The food was excellent. It was very fresh. The service was very personal. No wait for a table.

Review Visit: July 28th, 2013 Super Gyros was Super Good! Our buddy was in town while on leave from the Navy and we agreed to get lunch at Super Gyros. We didn't spend much time inside as we spent more time after lunch talking in the parking lot about random stuff. What I can tell you is that Super Gyros has your typical layout of a McDonald's or Hardees/Carl Jrs. There is a counter with menus up and behind the cashier. They take your order, you get a number, you grab a seat and you either have the food brought out to you or you pick it up at the counter. I am a newbie when it comes to gyros, so I had a hard time deciphering the menu. I settled on a lamb gyro combo. I know soda and I know french fries, but this was my first gyro. We grabbed a table and caught up on times while we waited for our food. It didn't take long as there wasn't too many people ordering food. I actually never see more than 1-2 people ordering from here at a time, so I am surprised it is still in busy as of late 2020. But, it's good to see they are still open. Back on track. After 10 minutes, all three of us had our food out in front of us and I was staring at my gyro like a deer in headlights. I didn't know if I should roll it up like a burrito to eat or fold it in half like a taco. I think I did a half-hearted burrito roll that left more of it on the wax paper than in my mouth. I tell you what... for never having a gyro nor lamb before, this was fantastic. The gyro wrap itself was thicker than a tortilla shell but not impossibly too thick to enjoy. It complimented the meat and toppings well. It sparked a small love in me for gyros that I didn't know was there. Going back to these niche places is hard for me for whatever reason. I've been by this place a million times in the following years but never had I returned, either solo or with someone. Maybe someday I will get to experience it again and all the other places I've been that haven't gotten a second visit. read more

My dad had passed this place numerous times, so finally we decided to try it out. When we first went in, there was no one in sight. He rang a bell by the register and a guy on the phone came out. We placed our order and had a seat. Only one other person came in and ordered while we there. I ordered a chicken gyro and it was pretty tasty. My dad inhaled his gyro and fries. read more

I was a little hesitant about this restaurant when I seen the building. But we went in. The woman"s bathroom door needs some work it won't shut. The restaurant could use some updating. It's an old Wendy's building. We was the only customers at 11:30 a.m.. me and my husband both ordered the gryo meal. The food was very good. Which I was surprised. It is cooked to order so it came out hot. More people came in and there only seem to be one guy working so he got busy fast. read more

Want to give this a 3.5, but will round up due to the good food. Food/Price- Friend and I got the gyros and a side of fries. Fries were okay, but the gyros were excellent!! Great meat, nice flavor, and a ton of it to boot. Prices were good and well worth the money. Atmosphere- Came in for a quick bite and thought the place was a bit foreboding, but after the reviews thought I'd give it a try. It looks like it used to be an old Wendy's or something of the sort, so you can picture the type of interior. A downside was there was no AC, so instead there was a giant barn fan for the restaurant, which made it difficult to find a seat, without things blowing around. Service- Service was the downfall. Gentlemen working looked like he could have cared less about being there and would have just as happily been anywhere else. If you are looking for a good, quick gyro, this is definitely a spot to check out! read more

I was a little unsure of this place however I'm was really craving a Gyro and was leaving town and it was on the way. I went with my wife and kids. I was pretty pretty impressed in the cheeseburger my son got and he shared that it was pretty tasty. My Gyro wasn't the best I've ever had but I was pleasantly surprised. They give you plenty if meat and the bread was nice and soft. I just wish the meat had a little more flavor. The fries were really tasty! I'll be back! read more

Fantastic place when you aren't looking for classic "fast food". Been to the drive thru 3 times now and every time have been greeted by a different friendly employee. The food takes awhile but is really worth it because it's always put together fresh. The fries are perfect and my wife loves the fried chicken breast sandwich. I personally love their gyros and are very comparable to the top in the area. Tons of meat! Will be a regular and hope they grow the business to stay for a long time. read more

Actually 3 stars may be pushing it a bit but the staff was so nice they earned it. Had a gyro and it was OK, nothing special about it or the fries. Also had a Chicago dog, which was a bit overpriced and also tasted OK, but it did fill the hole. The place was empty and kind of cleanish but I would'nt eat a french fry if it fell on the bare table. I think they try hard to be good, they have a bit further to go though. read more

I personally love this place! I have had just about everything on the menu and its wonderfully tasteful. The employees are very nice and always seem to be happy to see me, either in the drive throw or dining in. Most of them already have my drink in hand and ready to take my order ;-). Gyros were good and Chicago dogs also. Friendly staff and decent prices. Food takes a little longer to get than some of the other gyros joints I've been too but made to order food is worth it. I've been several times and have not been displeased. Reminds me of the gyros joints in Chicago. If you want to stay away from typical fast food and support family business go there. read more

So I come in 15 minutes before close and I'm expecting bad service. However, the lady who served me was fantastic! I heard about this place and wanted to try it out, it's a great substitute for fast food! The gyro meal was great as well. I'm from delaware and there is a gyro cart at the university of delaware but it doesn't compare to these. I just wish it had a more modern atmosphere but what can you do in east Peoria. Beggars can't be choosers. I recommend this to anyone. read more

New Peoria location on N. Knoxville. Stopped by for the first time tonite. 7pm, Saturday. Ordered 2 Chicago dogs and fries. Sorry, but I'm a Chicago foodie, and there was nothing Chicago about this. Standard generic (tasteless) stale, cold bun. Dog was ok (maybe a 10 to 1 size) but way too small for that size bun. Toppings generic and in wrong proportion, left a bitter taste from too much celery salt. Expected fresh cut fries, instead frozen generic fries. I suspect from items I saw on the menu that everything is "freezer droppings" & "heat 'n eat", premade commercial/institutional grade products...nothing actually made on premises. So sad, since our original Mr G's has gone, that no one has stepped up and put out a true Chicago style product. If you're gonna be a gyro joint, be one...don't clutter your menu with food you don't actually know how to make. read more
