Well, we did it. We remodeled our master bathroom. This was a big job. Our house is 20 years old and the builder installed bathroom was adequate but nothing special. My wife and I looked for inspiration and came up with a great design. It was complicated and would required tearing the bathroom to the bare studs in the walls and the floor was removed. The project took almost 90 days. They' were very patient and they worked with our schedule. A job this big requires patience. Despite plastics sheeting everywhere, your house will be dusty. I used them in the past and they did a nice job. Then in the past when I called them, they kept putting me off and eventually never showed up. Several years later, I decided to try them again for a different project because they had done a nice job. An appointment was made at a call came last minute that someone wasn't available and they would call back. I called them many times and no one has ever called me back again. It seems like if you can actually engage them, Their work was pretty good for me, but communications is terrible. read more

We engaged Superior Home Renovations after having a major pipe burst in our kitchen. Tom graciously came over to ease our anxieties over the myriad of things that needed to get fixed in our home. Though we are still in process with all of the renovations, Tom has been wonderful to work with every step of the way. Updated review....1 year later, I'm finding things that weren't completed. My drawers were connected correctly and are coming apart. They didn't connect the base to the drawer itself first, before installing the drawer slides. I have screws and shims hanging out of the walls, cabinet doors aren't level....the list goes on. Do your self a favor and pick someone else. Because now I'm out of pocket MORE money hiring another contractor to repair the things they left. read more

I requested a consultation, scheduled at 2:30p. I waited in my living room - next to the front door - which was also cracked open. At 2:44p I saw a message on Yelp sent 10 minutes earlier at 2:34p stating he - Kevin Cramer - was out front. I went out front but no one was there, so I messaged back. He called me back saying he had to leave because he was on a tight schedule. I said I would have expected that you would come to the door rather than message me through Yelp to tell me you were here. He then claimed he rang the doorbell but no one answered. Not possible as I was sitting right by the door and even if by some miracle I didn't hear it my dog certainly would have! He wanted to reschedule but a) my schedule is pretty full and I had carved out this time to meet him and b) if you are this flakey and untruthful for a consultation I cannot imagine what it would be like to try to work with your company. read more

After some thought I decided to post a real review on our experience with Tom and his team. We are highly disappointed and frustrated with the recent home remodeling service provided by his company. First and foremost, I want to address the issue regarding the falling cabinetry. It is unacceptable that after the remodeling was completed even during remodeling, the cabinets started to fall apart. This poses not only a safety hazard but also reflects poorly on the quality of their work. We feel highly misled by Tom. He assured us that we would receive high-quality cabinetry at the beginning of the project. However, it's evident that the cabinets we received are of poor quality. There is a lack of clarity and accountability demonstrated from the beginning. He says he could do things then take them back during the remodel. Then there's also faulty electrical work, recessed lights and truly overall like what Tom have sold us "paid premium" by going with him we have received a lower bid elsewhere as we were promised quality best of the best work, and his promptness being that we were such in a vulnerable situation as well. I highly recommend Superior Home Renovations. I'm a relatively new resident to Irvine & sought out estimates for repairs to my condo's kitchen and entryway floors on Yelp. Superior Home Renovations was quick to reply to schedule a free consultation and provide an estimate. Kevin was punctual and thorough in discussing possible issues about my flooring project needs, including organizing a visit with plumbers to address possible leak issues & checking with their own insurance team (in case I needed to pursue claim coverage, etc.). Ultimately, I did not have a leak causing the flooring problem, nor did I need to involve my own insurance company but as a new homeowner and CA resident I really appreciated having these recommendations and this process explained to me by the team at Superior Home Renovations. Overall, there was clear communication with Kevin via text and/or email to provide the initial estimate, a scope of work for the project, and to keep me informed about the labor for the flooring from start to finish. Kevin also worked with me on matching another contractor's rate for a portion of the project. Leading up to the scheduled start date, I had several questions and had to narrow repairs to just address the flooring--all of this was a smooth process. On the project start date, Edgar and Kevin were punctual and prepared, they explained the plan for their labor on each day and kept me informed (sharing pictures after the work was complete for the day, informing me about the time needed to dry/set, etc.). Edgar also shared his flooring expertise when I requested input about grout color and other considerations about maintenance and renovations for the age of the property, etc. I'm a novice to anything regarding hiring for home renovations and repairs (this was my first time ever). Ultimately, I chose to work with SHR because of their clear communication, attention to detail, and competitive rates. From the estimate phase to building out the scope of work, completing the project within the expected timeframe, and following-up with me after - I am very pleased. Tom was originally contracted to remodel our master bathroom, who my husband met with and went over all the details. We had a slap leak in our kitchen which after the initial repairs, were still left with an unusable kitchen, and our entire downstairs would be completely packed out. Due to the extent of the water damage, our existing cabinets were not salvageable. Our kitchen, living room, and downstairs bathroom had to be demoed, most of which was done by Tom's team: Jonathan, Edgar, Kevin, & Trent (can't leave out Omar, he just wasn't part of the demo). With Tom's expertise and experience, we had a few conversations to go over concepts. Then, he put together some ideas of what he thought we might want or like. When we met to look at his plans for what would be our future kitchen, we knew he would be our contractor (we met with 3). The layout Tom came up with was stunning and personally I couldn't have been happier. The finished product of our kitchen, unplanned downstairs bathroom, and master bathroom are absolutely incredible! We couldn't have imagined they would turn out as beautiful as they did from a rendering, but Tom helped make it a reality. His team is also a testament to what working for (or with) the best can achieve. I got to know Jonathan, Edgar and Kevin over the weeks they made our house more into a home. The work they do is truly art. And Omar...wow! To start off, Kevin was BY FAR the most responsive contractor we contacted when beginning this project, and that didn't change throughout the execution of the remodel. The thing I most appreciated about Superior Home Renovations is the fact that I learned that I could trust them to not just try to make money off of me. We were having a problem with our shower and we were told ahead of time how much it was going to cost to fix if it was an easy fix and then how much it might cost if it was a difficult fix. When the team member showed up they were able to fix it with wd-40. It would have been very easy for them to just go in and not try to fix it through a cheaper means and just make money off of us. We replaced our flooring after experiencing a slab leak. When we first suspected the leak, we notified owner Tom and he came later that evening to verify our issue. Tom was great in informing us of possible scenarios and that information did wonders in reducing our anxiety. When we finally had an action plan, we asked if he would be available to meet us at a flooring store to discuss our options as well as informing of the various types of flooring that was available. He was kind enough to do that despite his busy schedule. In essence, we established a dialogue so that any concerns we had could be addressed up to the point of the start of the project. Once we chose the flooring, we scheduled to work to begin at the end of the month. To our surprise, we were asked if the timeline for the flooring could be moved up, like 3 weeks in advance of which we were happy to oblige! Prior to the floor project, we also had the house re-piped with a recommendation from Tom and that job was done in one day!! We were very happy with his recommendation and the piping job they did. Tom arranged everything, got our permits, and work on the flooring started on Monday, 4 days after the piping was done. Edgar was the foreman and he brought in Isaiah and Trent. Edgar was really good about letting us know what to expect, giving a timeline and really going out of his way to meet our needs. By Friday, the guys were done. The flooring was beautiful, from the floorboards to the end pieces, the attention to detail was excellent, and we were very happy with the work. We were also impressed each day during the project because the guys always cleaned up after themselves and things like dust was kept to a minimum. These guys work hard and we were thankful for their diligence (always came on time in the morning). For any future work we need, we will be calling on them for sure! I would recommend them anytime. We had Jack-and-Jill bathroom that needed a very difficult leak fix as well as a freshening up of the bathtub area and some plumbing repairs. From the first contact Superior Home Renovations was the most responsive to our needs and exceeded expectations for timely quality execution. Stephen was our project lead, and along with Tom the owner, made a plan that was completed within two days of the targeted finish date. We also appreciated that everyone on the team was hands-on; if a task could be completed by the person on-site, it was, regardless of title. A non-standard sink fitting was quickly found on-line and put in place. The few change orders we had were accommodated and completed within the overall schedule, and at a very fair cost. Communication was in real time throughout the project, and we were never left wondering what or when the next step would be. Excellent collaboration and exchange of ideas. After showing some initial interest in my Stair Remodel project and asking me to send pictures, Stephen flaked-out on me. We were trying to arrange for him to come out and take a look at the site and provide and estimate, but he suddenly stopped returning my phone calls and responding to my text messages, without any explanation of why. If he decided not to bid on the project, I would have appreciated a call or a text message saying so - rather than keeping me hanging.
