We hired BARACA REMODELING for several big projects -- new driveway, new fireplace, upgraded HVAC system, and to replace a leaky window. STEVEN was our point person who coordinated the various crews for each project, all of which were done back to back with some overlap. He did a great job all around, as did his crews, especially JUAN and SAULO for the fireplace. They were all personable, professional, and fast. Of the 4 projects, the fireplace was the least necessary, but my wife wanted a reward for doing the necessary stuff (Can't live in SoCal without proper AC) so I reluctantly agreed to it. PM if you are seriously considering using them. I've used contractors in the past and im pretty sure I got priced gouged. I understand contractors need to find margins for profit but there is an extreme that seems too much and I got that sense from them. Their pricing is not transparent and they up-charge mid process an incredible amount. If the quality of the work and materials was high then I wouldn't have as big an issue but their quality of the work is average at best. I had a horrible experience with this company. I hired them last August specifically to stop a severe water intrusion in my garage. Whenever it rains, the water comes up through the ground and floods my garage. Barraca quoted me a price of many thousands to fix the water intrusion. I needed this issue resolved so I agreed to the price, and later paid in full. Barraca performed their work (the actual work crew was very respectful) and the foreman repeatedly guaranteed me that this work would solve the water problem. When the first rains arrived last October, the expensive work done by Barraca failed completely. My garage flooded as always. I immediately reached out to Barraca, in hopes of invoking the guarantees that I had received from them verbally and in writing. What followed was extremely frustrating. Continual flaking and excuses. "We are too busy to come over"etc. They eventually tried turning it around on me, even claiming that I only hired them to install new pavers. I never wanted new pavers but the foreman insisted the existing pavers needed to be replaced as part of the solution to the water intrusion. After many months of going in circles with this company, and them attempting a few minor/meaningless fixes, the owner told me that he views their job as complete, and they won't be returning. However my garage still floods as much as ever. Also, Barraca left the garage in a state of disrepair, including sandbags and cut out walls. I have current pictures. As I read in another review, if there are issues post job completion,this company becomes very difficult to deal with. They were argumentative and unprofessional. read more

From sales to installation and service, this entire experience was disappointing. We had Baraca install a vinyl fence along the property line with two gates. Before signing the paperwork, I decided to take a minute to read the contract. The saleswoman said to me, "it's a vinyl fence, not a mortgage". She wasn't joking. The joke came when the fence was installed. The gate on my neighbor's side was put in the wrong place. Luckily, she noticed and the installers moved it. My gate does not close properly. I've reached out several times and they've been unresponsive and flakey. The installers finished a day later than they were supposed to and left my property a mess. After this experience, I've gotten 3 quotes from well-reviewed companies to do the identical fence on the other side of my property. Each quote was, at least, $1000 less than what Baraca charged for the same project. The other quotes also include higher quality materials. These guys are the most expensive shop in town, yet they use cheap material and provide poor service from start to finish. UPDATE: After posting this review, the rep from Baraca finally came out. Their worker took the gate apart, cut it to the correct size, and put it back together. The following day, the owner came out to apologize. Not like a professional, taking responsibility for poor service. It was more like a child who's Mom made them apologize. Lots of justifying and explaining why he felt there was no problem at all. It was the same tone he takes in his reply below which is on-par with the rest of my Baraca experience. Then he presented me with a blank form, asking me to sign with no copy for myself. When I declined, he threw a small tantrum in my front yard, threatened me with his lawyer. For what? I doubt anyone knows. I also can't imagine what, he feels, gender had to do with this experience. We used Baraca Design & Remodeling to do a major repair of sunken pavers in our back yard. They removed the old pavers, put in the proper materials for under the pavers, leveled everything and even replaced the drainage pipes. When the pavers were put back it looked almost new! I contacted about 10 different contractors before meeting Tommy with Baraca. Tommy responded very quickly. Their initial estimate was about the same as every other contractor, the difference was in the speed of the estimate and the detail that Tommy provided: explaining details about how they would go about the construction process. No one else took the time or was as professional and friendly as Tommy. The price ended up being significantly LESS than all the other contractors in the end, due to a discount I was offered. The job started right on time when Tommy said it would, and it was completed within the time-frame, even with delays due to recent rains. Tommy was really good about communicating through the process, when the workers would be there, etc. He also made sure that the job was completed just the way I wanted it. If you are clear with Tommy exactly what you want, he'll make sure it happens just that way! In all, it was a pretty hassle-free experience and the end result is great.
