I really enjoy the huevos rancheros burrito, substituting the bacon for beans because i love beans hehe. The protein burrito is v good also, with a good amount of beef and eggs. Please do not come for me! The location is A+! Right on a corner-ish and you cannot miss. There's free parking A+! Lots of options for everyone-plantbased, seafood eaters, meat eaters, and everything in between, they don't discriminate. However, the flavor is lacking and the price is too high. Yes, you get huge burritos but it's not even close to being authentic. I may be partial, being from San Diego. It's not terrible tasting or anything but there's not really a reason to justify how this place is superior to any other Taqueria in fact it's probably not as good as most in the area. Read a review in the NY Times this past weekend about how great this place is for breakfast burritos. So came in and got a carnitas super burrito. It was good, what was most impressive is probably the size. It's probably the biggest burrito i've ever had. Flavor wise it was good, but not amazing. Carnitas was quite flavorful which was nice. I'd say it's maybe a 3.5 stars, but went with 4 given it's not expensive and the size is huge. read more

I've eaten here a few times. I enjoy their Tortas and I get drinks there frequently. Their Tortas are ok but one issue I had was the California burrito. The guacamole and sour cream are kept refrigerated and that can make the it pretty quick. They also loaded it with everything but the carne asada. 3 bites in I unraveled the burrito and didn't find any. They made sure to fill it up with everything else though. I would give it a 2 but I enjoyed their food and drinks prior to this experience. Just be aware they may be cheap. read more

Ordered a burrito here by phone for takeout. My first impression was poor. The person whom I spoke with was rude and sounded irritated to even be working. He clearly did not care about taking my order, so I verified he had recorded the correct item - a combo burrito with marinated pork and added guacamole - twice, and even described what was in the burrito. Upon arrival I confirmed what I had ordered a third time and was rung up. I kindly reminded the man at the register to charge me for my drink and added guacamole, because he had neglected to. Arriving home, I discovered: 1) The order was incorrect, despite many detailed confirmations. When I went to pick it up they told me I ordered a regular burrito (so no sour cream or cheese) so I paid for it and left even though it was the wrong burrito. When I got home I decided to go back and re order the super burrito so I could actually get what I wanted. I have been coming here for years, and the combination of quality ingredients and huge serving sizes never disappoints. Pictured is one taco combo, where you get a beautifully crafted, gourmet Mexican meal on top of a fresh flour tortilla for $8. If I'm really hungry, I'll go for the super nachos, but probably need 2+ people to finish. If you're looking for an aphrodisiac, look no further. Me and my boyfriend LOVE sharing a regular chicken burrito with black beans then immediately after getting it ON. Cannot recommend highly enough, gotta go with the black beans okay, no other beans get you in the mood like they do. The service is quick and nonjudgmental (we eat there a lot and they don't judge us for it). The green salsa is the best no doubt. The food portions are great! Definitely try their aguas frescas--made fresh:) This is a plus! I have eaten their carne asada nachos--tasty and lots of meat on them! Their super burritos are huge and also worth it. I recently had their super quesadilla (grilled chicken). It was excellent! They pour a green sauce on it that takes it over the top! Breakfast burritos were huge and full of fresh ingredients for a reasonable price. They also had a fresh salsa bar and hot carrots which just added to the appeal of the place. A follow-up to my review from last weekend. After I was assured that my card would not be charged because they had not received my order, lo and behold my credit card was charged. I can only imagine how many college students with Mom and Dad's credit card have gone through the same thing except the parents weren't aware that the student didn't get their meal and therefore didn't question the charge. But somehow they messed up and gave me a chicken burrito. Also it's easy to catch on when you fill a "super" burrito with 80-90% rice literally. Super Cucas is definitely the place to go for breakfast burritos now in Isla Vista since The Cantina closed down. I really love how they put the right amount of potatoes in their breakfast burritos, it makes it delicious. I always go for the classic Cucas Burrito, or their California burrito which is pretty good too. The people working here are really nice.
