We have used Superior Boarding Suites in the past and have always been happy. We recently boarded our two dogs with different dietary needs there. Their food was clearly labeled, I gave detailed instructions and was assured my dogs would be fed accordingly. When we picked them up, they had fed my shih tzu the wrong food resulting in him being sick for days. I inquired as to what had happened and I didn't hear back so I had to follow-up myself. I was told that they could not "pinpoint" what had happened but the staff "was spoken to". I don't know if there has been a change in staffing, but I will never bring my animals there again. read more

my 14 year old dog was very sick, I had 2 vets for him, 1 in duluth and superior animal hospital...he had a collapsed esophagus and a tumor pushing on his lungs, he could not breathe and he was suffering. I called superior animal hospital for help weeks in advance. (my duluth vet closed) I understand they were booked up as everyone is, but I insisted my dog was suffering and I didnt want him to suffer any longer, no one there would help me, I called numerous vets to have someone help my poor old sick dog not suffer any longer, no one could help...my dog died gasping for air yesterday and it was brutal to watch helplessly and for my 16 year old and I to experience. My only solace is that we all experienced the horror together as I held my dog telling him I loved him as he took his last breath...my point is no one at superior animal hospital listened to me, no one helped me and there needs to be a better policy for animals and their owners when it is a end of life situation, (blue pearl doesn't open until 6 on weekdays, but thank god they were open yesterday.) Superior animal Hospital told me that first "IF" they could get me in they would first need to do a quality of life doctor check, which again, there needs to be a better policy that if a pet owner needs help to relieve their animal of pain and suffering, every Vet should make time for that pet...every Vet should have 20 minutes of emergency time. Quality of life for both the pet owner and the pet. I pray that this doesn't happen to anyone else , I am hoping that everyone will rethink your schedules when someone calls needing help unexpectedly for the animals they love so much. We have been bringing all of our animals there and have decided to switch. I am disabled and have had to reschedule two of my pets exams mind you I was just there yesterday with my pup but was informed today because it was the second reschedule I had to do within a year "because my pain levels will not allow me to leave the house," That in order to make the appointment I would have to pay 50.00 up front per pet I was bringing in that day. Mind you we have used them for 5 spay and neuters this year and regular exams, but your loyalty means nothing to them if you are disabled and call 3 hours ahead of time to reschedule due to your own physical disabilities. Goody bye, if you are disabled do not use this place unless you can predict 48 hours ahead of time that you will be unable to move. read more

The vet and vet tech care was neither as thorough nor as professional as what I've received elsewhere (new to area) and expect. The vet sent a prescription to my pharmacy, but gave no info on how my cat might respond (e.g., side effects, how to know if it's working). The vet left room before I could answer questions. The vet said nothing about following up. She also failed to explore options. I had to introduce ideas for discussion. Would not see same vet again. If this business cares about its reputation and wants to improve its service, it will contact me to offer an appt with a different vet and offer some complementary service or discount for the return appointment. In short, they will show me they can do better and that they care about doing so. read more

Being new to the area and a new puppy mom, wasn't sure which vet to take Mako to. After reviews on 4 different places and a friend referring me to superior animal hospital, and I am so happy we go here. My puppy had a rash that was just not getting better. Called in for an appointment and when we were being seen the nurse asked if we wanted to finish her booster series as well while we were in today so we wouldn't have to schedule another day to come in. That was so awesome of them to squeeze that in for us and remind me we still had the last shot due. We have seen doctor Bob and Sarah a few times now and every time Mako and I go in we get the best service, the vet is always so great about explaining everything that is going and the front desk staff are all so nice! Too bad. My boyfriend and I have had mostly positive experiences with them, until my last appointment. It was an unscheduled, urgent care visit, for my cat who was having stomach issues. Vomiting, diarrhea, all that. And a distended abdomen that they didn't seem to catch in the physical exam-- it took an x-ray for the doctor to notice. Anyway. The service was quick and soon my cat was being handed back to me, but right when I set the carrier in my car I saw it. Her pad was shoved up the carrier wall with diarrhea on it, and most of the diarrhea was in a pile on the bare floor, just by the wire door. Mind you this was READILY apparent, anyone handling her would have noticed. Not one staff member mentioned to me that my cat had an accident, or made any attempt to clean it up so I could at least get her home. Nah she was crying the whole drive home and of course got it on herself. I couldn't even go into work until hours later after giving a bath and cleaning up. I'm planning on trying a new vet next time. read more

Being fairly new to the area, I didn't have an established Veterinarian yet for my 5 cats & 1 dog. I first discovered Superior Animal Hospital almost 2 years ago when I had to put my 14 year old dog Daisy down. A friend of mine recommended S.A.H. and I couldn't have been more happy with how Daisy & I were treated. I've never been around more compassionate & understanding people. They went above & beyond to make a very sad event, the end of my sweet companion's life, as non-traumatic as possible. Both Daisy & I were treated with genuine love, respect, understsnding, & compassion. My next experience with them was a couple months ago when one of my cats got sick. They got him in immediately & treated him as if he were their own pet and I felt completely confident in their diagnosis & care of my fur baby. My most recent encounter was equally as wonderful. Another of my cats got very sick and Dr Sarah saw him. She was clearly very competent & knowledgeable, but beyond that, her genuine love of animals was very evident as she went way beyond all my expectations to affordably assure that my cat was accurately diagnosed & treated. We currently foster a bunny named porky. He was actually diagnosed with the snuffles . Upon doping him off with us, the rescuer had told us that porky has to be seen by Dr. Bob because he is so good with porky. A few weeks ago Porky's snuffles flared up so it was time to make an appointment with Dr Bob. We called Superior Animal Hospital and Dr Bob was able to get Porky in that day to see him. I took Porky down there and there was no wait to get Porky into a room and be seen. He gave Porky an exam and we ended up taking Porky home with a medicine for his snuffles. During the visit Dr Bob was very gentle and careful with Porky. He showed me how to administer Porky's medicine and taught me all kinds of new things I didn't know about rabbits. He also told me that when Porky had come in 2 years ago, he had only weighed 2 pounds and he is 4.7 pounds now. Porky enjoyed the medicine that they gave him and took it most of the time with no hassle. The staff also trimmed his nails for us and were very gentle with Porky. Dr Bob also recommended porky's new favorite treat spinach which makes him binky often! We would like to give a big thank you to Dr Bob and the staff at Superior Animal Hospital for being so kind and compassionate to Porky. Although this veterinarian is excellent in its care of animals, I will not be returning, except to complete the well puppy package I purchased. Their prices are outrageous! I was going to take the puppy there to be spayed, but they told me it would cost $525!!! And that was with a 5% discount for having purchased the well puppy package. I asked for that figure to be double checked, and, yep, that was the price. I have since found a different vet to do the surgery and it cost $148, which included a test for Lyme and heart worm. read more

I have taken both of my dogs here since they were puppies and would not bring them anywhere else. The appointments always start immediately when they are supposed to. The staff is very friendly and do what they can to make sure your pet is comfortable and at ease. The vet tech gets down to the level of your dog and rubs their belly and talks to them the whole appointment. The veterinarians are very knowledgeable and take all of your concerns seriously. The physical exams are extremely thorough, and they notice things about my pets that even I didn't notice. They are aware that everyone is busy, and they do what they can to make the appointment move quickly, and give you updates on how long the tests will be and so on and so forth. I also appreciate the fact that they make sure to take the time to explain everything that they are doing so you fully understand what is happening and what you are being charged for. I believe that the prices are fair for the services they provide, and they even have convenient payment plans. They send me notices in the mail to remind me I have to update my dogs on their shots, They call and confirm appointments the day before so I don't forget, and they always call a few days after an appointment to make sure your pet is doing well and has improved from the medication.
