This weekend I needed a clean up trim and I found out she is now at the Main St location and she wasn't working this weekend like I needed so I decided to try Leticia. Leticia is awesome too! I did the online check in got there before my check in time and before the hairdresser got there...yes there were people waiting who were walk ins...and in front of my face the hairdresser who I did not have the appointment with told the one I had the appointment with "that man has been waiting a long time, she has the appointment take him first." And she did without ever talking to me. What is the point of checking in online if you are not seen at that time or near the time? I've been on the other end as a walk-in and they have always taken the online check in person first. This is ridiculous and a big waste of my time. Worst hair cut I've ever gotten. I said multiple times that I really, really don't want a "blunt edge" and that's exactly when I went home with. At the stylist's recommendation I let her thin the ends instead of layering it and she told me that my ends were "thinner than what I came in with" which is absolutely not true. She did not blow dry the hair to check that I liked how it looked and she told me to "rinse my hair" when I got home because she left a ton of cut hair in my head instead of brushing it out at the salon. This was a gamble and I lost- big time since I will have to pay probably full price somewhere else to get this redone completely. read more

I really don't like leaving negative reviews but the more I think about the experience I had there the more disappointed I feel. I went there because they were in the immediate area I was in & all I wanted was to cut some super simple Bettie Page style bangs & just a small trim on the rest. The "stylist" that I got was a tall thin European lady with grayish/white hair. I show her a picture of what I want & she tells me that they have thick hair & I don't, I said it's ok , I've had them before so I know it'll be fine. Then she's asking me about the rest of my hair & telling me it's not even & she can't clean it up & was pulling up pieces of my hair to show me how uneven it was. I told her I was aware & I'm ok with it, I blow dry & straighten my hair a lot so yes there is breakage but I wasn't asking for her to do anything except the bangs & take an inch off the bottom. She continues to basically degrade my hair the entire time, pulling pieces out straight & telling me to look, then she says "so you color your hair black?" Well it certainly isn't blonde, she continues to tell me that everything I'm doing is bad for my hair & I need a heat protector. At this point I'm so uncomfortable & I just want to go, she finally finished & then takes a product off the wall to show me, it was $30 so I just said "thank you but that's more than I want to spend today" so she puts it back & then grabs another one & begins reading the back of it to me, I just said ok thank you & handed her a tip because I know she did still perform a service even though she made it a horrible experience for me I can't justify it to myself to not tip. I paid the entire $26 for the haircut also even though I don't think she put in enough actual work to call it a haircut, she cut my bangs & took 30 seconds to cut off a little off the end, the whole cutting process was less than 10 minutes... I have a regular stylist that I love but she's always booked in advance & this was a last minute idea & I went to the closest place near me at the time. Needless to say I won't be back. The whole thing was so awkward & I can't believe she really had the audacity to make me feel bad about my hair when hers wasn't great, hers looked like she hadn't brushed or washed it in days so she really had no room & anyway I knew what I wanted & asked for it directly, like I said the more I think about it the more sad I get, I wish I hadn't tipped her because I don't want her thinking she can treat people this way & expect return clients. I've been getting my hair cut for years from this store. I normally get a great cut here. Staff is very friendly too. However, during this visit it seems as though there's a new guy though. Christian seems inexperienced and nervous. He cut my bangs unevenly and blended it in front to frame my face but that was also uneven. He did not employ the typical techniques to ensure straightness and evenness that I have seen all other stylists use. I had to keep telling him what to do. Then he flipped the apron/cape so hard that hair got everywhere in and on my clothes and face. To top it all off, I had to fix my cut myself when I got home. Be aware! I used to take my daughter to get her bangs cut at the Solana Beach Supercuts all the time. I've never had a problem & so didn't think anything of coming to this location even though we'd never been before. Giant mistake. First of all the receptionist/manager/stylist in charge was way rude. My daughter, a woman waiting and I had to exchange looks every time she barked out at someone coming into the salon. The woman doing the actual haircutting for us was pretty good. She was quiet, but friendly. She did a fair job when all was said & done. Though when we went to pay & I pulled out our Supercuts stamp card, she quickly shuffled away to get the mean lady back, who without even being prompted got really testy about how they didn't accept those anymore. I said, "Okay, that must me new since last time. Is this now at all Supercuts?" (only asking so I could ditch the card if that's the case), but was so angry in the tone of her response, that I had to assume this was not about me or my card. They are not affiliated with other Supercuts who are still doing those cards, I guess (so said another man waiting for his haircut). Anyway, sufficient to say that I won't be returning to that location ever again. I went here for the first time today. I was fed up with having to pay upwards of $60 for a flippin hair cut. With the economy the way it is and all...I just want to get a decent hair cut for not a lot of money. My sister-in-law goes to this type of place and her hair looks good, so I figured I'd give it a try. Plus, I found a coupon on their website! I called earlier in the week and they stated that they do not take appointments, so you just walk in. I went in on a Friday morning, around 11am. I was the only customer in there, but I figured it was because it was a weekday morning. I was sat down with Maria, who was going to be cutting my hair. Her California Cosmotolegy License was displayed...but oddly the expiration date was cut off. That made me a little nervous, but I figured, what the heck. Maria asked me what I'd like and I asked her to trim about an inch off and re-layer it. She cut, and cut and cut....and I started getting nervous again. The haircut probably could have been over within the first 7 minutes, but I think she felt like she needed to take a little longer to make it worth my while. In the end, she probably ended up cutting off about 2 - 2 1/2 inches, but luckily I didn't mind. So if you specify how much to cut off and they keep cutting, you might want to speak up. Nevertheless, I only ended up paying $14 after using my coupon and then gave her a tip in cash. For $14-$16 for a hair cut, you almost can't beat it! If you're looking for an ultra-professional hair stylist though, obviously you won't find them at Super Cuts. read more
