Had a preventative maintenance appointment today for my home electrical systems. my electrician was Paul Borges. He was outstanding in every way. arrived on time, very professional and friendly. thoroughly explained what he was going to do. He discovered that I had no power in my smoke detectors! they were running on battery only! He quickly diagnosed the problem as a loose wire in one of the 9 detectors. He disassembled the unit and fixed the problem while telling me exactly what he was doing. Also showed me how to tell if the power in the units was on so it did not happen again. great service. Had PM service done on A/C. My girlfriend was told the capacitor was dead and refrigerant, R410a was no longer approved by the EPA. Tech Alex claimed they aren't able to replace the refrigerant anymore. Said the unit was too old to be serviced and that the blower in the attic was corroded and needed to be replaced. Performed none of the required maintenance and gave her a quote for a new unit. $18,000. Keep in mind I do maintenance for a living, so I know a few basic things. I got home and looked up the refrigerant and it says you can still use R410a refrigerant, but new units can't be made using it. Lie #1 I opened the unit and did some voltage measurements to find no voltage coming in to the contactor. I checked the breaker. Was fine. Opened the Disconnect box and noticed the red service handle was set to OFF. I pulled it out, flipped it to ON and sure enough, the unit began working as if nothing happened. If the capacitor was bad, it wouldn't have come on. Lie #2 I opened the case on the condenser to find it had not been cleaned at all. I cleaned it. Vacuumed all the leaves and sprayed the coils off with a garden hose. I've heard this company has changed owners recently. Obviously, they don't have the customer's best interests in mind. Signed up for annual maintenance agreement. First appointment was canceled on day of service. Second appointment was terrible. My AC was working when the technician showed up, was broken when he left. Superior Comfort quoted me $1,769.78 to repair the problem and was going to schedule the repair for the following week. Instead, I called an electrician who came that day and the repair cost $150. read more

Very disappointed with my experience with Superior Cooling. I had an appointment scheduled for an estimate for over a week and a half and arranged my entire morning around their promised arrival window. Then, after the arrival window had already begun, they canceled the appointment at the last minute. I understand that unexpected issues can arise, but giving customers virtually no notice after they have taken time out of their day is completely unacceptable. Respect for a customer's time is a basic expectation, and unfortunately Superior Cooling failed to meet it. Based on this experience, I would be hesitant to rely on them for future service. read more

I called Superior Comfort because my oil boiler was making a clicking noise in the front, and I was seeing soot near the back. The first technician came May 21. He said there may be a loose gasket, tested for air in the lines, and showed me roughly a half gallon of oil he said indicated something was wrong. He did not have the needed part, told me to keep the boiler off, and said someone else would come out. Since my boiler also provides hot water, this meant no hot water. A second technician came May 22. He opened the top, said it was "boilers 101" not to touch a boiler this dirty, and said it needed cleaning before they would look further. The cleaning was quoted around $750. The office sent a document to approve the work and said they could not discuss scheduling until I signed. I later learned they could not come until May 29. On May 29, a third technician cleaned the boiler with a vacuum for about 60-90 minutes. When I asked how to pay for the $750 cleaning, he said he had also changed the nozzle and that this added about $850. The total was over $1,600, or closer to $1,500 after I joined their annual membership. The auto-recurring nature of the membership was not explained. While discussing the prior visits, the technician laughed and said the first two technicians were not "oil guys," which was concerning. After all of this, the clicking noise was still happening. He said he was not concerned and that it was not a safety issue, even though he did not identify the cause. The work also left a significant soot mess on the floor. I then called another company. Their technician listened near the components, diagnosed a bad coupler within minutes, replaced it, and the boiler has worked fine since. That visit cost $230. Superior sent three technicians, charged me over $1,500, left a mess, and did not fix the issue I called about. Another company identified and fixed it almost immediately. Based on my experience, I would not use Superior Comfort again. read more

They came for an annual check of our heating system (forced hot air). Technician took several pictures inside of the system and said that the 18 year old furnace had cracks and a pin hole. They turned off the gas and would not turn it back on. Said it was illegal to do so and that we needed a new system for just under 11K. I said I wanted a second opinion. They emailed me the pics of furnace and I forwarded them to the Company that installed furnace when condo was built They came to inspect the next morning and could not find any cracks or holes. Pictures did not match up with my unit. Thought it looked as good as new. I canceled my monthly plan and will find someone else to service unit from now on. read more

Very poor service, not professional. They cancelled on us 2 times. They never even called one time and we waited all day.. Then, they finally came. The tech said it was one part. The tech went to get it. He came back and went down to the boiler. He came back up 30 min later and said we needed a whole new boiler. He said they would call us the next day to schedule. They never called, so We got a second opinion and it was just the one part, he fixed it, charged 100.00. Boiler runs great! They tried to make us pay for a new boiler, cancelled 2 times. I wrote a review on Jan 28, 2025 about Superior Comfort and their poor service, lack of communication expensive repairs & lack of empathy for the customer & I submitted a written complaint to the Department Of Labor And Training in 12/24. DLT has fined the employees who were in violation, as well as the Master Plumber, who assigned them to my home when he knew that 2 had no license and 2 had the incorrect license. I discontinued my contract back in Jan 2025 w/Superior Comfort but their poor service/workmanship/lack of ethics continues in 2025. There's no reason I have to replace parts twice. I'm glad they were all fined and glad to be rid of them. read more

Called on a Saturday night when we discovered that we lost heat, on one of the coldest nights of the year. I left a message with their call center and they said someone would call me Sunday morning. They called me Sunday morning and said they could have a technician to me between 12-5pm but would call me back before 12:00 with a closer estimate of time. I ended-up calling them back at 2:30pm on Sunday to see if they had and ETA and to their word they showed up just before 3PM. Then the technician comes in with just his computer "no tools" and immediately starts by telling me because my system is over 10yrs old they are required to send me an estimate for a whole new HVAC system; at this point he still hasn't diagnosed my problem. Then he uses my tools to open the furnace and dianose that it is a "access limit switch", they will call for the part and someone will get back to me Monday morning; to confirm they have the part and schedule the repair for Monday evening. It's now Monday, no call, I call them at 9AM, they tell me someone will call me back, no call back, I call again at 11:30, and the call center person then puts me on hold and calls a manager or supervisor, then gets back on the line to tell me they have the part but can't get back to me until EOD Tuesday or early Wednesday.... Its freezing outside, am I just supposed to have not heat for five days in the freezing cold for a simple fix??? I appreciate that they came out on a Sunday, but from the start and throughout the technicians call I felt all they wanted to do was sell me a $22K new HVAC system rather than fixing my part, the repair was only $230 which was reasonable but then they lied about the time to fix the system. If they were honest, I would have found another company, I will never call this company again, worst experience I've ever had! I could truly say I felt like they could care less about me or helping to fix the problem. Just a MONEY GRAB!!!! read more

Completely dissatisfied with Superior Comfort. They quoted me for a leak test which was not performed and then billed me for it. Now they will not return and instead said I need a new system. It would have been nice to at least know if a leak could have been repaired. I am sending a 2 page summary to it detailing the frustration with Superior and how it simply ignored its obligation. Tim had come and completed the estimate on Tuesday. He said to me that the estimate would be completed by EOD Wednesday. On Thursday morning, I checked in with him, and he said an emergency call had come up, and he would have the quote by end of the week. On Sunday evening, I had not heard back from him yet. I tried calling and texting but did not receive a response. On Monday, I received a text saying he had a "commercial building server room go down" and had to deal with that as well. Finally received an estimate, and for just 2 floors, it was almost $60,000. He said he had not finished the estimate for the first floor yet, but judging by the original estimate, that would be minimally another 15-20k. So all-in-all, about $80,000 (!) for a ducted system on the 3rd floor, and mini splits on the 1st and 2nd floors for about 3,500 sq ft of living space. Pretty insane, and a big waste of time. I told Tim he should give customers a heads up that it'll be at least $x to avoid this wasted time. If I knew it was going to be north of $50k, I would have told him to save his time with writing up the estimate. read more

But Jose and Matt were incredibly competent and everything went great. They took control of everything and our home was always immaculate at the end of the day. They explained everything! Just wanted to tell anyone looking for an HVAC company why we chose Superior Comfort. From the first friendly phone call, and many subsequent related phone calls, to the sales representative meetings, the po lite, neat installation of equipment teams and compliance with the warranty guarantees, Superior Comfort turned out to be indeed Superior! After almost a year, all went well, but when there was problem, we contacted them for assistance. They came as soon as they could schedule an analysis of what was happening and conducted an impressive investigation of the problem. Within a most reasonable amount of time, their technicians worked nonstop in the most inclement weather completing what had to be done to comply with the warranty at no cost to us! I can tell you over the years, we have dealt with all different types of business sales companies, that "say" one thing and then do not follow up. Superior comfort installed a high efficiency cold climate heat pump and three mini split wall units in our 1900 home. The entire process working with SC was seamless and professional. I received quotes from many other contractors and SC by far had the best service and communication during the quote stage. A small example - every time they came into the house they used those boot slips to avoid tracking dirt into the house. Ryan did a full detailed walkthrough and thought through the locations of the ducts and drains to really minimize the impact to the exterior. He explained everything so I understood the work that would take place. Collin and Alex did an amazing job with the install over two long days. They were super focused, hard working, professional, and easy to have in/around the house. We're super happy with the job they did and would highly recommend them for heat pump projects. read more

We requested a repair of our Rheem hot water tank from Superior Comfort since we were having a problem with getting hot water. 3 technicians came for 5 times, and none of them fixed it. We ended up spending 10 days without having hot shower. Worst of all, they took the total of $664.00 for the new parts that did not fix the problem. The first technician who came to our house was a guy named Steven. He restarted the pilot, left our house, and the flame died out after 20 minutes. We called the company next day, the same technician came and the same exact thing happened. He relit the pilot, went home, and the fire died out after couple of minutes. So we called them again, and a different technician came this time. He said that he needed to replace the whole parts of the tank. I called the company next day and was told that the technician was absent and that they were going to send their senior technician to replace the parts. He came in later that day and told us that he needed get an old part from the other technician from the previous day and reuse it to fix the tank. Next morning he came in again, replaced the parts, left our house, telling us to trust him. 20 minutes later---the flame died out. We decided to call a different repair company, and the technician fixed the tank in 10 minutes by cutting a few wires. We later called Superior Comfort to ask for a full refund, but the receptionist turned down our request by telling us that she needed a summary or invoice from the technician who fixed the tank as a proof. Now we are considering of filing a consumer complaint to a government agency. As an advice for other customers, I would strongly recommend them to find some other repair company or they will lose hundreds of dollars for nothing. read more

1. Telephone answering machines are unnecessarily lengthy and complicated. I don't need to listen to relentless commercials about how pretty their town is or how great their company is. If you need to call, press Zero immediately. 2. Needed to order a part. They'd call me in five days. Two weeks later, I had to prompt them, and still no part. My heat stopped working and I had to call Superior Comfort's 24 hr service. Like a flash, brendon arrive in less then in an hour and showed me why in less then 5 minutes. I had accidentally turned off the emergency switch! I swear he never rolled his eyes or laughed aloud, instead corrected a few potential leaking problems, changed the filters since the emergency service required a minimum 2 hour fee, and walked me through patiently and kindly, all the things I should look for and know about my heating system. He surely did not have to do any of this as it was past 9 pm and I'm sure he would have much preferred to be home, but his kindness and service reminded me why I not only love doing business with local business but why I love my new relationship with Superior Comfort. Our 20-year-old HVAC system was on its way out; the A/C barely worked last summer. After receiving three estimates, Superior's was just a bit higher than the others for equivalent work and equipment. What swayed me to go with them was the very efficient process of getting a quote done and then modifying it a bit for two changed return and supply ducts. Chad was great to work with from his home visit for the estimate to a return visit to check on the work. The install crew did a very nice job...it's an amazingly neat and clean installation into a small space. We did have a few communication breakdowns scheduling the installation and the inspection, requiring me to make a few calls to keep me in the loop when it should have been them who relayed the information to me. I was glad to support a local company and hope for responsive service in the future should I need it. read more

I have only had positive experiences with my own home repairs and installations. Superior had been maintaining my 20 year old boiler and their service was great but it was time for a new one. In 2018 I had both an AC split system and a heater/boiler installed by them. Both systems were recommended by them and they also qualified for Nat Grid credits of over $2000, thank you!!! The AC was the first and from the logistics in planning of the system to the techs install, and startup it went very smooth. I was always a window AC guy but I decided to splurge. I wanted one to cool the 1st floor living space and one for the master bedroom on the 2nd floor as well, so they recommended a 2 head system with a single compressor/base unit. That was brilliant and they both work great, why did I wait so long? The boiler was more recent and from design to installation they were very professional. Jeremy configured the layout and installation and was very thorough and detailed. The techs while removing my old boiler pointed out several places that were not a quality install. They added extra valves and other modifications to "upgrade me " at no extra charge from the proposal. $863. to change a thermostat and it took them a week to get there. I own rental property in Bristol but I live just south of Boston. I have a 67 year old tenant who lives with her two year old grandson who's heat went out. It's electric heat and the thermostat died. They were referred to me by by an other contractor that I called up. They told me it would be $179. just to show up but if they did the work that would be applied to the work done. I told them in advance that the thermostat failed so all they had to do was check the wiring and install a new thermostat. For this work, a total of 3 hours of work, they charged me $863. I called them before writing this just to see if I could get this reduced. The customer service agent was polite and professional but after checking with the service manager and the owner I was told no. I was charged $287.67 per hour for 3 hours to change my thermostat. They did offer me $100. of my next service call which I graciously declined. read more

I have been very unhappy with my purchase of two mini splits for my second home in middletown ri. I called superior comfort for service on the larger unit and was surprised that it was not working. They determined it was a slow leak most likely on the install. I paid for the service call and to recharge the refrigerant. Now it is not working properly again. I can only imagine it has been a bad unit from the start or another problem which will require another service call etc. after spending so much money for these units I would rethink purchasing the mini splits again. read more

Pretty upset with my most recent service call. My boiler needed a tune up and was leaking. The scheduling was efficient and the technician was prompt and professional. What became an issue was when a two hour service call for a cleaning and a valve replacement resulted in a nearly $600 bill. They didn't have the part they needed so they charged me half an hour of labour at almost $150/hour for him to drive to a plumbing supply store, then they bought retail parts which they marked up. They refused to tell me the mark up on the parts and claimed they made no money on the labour. Yeah right. They offered a $25 refund but it was still ludicrously expensive. Opaque billing practices and charging people for a plumbers time to drive around town to get retail parts which they then mark up is ridiculous. Recommend finding a more honest and up front company. read more

In recent weeks I've had to have my AC fixed. Superior Comfort is by far the worst company I've dealt with in years. I asked them to fix my central AC. The first visit the technician (all of whom are very polite) came in checked both up and downstairs systems and charged me almost $400. He didn't fix it. I called again. The second technician came in, checked both upstairs and downstairs and charged me $400. I balked at the cost and was put on the phone with a very aggressive office worker who threatened me with the technician disconnecting my system or "pulling a plug" if I didn't pay on the spot. I paid. The AC didn't work four days later and the system became clogged with ice blocks. The third technician came today. He changed the filter on the downstairs unit and wanted to charge me $250. I balked again, engaged with the aggressive office worker and finally paid them $150. When I asked who the owner was, her response was "Jacob". She refused to give out his last name, as did the technician. What owner doesn't want to give out his last name??? Stay clear of these guys. They love to take your money. Long story short - techs are fantastic but their scheduling and prioritizing is abysmal. Highly recommend finding a different company. It started getting hot so we turn on the AC and the house heats up 10 degrees - oh no! While my husband and I would deal with it (open windows, run fans, etc.), our 5-month old cannot. So we call and are told the next available appointment is over a week out - okay we book it. The technician shows up, pokes around a bit, and discovers that the AC unit must have a leak - it's empty. But since we are going out of town and the AC won't be running, not a good time to fill it and leave it sit idle so we book an appointment two weeks out - taking off of work to be there and taking the first appointment of the day so we don't have to wait for another job to be finished before they come to us - to get the repairs made. The day before the appointment, I get a call that someone else had an emergency and could they move my appointment from a set time (first appointment of the day, I was told specifically told there wasn't a window because they aren't coming from another job) to a 4 hour window - of when they will show up. I say no, I can't, already took the time off of work. I'm told they will call me back - they don't. So, the morning of the appointment arrives... The appointment time comes and goes... An hour after they are late I call and am told that there IS a window (7:30-10:30) and that the technician will be there as soon as possible. Another hour and a half passes and the technician still isn't there and now the Office Manager threatens to hang up on me and cancel the technician all together. Ten minutes from the end of the appointment window, the technician shows up - and needs to be at the house for a couple of hours. read more

I was grossly over billed for services for work they performed on my hot water heater. They had told me by phone that they charge $149/hr for the first hour and $105 for subsequent hours. Then they sent not one but two technicians who spent less 2 hours to perform the work, yet they billed me 7 manhours at $125/hr, and also billed me over $350 in materials cost without proper explanation. They also billed for work they had previously said they would not bill for (due to their mistake), and when they came again with the 2 man crew, they billed me double the hours for the crew they had sent to do the work. Total they charged me was $1,797.24. I disputed the amount, yet in spite of my arguing with them for weeks in a series of e-mails, they refused to give me proper credit for the work. In the middle of my dispute with them, they went ahead and charged my credit card leaving me helpless to try and recover the over billed amount. In summary, they charged me 4 times what the work should have cost and only gave me approximately 1/3 back as a refund. The amount they over charged me for the work involved, and their bully tactic of simply charging my credit card in spite of my disputing the charges, is tantamount to steeling in my opinion. Don't use these guys. Find someone else who doesn't engage in over billing. read more
