I Just got it done again today did Balayage with some Caramel tones and am so stoked and happy with it!! I was banned from all Young American Salon locations earlier this year. I had been polite, paid for my services, and had positive experiences with my stylist Rachel Lopez then suddenly received an email from the owner, Julia, saying I'm no longer allowed. When I asked why, I was told "I made people uncomfortable," which is absurd and insulting. No one at this salon ever communicated any problem to me. Instead, they quietly decided to blacklist a respectful customer without explanation. It's the most unprofessional behavior I've ever encountered from a business that claims to care about its clients. Unprofessional and dismissive. I was banned without warning or reason. They just want your money at the end of the day I would advise anyone considering this place to look elsewhere. If you value respect don't set foot in this place. Trust me. Side note: I've seen Rachel Lopez and, once, Zyana O'Brien at the Old Town location, and Rachel Delaney at the Southern Local location. I didn't have a good experience at the Villa Park location. It took me time to find Rachel Lopez, who I trusted and felt comfortable with. Then the business began spreading false claims about me truly an evil and dishonest company. I'm sharing this so future customers and current clients know exactly what kind of business this is. Be careful the same thing can happen to you. read more

I've been going with Karla since 2021, after my previous hair stylist left the state at the start of COVID, I was on the search for a new stylist, and found Karla via her Instagram. Karla was very friendly and responsive. Since the first time I've met her, she has always been very communicative, sweet, understanding, and professional. Karla was able to take the inspiration that I got from her pictures on Instagram, and within 2-3 sessions I got balayage I was dreaming of! Her work is very high quality, and she is very helpful when I ask her for recommendations on hair products and tips. The salon is also well kept, clean, and has a warm vibe. Karla always makes sure you're comfortable during your appointments, since at times balayage appointments can take more than 2 hours. I'll lead saying this is a great salon - I'm super inconsistent with my appointments and normally end up just picking whoever has availability on the calendar that works for me. Never a bad cut or color. I will say my most recent visit was pretty disappointing. The stylist double booked their schedule. So while I was processing, they were doing another client. The problem is my hair takes color really quick and i don't really require much time, especially in this instance which was a mini highlight. Now I can't fault the stylist -they had never had me as a client and maybe they thought it would be longer... but it didn't and they were kind of rushed to juggle the two of us. Additionally I was paying full price for my service but it felt like I was interrupting the other client. I know this is a thing some stylists do, I think the salon should just let clients know in these scenarios read more

Consider the repercussion of getting a haircut by Alex Martin Hair Design at The Young American. It is clearly evident in the photographs of the back of my head, and consented haircut versus the imposed haircut. In the appointment confirmation email (see photo), the message I've included confirms that I would like a shoulder skimming lob (long bob). I showed her pictures of the haircut I'd like, informed her to keep haircut shoulder length with layers. Her reply was "I got you." Multiple times I'd ask her to not cut it short and on the last time, she became enraged and began aggressively cutting the hair on the back of my head in a fury with thinning shears. I was in a state of shock and appalled by this behavior. I told her she cut my hair too short and this is not the haircut I asked for. She didn't apologize nor show remorse for her actions. She replied curtly, "you'll get used to it". Be aware, and do care to share this incident to loved ones, in dis-regards to hair. For no one deserves to be disrespected and maltreated in "a place for all". The only good transpired from this appointment is the hair donation I'm giving to Wigs for Kids. An inquiry in what actions would take place to make certain mistreatment and/or abuse by any stylist conducting their services at The Young American would not occur to anyone has been sent to management. Looking forward to managements' and the Business Owner Forrest's response in handling this grievance. read more
