Bombay chicken
Ritwika B.

I am always looking for spots that offer good Hakka Chinese (Indian Chinese) food and I came across this place! The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. The quantity is amazing too. However, the only downside of this place is it's customer service which can be ignored if you're concerned only about the food. Their bombay chicken is my absolute favourite!

Chilli Paneer Dry and Veggie Fried Rice (Dinner Special) - $11.95

Out of all the Hakka places I've been too, I think I have to give these guys the trophy. They hit all my categories and I come out leaving super happy every time. Price Range(Not including tax and tip) : $8-$12 per dish. Which is on par with most Hakka places but I would say it has better bang for your buck because of their large portion sizes. Food Quality (Taste/Serving Size) - 5/5 I've had a variety of dishes here and whether its chicken, paneer, noodles or rice, everything is full of flavour, and cooked well. I never find their dishes too saucy or too dry. The portion sizes are the best of any hakka place I've been to, I've always had to bring food home because of how much you get. In their meat dishes, their protein to veggie ratio is always amazing, way better than any other hakka place. For the most part their dishes aren't super oily so you don't feel terrible after you finish eating. Atmosphere - 4/5 This place use to be a sushi place and they kept the design so it has a dated Japanese look but I like it because it looks classic yet comforting. The restaurant has a lot of seating so it works well for large groups, though booths will only fit small groups. I wouldn't recommend it for a first date haha but it is a great place to go with your long time partner. There is a big parking lot but there are a lot of restaurants in this plaza so depending on the time the parking lot can get crowded. Service - 3.5/5 For the most part their service is good but there are times where it was mediocre. Most of the staff is very nice, will come check on you regularly and the food gets to you really fast every-time. One weird thing was one of the owners/managers said I couldn't pay credit card for the special and it was only cash or debit which was weird to me. Other than that I would say the service has never deterred me from going and I've felt valued for the most part. Would I go again? Absolutely, no questions asked. This is my go-to Hakka Spot. Lash's Recommendations Chilli Chicken - If you're looking for something classic and spicy to satisfy your taste buds this is the dish for you. You can choose your preference between wet and dry, I like both. Sesame Chicken - I'd recommend this if you want something slightly sweet and very crispy. Mango Chicken - My favourite dish when I'm looking for something that is sweet, spicy and crispy. Chilli Paneer - If you're veggie, I'd recommend this dish as it has great flavour, spice and is guaranteed to have you full. This also has the wet/dry option, I prefer the wet option.

Was in the area and saw this restaurant. I like Hakka food and decided to go in. The host asked me to seat myself so I decided to take the booth. I was told that is for 2 people or more and asked me to choose a table. I didn't really quite understand as both the booth and table seated 4 people. I ordered Bombay chicken lunch with corn soup. The soup was thick. The Bombay chicken was less than mediocre and bit greasy. The portion was good but didn't taste good. Note: This restaurant is not run by Hakka Chinese. Nor are the chief Chinese. They spoke Mandarin all the time. They also change .25 cents extra if you pay by debit.

Wing Fried Rice with Beef

This is my go to place for Hakka food!!! I was introduced to Super Hakka about a year or so ago and have been in love with it ever since. It's a great place to go and eat when you have a couple of people with you because their serving sizes are so big and perfect for sharing!! Most of their dishes come with the option of being dry or with "gravy" (sauce) and spicy or non spicy which is perfect when you have that friend that doesn't like the heat. They are also a Halal and no pork restaurant. Tried three new dishes this time around, the sizzling chilli prawns, wing fried rice with beef and crispy ginger chicken and had the must have lollipop chicken (not pictured because we ate too fast) All three dishes were great!!! There were lots of prawns in the sizzling plate with just the perfect amount of zing that was made even better when mixed in with the rice. I liked the beef fried rice with wings on top but found the wings to be a little too oily, but very tender and juicy. I normally have the crispy ginger beef when I go to Super Hakka but decided to try the chicken this time around and I was not disappointed. It was perfectly crispy without being dry and chewy.

Beef ho fun - very inconsistent

I thought this was good until I ordered again on skip. My order can fully dripping spilt and my beef ho fun was swimming in gravy and completely different from the last time. Couldn't feed my family the dish waste of $12 or so. I asked for no peppers due to an allergy they put me in. Last time I ordered the same dish they only had green onion in it. I've eaten this dish form here and elsewhere never looked like this. Never order form here. No one cares about your order. Not happy.

@ Pharmacy and Lawrence.. this sushi bar turned hakka restaurant serves up tasty and volumous hakka dishes! . . . This hakka place is open til midnight. They serve up amazing hakka dishes like their crispy Ginger beef, the chilli chicken and paneer, their Bombay chicken, and my all time must get Everytime were there regardless of how many dishes I've ordered already, fish Pakora and Chicken Lollipop. . . Let me tell you, you get your money's worth here with the flavour alone, and of course the volume of food you get is far greater than other hakka places. I usually order the chicken lollipop cus it's just delicious and you can't get that in a lot of places. What makes this dish amazing is it's flavour with the spices all working together along with the crispiness with every bite. The sauce that goes with it is a fresh chilli aioli I would say, and it's amazing. I used to remember seeing the owner's son picking off the stems of fresh red and green chillies to put in their sauces. I mean talk about fresh ingredients. .I also order the Guyanese fried rice which has Crispy fried chicken leg on top. . . Since it used to be a sushi bar, they have private booths finished off with some curtains to provide you with some privacy while you savour the meals they put out. They also have a private area in case you wanted to have a catered section or just bring 16 people with you after a volleyball tournament at North Beach indoor beach volleyball just down the street. Regardless of how not so hungry you think you may be... One taste of the food will make you want more n more.

Curry chicken spring rolls. Delicious!
Mary R.

Absolutely loved this place!!! My boyfriend and I had dinner here for the first time last night. We ordered 2 curry chicken spring rolls, Bombay chicken, Guyanese chow mein (beef) which came crispy chicken on the side , crispy ginger beef, and house special fried rice. Everything was delicious but my favourite dish of the night was the Bombay chicken. It was way too much food for 2 people but we were happy to have leftovers. They give you pretty large portions so you definitely get what you pay. The prices are on point (not cheap but not expensive either). Don't expect much as far as service goes. It was like a drive by kind of service... they set the food down while walking to their next destination....didn't even miss a beat. I would definitely recommend this place for the food. Note: included pics of takeout menu because the prices are the same as the restaurant menu.

This place is TERRIBLE. Take a look at the picture, you can easily see the soup gone bad. We ordered take out and once we had just a little bit, we realized that the food had gone bad. Two of our family members had food poisoning after eating from here. Once we contacted them, they were extremely rude and unwilling to admit their mistake. The manager has horrible customer service skills. The entire time we tried explaining the problem, she was making up excuses, blaming us, and kept making comments in her language, which we of course did not understand. She refused to refund us the money and said we are "making it up" even though we have all the food untouched due to the terrible smell/taste and we were willing to bring all of it back. This was extremely disappointing because we are regular customers and she alluded to the fact that "no one else got sick or complained", implying that it was only us who ever made a complaint about their food. Since she was unwilling to even hear our side of the matter, we said we may have to contact Health Canada, in which her response was to "I don't care. Call them, we have health insurance anyway" with a laugh. Overall, we are extremely dissatisfied with the service. It was not a matter of not liking the flavour of the foods given to us but the fact that the food was rotten. Our concerns were only met with anger, hostility and shouting from the manager. We will certainly no longer give this place our business.

Chopfire - Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95)

I've been craving Szechuan-style whole grilled fish for the longest time, so I was really happy…read morewhen I stumbled across this spot while walking on Spadina. The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this. Overall, Mott 32 is absolutely the kind of place I'd come back to for a special dinner, celebration, or just one of those nights when you want the meal to feel a little more elevated than usual.

We settled for eating in the lounge which ended up being good because bartender, Aiki?, was excellent as our server. Really great. Ordered the following: King prawn Har gow: standard. Not worth the premium Mott charges. Miso black cod dumpling: not good. Wouldn't order again Shredded Peking Duck Spring Roll, Sliced Vegetable : Excellent. We loved this! Nice and crunchy. Delicious duck inside. Good vinegar dipping sauce. Good volume Hot & Sour Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings: Fantastic and unique. The dumplings don't really need dipping sauce since inside there is a hot and sour soup along with pork. These are unique and delicious. Fried Wagyu beef taro croquette : pretty good but really tasted like a Jamaican patty Cold noodle with shredded duck : very generous with meat. Honestly a lot more than any other restaurant that serves this. To be fair no one charges this much either so it should. Flavour could be stronger but certainly decent. Fresh Mango, Coconut, Glutinous Rice Roll: nice fresh dessert. Our favourite. Frozen xiao long bao with chocolate and nut: Tastes like a mochi. Not bad. Dragonball Zen - fun name. Delicious drink. Jasmine Dragon Ball Infused Tanqueray Gin / Peach Liquor Lime / Rose Water / Mint / Seltzer Over $200 for this meal before tip. It's premium an debatable if with it. Will be back but just occasionally.
