It was a nice surprise when I had a first few bites of the chicken burrito. They definitely didn't skimp on the meat. Although it was dark meat chicken (I prefer chicken breast), it was all nice, lean, and flavorful shredded chicken. No fat and no skin were thrown in the burrito! Thank you! And the flour tortilla, which I normally wouldn't eat, was soft with a nice chewy texture. Scored. I ended up having a few bites of that tortilla. I have been eating at this chain for years! You always get good food with large portions. The service is always great, whether you're eating in or getting it to go. The vibe is basic Mexican restaurant but is cool. I would have given 5 stars but my crunchy taco was falling apart when it made it to the table. Overall, just standard fare with nothing outstanding. 10 locations around SoCal, so a pretty successful chain by that measure -- the interior has Mexican charm, where you could be tricked into feeling like you stepped into Mexico. First time. Will not be returning. $80 lunch for 3 people, no problem. HOWEVER, one of the plastic grocery style carryout bags was overstuffed and badly packed with a 16 oz salsa, an 8 oz salsa, 6 bags of chips, and a large ALBONDIGAS SOUP. The soup is stored in a foam cup which is deformed due to the heat and covered with a plastic lid which is BROKEN. This mess of a package is then covered with plastic wrap. On the way back, most of the HOT liquid spilled out of the broken container. Thankfully they had the insight to double bag the soup so nothing leaked. HOWEVER, it was still extremely hot and uncomfortable to have burning liquid on my leg for 10 minutes. No lunch for me because my soup is FILLED WITH PLASTIC LID SHARDS. $16 soup in the trash. We live too far away to go get a replacement and complain so I'm lodging my complaint here. Just my opinion, but you owe me a free lunch (all $80 bucks worth) for the inconvenience, ruining what should have been a fun Sunday lunch, burning my leg and serving me plastic infested soup. How can you charge 2024 prices and serve stale chips and warm beer? Rice and beans were mediocre as were the tacos our table ordered. I tried the burrito wet style, which is basically like a burrito that got caught in the rain and forgot to bring an umbrella. But don't worry, the al pastor meat inside was still juicy and flavorful, so it was worth getting a little wet. I sat by the bar, which was a great decision because I could watch the bartenders putting order in the computer, while I ate my burrito. The chips and salsa used to be really good, but I guess they've fallen on hard times. Maybe they got a new salsa recipe that's a little too experimental, like they added ghost pepper or unicorn tears. Who knows? But it's still free, so I'm not complaining too much. We chose to sit outside bc it was actually warmer than inside on a chilly night. They must have had the a/c on inside. The waiter (Juan or Jose?) was friendly, but for some reason it took a long time before they took our order and delivered our food. When you come in they bring crisp tortillas and salsa. You break the tortillas to make chips. I loved the enchiladas, they were loaded with cheese. You also get a giant portion of rice and beans. My wet burrito was also delicious. Sometimes with food this good I wish I would have ordered a couple flour tortillas to wipe up all the remaining delicious sauce. The shredded beef tacos were a little on the dry side and there were pieces of pork that were not edible. Still pretty good but not 4 stars like my previous review. I have to be fair to Yelpers and be as objective and accurate as possible. This place is not that consistent in terms of quality hence the 3 stars. I have been to this location many times over the years for Lunch during the Work Week because the Service is always Friendly and the food is delicious. I am a big fan of Chips and Salsa so when I find a Restaurant that has good Salsa I'm a fan for Life. On this visit I decided to order my usual which is the two Chicken Enchilada plate with Rice and Beans. I also ordered a Skinny Margarita on the Rocks with salt. It didn't take very long for us to get our food even with the busy Lunchtime crowd. My food was very good and I really liked my Margarita also! The Server who helped us was really friendly and we had a nice Lunch. I went into this establishment just to ask about gluten free options as I have celiac disease and have been looking for Mexican food with gluten free options. This location went above and beyond to call their distributor and make sure how the tortillas were made and what was in the tamales. I was so in awe that they would do this. I understand it was slower at the time so they could but just for anyone else they have gluten free corn tortillas and their tamales had rice flour in it. I was super happy in hearing this and ordered the 3 combo platter with two chicken tamales and one sweet corn and due to gluten in the red sauce I got green sauce being it didn't have any gluten. I thought it was very delicious and would definitely order it again as well as the complimentary chips and salsa! Their salsa is amazing and compliments their chips very well. Came here yesterday with co-workers after a long day in the office. I have been here a few times before. It is not my favorite Mexican restaurant, but it's close to work. The chips and salsa are always good. My entree, which was a chicken enchilada plate, was smothered with cheese. I could not taste the chicken in my enchilada, because there was just way too much melted cheese on top. The restaurant is small and the bulky furniture made it feel cramped. There is outdoor seating. Parking can been tricky as there are lots of other restaurants and businesses in the strip mall. read more
