I paid very close attention to this and know it to be true watching them first hand. If you make an appointment for "female masseuse", the owner (too busy playing video games) acts like he didn't know and gives you a male masseuse. I keep trying this place but it's supposed to be a foot massage- I have yet to get one. They do a great job on your back if you want a deep tissue massage but if you are ready for pain- this is the place! As a person who's profession is to stand all day- a good foot massage is really what I want. Went last night, there was a "private room" session (just a curtain pulled around the massage chair) next to me and it was a man and a woman in there who were laughing and moaning the whole time. The TRUTH about this place. I am quoting exactly what was said to me Today: Sept. 20th 2015. Whats makes me credible? I've been here over 10+ times so clearly I don't hate the place. The one star is due to the service provided to me Today. And honestly, one of the workers there "Cece" is really well worth the visit due to her skill and care that her customer is happy and comfortable. She pays attention to detail and that widely sets her apart from the many other workers there. Heres what happened: Cece wasn't available at a time convenient for me so I went to a girl name "Susan." I was not happy with the massage so instead of the usual $10-12 tip I give Cece, I gave Susan a $5 tip. (Keep in mind I still offered a 25% tip even without enjoying the massage.) Yes, the pleasures of a massage is based on a personal preference but it was her lack of care that became evident through the entire hour. It was one of those massages where she was trying to fill the time of the hour of doing constant pleasureless movements after asking her politely if she could please apply more pressure. But, the problem is: After giving the tip, she closely follows me to the front and throws my tip in front of the guy who sits behinds the desk. He said, "You need to give her 8 dollars, at least." I told him that I did not enjoy the massage and that is why I tipped $5. For a while he tried to rudely persuade me in front of a full room of other customers waiting, to give her more tip. I asked him why I was not informed that the $20 massage required an $8 min. tip, and he said "Everyone pays a min. of $28 total." Out of no where, he then tried to blame me for not telling him ahead of time that I wanted harder pressure on my back- which was completely irrelevant to our tip coversation. It should not be a problem that I asked while she was giving the massage to apply more pressure- Isn't that why they ask during the massage? A Tip should Not be required. Begging and embarrassing a unsatisfied costumer to tip more speaks loudly on the Lack Of Ethics about their business. Tips come from the generosity of customers and though I understand it is a tiring job, its only fair to assume a tip will vary depending on the satisfaction the customer feels. CONS: - Majority of the workers are just trying to pass time during your hour massage - He repeatedly stated, "You pay $20 for the massage but you MUST pay AT LEAST a $8 tip" - So your $20 massage just turned to $28+ - They inform about all extra 'required' payments/tips after the massage is done. - The last thing you want after massage is a confrontation from the front desk in front of a full room - The man sitting behind the desk neglects any kind of understanding for his customers and becomes extremely pushy - He also stated, requesting a specific person also means you have to pay $8 min. tip - This business lacks work ethics ***** ^ He and Susan is the reason for the ONE STAR ^ ***** PROS: - Cece is wonderful at her job and is very personably as well. - $28 for an hour massage is still relatively cheap compared to going to a spa - if you call them they can usually take you within the next hour or so Word to the buisness: I understand that it is a tiring job but it is unfair to your customers to be mislead with your $20/hr advertisement when you clearly expect at least $28. Just got handed to me by the cutest little Asian lady ! :) I was so confused entering because I wasn't told much except to go meet my lady inside. In any case she started out massaging my shoulders as that's where I hold most of my stress. It hurt like hell but quite frantically I wasn't looking too much to relax rather than to get the knots out that I have been holding in my shoulders for last couple weeks. She giggled at me while I laid down and approached my feet (I guess I was suppose to take my socks off as they rinse them in warm water towards the beginning. I think the most relaxing part was the foot massage toward the end speaking of feet. I loved the hot stones (a tad on the hot side) but none the less I liked it particularly when used on my shoulders. The negative side is there is no curtain and so I felt a bit of lack of privacy. Finally, a little cup of hot tea at end and that was that. I gave her a 20 dollar tip. I think most people would agree on here these people deserve every cent. And now I've found my place for an end of day pick-me-up: Super Relax. Located in an unassuming strip mall in Chatsworth, Super Relax doesn't look like much from the outside (or to be perfectly frank...from the inside) but the charm is all in the people who work there. The people at the front desk are personable and friendly. My massage therapist was amazing (why didn't I get his name?!). He targeted the knots in my shoulders and continually checked in with me to make sure I was ok. He used hot stones and warm oil, which felt amazing and is unheard of for Chinese massage places. And he actually went over his 1 hour - who does that? Especially for $20? Overall I'm thrilled with this place. And regarding the tip, since that seems to be a big point for people, I personally tip $20. Yes it's 100% of the price, but if you think about it, the workers there are likely making just above minimum wage. For the level of work and skill they put into it, I think they should at least be paid $20-30/hour. So pay up, and please tip well. read more

For a while now I've had these killer knots in my back and shoulders due in part to many different things: * carrying 30+ lbs of gear nightly for work * the stress of recently moving * the stress of recently ending a long term relationship (or more truthfully that relationship crashing and burning and imploding in a very dramatic sense) * the stress associated with drama at work * working 50+ hours a week * my daily commute of the 118 to the 5 to the 170 to the 101 * the stress associated with going back to school * feeling sick * sleeping in uncomfortable places such as the cot room or my car when my schedule is too hectic * balancing new bills in an effort to keep myself on the right track moneywise Yep, I DESPERATELY needed a massage, and a really, really, REALLY long hug. Thankfully I know someone that gives good hugs, but well...asking them for a massage would probably be kind of weird, so that's where a random stranger comes in! I walked in at about 130 with no appointment, thankfully they weren't too busy and we're able to see me right away. I was taken to the back, and having never been to a chinese massage place before it was interesting to see (as other yelpers have mentioned) that the chairs/beds are really close to each other. However, as other yelpers have also mentioned the workers here at Super Relax really try to keep your privacy as best as they can. The worker who initially helped me wrapped a towel tightly around me and held it as I removed my tank top and lowered my bra straps. He also provided me with a killer shoulder massage as my feet soaked in the hot water bucket. I'm not sure if English was his best skill, but working out the kinks in my shoulders certainly was. The right amount of pressure was used, and he was able to adjust (harder actually) to really make it feel good. I won't lie, at times it hurt, but I consider it to be the good hurt of really getting pressure on the points that were hurting me, so it was a welcome pain as I felt all the tension slowly dissipating. When it came time to lay down a woman took over for the man, not sure if that was standard or if it was just his lunch break or something, but she laid me down on the bed, unhooked my bra while covering me with warm towels and also provided a very intense back/neck/shoulder massage. This too felt amazing and she gave the knot the size of Canada in my left shoulder some extra attention. After the knot was taken care of the relaxation part really began to sink in. I found myself drifting in and out of slumber for a period of time, and I'm shocked there wasn't some drool on the floor underneath me. The hot stone portion of the massage was really amazing, probably my favorite part. As the stones were rubbed all over my back I honestly did not want it to stop. Shortly after this portion of the massage I was asked to turn over and given a fantastic head massage (ugh, I miss those, being single sucks sometimes!) as well as a lot more attention was paid to my arms, legs, and feet. The massage lasted the full hour, and was worth every penny (if not more!) of the $19.99 price (plus the tip of $14, which I considered to be fair). At the end I was offered a small cup of water, and the lady diligently protected my dignity with the towel as she helped redo my bra and helped me into my tank top. The atmosphere was relaxing with a cool dark room that was mostly quiet (the occasional ringing phone, or whispering from the workers did happen, but it was not distracting). The only thing about this place is the price, but you do get what you pay for! It was my first time here and I was excited to try it out since i've heard a lot of good things about this place. I went in on a Sunday and they were quite busy. When i finally went to the back I saw that they had beds in the middle in front of everyone, and the workers just cover you with a towel for you to take off your shirt, pants, etc. The massage was great, no complaints there. But after i got home i felt so dirty, since the place is NOT clean and they are reusing the same blankets and towels to cover people. I was introduced to Super Relax by a friend when he found out I had major back problems due to stress. He described it as "not your typical massage", but it would be well worth my $20.00. I didn't expect too much as he explained that we would be in a dimmed room with other clients(So do not expect a spa experience). As weird as I thought it was, everyone looked really relaxed. I went late at night, so the calmness of the room while the serene music played made me feel at ease. The experience was quite interesting. They start by dipping your feet in water and start massaging you from your feet and up. I never use to enjoy hard massages, but honestly it was AMAZING...my body felt great the next day and the pain was gone. My father complained of body aches, so I took him a few weeks later and he said he felt like new(He is VERY hard to impress). I didn't get the name of our therapists, but they were both female. The man said 2pm so I got there around 2:02 and told the guy on the desk my name. I waited for about 15 minutes and wondered why they haven't called me since I have an appointment. The man apologized and said he accidentally gave my spot to a different "maria" but I could get a massage now if I wanted a man to massage me but if I wanted a woman, I have to wait for another 20 minutes. I realized this changed when one massage I got was really any hing but great. I could tell the entire time the person was just wanting to be done with the massage and rushing through it. So I tipped $5 on a $30 massage (1.5 hours) because I didn't feel that it was up to par. And the owner/ front desk guy looked at me and said I was to tip $10.... 0_0 what..... thought tip was to reward for a good job.... why not include it in the price and then give it to the workers? I surprised my mom with a massage for Mother's Day and she really enjoyed. It claims to be a "foot massage" which she was hoping for. I suppose they can focus and spend a little extra time on your feet (more than 10 seconds, I could say at least 20 minutes) but I was in heaven with the back rub. Found this little gem a few years ago. It used to be $20/hr from when i first began to now $25/hour which is totally fine because you get a full hour body massage! The place is not super fancy but massages are great! It is a communal room with about 15 beds in it If you want a "private" session, they will pull a curtain around the bed and it is $10 more. I suggest for ladies to wear loose pants and a spaghetti strap shirt...makes it easier for the massage. So it starts off with you sitting on an ottoman with your feet soaking in hot water while they prep your bed. They will pull your straps down and tie a blanket around you to ensure coverage. They then massage your neck and upper back while you are sitting. Once that is done they lay you down face down and massage your entire back, arms, neck, head. They use hot stones for about a minute or two to massage your back. For ladies, they will pull your shirt down if wearing a spaghetti strap and unhook your bra. they will cover your with a blanket when appropriate. Then they flip you over, massage your feet, legs, arms, face and head. It is really relaxing. Once done they give you a cup of water and you are on your way. Went today for a massage. I havent been here for at least 3 years. It has changed for the better! My experience was AWESOME!! For $20.00, I got an hour massage. This isnt your ordinary chinese foot massage place....They have actual small comfy tables, not chairs. It is quiet, peaceful, serene music and the masseuses dont chit chat while working on you. Lyn is amazing! I wore a tank top (gotta love Dec in Cali) and some sweats. She actually had me take it off discretely, while covering me and massaged my whole upper and lower back( they usually massage you over your clothes), this was much better!! I went Monday at 11 and the phone could not stop ringing with appointments (a sign a place is good), and there were maybe 6 customers at this little place. I don't think I would get a full body massage again though. I don't really enjoy the pain! Would prefer just to get a back massage from somewhere else. I've been here twice now and think I have enough information for a review. On the surface this place seems to be merely a foot massage place but, wait, theres more! For the low, low price of $20 you receive a full body massage including a nice soak in something mineral-y for your tootsies. Let me tell you, they do a fantastic job. I don't get knots particularly, I just enjoy the feeling of a massage and the stress relief. I can tell you that I am absolute jello after this. Now I've been here twice and amazingly had the same masseuse both times but I judging by how full the place always is and the amount of near comatose patrons, I'm guessing they all do a great job. No pain no gain... That saying is so appropriate in this case. I was in a whole lotta pain, but the good kind. You know what I mean? Get your mind out of the gutter! jk Anyway, pain was dished out but I gained a lot of relief from some seriously sore muscles and feet. I'm not hugely keen on guys touching me, but this dude seriously did some magic. I'm sure by the end of the session I was probably bruised all over from the deep kneading throughout my back. But the biggest surprise was just how good my feet felt afterwards. I've always suffered pain from my flatter than flat feet, but it's been a few weeks since my visit and my feet are still feeling the effects. The place is very unassuming since it's located in a strip mall. The windows are tinted/blacked out so as to add to the calm inside. They have the traditional instrumental string oriental music playing ever so softly inside to lull the clients to sleep. They have a nice little waiting area where you can prepare for the glorious pain that you're paying to receive. Behind the curtains is a barracks-like setting of massage beds and tables. I was a little taken aback at first since I felt there wasn't much privacy but I soon forgot all that once my session began. There are a couple of sections specifically curtained off for added privacy for what I assume is a more intensive session (get you minds out of the gutter, it's not that kind of place). When your session is complete, they give you a little cup of tea to help restore and hydrate you. And you get all this for $20! They do take walk-ins, but I suggest making an appointment, as there's nothing more disappointing than mentally getting prepared for the pain, only to be turned away. I would have given this place 5 stars except for the fact that the people there don't really seem to speak as much as grunt and point. Super Relax=super unorganized and super unreliable. I caaled in around 2:30pm to book an appointment for my friend and I. 2 people, 90 min 8:30pm. Ok we are all set,see you at 8:30pm. So we arrived at 8:30 to be told that we have no appointment. I showed my telephone call log to the man behind the desk as evidence that i had called. He apologized but there was nothing available at 8:30. Im always hesitant to give a 1 star but unfortunately this is not an isolated incident. $20 for an hour's worth of massage? What are you waiting for? It can get a little crowded because you are literally inches away from other patrons, but not that big of a deal for me. I usually plop down and let them have at it. It's amazing how good you feel afterwards. For great quality massages for the cheapest prices I've ever seen, this place can't be beat. My husband and I tried ths place based on Yelp reviews. We were not dissapointed. They literaly massage you from head to toe. The only negative was that the receptionist which I think was likely the owner or manager was talking on the phone most of the time. It was highly distracting. Overall still a good experience and a four star on our first visit. The second visit was just average so I'm lowering their rating. They have gotten more customers since our last visit. My shoulders and back are made up of 2 major muscle groups: Rocks and Rocks. It's rare that anyone can get in there and actually make a difference (and those sissys at the fancy smancy spots don't do me a bit of good). You leave your regular clothes on, but it doesn't matter, because they know what they are doing. There is stretching, massaging, elbow digging, and my masseuse had a great understanding of pressure points in my scalp, legs, shoulders, upper and lower back... can't say enough how much I love how I feel after. I went on my lunch break, furrowed brown, slight hunch from the pain in my shoulders and I left glowing, smiling, taller... Go and ask for Michelle. She will work you well. read more
