After taking a bite, I still prefer my breakfast burritos with scrambled eggs over runny eggs. They also include Tomatillo and Habanero salsas. Ordering is done at the window. When your order is ready, they will exit their door, call your name and bring you your food. I went there on a Saturday around 09:00. There was already a small crowd waiting for their orders to be completed. They do provide some stools outside on the sidewalk for you to sit while waiting. And you should definitely show up for their Breakfast Burrito because it is the South Bay's best IMO. Choose your chorizo, but you can't go wrong. Super close by and hidden in a local community, needless to say, I'm ecstatic I stumbled upon this gem! If you love chorizo, like SERIOUSLY LOVE Chorizo, then you gotta check out The Chori-Man. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito and it was stuffed with a ton of meat and not over portioned with one of any ingredient. There's multiple options of chorizo flavor to choose from and for the price you pay, it's definitely on par with any burrito joint in the area. Also got the chilaquiles which was pretty bomb with a medium spice flavor to it. For what you pay for, the portions were definitely more than enough to share with. Greeted by a friendly cashier at the window, it's always a plus when there's positive vibes especially being a first time customer not knowing what to expect. The cook time wasn't too long either. Overall the experience and food was well worth it! If I'm in the San Pedro area again for breakfast, definitely would consider making another trip. [Parking]: Street parking only and streets are pretty narrow in this part of the neighborhood, but it was not impossible to find an available spot and I parked about one block away from the shop. [Atmosphere]: Take-out only with a dozen plastic stools just outside of the shop and no restroom; however Colossus (a popular bakery shop with several locations in Los Angeles) is located right next to The Chori-Man so many customers actually made a side stop and ordered a cup of coffee. [Menu]: I asked the cashier for recommendation and she recommended Red Chicken Chorizo (mild spice). Cute little shop in San Pedro. No parking lot but usually able to find street parking easily. Owners are local and super kind. My go to is always the chile rellano burrito. Your choice of chorizo (most of their chorizo is pork- red, green, white, maple habanero, and they also have a chicken chorizo or a soy chorizo) or chipotle braised beef, beans and rice. You can't go wrong with any of the meat options or the soyrizo. All are good. My last stop here I read the rest of the menu and tried some new things. Their chicken Sammy was super good. It comes with house made potato chips which I usually could care less about - but these chips are bomb. They taste like wingstop fries lol. Also tried their sweet potato soup - so goodddd! It's vegan and I tasted ginger, coconut milk and turmeric, but I could be wrong. It's puréed and has whole kernels of roasted corn. They rotate their specials and drinks seasonally. They also have breakfast sandwiches (the one w the maple habanero patty is delicious) and chilaquiles. Check this place out! The Chori-Man is located in a largely residential neighborhood on the corner of Alma and 23rd. By its location and my observation, it is primarily patronized by locals and people that know (now you know). The food - a Chori-Man breakfast burrito with runny eggs and soyrizo (yes the potatoes were crispy and the cheese well melted) accompanied by both green and red sauce (red has a tasty kick to it, whereas the green is tasty with little heat). Oh so good, the quality is all there. This will not knock you over with its size, but it packs a lot of taste in a well put together package. I was politely greeted with a warm smile letting me know I would be comfortable asking questions. All questions answered and I was on my way. While waiting, I was greeted by a guy who I'm guessing is the Chori-Man (how lucky was that). He asked what I ordered and I let him know and with a big smile, he said I hope you enjoy. Shortly, my burrito was ready and was brought out for me to dine on their outside sidewalk (chaired dining area). The Chori-Man came out and brought me a sample of their vegan soup, as he thought I might like it and said "a lot of people sleep on their soup." I think they are just eating their way through the menu and have r found it yet, and now that I know I will be back again. SO flavorful, bold, savory, and the perfect texture. This was the fastest I've ever eaten a burrito and it honestly didn't even make me feel too stuffed after like many burritos esp breakfast ones can make me feel. So this place had been on my list to try for literally years, but despite just being on the other side of the bridge from Long Beach, I'd never found the right excuse to be in the area when they were open, until last weekend. Last weekend, finally being in San Pedro around lunchtime, I knew exactly where I was going. When we got there, Saturday around 10:45 AM, it was already pretty busy, with a wait of about 20 minutes between ordering and receiving food - by the time we left, ~25 minutes after we arrived, it was definitely notably busier-looking - so definitely get there on the early side, if you don't want a long wait. (It's good, but it's definitely not wait-an-hour-level good.) I was also thinking, incorrectly, that they had a few tables - it is very much a to-go-only place, so we took our food home. I will say, they did a great job foil-wrapping my burrito - it was still pretty warm when we got back to Long Beach. I went with the chile relleno burrito with the maple habanero chorizo, for $15. I felt it was a reasonable size for the price and quality - the chile relleno part of it, I will say, was great. I'd had similar chile relleno-stuffed burritos from cheaper places before, and I could definitely tell the step up in quality. On the other hand, given I was expecting to be blown away by the chorizo, given that's what they're literally named for and known for... I agree with some other reviews, their maple habanero chorizo is fairly bland. I'm not actually entirely sure whether there wasn't very much in the burrito, or if it was just ground finely and easy to miss - I'm not sure how much I would've noticed if it'd been forgotten entirely. (I could tell there was *some* chorizo in the burrito, I was just expecting it to be more of the headliner. I was also expecting it to be somewhat spicy, which, for the record, it was not. Their salsa made up for that, though, obviously.) My wife had a fried chicken sandwich off the "specials" menu - I tried a bite of it, it was a solid fried chicken sandwich. I would have zero complaints about being handed one - wouldn't personally go out of my way for it, or pay $15 for it, but there was also absolutely nothing wrong with it. (But I also wouldn't personally go somewhere famous for their chorizo, and order something with no chorizo in it. :D) We also shared a horchata - $4.75, but quite large (enough for two people to share). Definitely worth its cost, though admittedly, one benefit of getting food to-go, when I got home, I adulterated my half with a couple different craft rums. It didn't *need* the rum to be good, though. I appreciate what they were trying to do, but it had some big drawbacks. I liked the over easy eggs. It had that good amount of yoke. Good potatoes, cooked well. No complaints with that. The maple habanero chorizo tasted just ok. A little like bland corned beef hash. Needed a dash of salt for each bite. Dropped a 1/2 star for the long wait, 1/2 star for the bland taste (needed some salt), full star for the tiny size of the burrito. It was about half the size of a normal breakfast burrito. Best breakfast burrito in South Bay! You can tell each chorizo is hand crafted with love. The flavors are balanced well, the portions are a great size, and the price point is reasonable granted inflated pricing everywhere. I really enjoyed the heat the chorizo breakfast had. It was neither too much nor too little. I was also able to sample some of their other burritos they were doing R & D for other distribution options. They were equally delicious and it seems they are on top of product development which is great to see. They have the quality for sure. The staff was exceptional friendly as well.
