My canvas was not lifted, it was still extremely red when the brown was deposited. I asked for the color to be removed properly. This is not minor irritation you can clearly see sores that were leaking pus. A matted scalp from dried up pus is not the result of "minor irritation". Chemical burns can be caused even without bleach (which I also don't know why bleach wasn't used). Burns can literally be caused by a chemical being left on too long or too strong of a developer. I have been looking into this thoroughly. Anyone can easily see pictures of chemical burns from improper technique look exactly like mine. Owning up to your mistakes goes a long way. It's so inappropriate that after all of this she is still defensive about her mistake. I also think it's really interesting that after this review all of a sudden she has multiple five star reviews. My pictures speak for themselves. I disputed the charge because spending top dollar on a service that caused injury (that can be susceptible to infection) is unacceptable.

My original hair was highlighted (super bleached/ashy) and had a bad layered cut (turns out I had a mullet I wasn't aware of lol). I wanted to return to my natural color and also get a cut to even out my layers. Within two hours, Hanh achieved the color and cut seamlessly through proper and detailed steps to repair my damaged hair. My experience with her was fantastic. I came in Tuesday and the girls were so nice. The girl that cut my hair was genuinely kind. I don't normally write reviews, but when I told Lizzy I would be having surgery and why I needed to cut my hair she was so helpful and inspiring. I was having a down day about it and she said we could make my day a little better with a super cut. I love the layers she added. By the time I left I was smiling and felt not so bad anymore. When I asked for her card she said she was just covering a shift and her location is to far for me in the future I am sad about that, but the other girl working was so nice (I didn't get her name.) and kept smiling at me so I will be coming back. I thought if I was going to do it I was going to pay top dollar because I love having long thick hair. From my experience of going with this company my hair still broke a lot. Of course bleach is going to do that. Any stylist would say that. I'm sad to say if it's going to break either way why pay $350 when you can pay $180 or $230 for the exact same breakage from somewhere else. I also want it known that I am (NOT) supposed to have bangs. It happened through this journey. My second complain one of the times I went in they gave me a shadow root touch up instead of a full bleach blonde. I didn't like spending that kind of money for something I didn't want. The hair stylist blamed me. She said I had to be putting something different in my hair because she couldn't get it blonde like before. They weren't kind about fixing what they did wrong. They also couldn't accommodate to my busy work schedule to get me in. I ended up having to pay for the little roots that came in two weeks later for them to fix it. That was a good $600 that month out of my pocket. I also want to say I didn't like the energy or vibe from both girls at the salon. Customer service is very important to me. When I work with a client I'm always trying to make conversation with them. I'm always smiling and laughing with them. Whenever I went I felt like I had to carry the conversation and it got to a point i would bring my headphones so I didn't have to bug them with my life stories. I don't want to drop names because I respect this is their income. Lastly, I don't apply heat to my hair. I use Aveda hair care product all the time. I added a picture below of everything I use to restore my hair. I don't know anything about salons or hair dye. I am not a professional at all. I would like to continue my hair journey elsewhere if my hair is going to look cut off in weird places. I don't have pictures of every time I went in but I did want to share the ones I found. We originally booked online, but the morning of the appointment we were notified that our stylist called out sick. We were rebooked with Liz for 11:15 AM, and we arrived at 11:05 AM--10 minutes early, which I felt was a reasonable amount of time to check in, settle in, and discuss the color my daughter wanted for the new school year. Instead, we were immediately scolded for arriving "too early." While we waited patiently as Liz finished with another client, we repeatedly overheard her commenting to someone else about how early we had arrived. I even questioned whether I had misunderstood our appointment time and politely asked another associate to verify it. She confirmed 11:15 AM. At 11:35, Liz finally came to get us and sarcastically said, "I can see you guys now, sorry I'm 3 minutes late," because she apparently believed our appointment was at 11:30. Even after I explained that I was certain the appointment was at 11:15 and had confirmation on my end, she insisted that I was wrong. The time was never the issue--the attitude and unnecessary defensiveness were. There was never an apology or acknowledgment of the confusion. Unfortunately, the service itself was also disappointing. We paid over $300 expecting the deep blue color my daughter requested, but the result was uneven and a murky green rather than what we discussed. It was presented as a "cool ombré," but that was not the look we asked for. The experience was uncomfortable enough that even my daughter noticed and said afterward, "Mom, that lady seemed really mean to us." That really says it all. I will not be booking with Liz again, and this experience has unfortunately made me hesitant to return to an Ulta Salon. Customer service matters, especially when someone is spending $300+ and trusting you with their hair. Liz could really benefit from working on her tone, professionalism, and ability to take accountability when there is a scheduling disconnect.
