We really wanted to enjoy this place but it just didn't work out. I got the fish tacos (fried tilapia) and they were (just) ok taste wise but visually unappealing and ultimately nothing special. Wife got the crab cakes and she mostly enjoyed them, but felt they lacked crispiness. The part that was a real churner was the shrimp tostada where some of the shrimp weren't cleaned, and I found that out by taste... Definitely unpleasant. My sister's and I went for lunch on Thursday. The restaurant has a good environment, with plenty of space to sit and relax even after we finished our food. We ordered at the counter and we went early, so no line. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We ordered: Shrimp Cocktail, Seafood combo platter with Catfish, Shrimp and Fries, Coconut Shrimp, Shrimp Po boy, Cheeseburger Basket and an order of Hush Puppies. Every thing was really good. All of the food was fresh and piping hot. Even the cheeseburger was good and it is a seafood restaurant. Seafood had a cornmeal batter and fries were nicely seasoned. The shrimp cocktail was delicious, served Mexican style in a huge goblet filled with sauce and pico, topped with a fresh avocado. I brought home the leftovers and they were still good a few hours later. The staff was so kind even when my sister spilled her margarita. I was asking the staff what the delectable dipping sauce was that came with the coconut shrimp, so I could replicate it at home and she was nice enough just to show me what it was. At 4pm I placed order over phone for pick up. Ordered catfish basket and broiled shrimp with hot sauce and cocktail sauce. When I arrived for pickup no one was up front to great nor direct. I approached two line cooks and requested my order. I inquired if I could get cocktail and hot sauce and the gentleman stated "it's in the bag" which is tied down and he actually poked the bag acknowledging the location. When I arrived home nothing was in the bag but ketchup. I called them just to inform and a girl answered and responded we don't give out that stuff it's your responsibility to pack it yourself would you like a mgr. So I decided to come here after attempting to go to another fish spot but because of COVID dining room was closed and you had to wait outside. I was pleasantly surprised that this spot has some decent fried catfish. So the coconut shrimp I got were greasy so I would pass on those. I went back last week for my daughters birthday and she and my mom enjoyed the seafood boil they shared with crab legs, shrimp, sausage corn and potatoes. I have a 9 year old with fish allergy, she was able to eat a burger and my 7 year old picky eater ate all of her fish and fries. Don't let a pretty plate fool you. I was so disappointed. I was really hoping this place was going to be good. The past reviews I read are not horrible but many of them mention the food lacked flavor. I wholeheartedly agree. I took a bite out of each of my items and did not finish the meal. It was that bad. The best thing on my plate was the vegetables but only OK after I added salt. I had the shrimp taco, catfish taco and tilapia taco. vegetables that were supposed to be roasted but seamed steamed. Even the batter on the onion rings lacked flavor. The tilapia was terrible. We happen to luck out and arrived in time for happy hour specials. Pitcher of margaritas $14.99, 10pc buffalo wings $8.99 and 2pc catfish fillets w/fries $7.99....had to get the shrimp cocktail as well which was $7.99. I have to say I wasn't disappointed with any of, the fish was fried just how I like it, I can't stand when my fish is soft and this had the perfect crisp to it, the wings were big and flavorful and the shrimp cocktail was loaded with shrimp and I like that you get a choice in the spice level that you want. This past Sunday I spent the afternoon here and had a great experience.. my food blogger friend invited me to come and hang out with her here for a media tasting and we had a blast! We ordered a ton of food (took most of it home) and enjoyed their mango margaritas.. I ordered their shrimp tostadas, cup of gumbo and their fried oyster po boy. The shrimp tostada was so fresh and tasty.. same thing goes for the gumbo and po boy. My friend ordered their raw oysters, aguachiles and seafood pasta. While Super Shack still shows the symptoms of a new restaurant, you should give it a try and see what you think. The following is more constructive criticism for the owners/operators. We (my wife and I) ate at Super Shack around 5:30 today (Saturday). The place was busy, but not too busy. We ordered the Blackened Salmon and the catfish tacos as our main course. I ordered the "small" gumbo for an appetizer, with shrimp for an extra dollar. My wife ordered the ceviche tostada for her appetizer. I ordered the margaritas, rocks, no sugar, no salt. My wife ordered a draft beer. We sat in a booth that was quite tight. Neither of us are large people, but it was still tight. We were given our drinks at the counter, but no water. Her beer was good as expected. My margarita was terrible, even with the "top off" that our host/cashier added. It looked quite clear, and tasted like alcoholic water with a splash of lime. My chicken and sausage gumbo arrived first. It was thicker than I prefer, but it was quite good. Perhaps a little salty, but I prefer salty to bland. The added shrimp were bland, but compensated by the gumbo. Next, my wife's tacos arrived, not the ceviche appetizer. The tacos had rice and what appeared to be a red-sauced coleslaw. It was spicier than she expected, but good. Good enough to put in the tacos. Finally her ceviche arrived along with my my blackened salmon. My salmon, at first, seemed dry, but that was only the edge. The middle was a bit overcooked, but still moist. I would suggest more salt in the blackening mix, but was pleased it was more like Paul Prudhomme's, or Emerils, than the black blackening that many restaurants use. Just needed salt. The vegetables and rice that accompanied the salmon were bland. The ceviche was bland as well. I added lime and salt to make it better. The ceviche dish is listed as a ceviche tostada, but it is really ceviche nachos. The ceviche is served on a bed of tortilla chips. Technically there is a tostada at the bottom. So, while I agree that some of the dishes need more seasoning, as another has posted, the experience was okay. We'll be back, but likely not soon. We were really hoping for a great local fish restaurant. Super Shack has potential. read more

I've found my seafood love. We happened on this establishment a few weeks ago on a whim. My significant other loves shrimp cocktail and he said it was the best.... I had fried catfish platters both times (because they were that good), with fried oysters once and fried shrimp once. They were perfectly fried and tasted wonderful. Crispy, with cornmeal batter, and not oily. I even love the tartar sauce. Most places serve a pickle-based sauce, but Super Shack uses horse radish in their sauce. I had never had it before, but I love it. My wife had a 1/2 pound of crab legs in garlic butter both times (again, because they were that good). She is a seafood expert and is very picky. They also have the option of spicey Cajun flavoring. She said the crab and vegetables were perfectly cooked. New place that I wanted to check out! I'm not a fan of Fuzzy Tacos so when Super Shack took over the space I thought I'd give them a try... I LOVE seafood! I've been back twice since then. I'm a huge fan of their salmon salad and the portions are on point for the price! Great place to go for lunch, quick and easy ordering and it doesn't take long to get your food!
