From the moment I sat down, she was pleasant and listened carefully to what I wanted. She asked thoughtful questions to make sure she completely understood what I had in mind. Her eye for color and highlights is exceptional. She took the time to really look at my skin tone and natural hair color, and then chose the perfect blend of color and highlights to complement my complexion. You can tell she takes pride in her work and has a genuine artistic sense when it comes to selecting the right tones. She also surprised me and added a glaze conditioner during the rinse, which noticeably made my hair soft and silky for weeks afterward! I booked a trial hair appointment with Marc and sat in his chair, armed with a few pinterest ideas that I had tagged earlier on. Marc listened to my ideas and created a fantastic up-do that was everything I wanted. He perfected the style during a second trial and I knew I had to have him and his assistant Courtney for my big day!! They arrived bang on time with a plethora of hair gadgets and started working on my four bridesmaids, mother and mother in law. It was a fun filled Gaga infused morning that helped shape for the way for an unforgettable day. Everyone loved Marc & Courtney and they created fantastic hairstyles that showcased the individual styles of all the women. My normal salon…read morefor the last 5 years is in West Haven, and looking for a new/closer to home salon where I could also easily go for a bang trim while saving on gas money would be ideal. Based on reviews, I actually wanted Marc to cut my hair but he wasn't taking new clients, instead he set me up with Christine. I have long fine (yet full) wavy hair to my middle/lower back. I am very specific how I like my bangs cut, and always show pictures. I was also careful to explain how I didn't like too much cut, I always keep my hair long with a few very long layers for movement. The trim was fine, but the bangs weren't really how I wanted them, so I went back 2 weeks later for an adjustment. They weren't perfect but better. Fast forward 2 weeks ago, I go for another trim (an inch) the long layers dusted so I would have more volume and a bang trim/shape, again with a picture or 2 (of the Instagram influencer whose bangs I love). They looked ok yet again not what I asked for when I left. I went back AGAIN to have them adjusted again showing the same pictures. When I washed my hair 2 days later I realized what a horrible CHOP JOB Christine did-the sides are now completely uneven, worst of all not only my bangs but the side of my head by my EARS!!-those pieces were long (middle of my neck at least) and blended in from bangs on down when I walked in. NOW I HAVE TUFTS OF HAIR THAT STICK OUT ON THE SIDES AND THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX THIS FOR MONTHS UNTIL I GROW THEM OUT!!! Thanks Christine for the ridiculous side burns I now have wearing a baseball cap, or any hat Fall into Winter! Great look. A master stylist with "years of experience"?? I was really upset the last few days, now I'm livid. Thank heavens I hadn't make an appointment to have my color done like I enquired on my last hair appointment, I'd probably leave looking like a zebra. Its a shame, because while she is super nice, the salon is cozy & 10 minutes from my house, I am paying for a service, and its the service/cut that falls way short. My salon shut down completely due to COVID and this salon was well reviewed, plus they showcase many photos of beautiful long hair on their website, so I booked an appointment. The only availability I could find was with Suzanne. I came in with very long hair, past my waist. I was asked what I wanted to do, so I told Suzanne I wanted to cut a couple inches off and indicated where I wanted my hair to fall by placing my hand at the length I was interested in (middle of chest length). I was in the chair for maybe 4 minutes, she said she was going to do a dry cut and then we were going to go wash and come back to the chair to finish. She cut it slightly past my shoulders. Internally, I was freaking out. We went to wash, returned to the chair, and she started trimming. She asked how it was and I said, "we can't go back now, but it's way too short". At this point, she gave up doing any sort of layering to make the cut look more flattering, I think out of fear of doing more damage. I told her I wanted my bangs cut, and showed her an example photo of what I wanted my bangs to look like and how I wanted them to be above my glasses. She asked me if I curl my bangs when I dry them and I said I do not, and she proceeded to curl my bangs. I was on the brink of tears at this point and I regret not being more vocal in my appointment, but I couldn't sit there any longer and I said my bangs were fine after about 15 minutes of her trimming small amounts. I got up and paid, then went and cried in my car before leaving. I honestly just wanted to look pretty for the first time in a while and left feeling worse about myself and my decision to book this appointment with a hairdresser I did not know. I have no idea what other peoples' experiences have been with this particular hairdresser, but mine was terrible and I have no plans of returning to this salon. Some positives about the salon: the staff is very nice, the space is newly renovated with a modern and trendy style, and they are conveniently located in Devon right over the bridge from Stratford.
