I went here specifically for the ceviche bar. My friend told me it was awesome. I got the mango habanero ceviche. The nice lady told me it's super hot Caliente. and it was not a disappointment. I ended up going back the next day and getting more with a friend and got some Carne Asada onions tortillas, and some beer and made tacos and had such a good time. This is a great store and wonderful food and people prices are not bad considering the shopping experience that you get vegetables on ice a real ceviche bar the ladies chopping up the vegetables are so nice. This particular location of superior market is NOT safe specially at evening hours, the staff are NOT friendly, NOT helpful specially if you have any disabilities or health issues with bagging your groceries. Note: (apparently this is SUPERIOR GROCERS store policy)!!!?? Not enough cashiers or open checkout during peak hours. The meat department is nasty & always has bad smell running through out the whole market. Prices in all grocery items compare to other market near by is simply outrageous & over priced. there red tag "SALE" items prices is always higher then Vons & Ralphs. Formerly Numero Uno, Top Value and McCowans, ( way back in the day), and God only knows what else it's been named, it's a decent family market that has a surprisingly nice selection of produce and meat products. (FYI, Leo's tacos plant their asses just outside), which I'm sure, assists in their patronage. The bakery section is spot on, employees are helpful but the booze selection is a bit sketch... (me, being a bit of a boozer, takes exception to this, lol). Clientele can be questionable as well but daylight hours equate to a pretty safe atmosphere. Me myself, not living too, TOO far from here, have no issues but others may feel differently. In all reality, they cater mostly to the Hispanic speaking peeps, and that's ok with me... Parking is abundant on the 1st st side but whack on the Bandini st side. If I need a quick item or two, I'm always down to drop in. read more

Typically I ignore the low key racism I experience from the cashiers when I shop here. (For my POC) They can have their ignorance, I just want my groceries. However, today was blatant. I got in line at register 3 just behind a gentleman with a few items. As soon as the heavy set girl saw me start to unload my items, she reached underneath the counter, grabbed the Closed sign, slapped it on conveyor belt and shouted angrily " I'm closed! I've been closed!" And refused to help me. I let her shouting at me slide and went over to the register 1. There was a Latino woman in front of me with 1 item. Suddenly I hear, " Next customer at register "tres". The woman who was in front of me goes over to the heavyset girl. I follow and get in line behind the customer and said to the cashier"I thought you were closed?" Heavy set looks at both of us and walks away in a huff, leaving us both standing there. We both went back to reg 1 and the cashier apologized to the lady in front of me telling her in Spanish (not a complicated language guys) that she was sorry and there were trying get her out of there. So.. blatant racism followed by attempted preferential treatment. Anyway, Superior Grocers if your cashiers only want to serve Latinos just put a Latinos Only sign on the front door. I doubt anyone will care. I'll spend my money elsewhere and will never shop there again. read more

Call there corporate office on Santa Fe! I been sitting on this complaint for months. So over it! Absolutely the worst customer service/cashier. The young girl that almost forces you to package your own groceries. Hates helping and Rolls her eyes like she hates this place. I come here literally 4 times a week I get my exercise and come in. I need 2 bags I drive at times but now walking. I grabbed another bag. She rolls her eyes 15c. I mean a customer that comes In 4 days a week. That gets the packaged lemons that are 50/50 white and the garlic contains that are $5.75 that go rotten in a week. My choice but do I return it! They need to go to the one on Pacific to see how you treat people. It's not the 15c. It's the attitude and rolling of the eyes. Sickened. These kids have 0 respect! read more

ticket 0051, 6/5/25, if you care. First time in the store, in Pedro 8 years. Security guard gives me a real practiced stink eye coming in the store-- I am not a kid. Too much cologne too. Prices seemed great, was pleased shopping. Check out I felt like the cashier hated me. Super nice and chatty to the Latino in front of me... but for me nothing but harsh resentment was what I picked up. Slid the groceries the the inside track, even though the easily reached outside track was wide open when she started ringing. Getting the last few items up the track was difficult. She had left before I finished, not even sliding some of the upper items for me. "Don't let the door hitcha in the ass" was the sentiment I was left with. Such a shame to see a store lose a customer before they even had one. read more

The cashiers refuse to bag my groceries. They straight up walk away. Even if Im purchasing a the plastic bags they wont help. One cashier explained its a policy. They no longer bag items for the customer. Both locations in San Pedro refuse to bag groceries. So I will no loger shop at any of their stores. May as well automate their job if no one is gonna actually provide any kind of service. read more

This place is utter GARBAGE! They should rename it to INFERIOR Grocers. Before when it was Numero Uno, and Top Value, they actually had decent products at a decent price. Now the prices are higher than before, and the quality of everything is bottom-of-the -barrel. Many of their products are expired, such as milk, cheese, eggs, etc. If you don't check the expiration dates, you're exposing yourself to food poisoning. The produce department smells like literal decomposing bacteria. All the fruits and veggies are inundated with flies, because they're ROTTING. It's disgusting. The new owners apparently are Koreans, and they should be ashamed of themselves. They have no consideration for the Latino demographic or our buying power. Apparently they are selling expired rotten food as if we were in North Korea, as opposed to North America. We're done with this place! Purchase here at your own risk! read more
