My wife and I decided to do a minor update to our kitchen...new countertops, backsplash, sink, range hood cover, pendant lights, island staining. We engaged Miller & Sons Construction after meeting with them and a couple of other construction contractors. They met us at our home, provided detailed information as to what they would do and when, offered a competitive quote (not the lowest), and seemed like a good choice for our project. Their representative/Field Supervisor, Stacey Moore, assured us that our project was not too small for their portfolio (several other contractors DID tell us that our project did not warrant their interest due to size), informed us that our budget included a Project Manager who would regularly visit and make sure that things were being accomplished in an organized, efficient way, and was clear that, once we made our countertop slab selection, the project would take 2-3 weeks max. We did make our slab choice about 10 days later (work had already begun on the island staining), and we looked forward to an easy and swift completion of the work. THEN THE TROUBLE BEGAN! We were responsible for acquiring the new farmhouse sink and pendant lights that they would install as part of our agreement. We had the sink approved by both Ms. Moore and the designer that had been hired by Miller & Sons to wrangle all of the design and technical details. The sink and pendant lights arrived in a shipment from Build.com and we put both away in our garage as the sink wouldn't be needed until near the end. They demo-ed our existing kitchen countertops, sink, and cooktop shortly after the island had been stained, leaving us with a microwave as our cooking option. We ordered in a lot during this period. When they came to do final measurements for the island countertop they realized that the sink we had purchased (approved by TWO people at Miller & Sons) was too deep and would not fit into our island as currently designed. Making it fit would take more time and money so we opted for a different sink that met the design specifications. That slowed the project by nearly two weeks, as the original sink needed to be returned (an expense we had to bear) and the new sink needed to be purchased and received. Again, we did not have a functioning kitchen at this time and were anxious to get things back on schedule. Unfortunately that did not appear to be Miller & Sons focus. Our project languished for weeks at a time as either nothing got done or workers would come to our home and ask US what they were supposed to do that day. On TEN occasions we were informed that we needed to be present the next day to receive workers WHO NEVER SHOWED UP. On THREE more occasions workers showed up but could not do anything because a necessary prior step had not been completed (ie, a painter showed up to paint the new range hood cover which had not yet been installed.). TWICE they sent a crew to install the range hood and the new cover, but they left scratching their heads as to how they were going to do it! We were being held hostage in our home waiting for workers who either didn't show up or did NOTHING when they did! Our simple, little project took 98 DAYS TO COMPLETE! We were without a functioning kitchen (no water, no cooktop) for 49 DAYS! Once we did have water and a cooktop there were an additional 23 days where the kitchen was still in construction disarray, with equipment, protective paper, etc, strewn about our great room. Miller & Sons finally declared the project complete DESPITE our demands that they finish the paint touch-ups that were glaringly incomplete! It was about that time that they assigned us a NEW Project Manager! We expressed our dissatisfaction with the timeline and lack of supervision (we only saw our original Project Manager TWICE during the entire 98 days, and he eventually stopped returning our calls and texts) and asked them to consider a discount on our final payment WHICH THEY REFUSED TO HONOR! Their Office Manager/Accounts Receivable person, Brenda Urtez, offered neither understanding nor compassion for our plight, while wishing us a "blessed day." Her Christianity apparently ends at responsibility. We have several other small to medium size projects for our recently purchased home and we will use Miller & Sons Construction on NONE OF THEM. We feel they are disingenuous, deceiving, incompetent and not worthy of future consideration. BEWARE...hire Miller & Sons Construction at your own peril! read more

Miller & Sons Construction Group worked on our landscaping, solar, and HVAC last June 2023. They did a good job on the landscaping and our HVAC system but our solar was unfinished. We found out that they did not fix the deficiencies from the inspection from the Department of Building & Safety. According to the Department of Building & Safety, the sent out the deficiencies last year for them to correct but they never heard back from the contractor that Miller & Sons Construction Group hired. We've been reaching out by calling and emailing Miller & Sons in the last two months but until now no response from them. We are basically on our own and clueless on what to do. Department of Building and Safety is asking us questions that only the Miller & Sons can answer. We were told that we need to hire a new contractor to finalize our solar. We already paid $20,000 for a 6kwh solar panels and we don't want to pay thousands more for another electrical contractor to finish Miller & Sons Construction Group's job. Horrible, charged $50,000 to paint outside of my house put a water heater in and solar. About a year and a half ago. Paint is already chipping off the house. The old water heater I had worked exactly the same as the new one, which takes forever to warm up. If you're smart you will stay away from this company. We contracted Miller & Sons to completely renovate a small full bathroom and a master bathroom which included a walk-in closet. The work included the following: - Covered the floors leading to the bathrooms to eliminate dirt from additional crew foot traffic - Sealed off the bathrooms to help control the dust as demolition and new drywall work took place - Removed sinks, vanities, mirrors, tub/shower combo shell, built-in jacuzzi, half wall, and flooring - Re-routed a floor heating vent and as well as some plumbing - Installed a heated tile floor including new baseboards - Replaced the tub/shower shell combo with a floor to ceiling tiled tub/shower combo - Replaced the jacuzzi tub with a standalone tub - Installed new furniture style vanities and mirrors - Installed new vanity lighting above the mirrors and digital recessed lighting in the ceiling We selected Miller & Sons because of their process, quality of materials used, and attention to detail. They assigned a complete team to our project including a designer, project manager, and construction lead. They also provided high level drawings and detailed plans before the project started which allowed us to visualize what the finished bathrooms were going to look like and to identify items that either needed to be resized or eliminated because they did not work in the design. Also, all the correct permits were collected from the township which I felt was important because of the new electrical work and the fact that the plumbing changes were on the second floor of our house. The crew showed up on time and cleaned up every night before they left. The crew worked very hard and their workmanship was excellent. This project took place during the pandemic and all the correct protocols were followed by the crew. I was working from home during this period and before they started any activity that made a lot of noise, they always check with me to make sure I was not on a conference call. Avi , who was the project lead provided regular updates as well as presented us with various options that resulted in the project turning out even better than we planned. In summary, we had a great experience with this amazing company . We would definitely not only recommend the company but would hire them again when we have another project. Miller & Sons Construction Group came through for us when others could not. We had originally planned on using a different contractor for our kitchen remodel. They fell through and could not do the work at the last minute. We called Miller & Sons on a Saturday morning, one hour later, Dolev showed up to our house about 2 hours later. He took almost two hours listening to what we'd like to do, what materials we had, what our timeline was, etc. We went line by line for what we wanted done, and Dolev made suggestions to save us money and time, while not sacrificing quality. After the meeting he told us he could have one of his crews start on Monday, just 2 days later. That afternoon we received a contract as well as 4 references to call just as he promised. The total time of the construction was quoted at 2 weeks, but took an additional 2 days. Things in construction can slip sometimes. Throughout the process, everyone who came into our house was kind, professional, and thoughtful of our things. They cleaned up inside every day and never left a mess. If changes needed to be made, they were explained to us completely, both why it was needed and how it would be done. There was never any additional out of pocket expense for Miller. They were committed to the price we agreed to on the contract. After the construction was finished, we noticed some small issues in the backsplash grout and our wallpaper was peeling. We called Miller, they immediately apologized for the issues and we agreed on a plan to fix everything. We would order new wallpaper (which would be reimbursed upon replacement) and they would come and replace that and fix the grout once the wallpaper came in. When the wallpaper came in, I scheduled a time for the fixes. The crew arrived right on time, discussed how they would fix everything and got right to work. They suggested putting a boarder around the wallpaper on the island so that the edge would look clean and help prevent peeling (we have a toddler and she loved to pick at the wallpaper). It was a great idea and you can't even tell it's there! They fixed the grout quickly and it looks perfect. I can say that Miller & Sons Construction Group stands behind their work. read more

We came home to a busted pipe in an interior wall while on vacation; two inches of standing water in every corner of our house, and displaced for 8 months with our two little boys and dog....living between hotels and apartments. We pretty much lost everything. After getting 5 bids with remodeling contractors, Miller and Sons was the most thorough and detailed on explaining the actual scope of the job. Deadlines and expectations were set on an organized timeline. Miller's team, was nothing short of amazing! We had to gut and rebuild everything in our house and as painful and heart-wrenching of an experience as it was losing so much, Miller got us back in our home in 5 months, and we gained so much more than we lost. It couldn't have gone smoother. Avi picks his team members, because every single person we encountered was on their game, was extremely knowledgeable, and always working hard to make every turn of this process seamless. We always had envisioned getting to build our own custom home, but this is the closest we could get to it and we cannot believe the workmanship and quality of the custom designs they incorporated into our remodel. They provided us 3D renderings of exactly how everything was going to look. Miller and Sons were very helpful in assisting with an investment property. Their pricing was below others but they delivered. First they replaced a french drain with a sump pump which made the drainage issues non-existent. Then the crew found a leak in the sprinkler system. They repaired the leak, replaced the backflow valve, and replaced the control panel. It works like new! They fixed the retaining wall with this amazing stone wall and leveled the top tier of the yard which makes it suitable for decorations and toys!! After all the work was completed, they went above and beyond and put fresh mulch in the flower beds and around the trees. Dolev and crew were great. When we began our search for a kitchen remodeler, we spoke with several companies before choosing Miller and Sons. While the prices and in-scope services varied between the companies, we felt confident that Miller had the expertise to reassure us that our full kitchen remodel would be done fully with limited oversight needed from us. Designing our kitchen before we formally agreed to begin was a great experience with Miller. While other companies gave us one option that left out major asks of ours, Miller presented multiple options and talked us through each one. Working with our designer, we were able to get exactly what we wanted to adjust our existing kitchen layout and create the kitchen we knew we wanted. Nothing was ever too hard or off the table with Miller. Looking back, I know we would've been dissatisfied if we settled for a less than ideal layout or design from a competitor. When construction began, Miller's crews were hard at work daily and provided regular updates on what progress was being made. Our house is 110+ years old, and They worked through several several issues that were unknown prior to tearing the old kitchen out in a fair way. Ben, our project lead, worked diligently on our kitchen. Everything was handled professionally from the basics to more complex matters. Everyone from the top to the bottom, was available to us throughout the project when we needed but also extremely self-sufficient. We weren't required to have daily discussions. During the pandemic and both of us working from home, it was reassuring to have workers come and go knowing they were making progress without us having the oversee every minor detail along the way. In the end, all of the reasons we chose Miller and Sons during the exploratory phase were delivered. We've been in our fully renovated kitchen for a few weeks now and are impressed every day by it. Review got removed twice and let me try again. Beware of fake reviews. Miller & Sons is a terrible company. Do not do business with them. They took our money and walked away without delivering. We had to spend a lot of money to finish the job and correct the sloppy work they've done. They are under multiple investigations with CSLB and their bond's surety company. The guy essentially running this company is Danny. He was the president of another company called Henderson &Sons, which is bankrupt and their license is revoked by CSLB as a result of too many complaints. Danny is banned by CSLB to act as any type of managerial position in any licensed company. They also put the island pendants on the same switch with recessed lights. And they refused to correct their mistakes and want YOU to pay more to them to correct those mistakes. - Their plumber doesn't even know how to set up a tub&shower combo correctly. We cannot turn off the hand shower when the shower head is on. They blame Kholer for giving them wrong instructions while we called Kholer twice that we have the right product. They refused to correct their mistakes of course. - There were basically no project management. Their project manager only visits once every couple of weeks and there's no quality control. There were at least 4 people who acted as "project manager" for a while and they don't care about the work quality other than asking for payments. We were asked to communicate to their subcontractors directly. - Here's a list of people we interacted with and DO NOT trust any of them. Stacey: the sales person. Danny: the guy who approached us on Houzz and essentially running the company. Avi: He claims himself as "field manager". Marco: Their subcontractor. DO NOT LET THEM INTO YOUR HOUSE as they take your hard earned money and ruin your life. read more

Stacy Moore , our original project manager totally bailed on us and the worst part is we paid for projects that have never been finished and they won't even respond to have a conversation - this review is long overdue but I was hoping to have gotten it resolved , but unfortunately we haven't and it's been several months. They owe us thousands of dollars. Absolute failures. Avi is a joke as well when he was supposed to be " in charge". I hope they ready this because they're too chicken to call me back. This was a very stressful and disappointing remodeling experience. We were told the job would take 4-6 weeks; it took 9. We were told Miller & Sons, as general contractor, would oversee the job, yet their Project Manager didn't come more than once every few weeks, at our request -- and never even cared enough to come to examine the finished product! Despite repeated requests, we were not kept informed with a project plan addressing who and when people would be coming. Even when they were scheduled, they would fail to show, never giving us notice. All of this frustration could have been avoided with better communication, a timeline provided of work to be completed, someone to oversee the project, including examining the completed work, and courtesy being extended to us We are left having to correct certain problems with the work on our own because we've lost confidence in Miller & Sons to properly address them. What a sad way to end a project that we were so excited to embark upon. read more

They have a number of sub contractors who do good work when they are assigned to your job but they are stretched thin and the project took much longer than promised. They completed three bathrooms prior to the kitchen and I did not have these problems...some delays but nothing like my experience with the kitchen. The bathroom work was well done. If you have a tight schedule to meet make sure you negotiate that in your contract. read more

The project began in January and is still ongoing. Although the permitting process set us back, M&S was not at fault for the downtime however, the lack of communication and effort to complete the project in its last stages has significantly slowed down. We wished the communication was better along with punctuality but we haven't had any luck in those areas. Our advice to those considering to bring in M&S is to establish a good direct line of communication prior to hiring. It helps reduce confusion and mystery throughout the construction. read more

Avi and his team did a great job helping us through this rather intimidating process. I cannot say enough good things about the professionalism and responsiveness of the Avi and his crew. Our remodel took several months. Avi works from a written contract where he itemizes up front the work to be done and the project amount. Any changes are done by a written change order. At all times, I knew where Avi was on the contract and what he lacked in terms of completion Reasons for the 5 star review, 1. Communication was first class 2. Their detail in their work surpassed our expectation. 3. If we had a "concern" or question. They listened and answered - problem was always solved. 4. All of the material that was used within the construction was approved by us before installation. Avi answered or promptly returned every call I made to him. He is pleasant and easy going. It's not easy to find a contractor these days, especially one that you can trust. We hired Miller to do an addition to our home. After a lot of research, we decided to go with them. Avi ( our PM) was very honest and professional, and their price was very fair... from the first meeting we knew what we are going to get... QUALITY! Throughout the project, Avi was involved in every step that was made, he was always a call away and I never felt like I needed to chase someone to get answers. The team was very responsive, and able to start my project within a month, which was ideal as I had an emergency need (due to a leak). The finished bathroom is functional and beautiful, meeting my expectations; and the final cost aligned with my quote. A few notes to anyone who hasn't done major work on your home before; You will need to clean up daily. They put down tarps and coverings, but dust & debris has a way of getting everywhere. Plan ahead, and know what you want, specifically so they can find it, or something similar. Speak up if any changes or fixes are needed, prior to finishing your job. Be flexible with your days and hours, because it will vary daily, based on the work to be performed that day. We got estimates from many companies specializing in kitchens and bathrooms. We opted to go with Miller & Sons Construction Group to do all our work. Avi and Tal were very flexible in working within our time-frame and completed the majority of the work while I was on a leave. Custom design, cabinets, back splash, paint, and counter-tops. We explained what we wanted and worked with them to find the best designs and solutions. We purchased new appliances, sinks, lighting, etc., and Avi worked them all into the overall design. Our house is older and we ran into issues found during the demolition. Tal helped us through the problems. And, went above and beyond to fix some structural issues while still keeping us within our budget as much as possible. We found working with Miller to be a very enjoyable experience. These folks take their work seriously and they strive for excellence. At the same time, working with them and communicating with them was a really pleasant experience. We asked them to do additional work, outside the original job, and they were able to get this done too. Another dimension of difficulty, all of this was done during the COVID-19 pandemic, before vaccines were available. Avi, Tal and the entire crew really care about doing quality work. You can see their goal is to make customers happy and do the best work they can within the budget. Also, our estimate, and cost adjustments, was always kept up to date. We always knew where we were financially during the entire process. I'd highly recommend Miller to anyone. And, if we choose to do more work on our home, they will be our first choice to contact.
