Newest bathroom

I live in a loft unit that was built 15+ years ago. Even though it's not that old the bathroom seemed dark and dated. I had Florin renovate other bathrooms and he and his crew did an amazing job on those, so I never bothered to get estimates from other contractors. Again, he transformed the small dark bathroom into a luxurious space. The building is mostly concrete so we couldn't really enlarge the bathroom, but it feels spacious because of the lighting, colors and choice of fixtures. Every detail is perfect. From the moment they arrive, Florin and his guys are polite, careful of not only my space but the hallways, elevators and lobby as they bring materials and tools in and out. I've referred my neighbors to him and everyone has been happy with the work he's done for them.

Thank You, SBS Building for the transformation to my beautiful new bathroom. I found Florin (the owner) on Facebook and immediately liked his work. I was quite surprised that he was the one who came out to give the original estimate on what would be my first remodel. This always is a preference of mine as it offers me a sense of trust of a person who stands by his work. His team was just as friendly and worked with integrity leaving my house clean at the day's end. I could always expect Florin to be the last to wait for me to get home through the week to debrief me on what was done and what was expected the next day. I admit I was nervous upfront, but he gave me amazing suggestions and insight, and always help me feel assured along the way. By the end of the week, I already wanted to book him for my next remodel. See you soon SBS!!!!!! ~Heather

Highly recommended!…read more Our water heater suddenly began leaking and I called Steve , having been very happy with their service in the past. Dusty came out the next morning and, since it was somewhat urgent, Steve was able to schedule Bruce to come out that afternoon and replace the water heater. He was on time, friendly and thoroughly explained the installed unit. Less than three hours later, the installation was complete. In a previous review (after main valve and toilet replacements) mentioned the many reasons I chose The Plumbing Pros. They include integrity, professional owner and tradesmen, quality workmanship and competitive pricing. They go out of their way to make sure the customer is satisfied. There's a good reason for all of their Five Star . Don't even bother calling anyone else!

They also gave me a quote ahead of time and the price stayed that amount. We were assisted by the plumber named Joe. He was professional, nice, informative, and helpful. I had looked at about 10 different plumber options and chose The Plumbing Pros because I felt they were very upfront, open, and honest. I really liked their website and how they had photos of the owner and their team, with some info on their experience. I also felt the quoted price was reasonable for the job, especially after getting several quotes (many other companies did not list an "out the door price" but just a diagnostic price with some unknown addon price.) I liked getting a price up front before the work was started. Long story short, we would use them again for future plumbing needs.

I asked for an estimate for the job and was given a quote in the amount of $370; a cost I was OK with. I agreed to that cost and requested notification of ETA. I received a text message indicating the service person was on their way. The service person took a look at the faucet and almost doubled the price of the job.('$651.20). I was mortified. I questioned the cost increase and was provided a terse explanation. Realistically, no amount of explaining could justify the unreasonable inflation of cost. The guy was in and out of my house within 20 minutes. I won't ever use 5 Star Plumbing again. I will not recommend 5 Star Plumbing to anyone. The reason for the 2 stars - same-day service, notification of ETA, and he cleaned up after completion of the job. That's it. The absence of the other 3 stars - ridiculous inflated cost. The review process asks the question... What could improve? The best answer I have for that question...I should improve. I need to pay closer attention to the content of the negative reviews. I won't make that mistake again.

The work took 2X as long and he did not do the work as he communicated and was a terrible communicator throughout the project. If you want more details, see below: Contracted West Coast Flooring (Andrey) to sand and refinish floors. Andrey advised they would remove and reinstall the toilets. We emptied the house. Work that was to take about 1 week ended up taking 2 weeks. We would randomly stop by during the sanding process and find no one there but we were assured they would finish on time. The workers clearly worked hard when they were there but it was apparent they were not dedicated to completing this job in one push. Because we were not living in the house anymore, we had flexibility on time. However, from the start, WE were the ones notifying Andrey that things were not at the stage where they should be given his timelines. Throughout the project, Andrey resisted communicating status, revised timelines, surfacing obstacles and preferred to hide the details of the work from us. There is definitely a cultural bias here toward appearing strong and masking the finer details that are germane and material to homeowners. As it turns out the workers decided to take a pedestal sink out of the bathroom as well as its toilet. We only learned later that they did NOT in fact remove the toilet in the back of the house and never told us this. After 2.5 weeks they completed the work in early October and the floors looked much improved. We did have them replace word for a transition between the kitchen and back porches which were floored in pine that they did in a rainforest wood with mahogany grain nothing like the clear pine of the floors on either side so it stuck out like a sore thumb in the center of the flow in the back half of the house. On the whole their floor work was worth what we paid. Their project management, communication and transparency were NOT. And if you can live with people like this, enjoy the product. But we had a plumbing problem from their work I will describe. When the floor refinishing was complete, we put the empty house on the market for 6 weeks. During this time no one lived there or used the toilets or sinks. We decided to rent the house out rather than fight a failing housing market. The tenants moved in 3 weeks later. By this time the work had been completed about 50 days before the tenants moved in. As soon as they did, they reported a pool of pool of water in the basement under the back toilet and the master bathroom sink was leaking all over the new floor. We called in a licensed plumber who charged $250 per hour the normal rate in California post-Covid for a professional, not a handyman. He found the toilet in the back had not been seated correctly. I asked the plumber to reseat that toilet and the main one as well as fix the leaking sink. As it turns out the main toilet's mounting bolts had been damaged when the flooring crew removed or replaced it. The plumber also found that the sink drain was cracked in 3 places and its pedestal was not mounted to the basin. This took 9 hours to fix, so about $2025. I raised this issue to Andrey and ONLY THEN did he inform me that they had decided not to take out the back toilet and not tell me....so that toilet's problem was not his fault. He admitted that the main toilet and sink were touched by his team so he would begrudgingly pay half the repair cost. He then began to argue that I should have called him to make the repairs (the people who caused the issue in the first place), and then belittled me for paying $250 for a plumber which he said "only lawyers make that much". Despite this, he agreed in writing over text to send me a check. One week later, no check. Surprise! I texted him and he said he would check and I had to remind him again to check. He then claimed he mailed a check. 10 days later no check. Surprise! I texted him and he won't respond. I consulted with a tax attorney who advised I submit to the IRS a 1099-NEC to advise the IRS of the work. I asked Andrey for an address to send a copy to him as required for this to and he again would not respond.
