minutes. She said she'll try to have our room ready as people were just checking out now. We arrived at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, May 4th 2026. To our amazement our room was ready, we weren't expecting that as we were so early. It was a blessing as I had to get to work in the room, we can work remotely sometimes. They also upgraded us to a room with a view. And it's a remarkable view of the ward and harbor. You can hear the sea lions, I believe barking at each other and many species of bird singing. There is a balcony with chairs you can sit out on too. The room has its own thermostat which keeps the room toasty warm on low and it's quiet. I can't recall what kind of unit it is but it's in the blood bad it quietly pushes hot air out. The room has a kireg type machine with sorted coffee, large mini fridge and freezer, and microwave. There is a desk and lounge chair and big screen tv with multiple channels. The shower/tub and toilet is separate from the vanity. The light to the tub/ toilet are is on the outside and the fan is extremely loud, so loud that it will wake up your mates who are in a deep slumber, so that's a minus. They have a ground floor that requires no steps and has a ramp that goes around to additional rooms. Other than that there are a lot of steps and no elevator that we've seen. So if you don't do stairs pick the ground floor and walk in on the lobby side. The lobby has all day tea, coffee, hot chocolate complimentary. They also have snacks and drinks for purchase: rice a Toni, Mac n cheese, spaghetti o's chicken noodle soup, tuna/chicken and crackers, chips, jerky oatmeal, and cold cereal. As for drinks they have juice boxes, milk, Gatorade, matcha, ect. No alcohol that I could see. The wharf is a 15 min walk or 3 min drive and they have seafood restaurants there. Across the street is Homestyle cafe for breakfast and lunch and you're a few min from downtown. This is a great location.

Be forewarned, this hotel is definitely outdated, but it had everything we needed: it was fairly quiet, had a comfy bed, good water pressure, and was clean!
