This place has a fantastic craft beer selection - a whole row of refrigerators just filled with craft beers. The prices are great, I can typically find something I like for $12-15/12 pack, and the employees have never steered me wrong with their suggestions. I love this store! I won't shop anywhere else. I'm primarily a wine drinker and they are great at making recommendations based on the price point I give them. The liquor and beer specials are also good and I take advantage of them too. The staff is friendly, the store is clean and bright. Would be a one star if this place didn't have so many choices. We went in to buy some beer for my old man. He likes american style wheat beer. Had so many choices so my mother grabbed an employee who was an expert. We told him that we do not want the German style with the cloves in it and that was our only request. He suggested we build our own six pack. So he suggested six beers. We brought them home and they all contained cloves and were German style! Obviously he didn't listen or didnt know what he was doing. Gladly we bough some other beer or else we would have been stuck with a bunch of beer we didn't like. unimpressed read more

I have shopped at Superior Liquor several times and appreciate their better-than-average wine selection and friendly and seemingly knowledgeable staff who are always happy to make wine recommendations. While i was browsing the wine aisles at Superior Liquor today, I overheard two employees talking together. Said one to the other, "I ALWAYS upsell; it's really easy here." I left my shopping cart in the aisle and walked out. i will not be back. I want someone to recommend a great wine for a great price. I can't trust Superior Liquor to provide that service. read more

For my first initial visit it was great. I found what I needed pretty quickly and felt I had found a good liquor store as I have recently relocated. One evening I went in and was having trouble finding what I was looking for, no employee ever offered to help find what I needed. After approaching a cashier to ask a question, they told me they didn't have what I was looking for in a 1/2 pint, but they pointed out there were shooters in front of the registers and I could find shooters of what I needed there. So I thought that was a good compromise and the Ones I were looking at were $1.79, so I grabbed a couple and went happily to the register, where they rang up at $3.79 a piece. When I told the cashier the price they were marked as, a big disagreement ensued and he as well as the manager nothing short of accused me of putting the shooters in the wrong place. They couldn't just take responsibility for the incorrect shelving and honor the price. I will never go back to this liquor store again. Hazels has a better selection as well as better prices and all the associates at hazels are great! Drive the extra 20 minutes to go to hazels, it's worth it. read more

My fiance and I just moved into the neighborhood. When we finished moving we wanted to pick up a 6-pack and then get some dinner. We got online and found Superior Liquor; their website says they have the 'best beer selection in CO.' We had to go check it out. Turns out, they have MAYBE half of what Liquor Mart in Boulder does, and certainly far less than Wilber's in Ft. Collins, or Dave Co. off I-25 and 119. Disappointment number 1. Admittedly, bringing an ID to a liquor store should be habit, but I wasn't going to drink anything (I don't like the IPA's he does) and I made it a point to not touch anything or carry any of the few beers we did get. No other liquor store ID's me when I'm with him, and he's buying. In fact, very few restaurants do. When we got to the counter the lady asked for my ID. After I didn't have it she said 'It's ok this time, but I can't sell with you here because WE (making it obvious with large hand gestures she meant MY fiance and her) are going to do a transaction. What the 'It's ok' meant, I still don't know. Then informed me that there are signs up front that say you have to be 21 to enter. I AM over 21 and EVERY liquor store has the same signs. I understand that this store requires everyone's ID's, but a LITTLE customer service would be nice. Because she was so rude, we will never be going back. There are plenty of other liquor stores with bigger selections and better prices around. Also, if they want to be such sticklers about ID's they should hire someone to work the door, like Liquor Mart does. Doing so would prevent the cashiers from needing to be so blatantly rude to their customers. Maybe that is why they don't put the cashier's name on the receipts either. **Notice that most good reviews of this store are from people who are from out of state, and 'have never been to a store that just sells liquor' . . . ** As for the guy that said you should have your license because you drove to the liquor store. Actually, I didn't drive and I wasn't buying. I'm sure the others with the same ID issue didn't drive and weren't buying either. Best overall liquor store in the area. I live about the same distance from Superior, Liquor Mart and Hazel's and regularly buy both wine and beer. The selection of the "nicer" products that I look for (i.e. not PBR and Mondavi) are the best at Superior. The staff are definitely the most helpful here, especially compared to the Boulder attitude that you find at Hazel's. Prices are about the same amongst the three. The recent traffic "improvements" on the Boulder streets also make it easier to get to Superior most times of the day. I have also saved a noticeable amount of money using their points program over the years. read more

Prices are good which is why I used to shop here. I am a 40 year old man. I haven't been ID'd in this store multiple times but last Friday the manager on duty insisted on seeing my ID before he would sell to me. I am clearly over 21 years in age and the tone and disrespect I received will insure that I don't return. Wish I had gotten the name of the manager. He was on a hell of a power trip. read more
